Copal Tulum Hotel

Beautiful scenery and architect. Feels like you're living in a rain Forrest. 10 min walk to all the restaurants and bars. Hotel was clean and quite. Staff was very kind and helpful. Pool was very nice but no hot tub unfortunately. However the weather is warm so no need for it really. I would stay here again.

We booked a last-minute trip to Tulum to celebrate my daughters’ birthday, and our stay at Copal was wonderful! The hotel is beautifully designed with a perfect blend of comfort and aesthetics. The rooms were spacious, clean, and cozy. The staff went above and beyond—always kind, attentive, and eager to assist. I also appreciated the added security of knowing that the taxis were registered when they picked us up, which made us feel safe on our girls-only trip. Communication with the hotel was seamless through WhatsApp, making the entire booking and stay process incredibly easy. We highly recommend Copal for anyone visiting Tulum!

Beautiful hotel. The entire staff was very nice and extremely helpful. The 24/7 service is great, especially when in tulum. The room was a bit smaller than expected but the bed was comfortable and the shower had great water pressure. The sushi restaurant was so good we went back a second night. The downstairs restaurant was good as well.

Terrible Stay – Health Hazard, Unsafe Environment, and Poor Management Our experience at Copal Tulum was, unfortunately, the worst we’ve ever had at a hotel. We booked this property expecting a safe, clean, and enjoyable stay, but it was the complete opposite. Here’s why: 1. Health Hazards in the Room The room we were given had a severe mold issue, which was not only unpleasant but posed serious health risks. We have a 6-month-old daughter and we couldn't stay at this location. To make matters worse, we found multiple dead insects scattered throughout the room. It was absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that advertises itself as a premium stay. 2. No Security, Stray Dogs Roaming Freely The front desk is literally on the street with no proper security measures in place. Stray dogs were seen roaming around the reception area and even had access to the rooms. We were constantly on edge, wondering what other wildlife might wander in. There are no doors or any form of restriction to prevent access to the hotel or the rooms, making it feel unsafe. 3. Unsafe Neighborhood The surrounding area is not safe or welcoming. We saw people burning plastic, which released toxic fumes that filled the air and made it nearly impossible to enjoy any outdoor space. The smell was overwhelming, and we couldn’t let our baby outside due to the poor air quality. 4. Terrible First Impressions The front desk itself is not even a proper facility—it’s on the street, exposed to the elements and the chaos of the neighborhood. This is not the kind of reception you expect when arriving at a hotel that markets itself as high-end. We just fled from staying at Copal Tulum, the health risks, lack of security, and unsafe surroundings made us run away, we didn't even checked-in, I just took the attached pictures to show the real state of this hotel. This hotel should not be operational in its current state, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, especially families.

Thank you so much for a great stay! Convenient location, courteous and very caring staff! We were given a slightly dark room at first, but after a couple days we were changed to a great spacious and bright room at the top! I would like to see the gym area expanded a bit, but overall everything is great! We loved it and will definitely be back!

I recently stayed at Copal for Zamna and had an amazing time. The staff was always so helpful and always ensured I felt safe and could get any help I needed. The studio room was great for 2 people. The jungle vibe of the hotel was so peaceful and relaxing. I was very sad to leave and will definitely come back!

This hotel/condo was a relief. It actually looked like it did in photos. It was peaceful and relaxing, well equipped. The staff was excellent and friendly. We spent a week there in their 1 br apt with a private dipping pool. I was ready to sell our place and move in. It is set in a jungle atmosphere. The aroma of Copal fills the evening air each night. They were just doing some repairs after the recent hurricane but you couldn’t tell. Draw backs is location, but only in the evening, as in all places be careful. Most of Tulum is still old Mexico which is rich in culture; but other than their own two restaurants there is nothing but local family owned small eateries nearby. Which we did get a couple of meals from. Everything else is within driving distance. The parking there was safe. Make this a retreat… you won’t be sorry.

Nice hotel, comfortable rooms. Very chill and young vibe. We had a studio so it was very spacious and had a nice balcony. The spa looked pretty nice but I didn’t have time to use the services. It’s got a jungle vibe. No room service but you can always order food on the app.
