"El Quim has the kind of privileged setting no amount of money in the world could ever buy. Situated in the middle of Barcelona’s emblematic La Boqueria, it doesn’t need to create its own ambience, surrounded as it is by the flavors, colors, and buzz of one of Europe’s most iconic food markets. All the produce is sourced from within La Boqueria itself, and if that isn’t a testament to its quality, what is? Kick things off with some fresh anchovies bathed in oil and vinegar, followed by the house special of fried eggs with baby squid." - Isabelle Kliger

"In 1987, Quim Márquez set up his tapas shop at La Boqueria, Barcelona's famed food market. His space was a three meter-long counter with five stools. El Quim's following grew exponentially in the next decade—and in 2000, it moved to a 16 meter-long counter with 18 stools. Absolutely stop here for an egg breakfast (with ham or foie gras, mushrooms, prawns, squid, etc.) before perusing La Boqueria. As super foodie Phil Rosenthal, creator of Everybody Loves Raymond, says, it's the kid of meal that will call you back to Barcelona."

"One to try in the Boqueria, El Quim is at the heart of it all, identifiable by its wrap-around yellow slates at the top of the stall and fried egg logo. Quim has all the classics and some specials like chipirones (small squid) with a fried egg or saffron milk cap mushrooms that bleed blue in season, quickly seared with jamón crumbs. When everything was shut down during Spain’s brutal first COVID-19 wave, Quim Márquez was one of the chefs who stepped up to cook for Barcelona residents who needed a meal — that’s reason enough to pull up a stool." - Suzy Taher

Had a quick bite here to experience the Tapas Culture inside the famous Mercat de la Boqueia. 🙂 Ordered two best sellers, Fried Eggs with Baby Squid and Patatas Bravas and they did not disappoint. 🙂 A little pricey for the squid dish but it was something different from other tapas bars’ menu. Glad I’ve tried that. 😌 Service was fast and friendly. My first tapas meal in Barcelona was a good start. 😊

A small tapas bar located inside the Boqueria Market. Prices are indeed on the higher scale but all the dishes we ordered tasted so good and I would recommend them all. Just be careful to keep your belongings in the front instead of putting them on your chair cause they might be stolen.

Google
The absolute highlight of my Barcelona trip so far 🇪🇸. Juan and the team are incredible to watch like a finely oiled engine moving seamlessly between kitchen and customers providing delicious bites treats and drinks whilst chatting and multitasking to the extreme. Fascinating to watch, delicious to eat and just iconic both in setting and in taste. The dessert ‘from peru’ made with pisco sour foam was the outstanding dish I’ll remember forever but gazpacho and crispy padron peppers also incredible. One of the best places I’ve ever eaten! Highly highly highly recommend 🍷 🍋 🍅 🥖 🍋‍🟩

Seafood are fresh. Food is great. Only downside is they do not have a queue system. So you gotta stand behind other diners for seat. Otherwise really enjoyed their food.

Google
A bit pricy but it tastes quite nice. I like the oxtail risotto. The fried eggs with squid was just average. Turns out around 30euro pp.

I went to the Boqueria on Saturday 11 January around 9am hoping to experience the breakfast at Pinotxo bar, which is my mistake as it is nowhere to found in there :) So i ended up at Quim de la Boqueria instead. The sandwich was delicious. I could even remember the caramelized onion . Loved it. Service was fine. One disappointment though is being kind of snobbed by their Filipino chef/staff. As a Pinoy, we normally ask other Pinoys where they are from overseas or in the Philippines. I maybe biased on this but im hell sure about this very Pinoy trait. Unless one maybe is not in the mood to talk or the person is in menopausal stage like in the case of this guy perhaps? I even heard him ask the name of the Filipino guy who world in the candy shop just in front of the restaurant but didn't even do even a small talk with me. Not that im in dire need of attention or that guy looks like a Hollywood/Pinoy actor!

