DaiLo has always been on our tasting menu bucket list, and they did not disappoint! Their attention to detail with the menu and atmosphere was noteworthy. Our server Emily was diligent, friendly, and accomodating. She answered every single question and made our experience memorable. The menu items were flavourful, thoughtfully arranged, and highlights the best elements of Asian cuisine. They had their signature dishes but also added in some lovely off-menu ones. Service was well-paced and orderly. They will tailor menu items to your preference or if you have any dietary restrictions. It was my partner’s birthday so they surprised her with a wonderful Vietnamese coffee tiramisu dessert! We appreciated the culinary experience from start to finish. Would highly recommend DaiLo for anyone looking for a tasting menu experience or a special occasion. Thank you DaiLo chefs and staff for your service!

Love coming here for special occasions and doing the tasting menu. Always really fun especially with larger groups and the flavours and quality is consistent. Overall the staple dishes don’t change but I find those are the things I come back for (betel leaf wrap, octopus tacos, and signature dumplings are my favourite) You leave full for sure but I do find the included dessert to be a bit lacklustre (sorbet)

We chose the chef’s tasting menu, which included five courses and a simple dessert. For one of the courses, we could select an entree from the à la carte menu. Our favorite was the dumplings in the fourth course, reminiscent of ravioli. The Italian flavors blended with Chinese sophistication created an exceptional combination!

We ordered 6 different dishes and every single one of them was out of this world! Hats off to our server Connor. He was outstanding and really impressed us with his knowledge of the food, flavors and preparation. Can't wait to come back.

We had the tasting menu here and several cocktails. All of the cocktails were unique, and tasted amazing. The tasting menu had 6 courses, most were good but did not blow me away. The shrimp spoon appetizer and lobster on toast were good, while the trout at the end was okay. The biggest disappointment of the meal was the dessert, which was a small lemon sorbet. Shameful for a restaurant like this to serve something so basic at the end of their tasting menu. I honestly thought they brought this out as a palate cleanser in preparation for the real dessert. Sadly, this wasn’t the case.

Up there for one of the top tasting menus in the city. For $130 a pop, they brought us a total of 9 courses + a complimentary extra dessert. The dishes do a good job of highlighting the various flavours and styles that the restaurant wants to showcase; whether it’s Chinese, SE Asian, Japanese mixed with some European flair. A good range of flavours and textures too, ranging from sweet, spicy, fresh to creamy. Highlight for me was the eggplant dish that tasted very meaty and had a fantastic combination of SE Asian flavours. The corn dumpling was also amazing and was bursting with sweet corn flavour. Mashed potato and pasta dish were both takes on classic homestyle dishes that were elevated really well with an asian flair.

Pro tip: if you're trying to make a reservation on OpenTable and can't find a table spot (if there's only high top seats available), call them. We did the DaiLo's choice, but to be completely honest, I don't think it's worth what you're paying. You're paying more to try different dishes, but it's not quite any more food. You'll get more food per dollar spent ordering a la carte. We also didn't love every dish. They do try out "new menu dishes" on you. Anyway, here's everything we tried: 1) an amouse bouche Tom yum soup that was kind of like an egg custard 2) Smoked Trout Pomelo Betel Leaf - tasty and a lot like paan with a Thai twist 3) Crispy Octopus Taco - these were the best thing we had and next time I'd probably just order two whole plates for myself 4) Vietnamese Phaux Beef Carpaccio - it looked like a much smaller portion than what you'd get a la carte but it was tasty 5) an eggplant dish with smoked burrata on it. This was probably the second best thing on the menu. The eggplant was cooked to perfection and the burrata was a great combination 6) a Big Mac riff made with a bao bun 7) Hakka Brown Wontons (pork & shrimp) - these were possibly the worst dish we had. We didn't even finish it. The texture was awful and the brown butter was extremely heavy. My review isn't affected by this at all, but having done the tasting menu, we figured they would've at least offered us something else 8) the chefs wonton that are his grandmother's recipe - we didn't love these either, but it wasn't even half as bad as the other dumplings 9) Smoked Duck Bokkeum - the duck and roasted veggies were amazing, but the mashed potato with fried shrimp wasn't the most appetizing. They also served us a smaller portion, which we were a little bummed about 10) a ginger soju shaved ice palate cleanser that I would order as my dessert any day 11) an olive oil cake that was also very delicious I'd definitely go back but I'd order a la carte and steer clear of their wontons/dumplings.

After constantly hearing great things about Dailo, we visited it on a Tuesday night and ordered the entire menu. Needless to say, it was a fun and delicious experience. Since we ordered the entire menu, the chef decided to reward us with even more complimentary off-menu items. We were totally stuffed by the end of it. Service was great as they scaled the portions for each dish perfectly so we could actually try one of everything, and the chef himself came out to prepare the dessert for us. Of nearly 20 dishes, my favourites were the duck, steak, and octopus taco, while the vietnamese tiramisu was also delicious. Overall it was a great experience!

Best restaurant in Toronto! Been there twice; once where we ordered off the menu and it was fantastic. Had to go back and do the chefs menu. Each dish is so thoughtfully crafted and the flavors are insane. The staff is also so lovely as well. There was a clarified caesar on the drink menu that sounded unlike anything I had ever seen. The bar manager nick gave us a taste of it to try (so nice!) and it completely sold us. SO fantastic!!

