"A Drink with Two Meanings In Costa Brava, Spain , you may hear someone say, "ir a hacer el vermut," which can have dual meanings. Literally it means, let's go drink vermouth, but in Spain the term vermut is also a more general term for let's have an aperitif (a drink to stimulate the appetite). This slightly sweet aperitif is seldom served alone in most of the world and normally only has a supporting role in drinks. However, drinking vermut on its own is a tradition in and around Costa Brava based on old Catalan traditions. It is frequently served with some tapas of olives and chips. El Far was the holiday we needed! It is so peaceful on the cliff and the views are amazing. The hotel has only 9 rooms and the staff are so nice. The room was great - all new bathroom fixtures, *amazing* towels and sheets, wood floors which kept everything spotless and clean. The most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept in. There’s a drone video on the hotel’s website - watch that to get a sense of the views. Our pictures don’t do it justice. The team there were all extremely hardworking. We loved everything about El Far.

Was ignored by several waiters until, after a while, one came and let me know they only serve food at this time. That's fine, but if you don't want any tourists, why not tell me straight away instead of letting me wait for nothing.

The restaurant was recommended and I booked it in advance. The seafood paella was cold and flavour very disappointing. We have had stunning paella through out Spain. But the worst here and tapas too. Service was good. Don’t bother.

El Far is special not just because the location is stunning and the historical site is magical and the room is spacious and the shower is incredible, but also because of the people. Olga made us feel like family. She looked after us, told us to relax, and we did. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for a short break of 3 days. The hotel is small, only nine rooms or so. Sympathetically restored, mixing the old and the new. It is a well run hotel with an excellent team who are always ready to help. It is perched high above Llafranc, which means it is a bit of a trek into the small town by foot, and it is steep! But that is rewarded by stunning views and peaceful evenings. Our room got both sunrise and sunset, although the majority only get the latter. They have a 6 century bc village in the garden. Good parking and WiFi. The restaurant serves good Spanish food, mainly fish and seafood, well cooked in a simple style. Good attentive service and a well chosen wine list.

Avoid. I ordered the calamari rings. They arrived soggy and cold inside. I sent it back to be prepared properly. After some time the calamari rings were brought back to the table. To our amazement it was the same plate I sent back and simply reheated. I know because the one ring I bit into and I placed on top of the others when I sent it back was stills there. Seriously! Shocking. We cancelled our orders and left. No apology and still had the audacity to charge us for the drinks!

We had a spectacular experience at El Far. Starting with the warm welcome from| Olga, she helped us every step of the way from charming conversation, restaurant recommendations, calling taxis and any other way she and the other staff could help us. The hotel is beautiful, the view is incomparable, and the setting is ruggedly gorgeous. Loved every bit of this place.

The hotel was fabulous! Olga was incredible the entire visit. She gave great recommendations for restaurants and hiking!|The dinner was very overpriced for what we received. I ordered lobster with rice and there was barely a mouthful of lobster. Breakfast was included and very nice. Minibar in the room was complimentary which was nice. Would definitely stay here again. |

We went to Restaurant El Far for Garoinada festival and it was a great experience. We didnt stay at the hotel so I cant comment on that but the restaurant is great. Make reservations well in advance and ensure to request for terrace seating as you are then overlooking the sea. The view is beautiful and the food is great! The service is okay but they can be a little slow sometimes and dont take customizations and side dish requests too well. The area around the hotel/restaurant is quite beautiful for a walk or a hike. We tried the sea urchins which were great - a little small but we tried two dozen so they were quite good.... We also tried the fish of the day - was fresh and well cooked... We also tried the fried sardines - most of the seafood was fresh and great... Definitely recommend for a nice sunny seafood lunch!

The El Far Restaurant/Hotel, is situated in one of the most breath taking setting on the Costa Brava. The restaurant is most elegant looking and the clientele also seem most affluent. The head Chef himself came to take our order and following his recommendations...we were sadly disappointed by our dinner. We found it very fatty and heavy; not at all what we had been expecting. Everything else; the wine, service desert etc. were excellent. I feel that I must go back and have another try. The bill was about 140€ for 2, Expensive for Spain but the settings...