I had read really good reviews about this place, and it was nice to have a spot in the market with seating. Food was good but I think we could have gotten better value for money by just walking around the market and picking up random foods. House Special Squid & Egg was very unique. I would never have not squid and a could actually go together but somehow it did! A decent portion size on this one, but also very expensive! Grilled eggplants were amazing! It actually looked very aesthetic as well and they give you a spoon to scoop out the flesh from the skin. Overall quite a flavorful dish and nice to get some veggie and fiber in as well! Sausage & Beans was good! Quite a large sausage and a very large amount of beans as well. So definitely recommend this for some nutrition! Pork Dumplings were very unexpected! They will like crispy dumplings with some really nice sauce! Filling and the sauce was really nice and went really well with a coating as well, but only thing is that it felt a little too oily from being deep fried. Spanish Omelette was delicious too! I've tried them at other places and this one was notably good! Love the Papas Bravas as well! Perfectly crispy potatoes with that really nice spicy sauce on top. That sauce was so good, I had some with the Spanish omelette as well and it was beautiful

Google
Great little stall in the market that’s always busy but I would still call it slightly overhyped and overpriced. The food itself was really look but definitely not the best I had in Barcelona. The patata bravas unfortunately wasn’t crispy. 2 of the 4 croquettes had very little taste. The highlight was definitely the Iberico ribs dish which was really tender and flavorful. Service was friendly and fast. Pretty expensive compared to other places in the area, likely du to their reputation. Would still go back but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had during our 3 week trip to Europe! Although I've been to La Boqueria multiple times over the years, I've never been able to grab a seat at El Quim. After stopping by towards the end of their lunch service, I can now see why there's so much hype! We tried croquettes, patatas bravas, and the oh-so-tender oxtail. Every single bite was the right amount of crunch, tenderness, gooeyness, and meatiness we were looking for after a long day of walking around Barcelona. We also ordered some light white wine to pair with everything, which made for the perfect vacation lunch. The servers were all nice and speedy, and the prices were fair. I'm definitely going to come back here to try their egg-topped dishes as that's what they're known for. Don't miss this delicious spot!

Yelp
The food was delicious overall. I came for the squid and eggs after hearing about it from blogs and reviews but it did not live up to the hype. It was a bit on the salty side. I even soaked up the juices with bread. It was meh. What stood out was the seafood paella, which was NOT on the menu. A couple next to me was just finishing theirs up so I asked about it. The grilled octopus was okay. I tasted more of the hummus than the octopus so not worth the price. The wagyu burger was amazing. And finally Iberian ham was ofncourse, delicious. Can't go wrong with that!

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and eat here. It lives up to the hype! Dine in for 2, June 2024. Mushrooms & fried eggs Seafood platter 2 medium beers Bread (they give this to you right away but it's not complimentary) Total: €66 The fried eggs with mushrooms were incredible! Totally recommend. I'm so glad we went with mushrooms over the squid since so many reviews said the squid was too salty and nothing special. The mushrooms were divine and they give you a large portion of mixed mushrooms. This was nice to split between two people but very easy to eat the whole thing yourself. Our eggs were cooked over medium hard (90% solid yoke) though I would've preferred over easy/iver medium- maybe next time I'd ask. The dish was still 10/10. The mixed seafood platter was totally the star and I'm so glad we ordered it. It is enough to split but because it's just protein it's very doable to take down on your own if you are solo. It comes with 2 razor clams, 2 large prawns/shrimp, 2 fillets of pan fried white fish, 2 large mackerel, 2 large pieces of squid/cuttlefish, 6 bite size pieces of octopus, a generous portion of mussels, and a handful of clams. I asked for extra lemons and squeezed it across everything. My favorite were the octopus, razor clams, prawns, mussels & clams, squid, white fish & mackel. The prawns and bread are both very good when dipped in the seafood "drippings" on the plate. I only had 2-3 mussels that were a bitty gritty. Everything else was very clean. Big yum and would totally come back and reorder!!!

