Éclat Hotel Taipei

Furnishings are a bit old but the hotel is very tastefully decorated. Service is fantastic there was a plumbing issue with my room and they promptly moved me to another room. Front desk made reservations for me for afternoon teas and restaurants- all with a smile. Location is excellent - a lot of shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

This hotel was fantastic; the location, the rooms, the staff - everyone we interacted with was very engaging, and we felt they really cared about our experience. Shout out to Jenny from the front desk 🤩, who's welcoming energy and get it done attitude was much appreciated. Hotel Eclat is close to transit, in a friendly neighbourhood, and close to many yummy places to eat. Highly recommended!

Love the boutique but luxurious feel. The breakfast is simple, and a nice touch to have evening drinks and snacks included. It's a convenient location to take MRT about 350m away or a public bus stop. The foyer displays some interesting arr pieces.

SUMMARY: I insisted on staying at Hilton for our Taipei vacation since I use Hilton for my business travels and I have Diamond status, but that was a mistake. I chose to splurge on a 5 star hotel for a premium experience and this was not a premium experience or even a good experience. We had better experiences throughout Taiwan in local 2-star and 3-star hotels for less than half the nightly rate. ||This is the review I sent to Hilton on 20 November 2024. We stayed for five nights. I received no response: |Lots of issues with facilities.|1. Day of check in - shower was not hot, I had to call for maintenance to fix it.|2. Day of check in - shower gel bottle was broken and locked onto wall so it was difficult to get any soap out, called housekeeping to fix it. |3. Day of check in - maintenance fixed the shower and housekeeping fixed the shower gel by walking into the bathroom and wet shower with shoes on, then tracking wet shoe prints from the shower outside the door - staff did not clean or dry the floors after, we used a hotel towel to dry the floors ourselves since we were in a hurry to be on time for our dinner plans. |4. First night - constant loud dripping sound from outside that made it difficult to sleep, possibly an issue with the gutters as we were on the top (10th) floor? In the morning when we informed guest services, they moved our room to the 9th floor.|5. New room - one bedside lamp was overly sensitive to touch. For example, setting the phone down on the nightstand or unplugging the phone from the charger activated the bedside lamp. The lamp would turn on/off after contact with nightstand surface, not just touching the lamp directly, which was annoying. Also activated during the night if brushed by my hand/arm which would wake us up.|6. New room - mirror light switch was broken and unable to turn it off at bedtime. Had to call maintenance at night to turn it off so we could go to bed. It worked fine the rest of the stay. |7. New room - shower would flood the floor with large puddles after use, didn't want to bother moving rooms or dealing with wet/dirty floors so we just used our own towels to mop it up. This was not an issue in the first room with the lukewarm water.|8. New room - hot water handle for the bathroom sink would leak when in use. The water from the handle dripped out of the handle onto the mirror.|9. New room - bathroom mirror had visible rust/oxidation on the bottom right corner. This was ugly to look at but did not affect mirror function.|10. New room - our new room had two extra remotes (sheer curtain remote and smart TV remote) compared to the first room. Was the first room missing remotes or were there different amenities in each room? The rooms appeared to be the same otherwise. |11. New room - room fridge had a clear glass door and the fridge was lit up all night. We couldn't figure out how to turn it off but realized only after we were in bed. One night we covered the light using a robe. Housekeeping removed the robe during the day and did not replace the robe so we only had one robe for the remainder of our stay (only one of us used the robe anyway). When we informed guest services of the fridge light issue in the morning, there was no change that night and the light stayed on all night. We used the wet towels (from drying the floors after our showers) to block most of the light so we could sleep for the remaining nights. I took a photo of how bright the light was when all the other lights were turned off. |12. Housekeeping services made the bed nicely every day, but were inconsistent with our pajamas. One day the staff folded up our pajamas neatly for us, one day they made the bed with the pajamas underneath the covers so we had to search for them, one day they plopped them on top of the made bed in a heap. I expect my pajamas to be left in a heap at a 2 or 3 star hotel, not at a 5 star hotel.|13. New room mattress was much less comfortable than the mattress in the first room. Did not want to bother moving rooms but shouldn't they be the same? |14. New room - WiFi signal was too weak to use streaming service on TV, needed to use different WiFi to connect streaming services. |15. Hotel breakfast was underwhelming, especially in a country known for delicious breakfast. It was included with my Diamond status so we just sucked it up. The latte and fruits were good. The hot breakfast items were not tasty but edible.||I did not inform staff of every concern because I was tired of managing facilities issues during our vacation. Also moving rooms is a big pain since we have to pack everything up. No room upgrade was offered and I assume it was because they weren't available. ||Two star rating as the hotel was nice to look at, location was as described, and every staff member I spoke with personally was professional.

