I met up with a friend here in May. The place us cozy and cramped. The coffee was good. They also had a decent enough selection of snacks to go with your coffee. As you can see from.my pics they have other items they sell. The service wasn't great, nor friendly. They didn't even try to promote any if the pastries. I was disappointed in that they served on a paper cup rather than a ceramic cup one would expect. I find that paper cups negatively affect the taste of coffee and the whole experience. Being on the Danforth, paid street parking is available if you can find it. Also, you get the added entertainment bonus from the eclectic range of pedestrians. Check this place out if your strolling the area.

Been here a few times, solid baked goods. Have tried a few of the sweets, savoury items and loaves, all are fresh, good quality and reasonably priced for the city. Also one of the better Kouign Amanns I’ve had in Toronto (crispy, not too sweet or sticky, and very light/flaky).

Love love love dough bake shop! Very friendly staff, who are always nice and attentive when we drop by. The pastries and baked goods are incredible — so are the breakfast sandwiches and lattes. Highly recommend! I haven’t tried everything, some things I’m really hoping to try soon like the quiches (which look right out of a picture book!) but I can recommend the danishes, lemon tarts and brownies a thousand times. They also have a pantry section and a fridge section, which always has things such as eggs, butter, soups, frozen foods, if anyone is interested in those.

The chocolate almond croissant was not to my liking, it kinda tasted as if it was a vegan/gluten-free pastry,,, it tasted off and not like the real thing (even though I think it was a regular pastry). The iced latte was good! Although they asked me how I wanted my latte made and if I wanted my latte made with milk, cream or sugar. I was kind of confused because I thought lattes were made with milk, so I ordered it with milk and a bit of sugar. It turned out good!

Bakery has a surprising variety given the small space. First visit. Key lime pie is delicious, filling balances flavour with creaminess without getting too sweet, crust has deep buttery notes that contrast nicely. It kept very well in freezer and still had great texture when defrosted (see pic - the dry lime slice did release a few drops onto the custard, for optimal I’d pluck it off and defrost separately). I also got a ginger cookie which was good. Will return to try more products like nanaimo, carrot cake, and others. Note: bakery only, no seating.

Just had one of the best scones ever at this place, so fluffy and tasty 😋🤌 The latte is also very tasty! And the ladies working there were super kind! Thank you so much :)

I ordered a few items for Christmas (frozen) so we’ll see what those are like! The presentation is excellent. I also had a chicken salad sandwich and it was EXCELLENT! I look forward to updating about the baked goods! 😊

I've been here a few times to pick up some dessert items. I've tried the pumpkin pie, Nanaimo bar, lemon Square, brownie, date square and most recently thier carrot cake. I can't quite place it but they all lack something. They look really good but after a couple of bites I just throw them out because they are pretty much tasteless. Like I'm eating some terrible vegan desert. And for what they charge, I expect alot more. Fortunately a new place on the Dani has opened called Sweet Addictions that I tried for the first time yesterday. Excellent baked treats at a reasonable price too. This will be my goto from now on. Sorry Dough, you've finally been replaced.

Yes it's expensive which is why I expect my food to not be dry or burnt and unfortunately, for the last few months, that's how I receive the items when I get home. It's getting to the point where you have to hand pick the items from the display otherwise you're not getting a good slice.

Was walking on the way to another bakery on the Danforth and this place was buzzing, people staying inside and eating outside on the muskoka patio chairs, so I had to stop on in. The place was accessible (I was able to get in with ease with a stroller) and everyone was very friendly. I was on the way to get a loaf of bread so thats what caught my eye first. They had 2 sourdough options , original and rustic and I opted for the rustic. Then we had to grab a pastry as they all looked delicious. As we were leaving I couldn't help but notice their pantry and frozen foods section (which they all make in house) so I grabbed their mac and cheese to go as well. Overall great place and will come back to try more!

Had a quiche and butter tart from this bakery. Quiche was okay but would have been better warmed up and with cutlery which was not provided (I didn't ask because I had some from the previous night in my backpack). Butter tart was super sweet and kind of drippy. Would try other things if returning.

We were walking by Dough and a miracle happened: no line! There's always a lot of people at this place when we walk by, so to have only one person in front of us, well, it was a sign to finally try what this bakery has to offer. And I get why this place is so popular: tasty baked goodies at reasonable prices with quick and friendly service. We got: - Croissant sandwich: This was super cheesy, which I loved. The croissant was also soooooo buttery and properly flakey. - Carrot cupcake: Really really moist with a really thick icing topping. A bit too heavy for me, but you definitely get your money's worth. - Coconut cream pie: While I would have liked the coconut taste to be just a tad stronger, the cream was light and airy while the crust was just the right level of nutty sweet. Also, you can pre-order in advance since they sell out often. I get why, because Dough is a good one.

