"Ok, so it lives in the lobby of a big hotel chain, but Drago's also happens to serve the best charbroiled oysters in town, the recipe for which was developed by a member of the family that's been running Drago’s since 1969. A lot of attention is paid to the freshness of seafood—everything from oysters to lobster to shrimp is caught and served same day. The gumbo is also pretty excellent."

New Orleans Top Tourist Traps That Are Actually Worth a Visit | Eater New Orleans

"The genius notion to add butter and garlic to a raw oyster’s natural brine, using the shell as a ready-made serving dish straight from the grill, is nothing short of brilliant. It occurred to Tommy Cvitanovich a couple of decades ago at Drago’s, his family’s revered oyster palace with an original location in Metairie that opened in 1969 and a very tourist-friendly location in the HIlton Riverside at the edge of the Quarter. Drago’s makes some of the best charbroiled oysters you’ll ever taste — juicy, topped with herbs and a blend of Romano and parmesan cheese, sizzling with butter." - Beth D’Addono

Great Experience at Drago’s in New Orleans Stopped in at Drago’s while in town for the GSX trade show — the place was absolutely packed, but the energy was great. I grabbed a seat at the bar and was impressed by how fast and friendly the service was, even with the crowd. Started with their famous grilled oysters, and they definitely lived up to the hype — smoky, buttery, and perfectly seasoned. Followed that with a steamed lobster, which was cooked just right and full of flavor. And the bread pudding. Wow, what can I say. Overall, a fantastic experience — great food, lively atmosphere, and top-notch service. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in NOLA!

We were a group of 4 and had a few of the items: The charbroiled oysters are truly the best in New Orleans- definitely miss it. Wish they would make the price more affordable cause a single person can easily have 6 all by themselves. Mama Ruth’s seafood gumbo had great flavors- mine just dint have much of seafood in it. Taste was great but even the bowl was a small portion I’d say. The Mediterranean catch- was a red fish that was so salty we had to return it. Fried Shrimp platter was great- perfect crispy, flavour and quantity.

Located right in the heart of downtown New Orleans, Drago’s Seafood Restaurant was the perfect stop for Night 2 after a long day of sightseeing, walking, and shopping. Of course, we came for their famous charbroiled oysters, and they absolutely lived up to the hype—rich, smoky, buttery, and unforgettable! The service and atmosphere were equally impressive—warm, welcoming, and relaxed. For a party of 8, the wait was about 30 minutes, which we found totally reasonable given how busy they were. Once seated, our food came out quickly and piping hot. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single bite was amazing. If you’re in NOLA and craving incredible seafood with great service in a lively setting, Drago’s should definitely be on your list!

Drago’s at the Hilton New Orleans has lost its spark. The food consistently misses the mark— oysters lack flavor, and the overall menu sounds delicious but food is always bland. The ambiance tries for mid upscale, but lands closer to a dressed-up chain vibe. Sadly, it’s no longer a spot I’d recommend. I did have a great Gentilly cocktail, besides that, I was not impressed.

Yo… My girl has been going on and on about this place ever since she came here a year ago with her mom so naturally we came on our first day down here. There has not been a culinary experience I’ve experienced that has consistently impressed me quite like this one. We started with the famous char-broiled oysters and the hurricane drink… absolutely spectacular. Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, the BBQ shrimp shows up. The BOMB of flavor that we experienced was OTHERWORLDLY. Then the BREAD PUDDING? Yo… the bread pudding. 😍🤤 nuff said. Best believe we will be back. This is the first restaurant I’m trying here and certainly not the last. The precedent that’s been set has me excited to try what else New Orleans has to offer!

Nola Gem located right off the main level of the Hilton Hotel and near plenty of action. The Riverfront is nearby and also Bourbon Street accompanied by plenty of shops, restaurants, fun & entertainment. The hotel/restaurant is on the busier side as it’s a nice size establishment. In my opinion I believe Drago’s is over-hyped by tourists. I enjoy food and visiting new places and am very fair on my takeaways. Drago’s wasn’t an experience to write home about. The food was pretty average and ok. Drago’s is known for their Oysters options. I love char boiled oysters and believe I have had better in the Nola. My family and I all like to order different dish’s to get a true feel on the restaurants food. Below is some of the food we ordered. Charbroiled oysters - Lobster Macaroni and cheese Fried gator bites - very fishy Shrimp and grits Grilled Shrimp Pasta - lacked flavor Red Beans & Rice

We were told it would be 20 minutes to clear table for our group of 8. Meanwhile several large groups were seated before us. When I spoke up, they claimed they forgot about us. If it were not for the group wanting to stay I would've left. How do you forget one large group but not the others? The food was just ok, but the oysters were very delicious 😋 Our total bill was $416 for 8 people which wasn't bad.

