Worth the wait. As with most places, staff was short but all of them pitched in to make customers feel welcomed. We didn't mind the wait because we had a lot to talk about☺️We were a party of 5 and enjoyed meeting after years of separation because of retirement, moves to different states and jobs.

The best part about Deanie’s Bucktown was the service. The restaurant was very accommodating for our large group and the server was great. The appetizers were next level. The colossal onion rings were flaky, stuffed mushrooms were hard to stop eating, and barbecue shrimp was a huge hit. What stole the show though were the boiled potatoes, with a small hit of salt they were unlike any other potatoes we’d ever had. The entrees left much to be desired, I had the red beans and rice with a grilled pork chop. The chop had good flavor, the beans had several parts/chunks of bay leaves and had a large chunk of pork fat that was inedible, the cornbread was good but was so sweet it was basically cake. The oysters were another huge hit and did not stand a chance at the table. The part of the restaurant we were sat in was very humid, not sure if it was due to the weather but it was a bit uncomfortable. My advice, let the server make recommendations and stick to the appetizers.

Great food and service! The red potatoes they give you are so good as an appetizer. Oysters are fresh but the stuffed mushrooms were to die for easily one of the best things to order here. The gumbo was also really good and can't go wrong with order a cup of bowl. We got the fried player combo with catfish, oyster, and shrimp and they were fired perfectly with good flavor. The carrot souffle was amazing, and can easily be eaten as a dessert. I will be looking forward to coming back here for sure.

Second time visiting and I was still pleased! Sat at the bar this time and had excellent service. The red potatoes as an appetizer had the perfect amount of spice to them. I tried the crab balls which were delicious and fried well. For entrees we had the fried shrimp and Fries and the fried soft crab with dirty rice. Everything tastes wonderful!

Their seafood and super seafood platters are massive and perfect for sharing if you can’t decide on just one thing. A standout tradition at Deanie’s is their appetizer of hot, boiled red potatoes instead of bread. These potatoes, boiled in seafood seasoning, come out piping hot with just the right kick. Add butter, salt, and pepper, and you’ve got a delicious start to your meal—just be careful not to fill up before your main course! If there’s a wait, the bar area is the perfect place to grab a drink. I highly recommend their strawberry daiquiri, which tastes like a classic New Orleans snowball with a grown-up twist. It’s a must-try while you’re there. Back to the catfish: it’s fried to perfection every single time. Crispy on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, it’s mild, fresh, and doesn’t need to be overly seasoned. Pair it with their homemade tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or a squeeze of lemon, and you’re in for a treat. Deanie’s is also kid-friendly, making it a great spot for families. The only minor downside is parking, which can be tricky during busy hours, but there are nearby lots available on weekends and evenings. The red potatoes were delicious ; nothing needed to be added. My favorites were the carrot souffle, fried catfish, and the Crab and Corn Bisque. Our server "Felicia" was hands down the best! Wonderful asset to this establishment. We felt like we were eating at family. I do plan to eat here upon my return to Louisiana.

Absolutely fantastic crab fingers! Had a great time at the bar. We ordered a half lb. shrimp, which was slightly overcooked and cold but still good. We used the sauce the broiled crab fingers came in to make up for that. The red fish was great! We're definitely coming back to this original location by the lake😊!

Would recommend that any and everyone visit. Giant Seafood Platter - not much seasoning, but a clean look and taste. Fried perfectly. The crab balls were our favorite. Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable. The restaurant is so clean and neat. Fits the vibe of the city.

Felicia was my server and she went above and beyond to serve my family and I. I would recommend her and her service again and again. The food portions were absolutely huge. You'll be in a food coma by the time you walk out.

Felicia was the best server we have ever had. She knew exactly what we needed before even asking for it! She was fun and joked around with us. Overall we had a great experience and will be asking for Felicia next time.

