This place was recommended to us, and rightly so! If they haven't been on 'You Gotta Eat Here', they should be! Super service, amazing portions. Hubby had the smoked salmon eggs benny and said "Mmmm' with every bite. I had the peameal, cheddar, carmelized onions on brioche-SO tender! Our granddaughter had the biggest, fluffiest pancakes ever. This will be a regular stop every time we are in Barrie. Well done, everyone!

Great food and service! We went on a holiday so restaurant was busy during brunch hours. However we got seated quickly and service was on time. Both the dishes ordered (Namaste and veg omelette) were amazing. Prices are reasonable.

My son and I went here for a late breakfast on a Wednesday. I think it was fairly busythe menu states. When it's busy, you'll be a 30 minute. Wait, we waited 30 plus minutes. I ordered the what the cluck benedicts. It was by far the best eggs Benedicts I've ever had the chicken. Was the star and the holindase sauce was a close second. My. Son ordered the kids pancakes, chocolate chip pancakes.They were huge our only downside to the meal was his meal was $7 and the small orange juicewas $5.I'm sure the menu may have stated this but I.Missed it when I was ordering other than it was a great meal

The most amazing pancakes I’ve ever tried, with real maple Canadian syrup served on the side! Many meat and vegetarian options available and they serve the most crispy and well seasoned potatoes I’ve ever tried. The workers are attentive and helpful in making recommendations. If I lived locally, I’d visit all the time for sure!

My recent breakfast at Dunlop Street Diner was a delightful experience. The breakfast platter, featuring egg, homemade fries, bacon, sausages, white bread toast, pancakes, and baked beans, was a delicious combination of flavors and textures. The complimentary coffee, as part of the early bird discount, added an extra touch of warmth to the meal. The cozy ambiance and friendly service made the visit even more enjoyable. Overall, Dunlop Street Diner exceeded my expectations with their wholesome breakfast offerings, and I can't wait to return for more. Of course if you’re eating out, it’s about the food. As it should be! Today, for us, it was more about the exceptional service Laura provided. We were seated quickly with a smile. Beverages were brought right away while we perused the menu. We were so pleased that an all day breakfast was on offer, as we thought we might have missed the breakfast/lunch switchover window. I ordered a full breakfast: eggs, sausage, beans, smashed potatoes and sourdough toast. A Clamato juice too. My husband had a hearty bowl of oatmeal, a side of toast and a fresh fruit cup (which was the size of a cereal bowl!). Homemade strawberry jam on the side, and lots of piping hot coffee completed our meal. A great meal. But, I want to say this: a great server can turn a meal into an occasion. We were tired and more than a little dispirited by a recent move. We thought we’d be in and out in a hurry and get back at the “to-do” list. Instead we chatted with Laura as she came and went. Took our time. Were charmed by her good cheer. Were pampered, rather than rushed. Exhaled. Which was just what we needed on moving day. You should come here for a hearty breakfast or lunch. But you’ll become a regular because of Laura.

Stopped in here for lunch the other day and really enjoyed the food and service. We ordered a small Caesar salad with chicken which was very good, but the chicken was dry and overcooked. That's the only point I took off. We also had a skillet which was very good. The potatoes were very large, like baked or roasted potatoes though which is odd for a skillet, as they're usually done with home fries. Once I got past the oddity of it, it actually wasn't bad when paired with the hollandaise. The kids chicken and fries was very good as well. Service was awesome and prices are reasonable. The street is a bit loud when you're on the patio but still nice.

The meal itself was great! I got the burger, my friend got the chicken club and she loved it, fries were awesome. I reccomend the cesar salad and the burger.. however will note that the burger was a tad dry. Waitstaff could have been friendlier... rushed my friend and I a bit with our meals (there was nobody waiting for a table and there was plenty of time till close... no apparent reason to rush us) and the waitress seemed spaced out the whole time.

