This garden is stunning. It’s reminiscent of the novel the secret garden. It’s adorned with beautiful statues, plenty of shade and sunshine. It’d also slated for developer destruction. Please write to the mayor and local officials to help save this garden.

Wow. All the celebrities are right: this place is totally worth preserving. Don't build anything here. Please. No kidding. And our little recommendation for our dear followers: eat a fresh banana and apple in this little lovely garden and have fun.

It’s my first time visiting this garden after reading news about imminent bulldozing threat for the garden. I was curious whether it is just another community garden done on empty city lot as a result of urban decay of 70s. Absolutely not, the garden is small and beautiful, looks much better appointed architecturally, designed and maintained than any official NYC park’s garden space. It is very heavily utilized by community that badly lacks access to green space. Building any kind of housing in place of this garden would be reckless vandalism, but somehow it would not be too surprising given Gotham realities.

Walked pass this park by accident but it was amazing! Terribly sad to know that it might be demolished to build accommodations. If it happened, I would be very sorry for people who lost their beautiful green space in NYC!

Google
Heard of the Halloween pet parade while visiting and couldn't resist going. Wonderful park and everyone (including the pups) were so happy and having a great time. So sad to hear the city is shutting it down for apartments..

Google
Beautiful garden, a nice relaxing place to stop and visit if you're walking through this section of town.

Google
One of the most beautiful and one of my favorite gardens in New York City. Adorned with sculptures and antique architectural details, it's tranquil and charming. A perfect place to read a book or to slow down for a little bit

Will be a true shame to see this park go, hopefully this city can right it’s wrong and keep this sacred space for visitors. There are few places as unique as here left.

Yelp
I just really like the relaxing nature and beauty of this little gem. I hope they win the battle to make it permanent but I'm a realist when it comes to NYC real estate.

Yelp
Sadly I stopped by and it was closed. This is on my list. Whoever designed this garden is a genius. It's a hidden gem indeed in the middle of NoLitta.

Britney H.

Yelp
Cute little garden with lots of small semi-private places to hang out with friends. Love the outdoor art and architectural pieces.

Yelp
This place has a special place in my heart. I've been taking my pup here since she was about 4 months old and now she nearly drags me here. It's a get together spot for the locals and their pups! It's a shame the city is trying to tear it down. They're doing their best to keep it open. The neighborhood wouldn't be the same without it. Please donate if you can! Beautiful garden and a hidden gem in Nolita.

Yelp
Hmm apparently this plot of land has been in a long legal battle against retail or housing building development; I'm curious on what the majority stance is by the locals about it. Anyway, as a tourist I found this garden pretty decent. Not the most typical urban garden square as statues and monuments are scattered around the place. Plentiful seating (maybe a bit too much seating as I saw chairs without a table, like in a strange musical-chair-type orientation lol). Some seating areas are a bit overgrown and could also use a bit of weed removing. Overall, not a bad spot if you want to sit, relax, and take in some greenery.

Yelp
What a precious little hidden gem in middle of NYC, peaceful, lush green and quiet in the middle of a busy street sums it up. We had our takeout pizza here on a warm sunny day and definitely the best place to kick back and relax after a long walk in the city. A must visit.

Yelp
What a gem. Tiny non-profit park in Nolita. Amazing plants and sculpture. Great place to rest your feet and relax.

Alden K.

Yelp
Fun little spot with a bit of greens and statues. A small escape from the big buildings. Filled with people, depending on the time of day. Seems dog friendly, all on leash during my visits.

Yelp
I discovered this small garden last summer and am so happy when I get the chance to visit again. It's a tiny sliver of nature in one of the city's most jam-packed neighborhoods, but definitely worth the visit. We arrived around one in the afternoon on a Saturday in November. Given that the temperature was around 40 degrees there weren't that many people in the garden, however, many people walking by tended to stop in and walk around so definitely come in whenever you'd like! The garden is free to the public and encourages visitors, even if it's just for a quick peek. Inside you'll find an array of statues and vegetation that make it seem like a scene straight out of a french countryside estate's private garden. There are small tables and chairs throughout where you're able to sit and enjoy the stillness of the garden as well. I'd recommend coming here to read a book, enjoy a cup of coffee, or to have a conversation with a friend. This is definitely one of my favorite escapes inside NYC!

Yelp
It's small, unassuming, and pleasantly surprising. If you need 10 mins of peace and inspiration, this tucked away garden near SoHo is perfect. There are neo-classic sculptures for you to ponder, strategically placed among stone benches or tables. There is sufficient space between seats for covid, allowing you to unwind far enough from strangers without being cut off from others. And there are plenty of trees for your dog to pee on. I'm a fan of it all !