Great bakery. I have tried their sandwiches (tuna on "challah" bun - yum! ) and their sweets and pasteries - honestly I love butter tarts and this is one of the best in the city - just a hint of maple and perfect filling that does not have any artificial thickeners. I was unsure about the challah - but it is excellent (and they have crown challah for high holidays). Definitely order in advance (by three the day before)

Egg salad sandwich was salty filling on sweet bread. As u can see.. this 9 dollar egg melted onto my phone. But that's ok because now my camera has an egg filter. The cashier seemed to be having a rough day. Maybe he fell into the hole of a Dough- nut. Tasty lemon tart

I obtained the butter tart and lemon square. The tart I ate it was okay. Butter... The lemon square however was lemon. And good. I liked it, super sweet however. The cashier was a little moody, maybe he wanted the lemon sqaure I obtained. Sorry

Light, flaky, buttery? NO!! Avoid DOUGH if you crave an authentic croissant. Staff is friendly, but these lumps of damp, dense dough are anything but airy & palatable. They're authentic in name & shape only, & cost $4.75! Further along Danforth you can find delicious, genuine Viennoiserie at a lovely, actual French shop where divinely airy croissants are $3.75.

We were looking for some desserts after lunch and found this gem. We had gluten free chocolate cake and pecan pie square. The chocolate cake was so delicious, it was so rich, unlike other gluten free cakes. Pecan pie was nice according to my husband (I couldn't try it as I am gluten free) we also had mocha which was nice too. I wish they had more gluten free options tho...

Just had pumpkin pie from Dough, and it was amazing. We decided that it had to be the best pumpkin pie we've ever had. Perfect consistency and flavour with just the right amount of cinnamon and spices. The crust was a marvel. Would ABSOLUTELY recommend!

Friendly service & great smiles. Everything looks so delicious here, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you pick sweet or savory. But if there's one thing you like to try and have a sweet tooth. I'd recommend the butter tart. Also, this is more of a grab & go kinda place. They have very few seats on a high stool by the window.

I came to Dough initially for there sandwiches but they were sold. My sister has gotten sandwiches here before and mentions how great they are. I'd say get here early because this place is always crowded. Their pastries are delicious and they have so many different things from sweet to savory! You could stock up on their refrigerated goods for a simple lunch or dinner. I would suggest you calling and reserving something if it's for something important. The space itself is pretty small so it's mainly a pick up and leave sort of spot but they do have 3/4 seats by the window. If you're in the area you should stop by it's a great place!

Still my favourite bakery! I am addicted to their Basque Cakes. I buy the large ones when I have company. But I buy two of the small ones ( big enough for 2 people) monthly. Their challah is perfect for French toast! But the new star in their show, imho is their southern style cornbread! A couple of different flavours such as cheese and jalapeño or plain. I buy it weekly to have with chilli or barbecue! The staff here are amazing each and everyone of them. They treat you like members of their extended family. They also take phone reservations so you can order what you want or, if you are running late, to make sure that they will save your desired item for you happily.

I absolutely love this bakery! What's really great is during this pandemic they are still doing special orders with a few days notice. They make a lemon meringue pie in two different sizes that is absolutely to die for. I bought one for my dad because it brings him back to what his mom used to make him as a child. He took one bite and started to cry. The customer service is fabulous and they make a great Americano! The breakfast sandwiches are delicious and come in both meat and vegetarian options. I would also recommend the scones that come in both sweet and savory options. I highly recommend this fabulous gem in Riverdale!

This bakery is run by the nicest people. Superwoman and I got here just as they were closing on a Sunday and they let us in, seeing our very sad faces in the door, LOL. I'm so glad they did, because their products are delicious and made in-house - you'd be surprised how many bakeries don't make their own products! I got their muffin of the day, which was a pumpkin cranberry muffin made with, I think spelt flour. It was SO fluffy, it was perfectly spiced, and most impressively, the sweetness was just right - not cloying at all. It felt really light and airy. It was SO good. I also got their cinnamon bun, which was delicious, much denser than the muffin, and also appropriately sweet. I scarfed it down in the car but really should have waited until I was home, because it would have been absolutely magical if I heated it up, I'll bet. I can't wait to come back - it's a bit of a trek for us, but I'd happily make a day out of it the next time I'm on the Danforth!