Yelp
I was able to get a seat quickly since I was a party of 1 and showed up close to when they opened. Service was fairly quick and their baby squid specialty was greaaaat! I loved being immersed in the El Mercado with everyone sharing one goal in mind: enjoying delicious food.

Ally W.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast on a Saturday, as it opens early at 8AM. There were plenty of open seats. Tip: Do check El Quim's Facebook page for the latest hours. Most websites do not have their most up-to-date hours. If you are having trouble finding the place, it's located near the center of Boqueria, with a yellow header that says "Quim." I got a checklist of menu items to order, and the staff was helpful for navigating me through the menu for my first time. I liked: * Artichoke chips: I did not know artichoke could be made into chips. They were crispy and nicely fried. * Grilled garlic shrimp with cava reduction: I love garlic and really liked the extra garlic garnish at the top. Bread is provided so you can mop up the sauce. I was told fried eggs with baby octopus is the most popular dish here, but I didn't like it at all. The baby squid was very salty and squishy, and I did not know what purpose it served with the eggs (1 star off). I would be just as happy eating fried eggs by themselves, or maybe even more so without the salty and squishy baby squid. As I was leaving, a large plate of blood sausages came out. If I wasn't already full, I may have tried that next. There is a good variety of tapas here, so try something that you think you would like, rather than something people tell you is the most popular. You know, be yourself.

Helen H.

Yelp
I sat myself on a free stool. I didn't really know what to order, so I went with their house specialty- fried eggs with baby squid. I'm not sure what's so special about it. I was also given a bag of bread. I thought it was complimentary, but saw it on the bill. I didn't even eat it and could've done without it.

Jessica H.

Yelp
Great bites, but seating can be a challenge - no queue list so you'll need to fight for a spot. Ordered three plates: Octopus and eggs, a delicious combo Tripe, great for dipping with bread but rich so definitely share. Seafood Platter, plate with clams, mussels, fish, and squid. Amazing assortment and tasted amazing but marred only by a single shrimp with grit and a fish with too many fine bones. Despite these minor issues, the flavors are spot-on, making the trip worthwhile.

Aaron M.

Yelp
Located in the market, we found this place from all the YouTube research lol and definitely worth the hype This is in the center of the market and usually very busy, great spot for breakfast or early lunch. We got the octopus and eggs. This place didn't disappoint and staff was super friendly. If you have the chance, go and try!

Benjamin H.

Yelp
Amazing place. Get there early to get a seat. Plan on ordering lots of small things to try. Servers/cooks are cool but you'll have to be assertive. There's a lot of raves about this eggs and baby squid dish. I wasn't so taken w it, but if you're a squid nut then you'll probably like it.

Charles A.

Yelp
Fantastic experience of eating inside of the market! Once you sit down they give you a menu and a pencil, then you mark down the things from the menu you would like. You give them your drink orders verbally. Their signature fried eggs with squid was delicious! I was expecting the squid to bring more of an ocean or brine flavor to the dish than it actually did. I would say that it was very subtle but noticeable. The grilled octopus was easily the best we had in Barcelona, and we had a lot of octopus! The razor clams were delicious as well. The cuttlefish tasted good but it was definitely not our favorite. I would skip that next time. In the morning, the linden flower tea was very refreshing and enjoyable. Service was very friendly once we sat down. Feel free to ask for a menu as you walk by.

Tara S.

Yelp
We wandered around for a good 15 minutes to find this spot but it was worth it! A cute little place to sit and have breakfast, the servers come right up with your placemats, cutlery, and menus. We ordered drinks first, water, orange juice and two iced coffees. They then give you a bag with 4 pieces of crusty bread. I had the fried eggs with wild mushrooms and my spouse had fried eggs with baby squid. I can't speak for the squid, but my dish was very good! Flavorful mushrooms with perfectly done fried eggs. And the dishes looked small but we're actually very filling. There were a lot of unique sounding items to try, we'd go back next time we're in the area!

Nita T.