Yelp
So beautiful such a gem in New York City. A must see whether you live here or are a tourist.

Carter B.

Yelp
My favorite green spot in the city. Quaint, charming, and the perfect little get away from the bustling streets.

Elaine Y.

Yelp
What a lovely oasis in the middle of Italy town. This garden is like no other, filled with sculptures and plants in every nook and cranny. It was lovely to find seating to rest and enjoy the surroundings, under the shaded trees. A lady sits at the side of the entrance, where you can donate to a fund to save Elizabeth Street Garden. I really enjoyed the beautiful display of flowers and sculptures, in such a peaceful and tranquil setting. You almost forget, you are in the middle of the city. Definitely worth a visit or bring a lunch or snack to enjoy in the park.

Yelp
this garden was very cute! i'm hoping they can save it! it didn't look like much greenery was there becuz of the cold season now but i would go back again. i took lots of photos!

Yelp
I was looking for a place to eat my slice from Prince Street Pizza when I stumbled upon this beautiful 10 acre community garden. So here's the thing - the garden is in danger of being closed. They are currently in a legal battle to keep the property open as a public space - as it has been for a very long time. The plan is to turn the land into affordable housing for LGBTQ residents, which at first blush is hard to argue against, but the loss of green space for low income residents is not adding to their quality of life. Central Park was created in response to what was even at that time a serious lack of outdoor space in the city. It's not something that's optional, humans need green spaces, and low income residents shouldn't be asked to give those up for a housing crisis created by the wealthy in the first place. IMHO. So stop by and donate, they take cash or Venmo. Write to the City Council. Stop and talk to some of the lovely volunteers who spend time maintaining the garden. There are goldfish who hibernate throughout the winter there. Beautiful large metal and stone sculptures, wind chimes, a vegetable garden, and ample seating areas. They also have outdoor classes like yoga and such - this is a real community resource that deserves to be celebrated and protected. Also of note - there's no garbage but there is one at the corner, so carry out what you take in. Cheers!

Yelp
This is an amazing and unique park in New York City. My friend was pretty excited to show me this park and I must say I'm happy we made it before closing. Hours: Weekdays: 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Weekends: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Weather permitting) To be surrounded by natures beauty it was quite relaxing and it had a way to make you feel like you no longer in the city--as if you got your keys and took a drive miles and miles away. However, that is not the case this lovely park is located on Elizabeth Street, between Prince & Spring streets--in Little Italy. This park like most parks is free and open to the public. There were a few tables and chairs--my friend and I grabbed two chairs and was able to catch up on life. We also had the opportunity to meet the man in charge of it all. He was very kind! He spoke inspiration to my friend as he has a job that makes really good money but it not his passion. He shared this link with us titled, how to be bad: https://vimeo.com/171596601 We also met a gal who, sat on a chair not too far from where we were, and she had a pet named Billy. Very nice lady. She let me pet Billy because she said he liked me. All in all I had a great time inside this lovely park.

Yelp
Very cute garden except we got eaten alive by the bugs. Still itching 2 weeks later... This is a gem in NYC, if you can find a place with no bugs, this would be great for a mini picnic or break from the busy streets.

Yelp
Elizabeth Street Garden is a hidden gem in Manhattan. It's a small green space that's more than a community garden. There are statues throughout the space and hidden benches for people to read on. They also host events from morning yoga. If you need a respite from the city life, retreat to this garden for hours. You'll forget you're in New York City.

Courtney P.

Yelp
What an awesome little hidden gem in Manhattan. While making our way through town and to dinner, my friend and I stumbled across the Elizabeth Street Garden. Sandwiched between several taller apartment buildings, Elizabeth Street Garden is a small little oasis in this concrete jungle. There are flowers and plants, statues and sculptures. There are plenty of benches and little chairs and tables scattered throughout the garden for people to come and sit down and think, reflect, write, or simply just enjoy their coffee or tea. They are currently raising money for their legal defense to try and protect the garden (I think from being bought out / destroyed). They have a donation box located by the main entrance. It would be such a tragedy to see such a beautiful space taken away from New York.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
A hidden gem in the dense forest of concrete buildings. It's a breath of fresh air and it is so welcoming. The shady spots are lovely during hot days and the statues and sculptures are so unique. There are strawberry gardens that make it so personal- I feel as if it's a secret garden in my backyard. Unfortunately, the garden appears to have funding issues and the area might be torn down for more residential housing. I really hope they are able to save it because we really need more places like this in New York City.

Leung T.

Yelp
An oasis in the city. This place just happens upon you when you come down the street between all the tenements. I use to live in Elizabeth Street many years ago & I can not believe how much has changed. A lovely place just to sit & read. Or have lunch.

Darko D.