When I walked in the service was nice, the atmosphere how cool it was, I had whole giggle fried trout as my main dish I will never forget how the crispy fish meat meshed so well with the sauce and how I watered it down with cold fresh water It was like I was taken to sandy and rocky beach and I basked in the sun its waters stood in contrast to the blazing ball of gas Then I am handed desert the same one you see in the pictures The texture and taste is nice enough The ginger on top is a nice touch and addition The only thing I mourn is that I can't come here again on my short vacation here But I got a picture with the staff

As an Asian who grew up eating Asian food, I had always told myself "No way would I ever eat overpriced fancy Asian food." However, there were so many rave reviews about Dailo that I had to try it, and I am so happy I did! We did the premium prix fixe menu ($130/person) and definitely got our money's worth. Also the USD to CAD exchange rate was great when we went, so we got the meal at a discount. The only "drawback" is that even though we are usually fast eaters (typically in and out of a regular sit-down restaurant within 45min), it took us a full 2 hours to get through the prix fixe. So keep that in mind if you scheduled after-dinner plans. Service was excellent though. Food: Items with asterisk * are ones that I would even buy a la carte (in case those of you are skipping the prix fixe option). Double ** would be a definite buy & you have to buy two servings because you won't want to share with your partner. *Tom Yum soup: Tender piece of shrimp with a crisp basil leaf, laid atop a creamy soup with a bit of heat. It started off our meal on a great note. *Smoked trout salad: Light citrusy salad with a tender piece of salty fish. **Octopus tacos:Ccrisp tender octopus with char siu pork belly. Nice heat from Sriracha Mayo type sauce **Smoked scallops: tender fresh scallop contrasted nicely with the toasted rice. I drank up the coconut milk based soup - Fried watermelon with pork floss: This tasted pretty good, but probably not enough to buy separately. - Roasted pork with a crispy skin on sweet and sour sauce: Meat was too chewy, not crispy. **Potato foam with smoked sardines and truffle: An amazing explosion of flavors. I licked the plate, and my partner's plate. *Pumpkin puree dumplings with creamy truffle sauce: This was surprisingly good even though I don't really like pumplin. Truffle cream makes everything taste better. * Moroccan prawn with hollandaise over toast: Briney tender prawn meat with nice crisp toast. I wish I was given more toast to soak up the hollaindaise sauce! - Gailan with toasted oyster mushrooms on truffle tahini: This was the only dish I disliked. I always find steamed gailan to be bland, and this was still the case. - Longevity Escargot noodles with asparagus: Savory creamy sauce with a hint of citrus. Noodles were handmade and nicely cooked. But it was not something I would order separately. - Hainanese chicken rice: Super generous portion size. I have eaten tons of Hainan chicken rice, and this was not particularly special. I am glad it came at the end so it did not spoil my appetite for the delicious appetizers. -Aloe vera and sake sorbet topped with toasted ginger: The meal was so amazing but it ended on this weird dessert note. I hate ginger, and I ate a bit of the toasted ginger and could taste nothing but ginger in my mouth for hours. It eradicated the taste of all the amazing food that came before. The sorbet itself was too cold. Neither me nor my partner ate more than a bite.

Made a reservation for this place after learning it had the best tasting menu in the city - we we're definitely not disappointed! We got the premium tasting menu with the regular wine pairing menu and we 100% think it is worth your money! Starting off with the food: the food was absolutely wonderful. Each dish was so unique and packed with layers of complex flavoured that mixed well together. My personal favourite was definitely the fried watermelon! A super interesting combination done incredibly well: the texture of the fried exterior with the salty meat floss combined with the juicy and sweet refreshing watermelon was truly amazing. Each dish was delicately paired with different wines, all of which I enjoyed thoroughly. I definitely recommend getting the premium taste menu over the regular one. For just $20 more you can get more samples from the kitchen + a bigger dish at the very end (in our case it was the fish!) For the service, it was absolutely amazing as well. Each server took the time to explain the origin of ingredients, the flavour profiles of the dish, and how to eat it! All the servers were so sweet and attentive which made the whole experience so much better. The vibes of this place were very relaxed yet sophisticated, we thoroughly enjoyed it. Overall, this place is definitely worth the hype and I was thoroughly full and satisfied after this. Amazing place to try at least once!

Cool ambiance, great service, everyone was accommodating when we arrived early for our reservation. We had 5 people so we could only do the tasting menu. It was great with wide variety of food and definitely very filling. Only downside is that they don't tell you what dishes are being served as part of the tasting menu (apparently it differs based on the number of people) but there were some dishes my family didn't prefer (i.e. raw beef carpaccio) and I wish they told us beforehand so it could've been swapped out. Overall good experience!

Tried out DaiLo! Great patio to sit at during summer Sunchoke dumplings; super super creamy and decadent. Crispy octopus tacos: I thought the jicama "shell" was nice and gave a very refreshing crispy texture. The octopus was amazingggg and very tender. Rice and hakka pork: very reminiscent of asian style braised pork belly. The pork was an extra 5 bucks Smoked duck bokkeum: it was topped with small pieces of vegetables, gochugaru onion jam, and a few pieces of crispy wild rice. The jam was slightly sweet which paired nicely with the meet topped with sweet jam. It has also had bits of asparagus and carrots The dumpling and tacos were my favourite. The smoked duck bokkeum was decent but is quite expensive for the portion tbh, I wish they had more vegetables or sides accompanying the dish. The rice dish is good for filling up on since the other portions are small. Overall I felt while it was good, the price is quite steep. I think there are other restaurants in the same price range that I like better, or ones with the same quality that are cheaper.