Practical hotel for a short trip. Very clean and comfortable rooms. Close (2 metro stations) to Taipei 101 and other main attraction. Reasonable breakfast. Very helpful staff. ||Neighborhood is typical mid-end Taipei. Not much to write home about.

Overall, the room was pleasant, and the location offered a great view of the Taipei 101 street view. However, the breakfast options were limited. The bathroom featured a smart bidet/toilet, but unfortunately, the bathroom door was broken and couldn’t be locked.

My second time with this hotel and I did not have the most pleasant time with them nor as much as the previous time. That aside, amenities within a 500-1000m are the supermarket, family mart, restaurants and so on. It’s also near a couple of train stations so be sure to explore the underground pass. Iconic view with the 101 in proximity and can walk from hotel to 101 in about 15mins and some shopping areas as well all around. The hotel room is a little small but my qualm with them is the WiFi. Probably some rooms may not have but I have gotten the same problem since my stay with them in November last year. Some blind spots will cause u to lose connectivity but somehow their staff always came back to me with they didn’t find problems with it. But it is really irritating especially when u can’t get decent connectivity in this time and space so I do hope that if I ever stay with them again, this will be rectified. What was most upsetting was on the day when I am checking out (which is today), I received a call from the reception to my room at 10:59am and telling me that I should be checking out now when my check out time is at 11am in the first place. I have never ever gotten any ca before in any hotel and to get this from Hilton groups is to me unforgivable. It should not be the peak season now so is there an issue when I checked out 10 mins late (or less)?

Most of the European hotels have their showers half-shielded. You have to be careful in the direction of your shower head so as not to make the bathroom floor wet. The floor is usually slightly sloped to allow proper drainage. You always feel a little off balance in it. Éclat has their shower room floor flat so you will not feel imbalanced even without grab bars. The floor is made of evenly-spaced wooden planks to allow the water to drain between the planks. Even slightly careless, you won't get the bathroom floor wet. The shower room has 3 shower heads. One on the ceiling, one at chest height and one hand held. It is easy to change among the three. I thought it was very convenient and comfortable. The switchable glass between the bedroom and the shower was impressive. You can turn it opaque upon a switch of the button.

Overated hotel . Ac not working . Lousy noises at night with door busting. Location is not accesible and not near shops . No one help with luggage , under staffed , Service is average , house keeping won't clean any cups or plates . This is not a 4 star luxury hotel, you can't just add a Dyson dryer and highend sound system and claim you are. There is service level that you need to meet. We checked out early ( prepaid ) , they didn't want to acknowledge us a receipt that we checked out early. Even we didn't ask for refund . Simply not worth the torture .

Originally did a review on TripAdvisor's in the first two days of my five night stay. Things become less satisfactory after that and trip advisors is difficult to edit so I ended up deleting that review. Here are my final review after all of my stay there. I booked a premiere room ( bigger room and third tier from the highest level) breakfast. The location was fantastic and the breakfast crew were great. The room itself was ok. The tv broke down after the third time and was not operational for two days. The shower leaked all over the outside area. And I specifically requested a higher floor room to avoid mosquitoes as I am highly allergic and did the request a month out. Yet upon my arrival I was notified of my room on 3rd floor and as they were booked out they didn't have another room to give me. So yes I found mosquitoes on the second time and was bitten a bit. But all this I could have gotten over as it seem everyone was courteous and tried to address the issues I had as best as possible. I also ask for a late check out due to my late flight and they were able to push my checkout from noon to 1pm which I appreciated. Also when asked for directions they were also equally helpful and friendly. What really irked me was the day that I checked out few hours later I received an email from the front desk manager Ruby saying they are missing one of the two robes in the room and if I took it? I called just to confirm no I did not and she asked if I might accidentally have packed it in my luggage? Who accidentally packed a giant used robe in the luggage? I was quite insulted and will not be staying here again in the future.

One of the nicest boutique hotel I ever been. Excellent location! The room was beautiful with all the new technollogy gadgets you can imagine. Even the toilet welcome you when you get in to the bathroom!! Don't miss the opportunity to stay here.