Yelp
I came here October 2022 and stopped by during lunch time. I couldn't get a seat. It was awkward standing behind someone, hoping they would eat and leave and you could snag a spot. It never happened and I gave up and left. But I knew I was coming back do it was okay. Finally, in May 2023, I walked up to the stand around 3:30 and there were empty seats. My family didn't understand why I was panicking. We sat down and ordered a bunch of stuff and then they turned the lights off. There were seats because they were CLOSING. A new type of panic set in. My mom didn't realized and ordered another dish and they were kind enough to make it for us. So we had 20 ish minutes and 6 dishes to eat. The dish I really wanted to try was the squid and honestly, it was the most disappointing one for me. Maybe I hyped it up too much and set myself up for this. It was too salty and nothing special? It's baby squid and eggs. It was creative and unique but nothing mind blowing. The other dishes were stellar however! I recommend the grilled prawns over the garlic, though. The prices were also a little high but it's a touristy area so that's expected. Overall really happy I got to try this place!

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I saw a video of this place while I was researching my eating itinerary for Barcelona. Once I saw the pic of the eggs and mushrooms, I knew that was going to be the first dish I tried once I arrived. The dish was yummy with the grilled mushrooms and fried eggs. I liked that the egg had a bit of a runny center to cover the mushrooms, but they were fried rather than poached so they weren't overly runny. It was a delicious dish to dip bread into to soak up all the egg sauce. Pan con tomate is so simple and still one of my favorites. This one was thicker bread with very little tomato so it was the weakest of the group, but the lesser amount of tomato did make it a good vehicle for the eggs. The service was very good. Eat at the bar. They have menus in several languages. I saw the artichokes and almost ordered them. I then found out from another diner that they don't have those all the time. I hope i can try those before I leave.

Mike B.

Yelp
It's chaotic, but if you can drown the noise level and just focus on the cuisine in front of you, then all things are better. The eggs and Squid do not disappoint the calamari is on point, the sangria what more can I say. I think if you're in search for authentic Spanish Papas, cuisine this place hits the spot.

Vanessa S.

Yelp
Came here midday where you have to have street smarts on how to hawk a seat otherwise, you could be standing around for hours while people just take seats from you since it is first come first serve. While the food was fine, it was overpriced for what you get. If you want no wait come early or after the lunch rush, otherwise you can get same stuff cheaper elsewhere.

Richard P.

Yelp
Overall: grab a seat at this popular bar in La Boqueria and you won't be disappointed by the unique options they offer that are local to the Catalunya region. Dishes trended on the saltier side, but are packed with amazing flavors that almost make you forget. Food: Baby squid with fried eggs are their signature dish and perfect for a late breakfast/brunch. The juice released from cooking in olive oil is drizzled all over the fried eggs and on the plate. Grab a piece of bread to scoop it all up and you'll be transported to the beach with the sea salty flavor and seafood flavors. The texture is a bit chewier than squid. Runs a bit salty so make sure to eat with bread and a drink of choice! Escalivada was the perfect acidic dish to pair with the squid as it is heavy on the olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and lemon flavors. Almost like a salad with the cold veggies, but don't be mistaken as it is filled with roasted colorful peppers that enhance the acidic flavors. Padron Peppers were a necessity for us as we wanted green veggies. Be careful not to eat them up like chips as they're super juicy and easy to eat! Also run a bit salty. Ambience/Decor/Service: Sitting in La Boqueria allows it to feel like you're really in the middle of lively Spain. Reminiscent of Grand Central Market (for those coming from LA!). Very hipster decor with the use of chalkboards, over the counter decorations such as wine coolers and more! Service was quick and English friendly as the nearest cook doubles as your waiter!

Cin C.