Came here to celebrate my bf's birthday and we both enjoyed the delicious food and drinks. We had the duck as a main and it wasn't too oily, which is something I'm mindful of. I also enjoyed the off-menu tomato salad, but not something I would order again. The highlight of our time at DaiLo was the Tom Yum-inspired drink. It was spicy, refreshing with coconut, and a pleasant surprise.

This restaurant has a great ambiance, it's a very intimate vibe. Tried fried watermelon for the first time, it was ok nothing out of this world. The renaming of our food was tasty and good

Dailo is an unforgettable dining experience. We visited for my fiancée's birthday and decided to go with the premium tasting menu ($130) as we love that it takes us out of the comfort zone. We tried around 10-12 dishes on the menu and were blown away by the techniques, flavours and portions provided. You will definitely be full by the end of it. Our premium menu included wagyu, fresh white and black truffles, seafood flown in from Portugal and so much more. Servers were incredibly nice and attentive. Our glasses were always full, cutlery and plates were replaced after every course. Their attention to detail is incredible. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a special occasion.

This place was recommended by a coworker and I highly recommend as well! My coworker and I made a reservation at 5:45pm on a Wednesday, we ended up staying until 8:30 or 9! There's no rush to finish your food, enjoy and savor it! We both got the premium tasting, but he got the wine pairing in addition. Our server was very gracious and thoroughly descriptive when it came to the wines/sake paired with. Everything was very delicious! I'd say this place is Asian fusion, or a modern take on Asian dishes. There's a lot of mixture in flavors like spicy/sweet/sour, plus a variety of textures from soft to crunchy to some toothy bite. Do the tasting if you're adventurous and wanna try it all! My favorite was perhaps the smoked fish/leaf, just fold it like a taco and you get a lovely mix of fresh green with soft smoky fish! The interior is lovely, a wonderful ambiance and decor. If you look, there's a wok used as a lampshade at one the tables. The wallpaper is gorgeous, even in the bathroom. I loved this place! Will come again if I'm in town.

Like previous reviewers said, 5/5 no questions. When people say elevated Asian cuisine - I just think of overpriced dishes in pretentious vibes. Not this. It's a converted bar with mostly original furniture and a very well appointed bar area. We were templates to go with the tasting menu but decided to have these dishes instead: Fried watermelon Pork belly Truffle Hainese chicken 90 day aged Rib eye (check out the picture) With a super yummy sake that went well with everything. The food is just so innovative and well done. Best of all it's relatively good value given how insane prices are these day in restaurants. I need to come back and try more of the other items on the menu.

Great, bustling ambience served with unique Asian dishes. The Crispy Octopus taco and 90 Day Dry Aged Butcher Shoppe Rib Eye are the must-haves. The taco was so light and delicious that made me wish I had more. The aged beef was spectacular with a mushroom-like taste that's perfect for sharing. Hakka brown wontons is a nice starter, and the truffle hainanese chicken depends if you have this type of chicken often imo.

Visited dailo for the first time after I heard good things from a friend. I tried the tasting menu they offered which was a 5-course menu. The first few courses were very tasty and unique - we really enjoyed the tom yum pudding, pomelo betel leaf, and crispy octopus taco. Also highly recommend the tom yum cocktail! The dumpling course was also great and enjoyable. The final course was where we were disappointed - included the fried trout and choy dish. The choy was great but the fried trout was difficult to eat. We didn't feel satisfied at the end of our meal and didn't find that it was worth the tasting menu price. However, we would come again to try different menu items as I feel like the last course was a miss. Service was good, and the environment is very nice! I would give this spot a 3.5/5.

I really like DaiLo's interesting and delicious take on Asian cuisine. Every dish was unique, and the flavours complemented each other nicely. My favourite has to be the crispy octopus taco. I liked that it was on the warm and doughy "taco". I liked how the tastes were familiar, yet with a surprising twist. I liked everything I ate, and it was a great experience. Try the cocktails too, they're pretty good. The atmosphere felt comforting and it was overall a great dinner.

Been wanting to try this Toronto-New Asian staple for yeaars but I guess I always came at the wrong time (around the holidays) or waited too last min to try to get a reservation. Finally came by last Wednesday with a party of 4, sat outside since it was a beautiful evening and had a lovely experience. Our straightedge party started with a round of mocktails - a couple of Yo La Mangos and a couple of Tom Yum (No) Booze. We all liked the latter a lot more since the Mango one was a bit too sour. For apps, we shared the sunchoke dumplings and 2 orders of the adobo bbq pork belly skewers which was one of their specials that night. The uni was a bit too subtle in the dumplings but still good. The skewers were great. Now for the mains: We absolutely LOVED the smoked duck bokkeum and the 90 day dry aged ribeye! So happy with our choices. Both were sliced into thin strips and each bite was so meaty, tender, tasty. Not sure if they usually have this, but we were told there was a 14oz steak available, so we went with the slightly bigger slab instead of the standard 12oz. No regrets there. The truffle fried rice was also yummy but wasn't as much of a standout as the proteins were. I did love that it came with a side of XO sauce though - very Canto. As a New Yorker visiting, I was shocked to see our bill, to see how affordable this decadent meal was. A slightly upscale meal like this would've cost probably twice as much as we paid here. Highly recommend.