10/27/2024 When in LA you have to get crawfish, oysters and more! My boyfriend's god mother wanted to take us to Deanie's Seafood and I am always down to try a new spot. As long as I get my oysters lol That was my mission while I was here. Eat as many oysters as I can. For the table we ordered the following: Boiled potatoes with butter on the side. Two trays of charbroiled oysters- BBQ charbroiled oysters and the charbroiled oyster with crab on top. 6 boiled crabs- Side note this is when I learned how to break them apart. Pretty cool! I ordered the catfish platter. This platter could be for three people! There was so much I took it home and ate it on the plane. My boyfriend ordered the Barbeque shrimp. The portion of food on his plate was huge. He tore it up! My boyfriends god mother ordered the combo platter. This came with shrimp, oysters and catfish. I should have ordered this. The oysters were delicious. Everything we ordered was amazing! I would have ordered another tray of oyster but my boyfriends god mother was paying so I didn't want to be greedy haha just means I need to make another trip out there.

Service was great. Red Beans Mon night special was great. Boiled Crabs were awful - so salty could barely eat them and so overcooked the meat stuck inside. Meat was discolored in several and several of the dozen we ordered were inedible. Also the meat was obviously frozen and at the inflated prices they charged, a huge disappointment. Disgusted! Should close if can't do better. By comparison our Tue night boiled crabs at Kinney Seafood in Slidell were amazing as were the dozen we had this past weekend from Fat Boy seafood on the Maryland Eastern Shore - we eat boiled crabs a lot so we know what's good and what isn't. Deanie's boiled crabs were the worst I've ever been served. Hands down.

This was a local recommendation to try and honestly, I was willing to be adventurous. I'm glad I did, because the food was really good and you get HUGE portion sizes. They fill those styrofoam containers to the brim! This place is no frills so expect a few health code violations somewhere lol. Speaking of violations, the bathroom was unclean and scary looking, but that doesn't take away from the food. Next time I'll get takeout.

I have coming to Deanie's well since it's been Deanie's. Consistently great food, huge portions and free boiled potatoes... with butter. Ambiance is very nice, a bar and great service... I enjoyed my meal here.... Happy Veterans Day to all!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at Deanies in Metairie today food was good and the service we received from Felicia was the best Highly recommend trying the place and ask for Felicia for a wonderful friendly and highly attentive service.

I ordered the char grilled oysters. They were very tasty. The oysters were very very fresh. This time of year they have the oyster dressing also a huge winner. And I ordered the crab and shrimp, bisque soup. It was very, very tasty very flavorful and lots of fresh seafood. I absolutely love this place.

Felicia was not just a server; she was a true professional who exuded excellence in every interaction.. Her patience was unwavering as we perused the menu, and she made thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. When our orders arrived, Felicia ensured that my father's seafood platter was served promptly and he had sufficient condiments. She checked in on us discreetly, making sure that he had everything he needed. Her genuine concern for his well-being touched my heart. But it didn't end there. During the course of our meal, I shared with Felicia that my father had driven over two hours to meet up with me. As we finished our meals and packaged the remainder, Felicia surprised us by offering to pack my father's remaining beverage in a to-go cup for his return ride. It was a small gesture, but it spoke volumes about her commitment to exceptional service. As we left the restaurant, I knew that we would be back. Deanie's has earned a loyal customer in me, and I eagerly look forward to returning to Felicia's section. Bisque 5/5 A great alternative to gumbo. Onion rings 5/5 Plentiful, crispy and served piping hot. Perfect for sharing, Ice cream pina colada 5/5 Delicious and packs a punch.

Great place for fresh seafood in New Orleans. Get the grilled redfish. For sides, the carrot soufflé is so delicious. Add onion rings and a house salad with fig vinaigrette. So lucky to get a table for two without a reservation on a Friday night. Thanks to Karen for the great service.

One of the best seafood meals I have had in New Orleans and at a reasonable price. But the real reason to come back is the service--specifically from our server Ms. Felicia. Not only is she quick, anticipating your needs before asking, but she makes you feel at home right away. Her humorous attitude is contagious and she'll leave you with a smile. Do yourself a favor and ask for her section. The shrimp poboy was done right--classic, delicious, and stuffed with shrimp. I recommend trying it with tartar and/or cocktail sauce. The crabmeat au gratin was to die for and the crab balls (similar to mini crab cakes) were great as well. The red beans had more of a ham base and weren't my favorite, but someone else at my table really enjoyed them.