I just love eating at diners, especially this one after my first visit. No fancy and expensive meals, just good breakfast with an expansive selection or sandwiches and burgers just like the good old days. I was tempted for the breakfast selection but opted for a chicken club sandwich and fries. It was a very good club, the chicken was real not some processed version. Nice crisp bacon, lettuce and tomatoes along with a pickle and coleslaw. The service was excellent, and the coffee refills were a plenty. No need to ask, the waitress simply came by frequently and asked if I wanted a refill. Unfortunately, not too many diners provide this type of superb service anymore. Kudos to the Dunlop diner, I shall return.

In our many years of travel, we've hit quite a few diners, drive-throughs and dives. As far as dîners are concerned, this one definitely falls in the upper class category. Our "person" was Becky and she was amazing, kind and patient. I always ask the staff for their opinion on the top dishes and Becky went through all the key faves for us to choose from. My partner had the chicken sando with asiago and bacon, while I had the house burger with cheddar and bacon. They use brioche buns so right off the bat, this puts them in the upper category. Brioche buns are buttery and smooth compared to all others, which will either cut your upper palate or taste like dry sawdust. The fries and home fries were perfect - neither over or under cooked and made fresh. You didn't have the taste of potatoes, coated in corn starch to rob you of your potato craving. Portions are more than sufficient, so much that we took the potato's home for a later snack. The place is immaculate and airy. It is more pub-like with it's craft beers than dive-like diner. You HAVE to try the house hot sauce. It is locally made and has just enough zing for you to want more. Like a Frank's only better. "I put that $h!t on everything".

We actually went here two days in a row, and the first day was better than the second. I always order the traditional three eggs, home fries, toast and the meat. The eggs I ordered over easy, when it came I was pleased to see the whites cooked and the yellows jiggle. But when I broke into it, the egg white were also very runny, which I should have said over medium. I asked for crispy bacon and that's what I got, some toasted rye, a good marble rye, with some seeds in it, I enjoyed this, it was good bread. And then we had quite a bit of potatoes. Their homes fries were red skin potatoes that were smashed and fried, crispy on the outside and and soft on the inside. Very nice touch. I got coffee with my meal, where refills were endless, which is good cause the coffee was VERY dilute! My dining partner ordered the daily special, it came with caramelized onions, English muffin, hollandaise sauce, poached eggs, and we upgraded to the taters, but I can't remember what the meat was... the daily special was enjoyed, but the hollandaise sauce sauce had no flavour... it was extremely bland. Our waitress DoM was excellent! She was funny and extremely good at what she does. She got our order right for everything we asked, things came on time, coffee was constantly refilled, our bill came in a timely manner, we were quite pleased with our meal Saturday! Sunday was a little different. I ordered the usual breakfast with poached eggs this time, and it came out beautiful, fully cooked egg whites, soft yellows, just perfect! My home fries however were half the portion they were on Saturday morning, which was disappointing... but still the same great taste! Rye was the same and delicious, and my bacon crispy. My partner ordered the O-M-Brie, and enjoyed it very much!. Sunday was a busy day... I asked three times for jam before it came, or coffee cups were not refilled often.. but it's a huge restaurant with at least 12 patio table and two large sections on the inside. And Sunday brunch is a busy time. The waitress felt bad, but it looked like they needed a little more staff for the rush. We enjoyed our food both days this weekend and would highly recommend you check this place out for your self. Great spot in the middle of the city, seconds away from the water if you wanted to wonder around Barrie it's on the Main Street loaded with other shopping spots

Great food selections and presentations. Quality food options at a fair price. Clean modern decor with pleasant service. Worth the stop and many return visits for breakfast and lunch.

I can't explain how much I look forward to visiting the Dunlop Street Diner. It's always so good which is why it's my favourite breakfast spot in Barrie. The only difficult choice is what to order because their entire menu is so amazing! They have a fantastic variety of both traditional and unique breakfast items with something for everyone, including an impressive selection of Benedicts. They also have generous portion sizes. It's always quite busy (the sign of a great spot) but they recently expanded which should alleviate some of the wait times on weekends. If you go early or on weekday, you can usually get a table right away. They also have a great patio area in the summer.