Yelp
This is one of the many bustling stalls at the market, but the bright yellow theme stands out from the crowd. Specializing in egg dishes, they do plenty of other tapas also. First get a seat. There is no queue, there is no waiting list. You stand, hover and stare at eating patrons until they get up and dart into their seats. It is part of the experience so might as well make it fun. Once you have a seat, one of the burly men in yellow will see you and get you a placemat, a menu and some bread. The bread is not free, but it will go well with whatever you end up ordering. I had the ceviche, the roasted peppers and grilled grouper. The ceviche was bright and tangy, with the addition of fresh peppers to bring some texture. The roasted peppers charred and salty, and the grilled fish was tender and seasoned perfectly. Part of the fun is to watch the team of around 10 burly men crank out meals in a tight constrictive space. They are shoulder to shoulder, slipping in and out with hot plates of food, grabbing ingredients, and serving drinks. Food and entertainment!

Patty C.

Yelp
The market is OUTSTANDING, but I saw the YouTube of Phil R in Barcelona and had to try this dish because I love all of the components. It was absolutely delicious. It was also so fun to have front row access to view the kitchen. The workers were all very pleasant and really seem to love what they are doing. They put their love into the food.

Tony T.

Yelp
We went to try this place after seeing that it's one of the most popular places in La Boqueria Market and Barcelona in general. We arrived around 10 AM and got seated within 10 minutes. We tried the 2 popular items: 2 Fried Eggs With Baby Squid and Sauteed Wild Mushroom With Caramelised Foie Gras and also added the croquette. I didn't like the croquette, but the other 2 were pretty good. However, they weren't as mind-blowing as I had imagined after reading the hype. Overall, it was a good experience and one of the more expensive meals in Barcelona.

L W.

Yelp
This is a fantastic place to enjoy a meal! The food is fantastic and the service is good. It is a fun experience to have a place to sit and enjoy the chaos that is the market. We actually ate there 3 times during our stay, it is that good.

Bianca C.

Yelp
Good service was great. All food came out hot and the service was prompt and easy. They provided a menu that had English and everything we ordered was yummy

Ahmed A.

Yelp
Sangria and fresh seafood; enough said! We loved the shrimp and calamari dish. It's extremely difficult to grab seats here so I caution some patience. This place is always packed!

Linh H.

Yelp
The place has a really nice vibe and atmosphere. The food selection is great. We had the razor clams, wagyu burger and fried calamari. All really good. You need to be patient and wait for a table since they are probably the most popular place in Boqueria.

Jonathan F.

Yelp
It's not a meal, it's an experience. Dining in the heart of the bustling Boqueria Market is a treat for the senses. Don't be put off by the wait to get a seat, it will paid dividends. The food is stellar, featuring fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. The food is not pretentious but the preparation is amazing.

Diana N.

Yelp
What an awesome place for a visit! There is no queue, depending on the size of your party, you need to wait behind people that you think will finish their meals first. I would not recommend a large group as they don't have a ton of seating, but if you must, either separate or have a few people sit and order some food and rotate. After waiting for about 10 minutes, I was able to snag a seat for 1. I had the eggs with mushrooms and roasted peppers and both were awesome. They have menus in multiple languages given their popularity amongst tourists. Do not expect tapas prices, I paid over 25 euros for my two dishes. Here it's about quality, so pick what you think you'd enjoy. I saw a lot of people getting the baby squid.

Jessica M.

Yelp
Ceviche was perfect. Warm foiie gras with mushrooms delicious and fried egg was divine. Didn't love the pulpo and egg (fishy raring).,nor the shrimp (bland). Service was disappointing. Guy that served us acted like he was doing us a favor. .

Lawrence A.

Yelp
One of the best tapas in Barcelona! This was our first stop upon arriving Barcelona. I posted here what we ordered. The baby squid with eggs is my favorite!

Roblee V.

Yelp
The ceviche is It was the best ceviche i've ever had. I was a bit sad there weren't any chips to eat it with, but it was still so good. I also tried the croquettes, which were good also but not super amazing.

B B.

Yelp
The food was so good, we came back 2 more times. We had the olives, fish and calamari. It was wonderful!

Jacqueline G.

