"This tiny joint on the Big Island serves what many consider the planet's best poke (raw-fish salad). In fact, Yelp ranked it No. 1 among America's top 100 places to eat in 2014. Go traditional with just salt, limu kohu (seaweed), and inamona (a roasted-candlenut relish) for toppings. Or opt for a more contemporary twist with anything from onions to avocado aioli, perhaps paired with a side of crisp kimchi cucumbers. Be forewarned: This casual spotruns on island time so don't expectexact adherence to business hours."

They probably have the BEST poke on the island. I’m so glad we were able to go on our last day in Hawaii and we were lucky there wasn’t a big line. I got a poke bowl and they give you a lot of poke. The poke was amazing and the fish tasted so fresh. My favorite was the Shack Special. They even have pork dishes for those of you who don’t like ahi. Parking can be a little tough here. I would recommend parking on the street or by the market and walking over.

We visited Da Poke Shack yesterday for lunch and it’s been our favorite poke spot of our trip so far. We ordered 3 small poke bowls and combined the spicy garlic and the shack special together. The lady behind the counter was very helpful and super friendly. Highly recommend!!

One of my “must visit” poke places when I travel to the Big Island. Come early as their selection goes pretty quickly. After 2PM and you maybe too late. As named, it is a shack. Nice shack with outdoor picnic bench seating.

Their fish is cut on the smaller side and so I found the shoyu options a bit too salty. I personally prefer larger cut pieces so you can taste the fish more (not just heavy seasoning). The prices are also steep for the amount given. I was left wanting more after the small bowl! Definitely order the larger option for a full meal! The shop employees are really lovely though and it’s easy to order. As a whole I would prefer another shop over this one

The poke was spectacular. The parking, not so much!! I really enjoyed the poke, and they had a lot of unique meats and options. I don't think there was anything cooked - it was mainly raw seafoods and such. You'll love it if you're an adventurous eater. The only complaint is that the parking lot is so tiny - it fits like 10 cars, but it is very difficult to get out. Don't park in this parking lot if you are a newer driver, if you don't have a rear view camera, or if you're uncomfortable in small spaces. You may be able to park on the sides of the streets instead.

We went at lunch rush which was busy, but for what seemed like two people working, the line moved quickly. Parking is pretty limited, but lots about 1/8 of a mile down provide enough spots within walking distance. We got a bowl and a plate. Your eyes will deceive you - the plate is a ton of food.

Very delicious and fresh poke. It was nice that they had clams and scallops and not just fish.

The poke was amazing so so so good, flavorful and there were lots of options! Wet Hawaiian and the seaweed I would recommend. Although the shop did smell weird it was totally worth it and there was nothing wrong with the food.