Good food, but kind of pricey for what you get. If you're looking for good quality and taste, visit here. If you're looking for a good $$ deal, stay away.

We dropped in here when we went on a mini day-date with the baby at grandma's. For our own reasons, we hadn't been to a patio at all during the lockdown and hadn't brunched in just as long. Without a baby, we knew we had to take advantage of the situation... So, we turned to our trusty Yelp friends and sure enough, we were NOT disappointed. We squeaked in before a real queue started up and ALL of their eggs Benedicts looked delicious. I decided to go with the What the Cluck (fried chicken) and my husband got the Holy Cow (Angus beef) and we were in brunch heaven. First off (getting it out of the way), the home fries were SOLID. Perfectly crispy - if I had to guess, fried at least twice, maybe even thrice. The eggs (we asked for soft) were perfectly cooked and the vast difference in flavours between our dishes was wonderful. My eggs Benny had a hint of curry and on the side was a delightfully delicious chicken skin. The Holy Cow had my fav sautéed mushrooms and caramelized onions and there was heavy hand of mustard, not my fav but I'm sure good for those who like mustard. We can't wait to go back for another Benny, we'll just need another good reason for the trek. Also, it looked like they had shut down the street for a street fest - we would have liked to stroll around but we needed to get back to the city

Food was very good and portions were quite generous. My girlfriend and I were passing by Barrie on the way to Wasaga Beach and decided to stop by this restaurant for a quick brunch. Upon entering the establishment we were greeted warmly by the hostess and promptly brought to our table. Although we visited during the pandemic, we felt very safe as we witnessed all tables being cleaned and sanitized after each guest leaves, and all staff members were properly wearing face masks. Shortly after being seated, our waitress came and took our drink orders , which came out quickly. As she gave is out drinks, we ordered our mains. I had the reuben sandwich, and my girlfriend ordered the no bull hash. The reuben sandwich was great. Very flavourful and had a generous amount of meat. It was served on a nicely toasted rye bread, sauerkraut, and Swiss cheese. It also came with a coleslaw, a pickle wedge, and your choice of side (home fries, french fries, salad, or baked beans) for which I had chosen the french fries. Typically I am picky with my fries as I enjoy them cut thin, which this establishment does. If you are a fan of thick cut fries, these may not be the best for you but it hit the spot for me. The No bull hash came on a bed of home fries, topped with roast beef, arugula, beets, poached eggs, mushrooms, cheddar, and caramelized onion, topped with a hollandaise sauce. The portion size of this was quite generous, as my girlfriend was filled and had enough left for another meal. Taste was also amazing, though the roast beef was a tad bit on the tough side. Overall, it was a great dining experience with great food and a welcoming and kind crew. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and look forward to visiting it again when I am in the area.

Popped in on a rainy Sunday afternoon for brunch and the breakfast options were impressive. The atmosphere has a diner feel. I'd go so far as to say there's something for everyone - they offer gluten free and vegan options too! Everything was tasty - the one interesting note was the baked beans were more like chilli beans than traditional baked beans (usually sweeter). My boyfriend still ate them up without an issue! Oh! They also carry Terry's unique hot sauce, a local hot sauce that's one of the best I've tried. Overall, good service and good food. Worth stopping by for a bite if you're in the area.

The first thing I always do when I visit a new area is search out a diner and I was so happy I did. Dunlop street diner makes the best burger I've ever had. The beef was fresh and juicy , the brioche bun was perfectly toasted, the fries were hot and salty. I really can't wait to go back and try the breakfast.

Food was delicious as always but the atmosphere and service is lacking. Our waitress messed up our simple breakfast order. NOISY!!!!! The patrons, many were just loitering during the busy period, in fact the 50 minutes we waited, I never saw some of them even take a sip of coffee/tea let alone order food. Rather than deal with the loud patrons, the staff simply increased the volume of the music which only made it worse. No action when the staff were asked repeatedly to turn down the volume. Obviously we do not matter, so it will be awhile before we return.