Deanies is CONSISTENT fa'show!!!!! My boy and I shared a HALF seafood platter, something that 6 years I ago, I smashed by myself, and TODAY we, WE, had many leftovers!

Amazing service tonight! Our waiter (Casey) did a fantastic job! Casey was very attentive. His soft spoken, respectful manner was refreshing. So much so that I decided to get on here to give him a shout out for such a great job! The food was hot and delicious. The portion of food filled the platter.

Deanie's is my go-to for a fried shrimp poboy. I have been quite a few times this summer and their fried shrimp are excellent. On top of the excellent shrimp poboy, I love the potatoes that are given at the beginning of your meal. I will continue to frequent Deanie's in Bucktown!

When I lived in the New Orleans area, this was one of my favorite go-to places. Sophia and I had takeout boxes on every stop. Believe me, when you enjoy seafood, you know you'll leave full halfway through your plate. Would this visit be another one of those incidents? We were seated after walking inside. Just like before, the inside was beautiful. I should've taken a photo of the bar area, but oh well...LOL!! We immediately got to ordering within minutes. They served complimentary red potatoes with butter. Very good and even tasted of some pepper. For both of us, we selected soft shell crab with french fries. Deeeee-licious!! Properly seasoned and lightly fried. And you probably guess right, we ended up with takeout boxes. The food still tasted the same like earlier. A much needed stop during our Christmas visit. You can never go wrong with homemade seafood. Hopefully we'll be back next year. Till next time :)

My auntie love Deanie's and wanted to get out of New Orleans during our visit. So to Bucktown we go. It was full but not to crowded for a Friday night. Prices are reasonable we decided to share a fried 2 platter combo substituting the French fries for red beans and rice. First of all. The potato's are perfectly cooked. Seasons soft. I love them. My aunt had a cup of seafood gumbo. It was very oceany lol if that's a word. Very seafood forward. To much for my liking but she ate the whole cup. The shrimp and catfish was GREAT . Lightly battered seasoned to perfection. Had just the right amount of seasoning and heat. Hands down the best read beans and rice I have had at a long long time. EVEN THE TARTAR AND COCKTAIL SAUCE IS AMAZING ! 10 out of 10 And my aunt decided to order a shrimp poboy to go. I'm sure it will be great. Courtney was great! Attentive and knowledgeable.

Deanie's Seafood has consistently gotten better over the years. Their menu has improved substantially along with the flavors of their food. This isn't my favorite spot to get boiled seafood as often they seem to overcook their boiled shrimp which is an unfortunate trend many seafood joints seem to have in common these days. Deanie's has always done a great job with their fried seafood options and their fried seafood platters have always been fantastic things. Their broiled and fried fish options are typically nice choices here. Their specials and sides have also really improved over the years so that you have a really nice selection of different items not many other places offer these days. There are also not many places in this area that do as much volume as Deanie's does so they usually get their food out really fast! Everything here is decent to fantastic for the most part and there are certainly more and more places that do far worse food while there are fewer and fewer places that make authentic New Orleans Creole food like they do at Deanie's. Overall this is a place you can bring a big group and they will likely have something that most folks can eat. The biggest area for improvement is their boiled shrimp as so far it has been 100% frustratingly overcooked EVERY time I have ordered it so now I've given up on even trying to order the boiled shrimp again until I hear it is being prepared better. We wanted to go somewhere away from the French quarter and this restaurant was perfect. KC was our server and he was a sweetheart. We were given red potatoes with butter as a complementary appetizer. Blue crab was available for purchase in 3 different sizes (Medium,Large,Jumbo). Blue crab pictured are large size since they were out of Jumbo. Crab was made fresh and came out hot. Soft shell crab was ordered a la cart but would have loved go try it on the sandwich option they have available. Restaurant was very cozy and welcoming

The service was fine. The food, not so much. We ate here and the waiter told us more than once that the restaurant does its season its food after covid. He said that they do not want to be known as a Creole restaurant. What's wrong with being Creole? He said it's an Italian spot, but every Italian I know seasons their food. He did bring out seasoning to our table but it didn't help much. He said that the older crowd who has health issues love their bland food. Well, I'm not a Golden Girl yet, and I am in New Orleans, so please, season my food.

