Continental Deli Bar Bistro

First time at Continental Deli and it certainly won’t be my last! The cheese plate was one of the best selections of cheese I’ve ever had. And the space itself was so nice sitting by the front window. The wines are on the more pricey side but they are also very good. Staff and service were amazing!

I recently visited Continental Deli Bar Bistro in Newtown with a group of six, and we had a fantastic time sampling their offerings. While I love anchovies and had high hopes for the Nardin White Anchovies based on a recommendation, I found them lacking in flavor compared to regular anchovies. For a group, I recommend getting a few cheese and deli meats to share, along with sharing mains to try a bit of everything. The raw scallops were excellent, and the sardine on toasted brioche is a must-try. I also quite enjoyed the roasted octopus. Don't skip dessert—Flan in a Can is a standout. Additionally, the Espresso Martini in a can was delicious. Overall, Continental Deli Bar Bistro offers a delightful dining experience with a variety of tasty dishes to enjoy.

Immaculate tasty bites, fabulously tasty wine, stylishly prepared, cooked and presented. Incredible food! Not to be missed. Makes me feel like I’m in Italy or even Melbourne. Don’t miss out!

This location is all class! We enjoyed a lovely Friday afternoon loooooong lunch. We were seated upstairs. Unfortunately not accessible as it is an inner west old terrace. Although seating downstairs is accessible. It was a beautiful warm and sunny spring day. The sun coming into the windows made the aesthetics of the upstairs dining room just perfect. We enjoyed the banquet and added the tartare and scallop dishes. Every Single Dish was marvellous!!!! Well seasoned. Soo tasty. I mean those leeks! And the acidity coming through in the tartare. I could go on… but you get the picture. Oh…and the desserts!! 🤤 the flan is just perfect as was the Neapolitan in a can. The staff were polite, helpful and genuine. Made excellent wine recommendations. And…if you happen to have Josh on shift…he might treat you with something special. Highly rate!

I ordered all the starters, 2 entrees (leek vinaigrette + mushroom salad) and main (House made sausage). All divine! Thank you for a wonderful evening, slowly eating my way through the menu. I definitely will return and perhaps, with my date, once I have a lady to bring (*wink*). You helped with my research (*wink*). Old school 80's/90's hits pumping in the background with the occasional, rapper and independent cover. Waiting staff are incredibly attentive. Newtown establishments are well known for their customer service and speed. Please come! Winter menu being served currently. This arrangement changes with the seasons, please come try. Mr. Attentive helped me choose which items Ms. Smiley was such a joy to talk to. Mr. Slickback Hair worked the bar, the table was always clean. Ms. 'Constantly stirring, capping bottles/ tasting' was always on high alert. Mr. Widerimmed Black glasses helped everyone. Ms. 'I will refill all the glasses/restock' covered the floor. Ms. 'No one has a hairbun more elegant than mine' walked from kitchen to floor throughout the evening. Wonderful effort team Nightlife is certainly entertaining with cheap eats like ice cream, kebabs, catch a show at theatre and live music. There's plenty to see and eat throughout the many suburbs of Surry Hills, Paddington, Camperdown, Newtown, Redfern and Haymarket.

THE FOOD. For a cold cut sandwich, this was one of the best things I have tried. Real Italian deli with freshly cut ingredients right as you order. Their meats are deliciously thin and abundant. The portions are pretty big. The lettuce was dipped in a vinaigrette that pairs well with the nutty flavors of cheese and salami. THE SERVICE. The lady at the front was super nice. I really wanted cheese with my sandwich (which wasn’t on the menu) and she didn’t mind going out of her way to add that in for us.

This deli/bistro combines classy style with a surprisingly elegant dining area. It’s the kind of local spot that impresses 🤫 Our lunch was a delight with starters like beef tartare and their housemade chips, leek vinaigrette with maple dijon dressing, and a tasty sardine on toast. But the real star was the French dip roasted beef sirloin sandwich – a deluxe choice with generous premium beef and excellent baguette, served with a beef jus for dipping. Absolutely worth the visit!

A Newtown staple. Always consistently good. With a new chef coming in what we tried is very exciting. The pork belly is a must. Service as always was spot on- friendly, informative and welcoming.