Drago's is hands down one of my favorite places to eat when I'm in New Orleans. I don't eat oysters anywhere else on Earth but here - and only the Charbroiled Oysters. They are perfectly seasoned and not slimy but also not too dry. I will eat them multiple times during a visit to the city. I like Caesar salads just fine but the version at Drago's is perfect. The croutons are light and easy to eat. On my most recent visit, someone ordered the Charbroiled Corn on the Cob and the Crabmeat Au Gratin Dip and they were both amazing. I've taken a good many people here during my visits and have never had anyone who didn't love everything they ordered. The service is always lovely and the drinks are good. They can be a little on the strong side but still really good. This time we had the French 75 and Sangria.

Yelp
Came here for lunch on a Sunday. Definitely wasn't busy, waited no more than 5 minutes. Great customer service. Ordered a dozen Drago's oysters. OMG, it was so good. Dipping the bread in the garlic sauce, is a must, so delicious. The crawfish mac and cheese was so good. Can't go wrong with sweet potato fries. The shrimp tacos were also good. No complaints here.

Yelp
The night started off well but slowly went downhill. I began at the bar with some good drinks, then was seated once my party arrived around 8:45pm. The host mentioned some servers had gone home, so we were placed in the bar area. Unfortunately, this meant the bartender was not only making drinks but also serving tables, which made it difficult to get his attention when we were ready to order. Our oysters took about 30 minutes to arrive (likely a missed order), though the entrées came out quickly, which was a plus. Overall, the main issue was just gaps in service due to the bartender being stretched too thin. If he wasn't managing both the bar and tables, I think the experience would have been much smoother. I do like Drago's, and I'll be back, just earlier next time to avoid this type of situation.

Yelp
This place was amazing! I went with a group of six people and all the food that we got was delicious. The tables are really small though for a group of six. Ambience is OK. It's really the tables that made it awkward. When you walk in and you go by where they are char- grilling the oysters that's really cool! Waiter was great! Had good suggestions on wine for me! I had the Joel Gott 815. The Mac daddy Trio is amazing! A little bit of everything. Loved the lobster, fillet, and the mac & cheese on it! My other friends had the two fillet mignon, the Mediterranean catch, the fried shrimp platter, the Maine lobster, and the seafood pasta, sautéed spinach, cornbread, the Oreo dessert, and the bread pudding dessert. I had a bite of almost everything and everything was delicious. The ones I didn't have a bite of they said were delicious.! I would go again.

Yelp
We waited about an hour to be seated. It's a normal steakhouse feel. The Chargrilled oysters and the Fleur De Lis Shrimp were really good! I ordered the Seafood Pasta and it was cooked to perfection just would have liked a little more seasoning. I tasted my cousins short rib and it was so tender and flavorful. She enjoyed it! My friend also enjoyed the shrimp and grits. It was very busy and our server wasn't very attentive possibly due to the shear volume of people. We had a decent experience and I would try it again if I'm in the area.

Yelp
Drago's is located in the New Orleans Hilton Riverside and is a great place to eat. There is a large bar area in the middle and plenty of tables around. The charbroiled oysters are excellent and have the best flavor. The gator bites and boudin balls are great too. I had the catfish platter which was more than enough. The catfish was fresh and cooked just right. The Lobster Marco is a great choice and is stuffed with flavor from the lobster, shrimp, pasta and cream sauce. We had an excellent dinner here and our server was excellent.

Yelp
Found this on IG! Added to our NOLA itinerary. Sooo worth it. Reservations were honored. Service was great. Location was great. Restaurant was very clean. Food was astonishing! Please get the crab dip! The oysters were, just ok in my opinion.

Yelp
The food was superb. Nice atmosphere and good service! We started out with the Fried Gator Bites. Super crispy and delicious. Hubby had a cup of Mama Ruth's Seafood Gumbo. He said it was good but not much seafood. Everyone picked something different. Crabmeat Mediterranean Salad, Seafood Pasta, Shrimp Ruth and Mediterranean Catch which was redfish that day. Everything was delicious. Give this place a try! There's several locations.