One of favorite culinary highlights while I was in Toronto was a meal at DaiLo. They have so many dishes I wanted to try but I was also planning on going to the bar/restaurant next door for some tapas - I found myself in big dilemma: so much to eat, so little stomach space! DaiLo is an New Asian restaurant. It means "big brother". They have influences from China, Philippines, Burma, Singapore, etc. I knew my top 2 must-tries: truffle fried rice, and octopus tacos. The fried rice doesn't have any meat so, I had to get a protein. Each dish on their menu is meant for 2 people. The server understood my dilemma and told me they can do half portions. So, I went with truffle fried rice, octopus tacos, and duck. As I was reviewing my itinerary for the next day, out came the amuse bouche. And as if that wasn't enough, the chef sent a chicken wing my way. Probably one of the best and tastiest chicken wings from an Asian restaurant I've had. Everything was as good as I had imagined. The truffle fried rice had truffle shavings and not just fairy dust of it. The duck was tender and had a smokey flavor to it and the accompaniments paired well with the duck. The octopus tacos were my favorite - lightly breaded and fried - simple, soft and had enough flavor. Instead of a tortilla, the shell is a thinly-sliced jicama. I knew I was in trouble when the server told me what they had for dessert. I had to get the white chocolate champorrado (Filipino). Champorrado is basically sweet chocolate rice with the consistency of porridge/ congee/ risotto normally eaten with salty dried fish or by itself. DaiLo's version uses white chocolate, sprinkled with cocoa powder topped with tuile. Yum! So, I didn't have the space for tapas after. And it was alright. The service was fantastic! It wasn't just my server but other servers and the manager were checking on me as well. The space is rather small. You have to reserve a table.

Upon entering, you're greeted with a warm and moody ambience (especially nice when you've just escaped the Canada chill). The host quickly pulled up our reservation (making one is highly recommended), but then led us all the way to the very last table in the back, right at the mouth of the kitchen - probably the least aesthetic and most out of place table here. As a result, we encountered a lot of service staff rushing past us on the way to and from the kitchen. Not the most romantic sight for a valentine's dinner... Nonetheless we overlooked this as we were here to enjoy some of the best Chinese fusion food in town. On to the food: we ordered the pho beef carpaccio, the lobster noodle special, and the Smoked Duck Bokkem. You get the unique experience of receiving a feast for the eyes & nose before digging into your dishes - The hearty plating as well as the delicious aroma of these dishes simply waft at you. Out of these three, my partner and I agreed that the lobster noodle special was indeed very special & would 11/10 order again. It was buttery, smoky, warming, filling yet at the same time refined. We also licked the carpaccio plate clean - it indeed tastes like a bowl of delicious pho. The duck, however, was a disappointing end to the meal. The duck pieces themselves were too thick and tasted more like ham. The sauce was too close to ketchup for me. The cocktails here are also very delicious (and have funnily embarrassing names). Overall, we'd definitely come here again.

A hunt for tasting menus brought us here for a celebration. Choices are many and almost everything on the menu seemed like a must try. Hence opted for the tasting menu, which can be tweaked for preferences. The regular testing menu was around $100pp while there was a premium version for $130pp which has a special that changes seasonally. We saw a pic of the fried crab with noodles and were happy to be upsold. You get a TON of food and the equivalent of 2 huge mains. The wontons were a highlight as were the fried lobster noodles. Flavors overall reminded me of Hakka food. I was just happy none of the food was in foam form, as chic as that's supposed to be. The tom yum cocktail was brilliant. In hindsight the premium menu with the massive crab dish was too much for us two and almost the whole thing was doggy bagged. I'd go back and bring more friends here.

What can I say about the place. FANTABULOUS!!!! Everything about this restaurant is FANTABULOUS! The atmosphere, the staff, the food and the drinks are incredible. Each item ypubordse when its is brought to your table is explained what ingredients are used and how it is prepared. Which is so personable it really is nice that they do such a thing. Our sommelier (I did not catch her name) was awesome she explained the wine she suggested for us I do remember her saying that only 4000 bottles of the wine had been produced The wine paired perfectly without meal. The smoked duck, wontons, Octopus tacos and the fried watermelon once again wa FANTABULOUS!!! If your ever in doubt of a great restaurant to try or go to, please do yourself the favor and go to Dialo. I promise you a great meal and a good time. Even down to the music softly playing in the background was good.

We had the vegetarian tasting menu. The food was delicious and quite filling unlike other tasting experiences. However I took one star off for the uncomfortable stool my husband had to sit on for the two hour dinner. Second star deducted for a disappointing dessert. It was a sorbet served as a palate cleanser, then later when we asked for the dessert, we were told that was it. There was also a shrimp based dip given with our fried rice, although we had requested vegetarian.