This review is for the croissants. They are not good :(. I got the chocolate croissant and it was dense and dry, tasted more like old bread or what you would get at a bad supermarket (love loblaws fresh bakery they are exempt!). So disappointing. I threw it out after a few bites can't waste calories on something not good. On a positive note the shop is super cute, the people who work there so nice, and it always seems busy so I'm sure the other baked goods are good but it's a hard no for me for the croissants.

Dropped by this place unintentially because my husband love baked goods. I wasnt keen on getting anything but we end up getting a cinnamon bun, lemon tart, a brownie and an americano. I was really impressed with the cinnamon bun, it is crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, it is sooooooooo good. The lemon tart is full of flavour and the shortbread crust bring it up another level. Omg I haven't had such delicious baked dessert for a long time. I just wish they have more seating area. Only 4 seats is a bit difficult when u just want to sit down and enjoy the food because everyone is eyeing your seat and waiting for you to get off. Lovely food and coffee, I will come back and visit again.

I admit I have a pumpkin obsession and this place definitely hit the spot. Came here on a Monday afternoon and their cake display was well stocked with everything I wanted to try. Got the pumpkin butter tart, ooey gooey pumpkin butter cake square and a pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was excellent, fresh and tasty. Can't wait to come back to this place.

I love the ...... the best I've ever had period!! I won't tell you what it is because I don't want to risk them being all out. But if you are lucky to stumble in on it you'll know what I'm talking about!

I was just walking down Danforth and couldn't resist popping into Dough. It has the look that I want a cute little bakery to have. I got a couple dinner rolls and an almond croissant. Neither were anything to get excited about. The rolls didn't have much flavor. The almond croissant was all right, but I would have have preferred the croissant to be lighter and flakier. The dough part was too dense for my taste. I think this probably is a very good bakery, but stick with the proper breads.

I come here all the time when I'm at Danforth Music Hall. It is truly one of the best, filled with yummy goodness. There's everything you could think of here including gluten free and vegan items. Slightly pricy but worth every penny! Love the homemade soups that come in big glass mason jars, Montreal style bagels WOOHOOO. Last time I was there I picked up a gluten free cookie, a danish, a vegan pumpkin chocolate bread loaf (that was moist and delish) and a croissant. I try something new every time I'm there, which I have to admit, is not that often since I live in the states. However, each time Dough continues to impress and excite me and I really look forward to coming here each time I am nearby. It's absolutely fantastic whether or not you are GF, vegan, sweet tooth, savory tooth or just if you enjoy supporting local businesses.

3.5 I ordered some pecan pots as well as a gluten free butterscotch cookie. The pecan potts were pretty delicious id say 3.5-4. And the butterscotch cookie was average, id say 3. I like the shop though its quaint. and the staff was helpful. I would come back and try other things....

I work close (too close) to this wonderful local bakery. The prices are reasonable for their amazing baked goods!!! Recently, I brought one their carrot cakes to a party-it was literally the talk of the party. After, I was in a large nice grocery store and saw a similar sized cake which was more costly! I say, support dough - you won't be sorry! Also,their montreal style bagels are awesome too -beats tims down the street and is only slightly more money (cents). Enjoy!

Incredible scones. But the thing that I love is that I can phone them a couple of days a head and order sliders. They're always ready for me as soon as I arrive. And they're soft with a great crust. Perfect for that little burger. Oh, and the place smells fantastic.

I'm rating this for coffee geeks, not as a bakery. Although they have a gorgeous, 60's-era Victoria Arduino espresso machine and use "i deal coffee" beans, they don't take their espresso seriously, at least not seriously enough to have all their staff properly trained. In addition, they don't have proper "to stay" cups for those who want to utilize one of their 4 window-side stools. My cappuccino was poorly made...too hot, sloppy foam and a bit bitter. (Grinder calibrated lately?) one comment on the baked goods...it all looked great, and my pain au chocolat, though huge, was tasty but chewy.

Really good baked goods. AMAZING carrot cake, excellent cookies, the various squares are so yummy... I have so many good things to say about this place, and have tried many of the goodies... But then there's the coffee. It could be that their old-school espresso machine needs cleaning, or that they really don't know how to pull a good shot of espresso... I *love* IDEAL coffee, but find the coffees they serve up at Dough undrinkable. So I just don't order coffee there. *shrugs*

I moved into a new office near Dough and at first out of convenience I started grabbing my morning coffee there. I quickly realized this place is doing really great things. I get a latte and I've tried their scones and croissants which are made fresh in-house (obviously, it's a bakery first and foremost). The chocolate croissants (pain du chocolate) are ridiculously good. I noticed that they make a breakfast sandwich and I'll update my review once I tried one. I also noticed they have a small freezer with homemade dishes (meat pies, mac and cheese, comfort food classics) that I will also try soon. The latte is excellent as are the baked goods that I've tried. Service is very good with zero pretentiousness. Definitely worth popping in is as you'll find something delicious.