Yelp
Was totally shocked we were able to snag a reservation on the fly as we did! From the time we entered until we left, service was great! Very welcoming staff! We had raw oysters on the half shell, charbroiled oysters, and the short rib! Everything was great!! The oysters were big, clean and satisfying! The short rib was tender and the potatoes were silky smooth! Would definitely return here upon another trip!

Yelp
I would give them a 7/10. They actually had really good kids pasta Alfredo. The chargrilled oysters were the worst we had during our trip. They were drowning in butter, literally in a bathtub of salted butter which made them almost inedible they were so salty. Hard pass on those unless you don't want ten times you daily sodium limit. Go to ACME Oyster House instead for chargrilled oysters. Now the short rib over mashed potatoes was good but the best was the shuckee duckee. Great dish, duck leg is fried and out over Alfredo pasta with oysters in a fresh cream sauce. I added lump crab meat. Oh, the fried alligator was decent too. This was better than other places because it wasn't fried to death as we had at some other places.

Yelp
Drago's is where it all started -- the birthplace of the chargrilled oyster, and you can taste the legacy in every bite. I stopped in just for the chargrilled oysters, and they absolutely delivered: buttery, garlicky, smoky, and served piping hot right off the grill. They're rich and indulgent, with that signature flame-licked flavor and pools of melted Parmesan you'll want to sop up with every piece of French bread on the table. It's easy to see why these oysters became iconic. The location inside the Hilton is convenient (if not exactly atmospheric), and the service was quick and efficient. You're not here for ambiance -- you're here for the original. It's my #3 oyster spot in New Orleans, behind Acme and Deanie's, but still a must-visit if you want to taste the OG that kicked off the chargrilled oyster craze.

Yelp
Delicious oysters and a show! Very friendly chefs and servers. I recommend you sit at the bar for the best experience. Gulf oysters are huge and flavorful, especially when grilled over the fire with their butter/garlic/parm/breadcrumb sauce!

Yelp
We like the grill oysters & steak. The crawfish was Ok for us. The mac & cheese also good. The gumbo soup was a bit salty to our taste bud, but it would be perfect for people like salty food. The service & atmosphere were good. I would recommend to ordered the grill oysters & the trio meal again if we come back to this place.

Yelp
My cousin hyped up Drago's from before we left to NOLA until we were finally sitting at their bar. I see why she did this as their food lives up to the hype. The restaurant was super crowded because of Essence Fest, so we ended up getting seats from two people at the bar. The bartender took our orders and it took no time for our food to come out pipping hot. From the first bite to the last my shrimp and grits was so yummy. The shrimp were medium sized and softly cooked. I liked that there was a balance of them and the grits. Both ingredients did not over power each other--such a great balance. Only thing I would add to my dish is a little more heat and spice. Otherwise the shrimp and grits was delicious as well as the shrimp alfredo pasta. They give you enough for two meals, so be ready to share or to take home leftovers.

Yelp
It's a 3.5 star I heard the hype for this place so we went. The gator tacos and boudin balls were good. I thought the oysters were way too salty and the gumbo was OK. I

Yelp
5 star charbroiled oysters and meh to everything else. The cup of gumbo was mostly rice, the BBQ shrimp was was in this super thick and salty sauce, the bread for dipping was dry and stale, and the hurricane cocktail was blah and just tasted like alcohol. I thought the atmosphere would have been nicer being in the Hilton, but was just kinda open and casual. Our waitress was great and friendly! The star was the Charbroiled Oysters. I am partial to Felix's on Bourbon Street, but these lived up to the hype from some fellow Yelpers. I'd go back for these but skip everything else, including drinks! Maybe a bottled beer.

Yelp
My husband and I went here based upon my friend's recommendation and the hotel bellhop's recommendation. The very best thing here are the oysters. We definitely wished we got the full dozen oysters instead of the half dozen. We definitely liked the alligator bites, which were tender and not greasy. We loved the Shuckee Duckee. Now with the McDaddy Trio, that's where the problems started. My husband ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it came with mushroom gravy, both of which were delicious. He said that the lobster tail was slightly cold, and the cheese sauce on the cup of crawfish mac and cheese was burnt and had split from sitting in the hot plate window for too long. The waitress got a fresher crawfish mac and cheese that was not burnt, but it was still not as great as he thought it should be because the cheese sauce was still split on the second cup. I ordered a Swamp Water cocktail, and my husband ordered 2 Abita Ambers. Our waitress was great and very patient as it was our first time there. The atmosphere was great. It is also very busy on Friday night, and the tables filled up pretty quickly. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time like we did to get a table.