I went here with my boyfriend to try the DaiLo chef's choice. It is technically a tasting menu but I've noticed they advertise it as a 5 course meal and definitely was more filling than a regular tasting menu. The staff said they prepare it right there and then so they can accomodate any food restrictions. Since we didn't make a reservation, they only had the bar seating available. The service was relatively quick. We had to pay additional $15 per person if we wanted the main to be the giant prawn, which we had. Food overall was pretty diverse. When you hear Asian fusion, it's normally a westernized version of a traditional food, but the Asian fusion here seemed more like another take on the traditional food. It was definitely an experience I recommend anyone to try. Food was definitely filling and the staff was so nice. One thing I noticed was that the bar was really loud and we couldn't hear partially what the staff was saying. My opinions on the DaiLo Chef's choice were: My favorite would have to be the fried watermelon, 90 day aged beef carpaccio and Smoked trout Pomelo Betel Leaf. Surprisingly the least favorite would have been the giant prawn. It was hard to eat the prawn in general and I didn't like how hard the rice was. Overall, definitely a great place. The food is definitely not traditional, but it's an interesting take on Asian food. I think you get good value for all these meals if you get Chef's Choice compared to a la carte. However I won't recommend paying extra 15 bucks for the giant prawn. Try another main instead. Also get reservations ahead of time and try regular dining. The bar seating was less intimate and the chairs were pretty wobbly.

This was a spontaneous dinner reservation made minutes after the Raptors game being evacuated due to the fire that sparked on the arena's speakers. Nonetheless, we were refunded the amount we had paid for our tickets. Thank goodness. We arrived earlier and was seated right away. To my surprise, they accommodated my request for a vegan tasting menu while my three friends could enjoy the regular tasting menu. We were all delighted to learn how large the servings were and our appetite were fulfilled by the main course hence we had to take away the seven main dishes to enjoy later at home. I was very pleased with the variety of dishes made vegan and favourited the brussel sprouts and the aromatic leaf wrap served second. Unfortunately my friends found the main meat course very salty and displeasing, but enjoyed the rest. The staff and chef were very friendly and accommodating. I'll definitely return for the vegan tasting menu and a bigger appetite.

Don't get me wrong, the flavors are great but the amount of food you get for the price they charge requires me to dock 2 stars. If you follow my reviews, you know I'm practical and like to get the best bang for buck. I got: 1. Big Mac Bao - $9 for 1 small bun. Now that I'm looking at the menu description online, I think they forgot to pack me the potato frites because the only thing I got was a bun with meat inside the bun + a very scarce amount of thinly sliced iceberg lettuce. OMG I'm typing this in real-time and they also forgot the pickle! Wow...i should really make this a 2-star review :( 2. Glazed Korean Short Ribs - $14. For some reason, i was thinking ribs like the american style but this was like galbi. It was really flavorful but for 5 thin slices of ribs, i'd pass. The kimchi it came with wasn't even kimchi - I got 1 thin slice of carrot + kimchi scraps if you can even call it that. Dang, the more I type this the more ripped off I'm feeling and now I feel sad 3. Sweet and Sour Chicken with truffle fried rice & XO sauce - $25. Okay unless the XO sauce was mixed in with the fried rice, this was also missing. This was probably the best dish but the amount of fried rice I got from this was probably the size of a small bowl for a toddler As I reflect on my eating experience while typing this, I realize a lot of things were missing from my order (or were skimped on the ingredients). Definitely not ordering here again (even though the flavors were good) because it's not worth it when alls said and done.

Inventive menu, super friendly and accommodating staff. We loved every dish we had here. Standouts included the pho carpaccio, smoked trout on betelnut leaf, and the sun choke dumplings (we were almost not going to order this but we were told that it's a must have so we did it and the waitress was right). The truffled hainanese chicken is sou vided for 4 hours and was pretty good. I can't say it was the best hainanese chicken I've ever had (it was not super tender in parts), but the trio of sauces were spot on. The four grass fried rice could have had more chicken and ginger flavor. The trout dish was quite delicious too. One of the best meals we had in Toronto. Chef Nick Liu helmed the kitchen on a holiday evening. He was humble and kind. I would recommend to anyone visiting Toronto.

Overall a good meal, not great. We got the "tasting" menu but really it's just a showcase of everything on the menu. Still a great value though. The flavours are really unique and the chef really likes to use fermented bean curd to flavour a lot of the menu. I was expecting the watermelon to be a bit more interesting but it was just ok. The octopus/pork belly taco was INCREDIBLE. Crunchy, juicy, fatty, it was so good. The wontons were a letdown, kind of just tasted like supermarket wontons with some viet peanut butter sauce. The whole fish dish was a bit dry and we didn't really want to finish it all the way. The dessert was pretty cool too, aloe Vera sorbet with some ginger crumble. So refreshing and a great way to finish a meal. I think the best thing is actually the drinks. Very unique flavours and would definitely come back just for them. Can't remember what the drink was but it was lemongrassy? Really tasty and highly recommended. Also had some kind of special old fashioned, that was ok and nothing really different from a regular old fashioned. Great place to try new flavours!

