El Silencio Lodge & Spa

We stayed in El Silencio lodge for 2 nights in early December. The weather was stormy but we enjoyed every moment. The service is very personal and attentive, the rooms or cabins are great and well taken care of. The grounds are impeccable and activities are ample. The food is very good and nicely presented. The spa looks beautiful although we haven't experienced it. The walking paths are maintained and well marked and the waterfalls are gorgeous. There are few additional places around if you have a desire to leave the property. The place is a bit pricey but meets expectations for the price.

Stunning properties and facilities in the sprawling cloud forest national reserve. Arrived late in the afternoon and took a short hike along the outlook point, organic farm and hummingbird park - all well maintained with great care. The dinner at the restaurant showcased the fine dining at its best by versatile chefs. We had to leave at 5 am next morning for our flight and the kitchen prepared the breakfast for us upon our checkout. Service was impeccable and highly recommended for any future visitor.

This place is phenomenal! We arrived for our honeymoon and were treated as royalty the entire time. I would not hesitate to book this hotel! It was the best part of our experience in all of Costa Rica. We especially recommend visiting the nearby Blue Falls. We’d like to shout out Daniella and Juan Carlos in the restaurant. We ate the best meal we have ever had and the service was impeccable! Sebastian, the chef who did our cooking class, was also incredible! We’d recommend this place over every other place we’ve visited!

Driving into the resort was an experience in itself. We were given a welcome drink on arrival. Our room was not ready but gave us opportunity to look around. Everywhere was so clean.|Our villa was amazing. Double bedroom with jacuzzi overlooking the stream.|We did the complementary hike around the property with a very knowledgeable guide. |I did find the vegetarian/vegan dinner options a little limited, but that said I did find something that I could eat. Breakfast which was included in our package was lovely. |It was just a shame that we was only there for two nights

This is a slice of heaven in a cloud rain-forest. We recently stayed here for 6 days and could not have been happier with the overall experience. This is this our second visit to CR and we definitely will be coming back for more. The property is located in the mountains northwest of San Jose airport and the ride takes a good hour or so, depending on the traffic. It is located in a secluded part next to nature preserve. The property is small (only 24 villas) and the grounds are very well maintained. The rooms are very comfortable and twice-daily housekeeping is impeccable. The closets are a bit on a small side, so do not overpack. Villas are well-spaced out throughout the property to ensure privacy. The most amazing part of this resort is not the beautiful surroundings but rather the outstanding quality of service that its staff provide day-in and day-out. Not once during our extended stay did we encounter poor or average service. Each and every employee goes out of their way to ensure that each and every guest is treated like the most important person of the moment. Such level of consistency is really amazing and very commendable. The restaurant provides a high quality menu with the focus on locally sourced and freshest ingredients, and the dishes are not only beautifully presented but also very tasty. The executive chef is of Italian-Peruvian descent and such heritage is clearly evident in the menu. The restaurant has a fairly good wine list, though I wish there was a slightly bigger selection of light reds. The resort offers a good selection of daily activities, both on- and off-site. We participated in a number of those, and truly enjoyed all of them, from zip-lining to bird watching to a trip to Arenal Volcano & Hot Springs. My only suggestion would be a more detailed prep information to the guests as to what to expect and to bring to those longer trips. Spa services were equally outstanding and we certainly indulged in those. Massages and body treatments were of high quality and we had nothing but praise for the therapists. Again, all therapists were equally good and equally consistent each and every time we used spa services. In summary, I would highly recommend this property for anyone who is looking for a relaxing stay in the cloud / rain-forest of Costa Rica (don’t forget to check the forecast, as it is slightly cooler than most of us envision Costa Rica to be and brief rainfall is common). The grounds are beautiful, nature is pristine, villas are comfortable, the staff is amazing and the management goes out of the way to ensure that each and every guest has an enjoyable visit.

Our stay at El Silencio Lodge & Spa was nothing short of magical. Nestled deep in Costa Rica’s rainforest, this luxurious retreat offers a true VIP experience in the heart of nature. Getting there can be quite the adventure, so I highly recommend using the hotel’s transportation service, especially if you're unfamiliar with the mountain roads.||The accommodations were stunning, with a perfect blend of modern luxury and natural beauty. We treated ourselves to the luxury suite for my mother’s birthday, complete with a private hot tub overlooking the river—an incredible setting to relax and take in the tranquil surroundings. Waking up to the sound of the forest and mist-covered mountains was a dream come true.||Each morning, we started our day with the complimentary yoga sessions, which were the epitome of peace and serenity. Practicing yoga with the backdrop of birdsong and flowing water felt like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Evenings were just as special with the lodge’s complimentary hot chocolate - the perfect cozy treat after a day of unwinding and exploration.||There’s only one restaurant on the property, but the farm-to-table menu is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we tried was delicious, and the freshness of the ingredients, many of which come from their own gardens, was evident in every bite. The property itself is full of wonders, from exploring the lush gardens to learning about the medicinal herbs they grow right on site.||The spa experience at El Silencio is unparalleled. Our group treated ourselves to several treatments, and every moment was pure bliss. The chocolate massage was absolutely decadent—nourishing for both the body and the senses, made even more magical by the outdoor rainforest shower after. We also experienced the El Silencio Ritual, which felt like a complete mind, body, and spirit reset. And for those who enjoy reflexology, the therapists here are highly skilled—our sessions were both relaxing and invigorating. A very special thank you to the staff at the Spa - Maria Fernanda, Paola and Ericka were phenomenal! ||One of the best parts of the property is how walkable it is, with hidden gems at every turn. We visited the stables to meet the horses, who were well cared for and friendly. Some visitors even opt to take a ride through the mountains. The hummingbird garden was another favorite spot, where we spent hours watching these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. On our last morning, we were delighted to see monkeys swinging through the trees! Don’t miss the scenic trail leading to three magnificent waterfalls. You can even swim in the last waterfall if you wish to. If you don’t feel like walking to different areas on the property, you can call a golf cart to pick you up. They arrive within minutes. ||El Silencio Lodge & Spa is the ultimate destination for those seeking luxury in the midst of nature. The combination of personalized service, world-class spa treatments, and breathtaking scenery made this an unforgettable stay. We left feeling completely rejuvenated, already looking forward to our next visit. I can’t recommend it enough!

The resort is amazing and staff wonderful. Make sure you take the hike on site to the 3 waterfalls - suggest guided as better experience. We went in rainy season and was fine, waterproof footwear is a good idea. We swam in the very cold falls at the top. Love the place and fresh food! We had lodge 16, the best and private yet still close to everything.

Beautiful location in the cloud forest with waterfalls and streams throughout the property. There were plenty of activities onsite. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and very well appointed with excellent attention to detail The restaurant was first rate with many delicious breakfast and dinner options. |The staff were all very friendly, kind, and welcoming, and the service was first class. |Though windy, the road to the lodge was not a big deal and easily manageable. |We would happily return again and look forward to doing so soon!