Yelp
We went to Drago's because my work associate remembered having the char-grilled oysters and loved them. I looked forward to trying them with such high remarks from my friend. Of course we had the oysters for appetizers. I thought they were ok. Full disclosure, I'm spoiled when it comes to char-roasted oysters because I grew up eating them at the "oyster beach" (North Beach, Point Reyes, CA) as a kid. We grilled them over an open fire pit, popped them on slices of sourdough baguette, and drizzled them with garlic butter. At Drago's, they cover the oysters with a bread crumb filled with garlic butter. I could do without the breading but I get why people like it. My biggest complaint was the size of the actual oyster--quite tiny compared to the topping and shell, and the amount of shell in my oysters. No one wants shell bits in their oyster bite! We also split the lobster Caesar and a red fish cooked Mediterranean style. The Caesar had a full lobster split in half making it easy to share, and the lobster was good, but slightly dry. The fish was ok, served with a caper lemon butter sauce and tomatoes, but tasted fishy to me. It was served with super yummy roasted tiny potatoes (my fav part of the meal!) and spinach. Overall, it was an ok meal but with so many amazing places to eat in NOLA, I wouldn't seek this place out.

Yelp
Was in town for a conference and a friend was staying in the hotel upstairs. We stopped in for lunch on one of the conference days and decided to try the chargrilled oysters. In addition to that, we ordered a crabmeat grilled cheese as well as a catfish platter and dug in. The oysters deserve a paragraph of their own. They are grilled to perfection and was quite honestly one of the best seafood dishes I've ever had. I've only ever had oysters one other time in my life and it was not a good time but I really wanted to try this and I'm glad I did. And use that bread to sop up ALLLL that buttery saucy goodness. Next was the grilled cheese. Don't judge it by its simple appearance - that was pretty good. The warm dip that came with it made it even better. The catfish platter was also delicious, but how could you not enjoy a plate of fried food? Our server was friendly and we were seated quite quickly. I must have been sitting near an air vent because I did get a bit chilly from the AC blowing on me the entire time, but survived. Would definitely recommend, even if just for the oysters!

Yelp
We visited Drago's with a large group for a bachelorette party and were really looking forward to the experience. While the atmosphere was fun, the service was a bit underwhelming for a large party. One of our guests has dietary restrictions (gluten-free and dairy-free), and it would have been helpful if the staff had been more informed or able to offer suggestions or adjustments. That said, the charbroiled oysters were the star of the show -- absolutely delicious and definitely the highlight of our visit. I had the lobster meal, which looked great, but the lobster meat was a little dry for my taste. Overall, I'd come back just for the oysters and hope for a more attentive experience next time, especially when it comes to accommodating special dietary needs.

Yelp
No complaints here. We stopped in for lunch on a quiet Sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar and the bartender was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The menu hosts a LOT of interesting food options but the blackened gator tacos are what caught my eye. They were super delicious without being too gamey and they were the appropriate portion for the price. My fiancé got the filets and I tried his meal and it was also excellent. The location is convenient to the Hilton and a lot of other nearby attractions. I think you can also use casino comps there but I would double check on that one. Overall, a great place to dine!