Food was tasty but I did not like their packaging. Usually when I order tasting menus or a la carte they have suggested reheating methods. I didn't like how they didn't have any clue or suggestions on how to reheat their food if it's been travelling for 20 minutes even when I called. I expected a bit more from a place like dailo... onto the dish review Burmese tofu - I liked the crunch and different textures from the mushrooms, bean sprouts, fried little condiments, chilies and etc. It was definitely flavourful! Lamb rendang- flavourful and meaty with a side of asian herb salad. It came with two big pieces of bones with a heavy set of meat. I'd recommend this. Smoked duck breast - I liked their sauce and veggies. Came with about 6 thin slices of duck breast with a nice sauce. Good combo with some truffle fried rice. Sweet and sour cauliflower - I liked this a lot! Tastes like a sweet and sour pork but with cauliflower! I usually don't like cauliflower in general, but I liked their version. Big Mac bao- okay.. a small portion for the price but the sauce, shredded lettuce, and thin crispy potatoes did remind me of a Big Mac. Hakka wontons - nothing too crazy about this if you're used to Chinese shrimp wontons Rib eye - Don't get their dry aged rib eye.. doesn't taste as good for take out compared to when it's made fresh off the grill. One less star for their customer service and packaging. They were condescending when I called even though we ordered so many dishes from them.

Impeccable service in a beautiful simple space. Fried watermelon 5/5 a must try for the uniqueness, flavour, and great quantity to share Octopus tacos 4/5 taste is amazing but small portion Pumpkin dumplings 5/5 I would bottle and drink the filling + sauce that comes with these dumplings if I could Truffle fried rice 3.5/5 really nice but nothing too memorable compared to other dishes Will definitely be back! Also get the Tom Yum cocktail if you like sweet + heat!

Ya. Overall, an easy 5/5. Was well full from the chefs choice - recommend it, easily. Service was 5/5 - having multiple servers was fun, they all had their own personalities that came out. Tom Yum Booze and the Whiskey sour were both great to start. Ambiance was great, lively on a Wednesday night. Not silent and high-brow. The lighting was warm and the place felt rustic. Their tea cups were pretty luxurious. The food blew my mind. Their chef's choice was different from each table, and it's a secret before hand, but we were told we could say if we wanted anything specific. The food though. All of it, was good and I can't recommend anything because it was just all amazing. Would come again anytime

Great meal and service. Book a reservation, get dressed up, go for the chef's tasting. Enjoy a great meal. All the staff were friendly and explained every course in the chef's tasting menu. The meal took nearly 3 hours so plan accordingly.

Great food ! price is fair and the vibe is fun. The place itself doesn't look very nice but it delivers on the delicious food and well thought out courses. The hargow and dumplings were next level. The soundtrack playing in the background was oldies but they were on point! I was surprised at how good this place is - you need to do yourself a favour and try it out. rarely do i have a 10 course meal and not mind something to complain about - Servers were friendly and knowledgeable I appreciated the experience and realize that Dailo is underrated hidden gem type of place. Drinks could use some excitement but food was stellar. I will be back

Came here with three others and we got the tasting menu (DaiLo's choice). Service: Our server, Shannon was fabulous. There were a few dishes we were keen on trying and Shannon made sure they were included as a few of the courses. She was accommodating, attentive and when she overheard plans for an upcoming birthday, she even brought out a birthday treat that was on the house. Food: Smoked Trout Pomelo Betel Leaf 5/5 Crispy Octopus Taco 5/5 Hakka Brown Wontons (pork & shrimp) 3/5 Fried Watermelon 4/5 90 Day-Aged Beef Carpaccio 3/5 Smokey Pea Dumpling 10/5 Truffle Fried Rice 4/5 Whole Fried Giggie Trout 5/5 Special dish just cause it was fresh and available, gigantic prawns the size of small lobsters 10/5. This was served on a bed of rice in a Caramelized fish sauce similar to a comfort food Vietnamese preparation. It was crazy tasty. We were super excited to try the carpaccio but it was a little heavy in the soy sauce which made it too salty to be enjoyed. Luckily two of the diners love salt and gladly helped finish it. The Smokey pea dumplings were scrumptious. The broth was rich and complex in flavour. There was an indescribable depth to it which made us want to slurp it. Drinks: We loved the Tom yum booze and especially the phi phi's garden. Phi phi's garden was simple enough that we figured out how to make our own knock off version later. It was definitely worth the try though cause I would not have thought to combine cucumber with aloe for such a refreshing beverage. It will be served at my next bbq for sure. We all agreed we want to return to get larger portions of the items we loved. Along with trying a few other items we didn't.

For our 5 years anniversary, we went to DaiLo to try their unique Asian inspired and modernized cuisine. We got their Truffle Fried Rice, 90 Day Dry Aged Butcher Shoppe Ribeye, and their Fried Watermelon. The fried watermelon was unique and because of the fleshy and juicy melon, the fried exterior really balances the dish. Definitely a dish that we have not tried anywhere else before. We also really loved the mushroom sauce on top of the super tender and soft 90 day aged ribeye. The ribeye was cooked perfectly on the inside and seared deliciously on the outside. We also loved the crunchiness the truffle fried rice had and the XO sauce on the side really brings back some nostalgic memories. We also got some unique cocktails on their drinks menu. We got their Tom Yum Booze and their Notice Me, Sasuke cocktails. The Tom Yum booze definitely tasted like the soup, but had a great alcoholic and sweet twist to it. The Notice Me, Sasuke, was definitely a sweeter drink and I specially enjoyed the strawberry peach soju. The service in the restaurant was professional and great too. Overall, the food was delicious, and brought back some familiar Chinese memories. However, it was a little bit on the pricier side. We would absolutely come back again and maybe try some new dishes on a special occasion.

