At this nostalgic Key Biscayne diner, hefty portions of comforting American classics and a fast, friendly vibe keep locals coming back for their favorite meals.
"It’s not a gallery and they don’t sell donuts. It’s a narrow breakfast spot with low vinyl stools that overlook a griddle—and it’s also been a Key Biscayne institution since 1972. The walls are covered in photos of Key locals, and the counter’s footrest has indented footprints from regulars. Service is fast and friendly, the pancakes are fluffy, and the coffee is strong. But you can’t go to the Donut Gallery without ordering the Ted’s special. It’s an open-faced sandwich with ham, bacon, tomato slices, American cheese, and two fried eggs on an English muffin. "The Meal: World Famous Ted’s Special, $13.25 If there is one kind of restaurant that's duty is to fill you up for less than $15, it is the diner. And Donut Gallery in Key Biscayne (who oddly don't actually sell donuts) is one of our favorite Miami diners. You can’t come here without ordering the Ted’s special. That's just diner law. It’s an open-faced sandwich with ham, bacon, tomato slices, American cheese, and two fried eggs that run like a new computer—all on an English muffin." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"A fan favorite among Key Biscayne locals, the Donut Gallery Diner takes you back to simpler times. This small place full of history offers delicious “greasy spoon” breakfast. Slide in onto a seat at the bar and watch your breakfast be wiped up in no time. Or come in at lunch and enjoy a steak sandwich with a chocolate milkshake. The nostalgic atmosphere of this place will keep you coming back for more." - Maas Studio
