Coul House Hotel

This is honestly the best hotell I've stayed at. A special thanks to the owners, manager and all the staff who made our stay unforgettable. Our group really appreciated the personal service, we felt really taken care of during our whole stay. The house is gorgeous, as are the rooms which have the most incredibly comfortable bed! We especially enjoyed reading the yearly progress reports we found in a folder in our rooms! ||The food served here is delicious as well. Breakfast was perfect and we really loved that it was cooked to order rather than buffet style. We had dinner 2 of the nights we stayed and the food was just exceptional, the homemade bread and ice cream especially so. ||We will definitely be back!

Very elegant hotel. The grounds are beautiful with lots of trails you can hike. They have a cute fairy trail that we took. Food and service was wonderful. The venison was very tender and delicious. Beds are comfortable. Lots of stairs and no lift, so be prepared for that.

Well from the beautiful setting outside to the warm welcome inside. Smiles on all the faces that greet you and talk with you. No question going unanswered and knowledge of the locality and specialities on offer was unsurpassed. Thats just for starters. |Rooms were comfortable and inviting. Facilities were without question cared for and kept. |And then the food……. Calves liver, Mash and lardons , Sweet potato purée and broccoli. 10/10 all the way. ||And finally, the Whiskey menu………|I shall leave it there||I haven’t even checked out yet 😁|They will need to do something extraordinary to spoil this

We stayed for one night and had a lovely experience. Our room was spacious, with beautiful views overlooking the gardens at the back of the hotel. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, allowing us to enjoy a great night’s sleep. There was plenty of wardrobe space to hang our clothes, and the bathroom was well equipped with a generously sized shower and a separate bath. We dined in the hotel restaurant, and the meal was delicious. There was an excellent selection of dishes with great flavours. I also appreciated the staff’s recommendation of a local gin, which was a lovely touch. After dinner, we enjoyed a quick stroll through the gardens, which provided the perfect way to wind down before heading back to our room. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Breakfast the next morning was equally delightful, with a good variety of options. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel in a charming location, and I’d love to return for another visit.

We stayed for the one night, to celebrate our joint 60th birthdays. Lovely time had by all, we stayed in a superior double , and had an absolutely beautiful, melt in the mouth steak for dinner. All the staff deserve praise, thank you all very much.

We were staying as part of a wedding party and I have to agree with a previous review that Coul House is lovely, grounds are really well looked after, staff are excellent, food is very good and the building is very welcoming. Nothing seemed to much trouble.||The bedroom and bathroom were on the small side, but our view (we were at the back) was fantastic.||It does seem a little overpriced.

We have stayed before and it's been wonderful. This time we made the mistake of staying elsewhere and after the first night came here for lunch and book in for next week having cancelled other bookings. We were in quite an upset state but oh how we were looked after and soon started feeling better. We came for evening meal too resisting our instinct to decamp to Coul House which didn't make economic sense.|We had a lovely evening meal, thanks Gary :) lovely to talk to the chef who cooks your food. Great flavours :) |So we are back next week for a couple of nights and have learned our lesson the hard way! only book Coul House! You will never be disappointed :) thank you.

Stopped for lunch on the way back from the Hebrides. Excellent, old fashioned service, we felt very spoiled and valued as customers. Delicious food and wonderful ambience. The building and grounds are from a time gone by. The history of the building is all around, on the paintings on the walls. A real Downton experience and value for money. We cannot recommend this gem highly enough and we will make it a fixture on our calendar for future holidays. Thank you.

Outstanding in every way. 1. Accoms: clean, comfortable, and the owner and staff will do anything to make your accommodation perfect in every way. 2. Atmosphere: old elegant historic yet Scottish charmed and on point. 3. Food: not what we expected. Surprisingly high end 3-3.5 Michelin Stars and exceptionally crafted. Cooked to perfection. Keep the chef and kitchen staff. Every meal was spot on; fresh, tasty, and picture ready. Breakfast was also outstanding. A full Scottish breakfast was undeniably memorable. 4. Service: 5 star. Every staff member we interacted with had the exact amount of decorum and judgement to make every guest feel welcomed and comfortable. 5. Owners: charming, and interact with guests doing whatever is needed to treat you like a VIP. WE WILL RETURN!! Thank you for the memory.

This was an excellent hotel. Very clean. The menu for dinner was excellent and the food was top notch. The staff was totally professional and makes you very comfortable. The whole theme was to relax.

We spent the night at the hotel and enjoyed both their full dinner and Scottish breakfast. Both were excellent. The dinner service is very traditional. They seat you in the bar or lounge with the menu and you order from there. They seat you in the dining room when the food is ready to be served. We had for different entrees and enjoyed them all. The service was spectacular, as well. The breakfast was pretty standard but very good and they accommodated special orders with no trouble.

We had booked two nights at the Tullock Castle Hotel. We were so disappointed with the condition of the hotel and the bed was awful. We checked out early and called the Coul House Hotel. Fortunately they had a room available and we moved over to Coul House. It was beautiful and well maintained with beautiful gardens. Everything was what we had hoped for. We had dinner at the hotel and it was delicious. The food was great and the staff was perfect. Can't recommend it enough.

We highly recommend Coul House Hotel. We stayed 5 nights and were treated like family. The food was superb and the hospitality was outstanding. I usually don't leave reviews, but I just had to as Stuart and Susannah, the owners, helped make our stay in Scotland so memorable. If you find yourself anywhere near Inverness do yourself a favor and spend a few nights at Coul House Hotel.

We only ate lunch here, but it was one of the more memorable meals on our journey. We pretty much stumbled across the place after a hike made us hungry and miles from any type of city. We followed the sign and almost gave up halfway up the hill when we saw another sign telling us to keep going. The lady at the desk welcomed us and suggested either the lounge or dining room; we chose the lounge. I had a daily soup, asparagus and smoked fish, which was some of the best soup I'd ever had. The smoked salmon sandwich with cucumbers on a baguette was also amazing. The beer was lovely too. The service was warm, friendly and impeccable. We would love to stay a few nights someday.

Stopped overnight here and was very very sorry we couldn't stay longer. Stunning setting, friendly people, beautiful breakfast - and unlike most of these sort of hotels in Scotland, modernized just to the right amount, without losing any of the ambience. Highly highly recommend!