Food was amazing! I was travelling to Barrie in business and this was our go to spot for the two days we were there. Fresh and delicious! Will definitely return if I'm ever back in town.

Excellent brunch. Sat at the bar and bartender was friendly, attentive and fun. Huevos Rancheros excellent and one of the best Caesar's I've ever had.

This is my favourite brunch spot! Their egg Benedict's are so delicious. I've tried almost every one and I haven't been disappointed yet. If you prefer sweet brunch, then you can't go wrong with any of their pancakes or French toast. This place is special, if you haven't been here, than you must try it!

This is a highly rated diner! The food is very good as well as the service. It's a good general place but it's not outstanding by any means Would I go out of my way to go there. No If I'm close it's a good place to go but I would not call it a destination restaurant Enjoy your time there but if you looking for something special I would keep looking

If you're looking for some solid brunch in Barrie, look no further than Dunlop Street diner! We came here with a fairly large group on an early Sunday afternoon and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, but tables were available pretty much right away for smaller groups. Once we were seated, the service was quick and welcoming, and we quickly got our coffees and juice on, and our entrees came shortly after we ordered. As for their food, there's a great selection of classic brunch items, from savoury egg Benedicts, sandwiches and skillets to sweet pancakes and waffles. I got the Spicy Hash skillet, which was delicious, flavourful, and generously portioned. My other friends got the DSD (Dunlop Street Diner) sandwich, the Veggie Hash skillet, the egg breakfasts, and the pancakes, which were all also great! Their homefries were also universally acclaimed by our table. All in all, with great, generous portions of all day breakfast, solid sandwiches, and free coffee refills, you can't go wrong with a stop at DSD!

On a snowy Saturday we found ourselves famished and looking for something or somewhere for breakfast on Barrie's waterfront. We thought we would be out of luck when we came across this spot on YELP. We entered out of the snow into a charming dinner. A great deal of care went into the renovations on this building. Our waitress, Heather, filled us in on all the home made menu items and we ordered. Home made baked beans, excellent, try the pork belly bacon, and I would come back just to sample more of the ample selection of Benedict's. Service is great. Food is great. Value is great! I would come here on a snowy Saturday morning in late March or a sunny Sunday in July.

The best breakfast potatoes I have ever had and they also make their hollandaise from scratch not a mix. DELICIOUS!!

It is in a good downtown Barrie location, had breakfast , classic menu and good quality. The staff were super friendly, pricing is reasonable, felt that it was good value.

Food is always excellent. If I pass through Barrie and have the time I always try and stop in. Burgers are excellent as is the appy's. Highly recommended YOU CANT LOSE!

One of the best breakfasts we've had in a LONG time, coffee excellent hot, traditional eggs Benny wicked good, scratch made Hollandaise, smashed potatoes excellent !!!! Wife's bacon and eggs were perfect and the homemade jam was awesome !! Great service, and better food !!

came by here because the menu online looked very interesting and it lived up to those standards!! the spicy has was good, fairly mild, had lots of rich hollandaise sauce which was balanced by the charred cherry tomatoes and caramelized onions. the peach cobbler french toast was so good, it wasn't too sweet and the flavours were soaked up by the brioche bread. the peameal benedict was decent, fairly average in barrie but they have lots of other interesting ones that should be given a try if you're going to dunlop street diner. overall, great experience, very clean restaurant and amazing service!

I just discovered this gem of a restaurant! They are open only for breakfast and lunch. I have been here 2x now and it was excellent both times. I had the reuben sandwich with zucchini soup the first time and Pork Belly eggs benedict the second time. The food is absolutely delicious and made with care. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I will be back again and again and again!

Even though I always just get the cheeseburger hash skillet, i still can't get enough of it. Delicious food at great prices.

Would love to see more vegan options on the menu we can eat bread too! My non vegan friends enjoy it and I'd love to join them.