Our family of four enjoyed fried shrimp poboys, seafood platter, multiple sides & appetizers. All delicious, very good. But the "experience" was the real highlight. Felicia is the star. If I have ever received better service, I don't recall. Felicia was flawless. Fun and personable. Satisfying every possible need. Overheard her interacting the same with multiple other tables. Like she grew up in their neighborhood. We will return, and will certainly ask for her section. You should, too.

Been coming here my whole life. My grandpa introduced me to this place. He's been coming here longer than I have. The food is amazing! Darren is great !! Felicia is wonderful !!!

we have been to Deanies many times but this was our first visit after a long time. overall good food but smaller portions and long wait times. we started off with the onion rings and then got the seafood platter and a bowl of gumbo. the onion rings were good with a good batter; the seafood platter came with shrimp catfish and oysters as well as fries - it was good flavor of the breading and the seafood just a bit small; and the gumbo was a good portion and good flavor. overall good food but the wait time was very long! 45mins to sit and the. another 45mina to get the food!

Visiting New Orleans from Dallas, TX and decided to stop by here for some good seafood ! Walking in - the person at the front desk was super nice and sat us pretty quick! But the star of this establishment is Miss Felicia ! Her service and personality is 100% what most restaurants are missing nowadays ! We barely had to ask for refills, she gave great recommendations as far as what to order (not pictured: the ice cream pina colada was 10/10) the conversation was great! I'm already planning my next trip to NOLA and i'm making sure I come back and get seated with her again !

Started with a spicy Bloody Mary and it is good and spicy. Artichoke hearts with ranch and marinara was really good. Grand seafood platter to feed 3 of us and boy it's a lot of food. It could definitely feed a few more. We had 2 full to go boxes. Seafood was crispy and delicious!

Today our family of 20 went to eat ! Not only was the service great but our food was awesome as well . The size of our Party did not slow down the timing in good either ! The food came out just as quick. Now , for our server , She was an absolute saint , truly a lovely woman and completely joy to have ! Ms . Felicia went above and beyond for us ! We never went without anything at all. I strongly recommend anyone who visits to ask for her ! She will be awesome !

My family and I went to Deanie's last Saturday. We had a party of 13 (including 3 toddlers). They didn't have a table big enough to seat all 13 of us but the manager was able to seat us at 2 tables that were side by side. We didn't have to wait long either. Our server was Ms. Felicia and let me tell you she was AMAZING!! We didn't have to worry about anything. She made sure we had everything we needed. She made us so comfortable that by the time we left she was our "honorary aunt". The food was great also. We got a selection of things and we not disappointed with anything. We didn't wait long for our food either (keep in mind that the restaurant was full). I highly recommend Deanie's in Metairie and if you get Ms. Felicia tell her "her niece" said hello.

We came in town for the weekend from Houston and dropped in for some seafood! EVERYTHING was deliciously amazing!! Felicia was our server and she was so kind and attentive to us! We didn't have to ask nor remind her for anything! Gotta love her!! We will definitely come back!!!

This was one of the first places I tried in New Orleans. Very casual restaurant but good quality seafood. I'm sorry I don't remember everything we ordered. The portion sizes were ample for family style dinner. Prices were good. We didn't have to wait too long for the food to come out. Not sure why the overall rating is low, you don't need a fancy place to eat local cuisine. The fried seafood platter was nice and crispy. Good seasoning. The bbq shrimp sauce pairs wonderfully with the bread. I would definitely come back.

