Conscious Hotel Amsterdam City (The Tire Station)

A fabulous discovery in Amsterdam. I've stayed at countless hotels in this city but this was great! Just out of the centre, but hardly far away, but enough that you aren't swamped by wandering lost smoked out tourists looking for fun. Spacious double room, with powerful show and comfortable bed. Fast internet. Never ate breakfast there, but the staff were always welcoming and smiled and waved hello on arriving and departing. You can leave your luggage in a locked room before you are allowed to check in, or even after, so that's very handy. Will definitely return.

Everything was great. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious enough. We were especially pleased with the friendliness and hospitality of the staff. The hotel is 3 km from the city center. During our 3-day stay, we walked to and from the center on 2 days. It is also close to tram stops. We wouldn’t hesitate to choose it again for our next visit.

Staff was exceptionally helpful. Breakfast was a little overpriced since I found non-vegan savoury options not that good and pretty limited. Location was perfect, close to 3 tram stops and walking distance from vondelpark. Also, ceiling walls were thin and there was frequent thumping from rooms on next floor.

The hotel was nice and clean, rooms were big enough, hotel staff were very friendly. Located about a 30/40 minute walk from the centre but the walk through Vondelpark in the morning was lovely and the hotel a few hundred metres from a tram stop when you want to get in and come home at night. Would definitely recommend and if I come back to the city would stay again

I am previous hotel guest - I stayed at the Conscious Hotel Tire Station 2 weks ago. I have accidentally dropped my bank card at the hotel / close to the hotel. A stranger found my card, came to the reception where I got identified as a hotel guest. Instead of keeping my card safely at the reception, one of the colleagues, let a stranger walk away with my bank card who left phone number at the reception instead, for me to call when I'm back. When I came back to the hotel, I noticed that my room card got blocked, hence I went down to the reception and that's when I got informed about the situation. I have been very unhappy with two facts: - Letting a stranger walking away with my card while I was clearly a hotel guest - Instead of calling me on my phone (as they had all my contact numbers), the colleague decided to block my room card instead When we called the number, it turns out the person who had my card, already called my bank to block my card. I've been on a business trip while I had a flight the next day. During the next day, when I shared this situation with the reception, the person said that the management will reach out to me, regarding this situation. Two weeks have passed since this incident, and I have not received any formal apology about this inconvenience. Other than this incident, the location was good, the room was okay for it's price. Yet this incident has ruined my experience and perception of the hotel.

This is an easy enough hotel to travel to – take Tram 17 from Centraal Station to Surinameplein and it’s a really short walk from there. Despite being away from most other hotels this is actually very well located – you can easily walk to the Museum Quarter, Vondelpark is around the corner, Tram 1 runs by it taking you into the corners of the city centre that Tram 17 doesn’t, there are enough decent restaurants nearby and Foodhallen is within walking distance. The immediate area seems safe enough – I walked around everywhere never having to worry about anything. A special mention should also be made for the nearby upmarket area that lies south of Vondelpark – surely one of the nicest neighbourhoods in all of Europe.||Inside though it’s a real mixed bag! It’s all modern and probably aimed at a younger crowd. The rooms are quite large by Amsterdam standards – remember this is a city where the houses are so narrow partly due to limited space (and historical tax reasons), the en-suite bathrooms are perfectly functional and the beds are comfortable. However the rooms are probably more spartan than they need be – surely there should be room for a small table, not everything seems to get cleaned in the mornings, the bedding and towels are really very ordinary, a lot of the TV channels aren’t available when they probably should be and although the air-conditioning is quiet the temperature is very difficult to get right - +20 is too warm, +19 is too cold! Most gallingly though despite this being a modern hotel there are no usb charging points – only old fashioned two-pin continental plugs – you can purchase a converter at a reasonable price in lobby area if need be. The rooms at the front facing the main roads aren’t as noisy as you might think but those trams going by do rather announce themselves. The rooms at the back would undoubtedly be quieter but they do appear to have very dismal views. I couldn’t hear anything from the room next door but I could hear movement from the room above which I’ve never experienced in any hotel anywhere before.||I didn’t use the restaurant so I can’t comment upon that but I found the staff at the reception to be friendly and helpful.||Despite the short-comings for this hotel I would consider staying there again…but I’ll be sure to bring a continent two-pin plug to USB converter!

Good: Good location, very close to a tram that goes to the central station. Short bike ride to museum district. Staff are nice and the cafe is open 24 hours. Bad: There was mold in the shower. The AC doesn't really warm anything up. We had it on for hours and it was still cold in the room and freezing the bathroom. The only trash can is in the bathroom. The lighting is weird - all the lamps point at something so if you want just general soft light or to find something, you are going to struggle. Overall, I think it's overpriced for what you're getting and I would look for a different place next time.

Good hotel with nice rooms, friendly staff and great coffee ! Location was great for us, lots of good bars and restaurants nearby. Would stay here again. Oh and free glass of wine at 5pm!! What's not to like?!