Yelp
This restuanut was the main focus of our Foodie Trip In New Orleans! We came here to try their LEGENDARY Chargrilled Oysters that were invented in 1993. Location: It's located INSIDE A HILTONS, and they have parkings around the corner/street. Reservations: I booked a reservation prior to coming here on a busy Saturday night and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. Highly recommended making a reservation as this place was PACKED! Service: Our server was attentive and quick considering how big her section was! She was sweet and memorized our order by memory! She was truly a gem. Our food came out promptly and correctly. Ambiance: Upon walking around the venue, it was amazing and fun to see their open grill set up with huge flames coming out! It was truly so exhilarating to see our food being cooked! It was like a dinner and a show. A lively modern style downtown Hub. Food: Of course the star of the show was the FAMOUS and original Chargrilled Oysters but we had to try a few other delicacy on their menu and they did not disappoint!! Here's what we ordered: -Drago's Original Charbroiled Oysters $28.96 a DOZEN: A buttery concoctions of garlic & herbs, on fresh oysters with a blend Parmesan and Romano cheese cooked in their shell on a hot flaming grill. Served with french bread and lemons to soak up all that buttery goodness sauce! Truly you can see and taste the love that goes into these oysters. -Raw Oysters on half shells $13.95 half dozen: Super fresh and served with lemons and cocktail sauce. -Blackened Gator Tacos $15.95: Blackened gator meat with arugula, pico de gallo and Cajun aioli in fresh soft flour tortilla. These are the perfect introductory dish for people who never had gator meats. The gator meats are so plump and moist which paired perfectly with the fresh arugula and pico de gallo. My husband adored these tacos! Cup of Chicken & Andouille Sausage Gumbo $8.95: The most underwhelming gumbo I've gotten in NOLA. Sadly, I had one tiny piece of Sausage in the cup but the flavors were somewhat decent. There was more rice than Gumbo. For the price and portion it wasn't worth it here. Next time I'd try the Étouffée. Charbroiled Corn On the Cob $5.95: Sounds simple but honestly PACKED with flavors! It was the perfect side dish as it adds compliments of sweetness with the savoriness of the other dishes we ordered! The butter aioli sauce was the perfect touch. ****** Menu Selections: Dragos had an EXTENSIVE and DIVERSE menu even catering to VEGANS! They had so many options that you're bound to find something that fancies your tastebuds! Ranging from seafoods, salads, pastas, steaks, to tacos! It seemed like endless choices! The perfect place to cater and have special occasions! Overall, a GEM to visit whenever you're in NOLA! Can't wait to comeback and get more chargrilled oysters!! Had such an amazing experience that made it the PERFECT date night with my husband! I wish we had Drago's in Las Vegas, I'd honestly go once a week!

Yelp
Those chargrilled oysters are fantastic!!! Buttery goodness! What an experience to watch the chefs prepare them! Service was good - very attentive My wife had the small salad with crabmeat - very good! I'll go back for those oysters any day!

Yelp
OYSTERS Anyone? If you like charbroiled oysters you have to try Dragos. Service was good for being such a busy place and the rest was clean and bumping. A MUST TRY WHEN IN NEW ORLEANS

Yelp
Well back to one of my favorite places where good food is everywhere. We decided to try this spot. To start our waitress (Carolyn) was fantastic, she provided great suggestions and ensured everything came out as expected. Let's get into it the food here is like that. Oyster of course. Go for the Charbroiled oysters you will not be disappointed. The favor is off the charts you will want more if you love oysters. Another great choices the Fleur De Lis Shrimp. For the main course hands down some of the favorites Seafood Gumbo, Shrimp N Grits and the Fish N Grits. Overall it's a must visit

Yelp
We didn't expect the raw oysters to taste so good! Had drinks and half dozen raw and half dozen grilled. These oysters taste so good, so fresh! Bellied up to the bar and had fun watching them grill

Yelp
Gratuity is not an option on pickup order if you're staying in hotel. That's ridiculous to charge gratuity on just placing an order! You've lost quite a few customers over this non sense. The food is high priced enough but to charge 18% for someone to take an order, come on. Not to mention how tiny the twin steaks are. Def not 8oz.

Yelp
I saw the Metarie location of Drago's on DDD, so when I found out Drago's has a location in N'Awlins, I said I gotta try it. I had a cup of the seafood gumbo, and 1/2 dozen sig charbroiled oysters. The gumbo seemed under seasoned, so I added some Tabasco, and it tasted much better. On the other hand, the oysters were the best charbroiled ones I had on the trip. The combination of seasoning and the sauce created by it all, was great for mopping up with the bread. The only downside is there was some bits of shell w/ the oysters. My waitress was friendly at first. However, she was inattentive bc she never checked on me, and I had to ask her for a drink refill. Lastly, she didn't thank me when she brought the bill. Regarding the ambiance, its big at this location in the Waterfront Hilton. However, the restaurant shares the center w/ the hotel bar. I asked to sit at the "bar", and was told it was entirely separate from the restaurant. All in all, a positive experience bc of the oysters. However, I would like to go to the original location in Metarie (a suburb of N'Awlins.

Yelp
From expectations comes disappointments and that is what happened today with Drago's. The waiter was not the nicest, the oysters were over seasoned and took away from the actual oysters, pasta had a lot of sauce and not enough shrimp, we got charged for stale bread, the mashed potatoes were cold, drinks were not refilled unless asked once they were done and we had waited. The ambiance was nice compared to other restaurants we visited. We walked or took Ubers during this trip so I'm not sure what the parking situation is.