Yelp
El Quim is one of the famous stalls in La Boqueria, they have been around for many years. Its located right in the center of the market. It's a first come first serve basis, so it's not ideal for a large party. You wait around until you see someone is paying their bill and hope to get the empty seat before anyone else does. They have a lot of workers behind the counter making the simplest yet the most delicious food. They give you a paper and pencil to place your order. We ordered the famous baby squid with eggs, ox tail risotto. They both were so delicious. Will definitely come back to this place to try more dishes next time we're here in Barcelona.

Andrew C.

Yelp
El Quim de la Boqueria Before we had traveled to Barcelona, we were watching "Somebody Feed Phil" on Netflix. Phil was visiting this particular eatery in the middle of La Boqueria and it appeared to me that this was a must place to go to visit. The only trouble was trying to get a seat by the kitchen. There are only 16 stools that are facing the kitchen. When seated you will find yourself staring at a display case filled with plates of various fresh seafood and cooked food. Oh yea "must eat" place for sure, but unfortunate for me I did not order well. My friend had an awesome dish that he would not share. El Quim de la Boqueria cooks with all the products found within the market. Definitely worth the time to eat at this restaurant.

Swan L.

Yelp
Eye-opening! We came here following the recommendation from the Mark Wiens Barcelona youtube video, and yes, I think our eyes tried to open as wide as his after tasting the tapas. It was a late (and our second) lunch, and we walked row after row in the famed La Boqueria to find El Quim. Tucked somewhat in the center, all the bar stools were occupied. We quickly scouted all 3 sides of the bar to find the unlucky party that looked like they were close to finishing so that we can hover awkwardly behind them to secure the coveted stools. After sitting down, we had already perused the menu and marked on the paper the 3 items we wanted - croquettes, fried eggs with squid (as featured in the video) and mussels. Una jarra de sangria was served to us as well - because, well, we are in Spain. Fruity, sweet, and dangerously juice-like, it was perfect for the hot weather. The croquettes came out first - amaze-balls! Crispy exterior, and smooth/creamy potatoey interior, it certainly opened up our appetite. Then came the squid with fried eggs. Such generous portions of squid and who know this combination would be so successful! I loved the texture contrast. Then a huge bowl of mussels, con pan, of course. The broth was deliciously savory and garlicky, perfect for dunking of the bread. The mussels themselves were super meaty and tender. Excellent recommendation, Mark Wiens.

Arshad H.

Yelp
El Quim de la Boqueria is located in the middle of Barcelona's famous Boqueria on La Rambla street. It's extremely popular with tourists and seating is setup like a bar. In the center of the bar, foods and drinks are prepared, and around the whole bar are stools. This place gets packed and usually someone is waiting behind you, ready to take your seat as you leave. I ordered the popular squid and eggs. Squid and 2 fried eggs (20 euros) - This dish came with 2 fried eggs topped with soft and tender baby squid. The squid were chewy and perfectly cooked. However, nothing really stood out about this dish, it tasted just ok. It didn't really have any taste to it. Bread is provided, and I thought it was complimentary, but it's actually 1.50 euros. It can be used to mop up the yolk from the egg and the squid Overall I thought the place was overpriced. It's a popular touristy spot and has received rave reviews from food critics, but I was not impressed.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Came here in the morning around 8:00 a.m. it actually didn't open until closer to 8:45 but we were the first ones there. Definitely a difference experience walking around the market with it completely empty. The food was amazing and the service was great as well. They were really nice about letting us sit down and wait for them to open up. Definitely go with the fried eggs and squid the other dishes or just okay. We really like the patata bravas as well, but that's not a particularly difficult dish to get

Wendi Z.

Yelp
The hype is real, yes the food fantastic, service outstanding, is there a line for a seat 100%. Please make this one of your stops, the food is so fresh so good made on the spot in this chaotic kitchen in-front of you . It is A total hustle and bustle type of vibe, yes it's a little uncomfortable having other people/ tourists breathing and looking over your shoulders but totally worth the service and the food. Had the fresh anchovies and vinaigrette, definitely try it and if the vinaigrette is too much it comes with bread, don't eat it all because we used it to dip our bread with the delicious fried egg and garlic prawns . The baby squid and fried eggs were equally eggcellent ! We topped it off with this chocolate cake and I gotta say this dessert was so worth the 45 minute walk to this market. Go try it , nothing beats good food and good vibes.