Mid July 2023 and unfortunately was informed that crawfish was out of season. Went with charbroiled oysters, crawfish bisque, shrimp, and onion rings instead. Oysters: 5/5 must try. Coupled with the bread it was heaven. Crawfish bisque: 4/5, it was really great, again finishing the soup with the bread was heavenly. Shrimp: 3/5. Not salty unlike other places, done well but maybe it sat somewhere too long because it was on the cool side when it arrived. Corn was disappointing as portions of it was still ice cold, so maybe it wasn't steamed long enough. Onion rings: just didn't like it. Too much breading and gave it up after a couple of pieces. Overall would recommend this place for the oyster and bisque alone.

For starters...WOW! Just wow! Now let me start out by saying that I'm from New England, and I can confidently say that our seafood is wicked good! I mean like Tom Brady throwing a missile to Randy Moss good. In other words, I got some good taste guy, I'm telling ya. That's enough talk about me and my story let's get to the good stuff... Deanie's in Metairie, hands down, some of the most phenomenal seafood out there! I won't lie, I was skeptical at first, but they made a comeback like New England did vs the Atlanta Falcons and blew me away! 10/10 recommend, and if I had to say anything, Felicia is the Bill Belichick of this fine establishment! Anyone who is lucky enough to encounter her service is as lucky as the giants were when they beat the Patriots in the Super Bowl the first time... and the second, leave me alone. Come here every year to celebrate my Maw-Maw's birthday and it's always great! Our server total was phenomenal, thank you Felicia for taking care of us on this special day!

The charbroiled oysters and fried catfish OMG! Super recommend!!! The red potatoes were a free appetizer and very delicious. I want to go to this place every time we are in Metairie. We sat at the bar and bartender was good, kind of dry but good. A bit old school looking but it was all good!

Had some family visiting from Germany and brought them to Deanie's for lunch. Ms. Felicia took care of us and she was fabulous! Waitress was great! We ordered the red beans and rice and she said "you don't want that". She was kind and the food was acceptable. Cesar salad was served with old lettuce, stuffed shrimp were not good and served in too much butter. Fried platter had catfish as the standout (very good) but the rest was below average. Fries were weak. Won't come back.

As always Deanie's did not disappoint! Felicia provided great service and conversation. You have to try the crawfish balls! They are delicious! If you want a great meal in a laid back environment Deanie's is a must!

This is a nice family home me restaurant the crowd was 40 to 60 year old. The food had very large portion sizes. The prices were reasonable. I have the seafood half platter, which was more than enough food to feed three people with leftovers. The fried oysters were great

We are visiting and got to New Orleans today. Deanie's was first up on the list. We walked in and were greeted with smiles and a nice welcome. Today, Felicia was the best and most fantastic waitress to me and my family visiting from out of town. The FOOD needless to say is delicious and always more than you can eat at one sitting. Thanks Felicia for your efficient and attentive service! Keep up the good work.

Deanie's is a Bucktown tradition. Their sautéed crab claws, seafood gumbo, Crawfish Étouffée, and fried oysters are always good. Sunday's lunch on the Sunday before Mardi Gras is a good retreat from the crowds of the French Quarters! Bucktown has always been the place in the New Orleans area to get good seafood! Try their Giant Seafood Platter, which is also known as a Fried Seafood Tower which can easily feed two or more people! Our waitress, Asiaja took real good care of us!

OMG....Deanie's is not the restaurant of the 80's and 90's. The food tasted like cayenne pepper and old grease. Seafood should be light in color when fried, this was dark and tasteless. The charbroiled oysters was overcooked with too much cheese, the fish was SWAI and not CATFISH which they were aware. The best thing on the menu were the potatoes they served before the meal arrived. This place is for tourists, or for loyal ppl who live in the area. Will not be visiting EVER AGAIN!!! Sorry no photos to show the food.

Food and service was excellent. Their was no wait time and food came out fast and hot. Our server Glen was very friendly and courteous .

The food was delicious & the server was fast & kind! It was busy during Fat Tuesday but they got us in and served quickly. Clean ambiance!