Victoria E.

Yelp
Had dinner here as it was attached to the hotel. We were seated pretty quickly even though we didn't have a reservation, and it was packed during dinner time. I had the gator bites and seafood pasta. I was disappointed with the gator bites, as it felt way more breaded than I should've been and it was salty. I would suggest getting gator bites elsewhere if you're having it for the first time - this certainly didn't do it justice. The seafood pasta was decent. I enjoyed the variety of seafood, and it was very generous portion. Overall, a decent experience especially given its convenience being in the hotel.

Yelp
This is a very busy place, the service was acceptable but could have been much better, and this is just based in what I heard someone say to my server (another employee). I ordered appetizers only ... spinach dip and Boudin balls and they were both great. Others in my party also raved about their food. Grilled oysters and buffalo shrimp. I will visit again on a future visit to the big easy.

Yelp
We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and they were able to seat us right away. This restaurants is huge! Our server was nice. I came here in search for the best char grilled oysters in Nola and these were not it. The oysters were tiny in the shells drowned out and overpowered by fake parmesan cheese. The gumbo, crawfish's étouffée, the shrimp and grits, the boudin balls, and seafood Alfredo were ok. The shrimp and grits were different I've never had it in tomato sauce and the boudin balls were nice too with a nice little spice. The Alfredo could've used a little more fresh parm. Maybe it was this location or the day, but sadly this wasn't for me.

Yelp
BBQ OYSTERS!!! First timer and wow, delicious and especially here with a garlic butter. OMG! They may take awhile but they are fresh off the Q. Waitress was fun and playful. Love that type of personality. Nothing fancy interior but busy. Chose the crawfish fest because.... when in Rome! In order of taste, from ok to best, the etouffe, mac-n-cheese, and the cake! The cake was surpisingly the best. Absolutely Yelplicious! Lots of seafood/Cajun options here to try again but the BBQ oysters will bring me back. Desserts were also good but that brownie..... bedtime for Bonzo! Yummmmmy. Bread pudding was just ok but I'm not normally a fan.

Yelp
Was staying at the Hilton and was told these are the best charbroiled oysters in NOLA so I came for lunch. I didn't think they were very good. The garlic sauce is tasty, but it just tastes greasy overall. The fresh oysters and sweet potato fries were delicious. The service was minimal with lots of people standing around. With all the delicious places to eat in NOLA, I was annoyed that I wasted a meal here.

Yelp
Drago's was super busy, but we were lucky to grab a great seat at the bar. The bartender was so nice and attentive, which made us feel well taken care of. The atmosphere was intimate with cozy, dim lighting that set the mood perfectly. We ordered the gator bites, gumbo, and a Caesar salad -- all were fresh, flavorful, and delicious. Great food, great service, and a really enjoyable experience overall.

Yelp
Date of visit: December 19, 2025 We wanted a quick meal before heading over to the Orpheum for the Louisiana Philharmonic's holiday concert and that Drago's was in the hotel made it easy to accomplish this task. The hostess was very friendly and the extended walk over to our table highlighted just how giant the restaurant is. I wasn't crazy about the hallway that we were seated in, though it did position us closer to the kitchen so there were some benefits to being seated where we were. Freddie our server was very deferential to my friend, but practically ignored me, which I found odd (the fact that I was paying notwithstanding) but I didn't let it spoil the meal for me, as some of the food did that all on its own. First, the bad: the spinach dip. The dip was flavorless and the chips were the most bland tortilla chips I've ever had; I picture a bag in the kitchen, completely white in color except for the words "tortilla chips" that these must have come out of to be this lousy. On the other hand, my friend really enjoyed her Hurricane and we loved the lobster mac and cheese; it apparently stole all of the flavor from the spinach dip! We enjoyed the lobster mac so much that we got a second order to bring back for my friend's daughter to enjoy in the room.

Yelp
I didn't care for this visit. I'd been frequenting this location for years, and the quality of food/ drinks has gone down. Our first batch of chargrilled oysters had to be sent back. There was hardly any cheese and butter on it, and a whole lot of overpowering herbs. Our waiter was gracious enough to take back and get the kitchen to make us another dozen. They were better, but still not up to the standard set by previous visits. Additionally, my drink came out lukewarm. The waiter was our saving grace, but based on this last visit, I will not be rushing to come here again any time soon.