BEST CARROT CAKE ever. On the last day of my rotation recently, one of my seniors brought in a whole carrot cake to share. I still can't get over how absolutely phenomenal it was... The cake portion was moist and dense with real carrot buts and chunky seeds, and was sandwiched and topped with a (too sweet) rich, thick cream cheese frosting. Even my colleague who usually hates sweets couldn't put down his fork. Lost one star due to a scarcity vegan options. But still. Oh gosh... If you have a huge sweet tooth and enjoy dense, gooey, homemade cakes, *dough* yourself a favor and check out Dough!

Finally got to try out the newly opened Dough Bakeshop last week and it was definitely everything I wanted it to be and more! To make our first visit a well-rounded one, my roommate and I bought a variety of goodies: a loaf of brown bran bread, a pair of chocolate brownies, and a bag of fresh pizza dough...all for $10 even! We made the pizza that very night and although homemade pizza even on store-bought crust is delicious, this fantastic dough definitely made a huge difference. For only $3 you get a bag full of yummy dough, just waiting for you to roll out and make an awesome pizza on. (Oh, and the dough is stored in an adorably old-school light teal fridge, marked only with a sign that excitedly says "Pizza Dough!") For the bread we went with a rather basic pick, but it was still super good. I've made several sandwiches with it since we brought it home, all of which have been way better than any sandwich Dempsters could make me! Oh, and the brownies? Mmm! They were very perfectly chocolately and had bits of chocolate chips/chunks baked in as well - a great touch. Next time I visit I'm eager to try their yummy looking bagels, as well as some other sweet treats. Oh, and some more pizza dough, of course!

Sometimes I get these cravings (nooo not pregnant cravings hehe*). Typically I wouldnt say that I crave sweet things however I definitely do crave that perfect butter tart!! It has to be flakey and soft in the middle. This ABSOLUTELY was the best butter tart I have ever had. The shop itself was cute and smelled amazing. They had everything from freshly baked bread, sweet treats, sandwiches and beverages. I will definitely be going back to this spot again.

Ordered a Birthday Carrot Cake ..the best we ever have had; deeeeelicious!. Uma took the order, no muss no fuss ready when promised and very reasonably priced. I love walking into the store, like a step back in time with so many great products, bakers in plain view, kneading, rolling, flouring and making magic! I've lived in this neighbourhood for 25+ years and this is a very welcome addition to the uniqueness of The Danforth.

Ordered a loaf of bread,only to have noticed, after paying that the loaf was unsliced. Upon apologizing and requesting if it could be sliced, the person working behind the counter audibly sighed, snatched it back, begrudgingly sliced it and slid it over the counter to me, the responded with silence when I thanked them Was trying to support a small independent business, could have gone to Cobs and very might well next time.

I think some of the pastries could be better stored as the croissants get less flakey but if you go first thing in the morning it's amazing. Their gateau basque is amazing and I have purchased it a few times now.

As much as I would like to support any new local enterprise I was disappointed with both visits I made to this new store. First visit was okay, the lady made me a great meatloaf sandwich on a house baked bun and I had it with a coffee, yum yum. However the shop layout appeared to have been put up with little retail in mind. Two examples: 1. An old retro style frig filled to the tits with pizza dough, when I opened the door the stuff literally exploded onto the floor. The front window display was an ancient wooden rack filled with plastic bags full of day old reduced breads. How appealing is that? 2. Later as we were finishing up our snack the store filled up with customers. The lady at the cash (an owner I presume) had her hands full servicing the customers, however she received no help from the other employees that were placidly working/chatting in the production area in the rear of the shop. To the Owner/Nice lady: Crack that whip!! 3. A year goes by. One fine spring day I passed by and went in for a coffee and bun. Here is what I saw: A woman sitting on a stool at a mezzanine table, her back to me. She had a newspaper spread out with all of her stuff lying on the table. I thought, hmmm Owner? Customer? Wasn't sure. There was no one else around in the shop. I hesitated... the woman didn't turn around, she was wearing a pair of low rise tights and displaying a good 6 inches of sweaty ass crack. I quickly left, shaking my head as I did. Not sure what I had just witnessed other than it was really unappealing. I never returned. I cannot get that image out of my mind no matter how hard I try. What would possess someone to let it all hang out in such a blatant manner?

