This is a tasting room. A small one at that. Not a vineyard as the name suggests. Just FYI...
Alright... I'm not sure if this would be a fair review, so feel free to skip over if you are in the mood to disagree. But I will note, up top here, that the 2 servers who helped us exclaimed at least 10 separate times (not exaggerating) that they were surprised to find so many patrons stuffed into the little tasting room apparently right before we sat down. And well, you can imagine what that means in terms of service...
That's not to say service was bad, as both ladies were smiling and very pleasant, and came as often as they could. I would just say it was very "rushed." One was clearly more patient and calmer, and I daresay more "jubilant" than the other, but often descriptions of the wines would be nearly finished as backs are turned to us, our servers running to the next table.
Anyway, I think it's fair to say, it wasn't exactly a relaxing time to sit and enjoy wine.
We ordered:
1. Flight of 6 Wines for $15: I admit, I'm not a wine connoisseur. I drink far more beer and whiskey. So take my opinion with a grain of salt, but to me the wine quality here is just about average, on average. The Riesling and chardonnay did not impress me much (though my gf liked them a lot more, so who knows?), their special "Five by Five" was a bit funky to me, but I did like their Pinot and Syrah quite a bit. Also, apparently this day was special and they were pouring a library 2008 Merlot, which I thought was very delicious!
Pours were very very small, or generous, depending on which server. And well, unfortunately, the more stressed lady poured the stingiest, at most 1oz per serving, barely enough for you to really define a taste in your mind. I think the more generous lady felt bad for us and tried to make it up by pouring probably at least 3x as much. I really appreciated that, honestly.
So, it was all kind of a mixed bag. I'd give it a 6/10
2. Cheese & Charcuterie Plate $20 "manchego, swiss, double cream brie, salami, prosciutto & spicy coppa": Clearly, food ain't there thing here. The cheese was quite plain, all of which not any more special than you'd get at Safeway/Ralph's, or some of Costco's plainer selections. The meat was just about the quality of Costco's bulk packs... well... okay, the prosciutto was a bit better than Costco's, and the coppa was actually pretty good. But overall, I wouldn't get this again as I have had far fancier charcuteries with higher-end food for a similar price. Also, since they were so busy, we finished half the wines already before the food came out, which wasn't optimal. 4/10
So, again, maybe we came at their worst time, but I think next time we'd rather go somewhere else.
