Budapest, Szent Gellért tér 2, 1114 Hungary Get directions

"An Art Nouveau hotel on thewestern (Buda) side of the River Danube, just below Géllert Hill, Danubius Hotel Gellért first opened its doors in 1918, and quickly became one of the city’s most popular places to stay, attracting international royalty and a fair number of U.S. presidents. Today, the hotel’s biggest draw is the Géllert Spa, a sprawling complex comprised of multiple hot-spring baths along with steam rooms, saunas, and an outdoor wave pool that dates to 1927. The 234 rooms are large and elegant, with classical furnishings that echo the stately historical atmosphere of the common areas. Dine under crystal chandeliers at Panoráma restaurant, and don’t miss the huge stained-glass pictorial windows and wrought-iron banisters that ornament the main staircase."

Absolutely not worth the money , from far the architecture looks amazing , but once you get a little bit closer , everything is dirty! It’s really disgusting everywhere In the pool looks like the don’t clean it , the corridors , every corner is dirty and disgusting The service, don’t even think about it , employees are not kind AT ALL! I’m sorry but there’s many many best things to do in Budapest , but not this , go somewhere else

Rich historical experience with its stunning Art Nouveau architecture and famous thermal baths. While the views of the Danube River are spectacular and the service is warm, the hotel falls short in modern amenities, showing signs of its age. Unfortunately, the quality doesn't quite match the high price, making it worthwhile primarily for those who appreciate its historical significance.

Not worth the money. Beautiful architecture but horrible service - no free towels, bathrooms not working, no jacuzzi, unclear why they require swimming caps only in one pool. Poland and Romania have better thermal baths!

Luxurious Hotel. Next to the hotel functioning the worldwide famous Gellért Thermal Bath.

This hundred year old Hotel is perfectly located to explore Budapest! The rooms are nice and comfortable. Ask for a River View room, the view is wonderful. Three of those have a large balcony, which is perfect for an evening drink and cigar. :) Note: As is common in traditional European hotels, these rooms are NOT air conditioned. They have copious windows and a fan. The river-view rooms get a lot of sun. While the shady side rooms, and the common areas were quite cool, even in July, The 2 days when the temp got up around 30c, it was a bit warm. The rest of the time it was fine. The world-famous Gellért Baths are located in the facility. The famous Hungarian "Statue of Freedom" and Freedom Bridge are literally across the street. Most of the must-see sights are within walking distance, or use the electric scooters that are always nearby (I prefer "Lime", as they are most prevalent.). Local Bus and Metro stops are also right next to the hotel, as well.

Very nice hotel! Wonderful architecture. Comfortable placement. The best staff! We stayed at the hotel at the end of July. There were air conditioners in our room and the room of our friends. Big rooms. Comfortable beds. Lovely view! The hotel has a special spirit! Want to say "Thank you" to the receptionists, who helped us in any questions!

This hotel is way past its prime and the entire operation is tired. Despite the presence of some ‘old world charm’, the rooms are two star at best, the restaurant serves frozen meat warmed up for the dishes, the bathrooms are badly maintained closets with rotting wood & peeling paint, and the overall impression is one of disappointment. Hotel guests can avail the nearby baths for 10% less than visitors from the street but - in what must be an international first - hotel guests must pay €3 for disposable slippers, not to mention going down to reception barefoot to buy them! Honestly, I want to love this hotel but the decor, amenities and food are so far below 4 star that I feel ripped off.

Great location, looking over the river and city. Next to the lookout and park. The spa is really fun and a good way to spend half a day. Good service and lots to choose from at Breakfast. They let us check into our room early and gave us an upgrade to a really big room. We will stay here next time we're in Budapest.