Carmen P.

Yelp
I missed the chance to eat at this very crowded place as I was late (the market closes at 4 pm). It took me 3 visits to get a seat and finally got one after a wait. Everyone was eating their signature dish squid with fried eggs. Now based on the Yelp reviews this dish was meant to be outstanding. Probably with too much anticipation, I couldn't wait to try this obscure dish that came pretty quick. The meal arrived on a hot skillet. Small dark grey pebbly things (squid) on top of 2 fried eggs sunny side up. I got a few pieces of baguette to mop this dish up with. Upon cutting through the eggs, the yolks would run over the squid to give it a creamy aftertaste. Now my first mouthful was extremely salty. Perhaps it was just the first one? Well, I persevered and got through nearly the entire dish cringing and questioning my taste buds. Perhaps the cook is having a bad day? Well, this 20 Euro dish was disappointing to say the least.

Yelp
I found out about El Quim de la Boqueria via Phil Rosenthal so naturally, I had to check this place out. You sit around a bar, and check off the things you want to order on this paper menu. I would recommend under ordering, and you can always order more later if you feel it isn't enough. We definitely ordered too much food for two people. We had the shisito peppers, gazpacho, croquettes, patatas bravas, and anchovies in vinegar. The peppers and gazpacho were just okay. The croquettes we're good but it came with four, which was a bit too much for two people since it was kind of oily. The patatas bravas were the best. You really can't go wrong with it. I wasn't a huge fan of the anchovies. Their main dishes sounded good, but it's a bit pricey. I'm not sure I'd be back the next time I'm in Barcelona because 1. I probably would go back to Boqueria in general 2. There are so many other tapas places/restaurants I'd like to try.

Yelp
Get the fried eggs specialty with the baby squids!! It's pretty pricey but well worth it. It's a simple dish but so good. It had the right amount of flavors and u definitely need to try it! We also got potatoes with spicy sauce and also croquettes to share. The spicy sauce tasted like spicy mayo sauce. It was good with the potatoes. We enjoyed everything and was so glad I was able to try this place out. This place is one of the popular places at this market and I also saw that Mark Weins (YouTube food blogger) had went to this place in one of his videos. It will be busy!!! But u just have to wait behind someone until they are finished so u can take their spot. Fast service!

Yelp
have heard a lot of good things about the baby squid over eggs. we ended up getting that and the mushroom over eggs. tbh my fam overall preferred the mushroom over the baby squid and felt the squid was too salty. but the taste wasn't too bad. would recommend to try but wasn't super super amazing either! the service was a bit hard tbh because you have to wait for people to leave from these bar seats and just awkwardly wait hoping they leave soon. It reminds me of finding seats in the Chinese food Courts in flushing NYC. The workers also seemed to have limited English but they gave us an English menu to just check off what we wanted. it can get hot because the environment is in the market but it is a nice stall to check out.

Yelp
This place gets super crowded so jump into a spot when you can! Despite how busy it is, the guys are really friendly and get your spot bussed up quickly. They hand you a menu and you either bubble in or circle your selections, hand it in and off they go. It's all bar seating and really neat to watch these guys make their delicious tapas. The sangria is awesome-the strength of the wine comes out and they aren't overly sweet. They go down easy, though. Their patatas bravas are perfectly fried and adequately sauced. Grilled razor clams come in a set of 6, were delicious and served with a bag of bread. Sop up that sauce! Grilled vegetables were also really good. Doesn't seem to be much in their diet so the grilled vegetables were a welcome option. The oxtail special was braised and had a few spare patatas in it. Really savory, really tender and the distinct oxtail flavor really comes through. Definitely a must-try. All in all a great experience and worth the wait. It's a nice reprieve from walking around the market before heading back home to take a siesta.