The food at Dailo is amazing!! Full of flavours (very good flavours) the dishes are unique unlike anything else. There is a 5 course tasting menu for 95 / PP if you want to try more flavours. This place is a must dry, has a cute patio outside also.

Service 4/10 Food 3/10 My husband and I have been visiting Toronto and decided to make a reservation here due to the high reviews. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. First I have to say that Dailo received recognition as a top Toronto restaurant for 2022. They were packed and had people coming in even after 9:30. However like I said, my husband and I were disappointed and left the restaurant unsatisfied. First of all, our waiter made the experience less enjoyable. He rarely came around, which might be due to the volume. But despite giving him the benefit of the doubt, it felt like he often left our table unattended. He said he'd refill our water, and it ended up being someone else who helped out when we asked after we waited for 30+ minutes. He also made some weird comments like "you were lucky to get a table when we're so packed", like we had walked in without a reservation. My husband and I thought it was funny that other waiters came to our table a few times to make sure we were okay, and multiple times they serviced us better and quicker. When we were about to leave, we also heard another waiter for a table who just sat down introduce the menu and a "secret item" (the bao) not included on the written menu. Unfortunately our waiter had failed to mention this to us. I would've given the service a lower rating, but I think we may have just gotten a bad server. Next, and MOST importantly, food. First of all, it was WAY too salty. Most of the dishes we thought were extremely salty. This was true for the Carpaccio, the pea dumplings, fish, and truffle fried rice. While the dishes had some Asian influence, I think there was a lack of balance in all the ingredients used. For example, the Carpaccio is a nod to Chinese braised beef shank + the sauce it normally is served with. However, when eating it, there is normally a balance of the meat and the sauce. We were told to let the oils drip off the meat before eating, which we did, but honestly we mainly tasted the salty sauce. The fish dish was extremely underwhelming to me. First, some pieces were a little bitter, and second the fish was super salty which made dipping it into the provided sauces even less enjoyable. The sauces weren't anything spectacular either. They were the typical braised soy sauce fish sauce, a sweet chili sauce you can find in the packets, and another one. The last, and probably most upsetting was the fried rice. First of all, it lacked resemblance to "fried rice". I felt like they tried to make the dish complex by adding somewhat seemed like purple rice and some puffed rice in there. But it didn't help when the white rice was coated with soy sauce and soggy as can be. As you took a bite, you got soggy, salty rice, something hard which idk was one of the other rice, and some burnt garlic flavor. If you haven't noticed, I haven't mentioned the summer truffle in this "truffle fried rice", that's because it was honestly completely overshadowed and overwhelmed by the rest of the "fanfare". The rice came with XO sauce, which usually makes everything better, but in this case it didn't help. Overall, I DO NOT suggest this restaurant to anyone. During my trip to Toronto, I've had both super fancy, small mom and pop shops, and later chain restaurants, all that gave me a more enjoyable experience than here. If you're wondering if we were the only ones that thought the food was salty, I can attest to hearing some neighboring diners say the same thing. Lastly, if you're looking for nice "Asian food" this is not it. If anything, I can see the Asian influence, but I don't think it did it any justice. (There was also an aloe sake sorbet at the end. Which I didn't take a photo of. It was fine. It really tasted like a store bought aloe drink. It came with a buttery egg roll biscuit, which tasted great but you can also find those at an Asian grocery store. At that point we wanted to leave so I didn't even care to take a photo.)

Came back to Dailo for a second time to try their tasting menu and we were not disappointed. First of all, the Dailo team was very considerate of us not wanting to repeat dishes. The entire experience felt like we came back to a different restaurant. Our server was great. We wanted to start with espresso martinis but because they don't have an espresso machine they made us a boozy viet coffee. We also had the last square drink which was extremely boozy. The meal started with a watermelon amuse bouche, which was very refreshing. Then we had the octopus/pork tacos - a must try! After that we had the most amazing poke bowl and beef carpaccio. The carpaccio was covered in pickled peaches and crispy garlic - a really unique dish. Then we had the gnocchi in truffle sauce, which was extremely rich and indulgent. We also got the pork/shrimp wontons here. The pork skewers melted in your mouth, and needed no chewing. The soft shell crab tomato dish was a special - the chef grew the tomatoes in his backyard. We ended with a massive boat of steak, and truffle fried rice - which we took home because we were stuffed. If you're looking for indulgence in Toronto, Dailo is the place to go!

Since DaiLo opened its doors in 2014, Chef Nick Liu has demonstrated the breadth and depth of modern Chinese food in a lively setting. A large proportion of the menu highlights a French twist on Chinese food, but there's also a good proportion of Filipino and Italian influences, such as the Szechuan braised beef rib gnocchi. For those in search of inventive dishes with equally amusing wine pairings, this is the place where uniqueness shines.