Yelp
Beautiful garden to spend some time while reading a book or sipping coffee with a friend. Should come there more often...

Margarita M. R.

Yelp
Magical! Magical is the best word for this little GEM! So peaceful. Quiet garden has a lovely slightly disheveled look. Chockfull of butterflies, bees and birds flitting about from statue to water features through out. Fruit trees and flowers abound. Mossy paths wind around flower beds here. Lots of nooks and crannies to read, have a quiet conversation or just be and enjoy the moment. A must visit if in the area. Unforgettable!

Devashis R.

Yelp
Nice little hidden gem in the middle of Soho/Nolita. Doubles as an actual garden and a sculpture garden. You'll find a few tables and benches where you can enjoy your tea/coffee, conversation, or book. You may also stumble upon various outdoor classes, e.g. meditation, breathing, tai chi, etc. The volunteers are all quite nice, helpful, and can give you a short history lesson about that park, if you ask. Bring a blanket and sit on the grass! Also, please consider donating as the city is trying shut it down and convert it to housing.

Carol L.

Yelp
Small but peaceful, Elizabeth garden slightly resembles a cemetery in my opinion... There's a lot of random stone animal statues it seems that are placed orderly around the garden area. There's also usually a friendly smiley couple of people manning a table to "save the garden" at the entrance. It's a short walk around the garden, and there's often people meditating, having conversations with each other, or drawing. It's a nice quiet place in the middle of hustle and bustle SoHo, and one of the only spots of greenery in that general area.

Ekaterina K.

Yelp
Such a beautiful oasis! The place is magical! City wants to close it! Preserve the garden! Please go to their webpage: ElizabethStreetGarden.com to learn how you can help!

Asa H.

Yelp
What a lovely, important space to have in the city!! We need to keep this garden around for years to come! I spent an entire Sunday afternoon among the statues and spring blossoms reading and surrounded by New Yorkers enjoying the garden's pleasantry. It doesn't get much better than this.

Rachel K.

Yelp
Beautiful little garden; tons of seating, eclectic statues; a little quiet pocket to sneak away in the midst of the busy streets

Danny S.

Yelp
This is my favorite park in NYC! They have movies, music, and events here on the weekends in addition to being the most incredible oasis in the best neighborhood in downtown Manhattan. Help save the park! The mayor wants to turn this into a building!

Alex H.

Yelp
In a city where serenity + green space is hard to find, spaces like these deserve to be protected, admired and loved. The area has changed tremendously and is flooded with fancy brunch people + luxury stores, but if you pick up a coffee and come here to read and chill, you instantly feel better. I'm so happy this place exists and thankful for the dedicated volunteers who have fought for it to stay.

Yelp
I stepped into an alternate reality in this garden. Something magical descended upon me when I went in. I was just passing through. So serene, so bright, so peaceful. It has a community feeling. The statues are beautiful. The flowers are heavenly. It would be a perfect place to laze around and read, chat with friends or soak up the sun. I took many pictures of everything there. Please go to their website www.elizabethstreetgarden.com to vote to save this garden as it's in threat of being replaced by a building. "Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you got til it's gone. Pave paradise and put up a (building)."

Ryan M.

Yelp
We arrived late in the day after making our way to check out Nolita. We made a quick round in the park before the keyholder asked everyone to leave as the park was closing. I wish we had another hour to hang out and take more photos. It would be a wonderful place to waste the day away reading or relaxing. Highly recommended if you are in the neighborhood!

Blair S.

Yelp
Honestly, this is the best place for my children to play freely in the neighborhood. This is absolutely the best community garden.

Monika b.

Yelp
A curious and unique place in the city- however in a very traditional snotty NYC fashion we were told to leave (by the older lady volunteer with grey hair) because we were taking some pics. You know the tone - 'I am pretending to be nice but you MUST leave now' etc. Eh, New York you are getting worse and worse...

Kami S.

Yelp
Amazing! Reminds me of something out of the wizard of oz. Heard it might be turned into a condo, I sure hope that never happens! Gotta check it out I the spring/ summertime

Em M.

Yelp
Save the garden!!! It's practically brimming with people enjoying it. Great community space

L J.

Yelp
I was walking by and all of the sudden saw this magical garden. I'm saddened to hear that it might be destroyed in order to create a housing complex.

Tricia B.

Yelp
Very cool Garden under threat of demolition by the city. Stop by for a quiet green spot in the middle of the city and sign the petition to try to save the park. Full of sculptures and seating if you want to bring your lunch or coffee.

Liz K.

Yelp
The one truly peaceful, beautiful garden in the neighborhood. A wonderful place to relax and get away from the noise and crowds in the neighborhood. A truly beautiful gathering place for the people here and those who are just visiting.