Yelp
Oh.my.gawddd. So good. You can get all the classics like the bread with tomato and croquettes. The seafood platter is the play. These photos are of my first visit. I came back the ne

Yelp
We headed to the grand Mercado de Boqueria in Barcelona just in search for this place.. the place that serves eggs and squids.. Prompt service, amazing dishes.. also the place where I really liked the patata bravas in Spain! Remember to ask for their English Menu if you don't know spanish and a pencil to mark your items to be cooked fresh for you.. We didn't have to wait much but a lot of people tend to visit this place so make sure you keep an eye out for that little space to squeeze in. Also, this place is pricey.. we had shrimps and two plates of egg and squids, patata bravas, one coffee, two beer and one rose.. it was about €104.00

Yelp
Located inside La Boqueria, this is probably the most popular restaurant. La Boqueria is a must-visit when you're in Barcelona and El Quim is definitely a great place to enjoy a meal. There is a limited amount of bar-like seating so you'll have to wait for other patrons to finish their meals to grab their seat. Upon seating, we were given the menu, which is also translated in English for us tourists. We decided to order the potatoes with spicy sauce, fried egg with baby squid, and grilled aged beef with foie gras sauce. The portion sizes are huge! I definitely recommend sharing the food, this allows you to try more stuff without having to waste food. Everything we tried was really delicious, the favorite item was the grilled aged beef with foie gras sauce. The flavors were perfect and we couldn't stop eating it! The potatoes with spicy sauce was also a nice appetizer to share. Despite the name, the spicy sauce really wasn't spicy. The fried egg with baby squid is also a fan favorite at El Quim, an interesting try.

Yelp
My meal at El Quim de la Boqueria was definitely one of the best highlights of my trip to Barcelona! I saw this place on a couple YouTube travel vids and it was recommended by several friends, so I knew I had to go! First off, unless you arrive right at opening, you're probably going to have to wait in line for a while. My first time at La Boqueria was early afternoon, and the wait was too long at El Quim, so I decided to come back and try another day. I came back much earlier the next time, and was able to get a seat right away! On to the food! I'm not even joking when I say I was shaking in excitement to finally try this food! I wound up ordering patatas bravas, anchovies and olives, and the star or the show, the baby squid and fried egg! The patatas bravas were great, as were the anchovies. I expected the anchovies to be a bit salty, but they were more of a smoked flavor, and tasted very fresh. Finally, the baby squid and egg is flat out one of the yummiest dishes I've ever tried! I was smiling like a goofball the entire time I was eating it, lol! The subtle flavor of the squid, mixed with the egg, and then some chilies mixed in...wow, this tasted SO amazing! Definitely come here if you visit La Boqueria, and definitely try the baby squid and egg! You won't regret it!

Yelp
This place was nice and right in the heart of Las Ramblas. The bar top seating is very limited so get there early or avoid peak time. We opted for breakfast which was great. The potatoes could have been better. It was enough to share if you have a coffee or juice. They are attentive but no frills. They run a tight ship so speak up if you need something.

Yelp
Good experience with tasty unique food and good friendly service. Tried their signature items and was not disappointed. Come early for seating!

Yelp
Highly recommended! I braved through the crowed and waited for a seat to open up. I enjoyed everything I tried and when I head back to Barcelona I'll be sure to stop in here once again.

Yelp
Overrated and overpriced! Ordered the gambas al ajillo (shrimp with butter) and it cost 22 euros for 7 pieces of shrimp. The shrimp was not the freshest compared to other restaurants. The worst part for me was the laziness. The shrimps had cuts down the middle but they didn't even go the extra step to de-vein them! For 22 euros, they could at least do that! The taste itself was decent, nothing special and could be more flavorful. This dish was a true disappointment in preparation and pricing. Definitely felt like a tourist trap. You can get this dish at other restaurants for half the price.