Yelp
Came back to this restaurant after 10 years--and it was a nostalgic return! Located inside the Hilton Hotel, the space definitely has that classic, old-school charm. You can tell it's been around for a while, but everything was clean and well-kept. Service was excellent--friendly and attentive without being overbearing. We were pleasantly surprised by the food, especially considering some of the mixed reviews. The charbroiled oysters were just as good as we remembered--still a solid choice. The shrimp platter was generously portioned, and the seafood pasta came loaded with meat and flavor. And don't leave without getting a pitcher of the Sangria La--refreshing and perfect for sharing. Overall, we left happy and satisfied. A great way to revisit a NOLA favorite!

Yelp
Great service, exceptional food and electric setting in the middle of the Hilton hotel. I really enjoyed my angel hair Chicken Alfredo and it may even be the best I've ever had in a restaurant setting! The chicken was crispy, the sauce was creamy and the pasta was cooked to the perfect texture. My server was also super awesome, going out of her way to check my gift card balance and provide me with extra bread for dipping. 7/10, I definitely recommend this location if you happen to find yourself in the CBD area or close to the French Quarter.

Yelp
So excited to eat in a hotel restaurant. Yes you rad that correctly. Dragons is based on the first floor of the Hilton. They are known for the charbroiled oyster. We started with a dozen oysters that were delicious. Loved dipping the bread in the melted butter and garlic. The house salad was nice and a good size. The Caesar side salad had the most light and delightful croutons. Unfortunately there was a bit too much dressing on the salad to really enjoy it. The fried shrimp platter was nice as well. The shrimp were plump and tasty. There were 2 onion rings and a tone of French fries. More than filling to The staff were very attentive and nice.

Yelp
Mom wanted to meet with fam (and her better half) who live in NOLA, and fam suggested we meet here for lunch. PERFECT: Because I had no intentions of leaving NOLA without at least trying this place! (I had eye'd it for weeks before coming through.) I strongly advised Mom, Hubbers and Big Bro that we walk because what better way is there to workup an appetite! Our directions said about 25 minutes, but we were about 5 minutes early (ten minutes before opening.) The wait didn't feel that long, though, everything was timed right. Met with Uncle and Auntie and our party of 6 got seated immediately. (We had reservations, but at opening hour, we didn't expect we needed it. More like a just in case thing since they are popular.) I had the chance to browse through the menu and I thought I knew what I wanted, but! I was surprised I wasn't as hungry as I expected even after that mile walk. I knew my party was gonna order apps and also knew the Lobster Marco was going to be too much food. Luckily, Big Bro felt the same and was also eyeing the same dish, so we decided to split it. DRAGO'S ORIGINAL CHARBROILED OYSTERS: An absolute must-have here. It's what they're also known for. The seasoning is not as heavy as some I've already had at other places. The toppings are still rich in flavor but didn't really take away from the main flavor of the oyster. And using bread to absorb all that buttery goodness, it's almost a sin! We all liked it so much, we ordered another... and another! RAW OYSTERS ON THE HALF SHELL: Love me some freshly shucked oyster. I'm not one to really add anything - be it hot sauce or lemon. I like having it as is: fresh and delicious. What I like even more about this is that it had ZERO teenee shell remnants (at least not on the ones I had.) Nice! BOUDIN BALLS: Decent crunch on the outside, super soft on the inside. The crunch really is the only difference but the taste is what one expects. It's easier to eat vs the regular sausage kind, though, so that's a plus. The sauce was a good addition to the bites as well. FRIED GATOR BITES: You ever hear people saying it tastes like chicken? It's pretty close, I think, but I thought there was a slight difference to taste and texture (very slight.) They seasoned the breading nicely on this app. Comes with a mayo dip. Good, but nothing to call home about. LOBSTER MARCO: Unless you plan on having leftovers, try to limit your app intake if you plan on ordering this dish: it is plenty for two! Kinda glad Big Bro and I were splitting it because it really is a lot! The pasta was a perfect al dente. The shrimp and mushroom stuffing were seasoned well with the very light sauce. They were also generous with the size of the lobster which was cooked nicely. CRAWFISH FEST: Shared by another, I got to try a bite of each kind, and each one was different from the other. it's also pretty generous in terms of amount of crawfish meats. This, too, like the Lobster Marco, can be shared with another. FOOD: 5. SERVICE: 5. I forgot the name of our server, but she was perfect! VALUE: 4. Pricey, but fair. PARKING: Located at the Hilton, I'm sure they have valet. OVERALL: 4.75. Good food and good company make a great experience. We sure had the best of both on this first run. It's a great place to celebrate special occasions or just random weeknight date. Highly recommending!

