Dirt Candy serves up playful vegetarian fare and inventive cocktails in a stylish setting, making it a must-visit for all, veggie-lover or not.
"Dirt Candy is the one of the best vegetarian restaurants in this city. They have also recently moved into a new space, because the brussels sprout taco business (pictured) is booming. Thanks, Obama." - chris stang
"Amanda Cohen has been at the forefront of experimental, playful vegetarian, and vegan fine dining in New York City for well over a decade (long before the Eleven Madison Park team tried their hands at it). The chef has been a pioneer in her creative use of ingredients, but she’s also helped lead conversations about fairer wages for workers. A tasting menu is priced at $105, with the additional option for a beverage pairing." - Eater Staff
"The Tasting Menu "If you have a friend who is judgmental about vegetarian food, you should take them to Dirt Candy, where I had one of the most unique and interesting vegetarian meals of my life. Dirty Candy’s mission isn’t to promote how healthy vegetables are, but to show how delicious they can be and how inventively they can be prepared. While the menu changes seasonally, two dishes from a recent summer menu stand out: a tomato 'cake' with yellow tomato jam, tomato leather, and smoked feta; and a corn dish with corn mousse, fresh corn, seaweed caviar, and baby corn." - brennan carley
"Dirt Candy is the best special occasion vegetarian restaurant in the city, and you don’t even have to leave your apartment to experience it. In addition to a menu of a la carte dishes (like Korean fried broccoli or a beet reuben), Dirt Candy also has “vegetable party dinners” for delivery every day between 5:30pm and 8:45pm. The menu changes every week and costs $55 per person (with a $25 optional beverage pairing). They recommend you pre-order these, which you can do ahead of time online." - hannah albertine
"While these days vegans can find plenty of options in downtown New York, Dirt Candy’s tasting menu undeniably forever shaped the way New Yorkers think about vegan cooking. This tasting menu-focused spot features ever-changing whimsical presentations of vegetables, worth checking out no matter your dietary restrictions." - Robert Sietsema, Eater Staff
