"It’s just super-duper simple and beautifully made pastries and super-duper simple and beautifully made coffee. Give me a cortado and a biscuit and I’m happy." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

"The adorable décor in here is enough to convince you to stay before you’ve even had a sip of coffee—the whitewashed space is punctuated by green wire chairs, a mirror that’s really more of an art piece, and a mint-green cappuccino machine. Chef/owner Kim Wilson is famous for her amazing baked goods, which they bake fresh onsite every day. While the brunch menu is good enough to merit a visit any time, you’ll almost always find people here on their laptops enjoying the natural light and perfectly brewed coffee."

Lovely Gem! Great experience and good coffee. Charming area. Customer service was excellent, warm and friendly. They even have a chalkboard listing everyone’s names who are working there. This is a place where they want you to feel like a regular on day one. There was a lot of interaction and laughing with several customers. Obvious they have a regulars which is a great sign. I took a picture of the menu if you’re hungry. I’ll be back.

06/03/17: 5.0 out of 5 - It's been awhile but Commissary is just an amazing little eatery with big flavor. Tried the Quiche with Asparagus... delicious, and the Biscuits and Gravy with Mushroom, not my usual, was fantastic! The service today was extraordinary. Definitely in my top 3 of places that I would want to sit, eat, sip coffee, and enjoy my time there. 02/11/17: 4.5 out 5 - It's 2017 and this is the first time in a while myself and my running group came back. Commissary still has this minimalist chic look with an old cinematic production theme to it. Although it's been awhile, everything I've had in the past that's on the menu is fantastic, including the coffees and espressos. So, I was pleased to see that Commissary has a few new items; Biscuits & Gravy and That's a Wrap. Both were amazingly tasty. The Biscuits & Gravy is by far the best I've had in Portland! If you're in NW Portland, I would highly suggest coming in, try out what's on the menu, and decide for yourself. I know my running group and I will be coming back.

Great (and I mean GREAT) coffee and staff! The owner cares about community and has prioritized safety for the team and customers during the pandemic and, most recently, the excessive heat without sacrificing service. They also carry Deadstock coffee (highly recommend the Breezy), and make pastries in-house. I come here several times a week and even at their busiest, they take the time to serve you coffee as good as their service.

The sandwiches was a decent size. The biscuit was fresh, nice and buttery on the inside. We thought the place was decently priced. However, the sandwich tasted quite bland as it had no cheese or sauce and the sausage lacked in seasoning. We really wanted to like it cause the sandwich looked so beautiful but unfortunately it’s just bland. It’s definitely filling though!

Such a cute environment! Biscuit was amazing and holy JAM! This sounds weird, but best jam I’ll probably have in my life! (Had Raspberry jam, but positive the others are amazing as well) Vanilla and hazelnut latte was delicious. Quiet enough to work but if you’re hanging out it’s noisy enough to allow for comfortable conversing.

Absolutely perfect poached eggs, amazing home-baked goodies (my favorite to date is the luminous pumpkin muffin with just the right amount of ginger and sweetness, but I’ll take an apricot jammer any day), great options for quick healthy snacks to start my tour guiding day. Commissary is gorgeous to boot and my go-to for on the go hearty, delicious food and great coffee!

I visited Commissary Cafe in summers and they were not open for dine in due to COVID-19 precautions. They had a couple of tables as outdoor seating. I ordered biscuit breakfast sandwich with greens and iced mocha. Mocha had just the right proportions of coffee and cocoa. And the egg sandwich was yumm- fluffy eggs and lots of greens.

I like the look and feel of this place. The coffee is alright. The location is super nice, I love that it’s close but not too close to the pearl and 23rd. There’s potential here!! However, the service always leaves me feeling disappointed. I could go up another star if the service wasn’t dismissive and sometimes condescending.
