"I visited Colorado Donuts near my home in northeast LA to pick up some Sesame Street treats for my nephew’s birthday. He’s a generous two-year-old, so he handed over a glazed doughnut covered in red frosting and topped with Oreos and a doughnut hole. I am still trying to figure out what Elmo’s eyes were made of, but plenty of sugar is certain. Whenever I have a doughnut, it’s usually a glazed old-fashioned as it is classic, perfect, and easy, but the sugary buzz of the Elmo doughnut will serve as a reminder to keep trying new things." - Eater Staff

"Superstitious? Maybe, but I will say that the Dodger doughnut from Eagle Rock favorite Colorado Donuts was not only delicious but did seem to correlate with a Game 1 World Series win (via grand slam walk-off, no less). I ate one that was leftover before Game 2, and that worked out well, too. Yeasty, puffy, and full of magic? Find me a better bite in the city." - Eater Staff

"Colorado Donuts has more options than Pete Davidson does famous exes. So while the ube cake donut is what usually gets us through the door at this colorful strip mall shop in Eagle Rock, we've never left without at least another half-dozen. Even options that sound pulled from an eight-year-old’s birthday wish list are light and airy, so don’t be afraid to ditch the classics for a decked-out behemoth made to look like Cookie Monster’s face. "You’ve got a (small or big) wad of cash and you’re looking to hit the sweet tooth jackpot. Enter Colorado Donuts. Your only sugar worry in the world is having a little bit of restraint over their untamed selection. Wild ones may include rainbow hued, cereal-covered donuts, cinnamon Cronuts, the obligatory bacon donut and donut ice cream sandwiches. So after you’ve whittled your selection down to a dozen and thought your jackpot heaven was all in the box, know that they also sell Lotto tickets. Why not double the win? Plus, check in on Yelp and get a free donut." - Hype Type Studio & Steph Ashmore