I'm bummed to downgrade my rating, but during my last visit I was awoken at 4am by the sound of mosquitos buzzing in my ear. By morning, I had over 2 dozen bites on my legs (and I'm allergic!). The staff quickly took care of the problem by bringing in Raid mosquito plug-ins and a tin of salve to ease the itching, but by then the damage had already been done. Would have preferred being moved to a new room instead of sleeping with mosquitos hovering in a different corner of my room!

This hotel by far exceeds the 5 star rating, for several reasons: 1. BEAUTIFUL: This is a boutique hotel with beautiful pieces of art everywhere you look. Eclat goes out of it's way to show you they appreciate what their guest see and want to impress them from the beginning. These are not pieces I would personally buy, but I can see the beauty in them, which carried over to the rooms. I thought the overall feel was elegant and fun. 2. AFFORABLE: My deluxe room was 6,200 NTD, per night, which is about $188.00 USD. Very affordable and way cheaper than the Hyatt, I almost booked. Plus, the mini fridge with juice and soft drinks is completely free. There are also free snacks in the room: Cookies, Chips, crackers. 3. LOCATION: For me, this was an excellent location - 15 minute walk to my office - and within walking distance to so many restaurants and shops. Of course it depends on what your plans are (I did not come as a tourist), but everything I needed was within a 2-15 minute walk. There is also a beautiful tree lined walk-way right in front. Also, I did not hear a peep. It was so quiet, which I loved! 4. FUNCTIONAL: The bed, tv, shower, bathroom, closet and desk, all worked excellently for me. First, I must say the shower is the BEST I have ever had. If I ever buy a home in the Bay Area, I will custom make it to replicate this shower. One stream is movable and hand-held, the 2nd stream comes out of the top of the wall in front of you, like a "normal" american shower, and the 3rd stream shoots out of the celing. The pressure is fantastic and coming from California, I did not have to feel guilty about taking a nice long hot shower. There are wooden slats as flooring, and the shower is very large. The toilet seat is heated (very nice) with button controls. So many nice touches too: free his and hers toothbrushes plus other items in case you forgot something...and again - a FREE mini fridge, free snacks, turndown service, with a pineapple pastry on your pillow, fresh daily fruit set up in your room (Kiwi, apple, passionfruit, banana). Bed linens were AWESOME, and VERY comfortable too. I should also add that the room service food was DELICIOUS!! 5. SERVICE (most important in my opinion): Honestly, exceptional service from A-Z. When I first arrived, the staff checked me in quickly and walked me to my room, carrying my luggage, and showed me how to work everything (You need your keycard to get up in the elevator, for example). One gentleman, remembered how tired I said I was (I had just got off a 15 hour plane ride from Germany), once we got to the room and they explained a few things he stopped and he said to me that he preferred I get some rest and they would be available by dialing 9 if I need them to show me anything else. Wow, I really appreciated that attentiveness. I wanted to get a massage the next day and had no idea where to go. There were so many places. The staff provided me with a pamphlet for a place they recommended close by. He even called them to book my appointment. REALLY!? Just wow. On top of that, when it came time to leave, I had to change my flight to leave several hours early as a Typhoon was coming into town. This unfortunately meant I would have to leave by 3AM in the morning to get a cab to the airport. When I came downstairs the front desk gentleman checked me out and said the kitchen had prepared me a take-out lunch (which included a sandwich, fruit, crackers, water), as they knew I probably would not be able to grab a bite to eat anytime soon and would be tired and hungry when I got to the airport. OMG! Come on, really!? Stop it!! :) This was over the top hospitality. I'm not the queen of England, but boy oh boy I sure felt like it!! I was honestly a bit embarrassed by so much consideration and attention, but was ultimately extremely humbled that the Taiwanese people would make me feel so special and important. They knew my name at all times and offered any and all help 100% of the time. Cleaning staff were great too. In all of my travels...hands down an absolutely incredible and unforgettable experience at Eclat Hotel (and Taiwan for that matter). I would recommend them for sure. Awesome job!!!

Beautiful boutique hotel in a great location. We found it through Amex travel. Upgraded to premiere room. Room was perfect for a couple and had a full feature heated bidet toilet, Jacuzzi tub and rainfall shower. And a Japanese massage chair which was a fun perk! The staff is friendly, attentive and most spoke English very well if that matters to you (my partner speaks Mandarin). Loved the lobby and bar area with quirky, eclectic artwork everywhere. We were there Dec 24-24th and everything was decked out in Christmas cheer, included the staff in Santa hats. This place has all those little details that show they care and is much more interesting and fun place to stay than a similarly priced big chain hotel. Highly recommend!