Yelp
I love love love the charbroiled oysters! Very very flavorful and it originated from this restaurant, the gator tacos was very delicious too I think this place is a must visit when visiting New Orleans. It's by the river walk and the casino so not far from other tourist spots I recommend getting the oysters for sure and tacos if you're adventurous enough to try alligators

Yelp
Perfectly situated in the bottom of one of the nicest hotels I've stayed in while visiting New Orleans, this place is a must visit for any meal. I brought my Dad to New Orleans with me this time and made a point to take him to Drago's and he loved it so much that we ate there twice. Drago's has a ton of seating, and they need every bit of it. I highly recommend making reservations but even without them, the wait isn't terrible. The staff is friendly and vibrant and especially well dressed. They are attentive to you the entire time. They are best known for their charbroiled oysters and for good reasons. The oysters alone are worth more than 5 stars. I am generally an oyster on the half shell kind of guy, but I tried the charbroiled ones, and I was not disappointed. We had oysters several times while we were in NOLA and these were by far the largest ones we had during our entire trip. I also had the grillades and grits. AMAZING! The veal was juicy and tender, and the grits were cooked to absolute perfection. On the second trip, I had a seafood platter, and it was as delicious as any dish I've had at Drago's before. Any future trips to NOLA will 100% include at least 2 trips to Drago's. This place has got to be on everyone's NOLA visit list for at least 1 meal. A note about my New Orlean's review: Back in December of 2024, my family lost the most loving and selfless woman you could ever imagine. My mom passed away after many years of suffering with botched scoliosis surgeries, crippling rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple stomach ulcer surgeries brought on by all the medications. My entire family, especially my Dad, have been crushed by her loss. My Dad builds street rods and he and my mom used to travel to all the car shows everywhere they could once they became empty nesters and dad retired. One of the shows they used to go to was in Biloxi, MS. Every year they went, my dad would talk about how they wanted to go to New Orleans. Unfortunately, every time they went, something would happen to prevent them from going. I promised my Dad that I would get him to New Orleans to see the city and visit the WWII Museum. The trip was memorable, and I got to spend priceless time with the man who made me who I am today. New Orleans did not disappoint, and I am forever thankful for the city of New Orleans!

Yelp
Dragos was meh. We came on a recommendation from our Lyft driver. The chargrilled oysters were solid not great, kinda small. Service was very slow and the guy was supposed to bring us more bread then never showed up and someone came and took our plates. We also split the boudin balls I think they were okay not the warmest but the sauce was tasty. My wife got a spicy margarita of sorts which was decent nothing to write home about. It's in a hotel lobby basically so the vibe is just kinda strange. We won't be back, many other better places to get the same style of food way better with better vibes and service.

Yelp
I'm usually skeptical of going to restaurants inside hotels because they're usually overpriced for the food quality. This is not the case for Drago's. We sat at the bar for dinner after a long day at a work conference. The vibe is a mix of modern but flexible; you can fit in whether you're dressed to impress, or if you're just stopping by for a quick bite. The service was good. Our server was very polite but I wouldn't say it was over the top. The food is what made the experience. We had the oysters that were grilled with garlic and butter. You can see the staff grilling the oysters from the bar. They were fabulous! We as had the gator bites. They were good but a little chewy. The duck and andouille sausage gumbo was also very good. I was surprised because duck can be a little greasy, but it gave the gumbo a nice flavor. Lastly, we ended the evening with the bread pudding and was probably the best bread pudding I've had in New Orleans. It was warm and had mix of crunchy and soft textures. All in all, I was very happy with what we ordered. I would definitely come back for the oysters next time I'm in NOLA.

Yelp
Drago's Seafood Restaurant was a decent experience, but it didn't quite live up to the hype. The food itself was good--especially the charbroiled oysters--but the portion sizes were smaller than expected, and the prices felt a bit too high for what we got. Service was okay, nothing particularly bad, but nothing memorable either. It just felt a bit rushed and impersonal. While Drago's is worth trying once, if you're looking for better value and a more satisfying overall experience, I'd recommend Felix's Restaurant & Oyster Bar instead. The food there is just as good--if not better--and you definitely get more bang for your buck.