It's been a while since being at dailo, and food continues to be fantastic. Wife & I agreed that how they serve all their food piping hot was a huge plus and service is always amazing. They also have complimentary sparkling water and actually note this... Love it! There were 2 things that disappointed me that I was really looking forward to after all this time cooped up... But will give the benefit of the doubt. Truffle Fried Rice: this definitely was not as "truffley" as before. Other than 2 thinly sliced pieces of truffle on top of the rice, there wasn't any truffle flavour. Feel like a few (more?) drops of truffle oil would've blown this dish out of the world. Smoked trout Betel Leaf : for a $7 one-bite, for some reason I thought this had more of a punch... Maybe I'm confusing it with another place that served something similar on a shiso leaf. The smoked trout was great but the Betel Leaf wasn't too flavourful. A leaf with more of a flavour punch would be nice :) The things that I enjoyed and would highly recommend are: pork hock, Giggie fish (definitely order!) and the Tom yum booze (best cocktail) We also ordered the weekly special Ox tail, which came with bok Choy, jasmine rice, and fried eggplant for $35. This dish was quite good and Ox tail fell off the bone with great coconut flavour. It was a bit wet but thoroughly enjoyed. All in all, it was a very good dinner with good atmosphere, good service, and delicious food. A bit on the pricey end depending on what & how much you order, and expect to spend about $100+ per person, more if you order cocktails/drinks Cheers

The food was absolutely amazing. We decided the go with Chef's Choice and it was the best decision. There were 5 dish which got better with each dish. We also asked them to suggest a sake that would pair well and their in-house sommelier gave us three options to chose from. Service was amazing as well. .

A new flavor experience in several ways. I enjoy that. Especially when it's tasty. The whole fried freshwater fish was a treat, I'm not too much of a fresh water fish eater. It tasted a bit like fresh salmon.

Good food and unique flavours but found it a bit pricey for whats it worth. Came here on a Sunday evening to a somewhat empty restaurant that filled up slowly throughout the night. Dishes were flavourful but expensive. The portions are also quite small so if you want to fill up, you'll need to spend quite a bit. I may personally struggle a bit with fusion Chinese restaurants as I often find similarily tasty food for significantly cheaper in traditional restaurants. Worth a try but I won't be a regular!

(pre-covid) The third time here in a while and was slightly disappointed. I feel like the quality and flavors were not as authentic as it previously was. Had the fried watermelon which was sweet and savory. It was just ok. The wontons however were too sweet and saucy. The beef tartare was served on a fried rice cake and didnt have that crunch. The pumpkin dumplings were a bit too sweet. The jellyfish salad was very plain and missing depth. The highlight was the fish, as it was crispy and the three sauces it was served with were delicious too.

Where do I start with this place. It's Asian fusion done really well. My friends and I booked a table here way in advance. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it was complete packed. We ordered the fried watermelon, lobster over a bed of noodles, truffle fried rice and duck over dark blue pottato salad. Food here is pricey, but the portions and service here is great. We literally devoured everything off our plate. The breading on the watermelon and the soft texture inside is a must try. The ginger scallion lobster over some fried noodles provided a nice crunch. The duck was cooked perfected all the fresh veggies played by it complimented the dish very well. Overall the food was really good. 4 entrees was plenty for 4 people. I'd highly recommend what dishes are specials and off menu. The lobster was not on the menu but we'll worth it

I had heard a little buzz about Dai Lo from some friends visiting from out of town. They raved about their Chef's menu and I knew I had to try it. I made reservation a couple days ahead of time... for a Wednesday dinner. They had no problem fitting us in. My first impression was a classy fusion between asian and western decor. Cozy, and not at all pretentious. I had to wait about 20 minutes for my friend, but I ordered myself a cocktail. The staff were polite and didn't give me a hard time about not being ready on time. We selected the Chef's choice menu and we had absolutely no idea what an emotional, and gastronomical adventure awaited us. If I go over my photos, I think I can count 11 separate dishes. Some small, some sizeable... all unique and heavenly. All of that for $67 pp?!? It's a steal. I am not going to describe all the items, because I don't want to spoil it for you (and I don't recall). I really appreciate that they check for allergies and general dislikes before you start ordering. They explain each dish carefully and give you enough time between the dishes to savour and enjoy every bite. If you are not able to finish the last few dishes, they will pack it up for you. Left over fried rice + braised beef for lunch...mmm Just like this review, I can ramble on about Dai Lo and not make any sense. I highly recommend you experience it for yourself.

I'm not one to frequent bougie restaurants, but I was invited to DaiLo by a friend and had such an incredible experience. First of all, the service was top quality. Our server took the time to explain the origins of every dish, specials for the day, and checked in regularly throughout our meal. You can tell he really knew his stuff. The three of us opted to order à la carte and share a few dishes (2 apps, 2 mains, and 1 dessert): (I) Hakka Brown Wontons (II) Eggplant Agedashi* (III) Truffle Fried Rice (IV) King Cole Smoked Duck Bokkeum (V) Peach Mango Sfogliatella* *Daily Specials No words will do the food justice, so here are just a few brief comments. My favourite was by far the eggplant agedashi. I was so obsessed with the broth and had to finish every last drop. The sauce on the wontons was also delicious. The rice wasn't anything particularly stand-out to me, though anything with truffle always tastes quite nice. The duck sauce was slightly overpowering, but such gorgeous presentation certainly balanced that out. When pitching the dessert, the waiters described it as similar to the peach mango pie of Jollibee's. Definitely very similar flavours. I absolutely love that there were influences from various regions of Asia. Each dish was unlike anything I'd tried before, and I would seriously consider coming back for the tasting menu despite it being quite out of my ordinary meal budget.