The best bakery on the Danforth - can't host a birthday party without their double chocolate cake. I always am asked to bring their baguettes to dinner parties

Dough just gave me another reason to be thankful that I live on the Danforth. I walk by this place all the time, but I've never walked in until this past weekend. It always smells really good as you walk by, and the place is always packed, so I don't know why I didn't take it as a sign that I should probably stop by. Anyways, I finally have and I've fallen in love! I walked in on Sunday morning. The selection was huge and just so fresh. I love Dough because they use fresh, organic, and local ingredients. This bakery is like your mom and pop type of bakery- which is a plus. Staff are super friendly. The cashier was stopped by the customer in front of me to make a coffee, so someone from the back stepped in so that I wouldn't have to wait too long to cash out. I ordered a cheese danish and a latte that morning. Cheese danish was great. I've often had danishes that make your mouth feel like there's a layer of butter on the roof of your mouth (it's pretty gross), but this didn't feel like that! Latte was also great. It did the trick and woke me right up (because being up at 10:30am on a Sunday is a little wrong). Anyways, I think this might be my new morning spot. A bit of a walk from the Starbucks I usually frequent, but this is definitely worth the walk.

This place is in the Top 5 reasons of the reasons I love living near the Danforth. I've been buying fresh bread from them twice a week since they opened. All taste great but the multi grain bread and buns are my fav. So many great takeout options for those who love good fresh food but don't love to cook: soups, salads, breakfast sandwiches but my absolute fav is their chocolate chip cookies - that perfect balance between crispy and gooey. Super nice people that obviously love what they do. There is one draw back, they have no A/C and the summer line ups can be punishing.

I have bought bread from Dough on the Danforth on a number of occasions and found it to be superior. Based on that I bought some Hot Cross Buns. What a sock; they had no resemblance to the sweet buns I have been offered over 60 years. In the main, traditional Hot Cross Buns are light in colour, flavourful and sweet. Not so the ones from dough, which are dark, heavy and flavourless. I took the time to go to Dough to offer my comments to the owener in person rather than 'phone it in'. She came out of the back looking for a fight and told me hers were, indeed, Hot Cross Buns or at least "OUR HOT CROSS BUNS". Since these buns are very specific in look and taste I showed a photo of the traditional real Hot Cross Buns...but she was not having any of it. I left her some in the hope that she tries them and discovers the hockey puck status of hers. And as someone in a service industry I would offer the advice that if a customer is unsatisfied starting an argument as to who is right or wrong in front of staff and other customers is a really Bad Idea. I was hoping to have a polite conversation about 'what is a hot cross bun", but she just wailed into me about 'these are OUR Hot Cross Buns'. Of course she can sell anything she likes and call it a Hot Cross Bun, but when someone is also suggesting it is heavy , brown bread and tasteless one would have thought she would give pause to her emotions and discuss. Anyway, since I am in a non combative mode I left them with and her store. Maybe she will have the sense to look up the real think. Even the ones baked by Weston (Loblaw) sells are streets ahead of her in authenticity. Nicholas Brooks

The have the best blueberry-cranberry scone in the whole Danforth. It has that edge that makes you keep coming back for it every now and then. Pricier that a simple scone but you get what you pay for. Yummy chocolate brownies too.

This is for the grilled cheese... $6 for a small sandwich that took a long time to make and seemed to be made on small uninteresting bread with bland cheese. Huge disappointment for a lunch out.

Amazing breads (sour dough, challah and raisin breads) great lemon squares, cookies, brownies.... Nice staff. Wish I lived closer.

I ordered ginger bread cookies with individual kids names on them, 10 in total. They were decorated really elegant and minimalist but not kid friendly at all. Not enough icing and not very creative for the price paid. They are for a party tomorrow so let's see if they taste alright but disappointed for the lack of fun side of Christmas decorating.

I'm lucky enough to live just around the corner from this Bakery so I can now buy real bread! They keep adding to their selection - meat pies; cakes; pizza; cupcakes! Fantastically fresh and yummy. Try it out - across from the new LCBO on Danforth Ave. Johanne T

Dough Bakeshop is a small neighbourhood bakery. They have a small counter with a few seat to have a cup of coffee. I was not impressed with their pastries and coffee, but there were always many regular customers in a shop. I thought it was pricey as a small neighbourhood bakery.

A fantastic neighbourhood bakery. A lot of TLC goes into their baked goods. Personal favourites are the cheese croissants, flourless chocolate cakes, multigrain bread, among many others. Great coffee too, and very friendly staff. They also feature gluten free items remarkably.

Yummm! Was drawn in on a Saturday morning by the amazing smell, and the goods did not disappoint. The cinnamon buns are delish, as are the cheese danish. I took home a loaf of walnut bread and it was particularly tasty. I'll be back for the spelt bread and perhaps a butter tart :) Keep up the good work!
