The food was really good and the portions were great so bring friends! The food is on the saltier side so grab a beer or martini on their happy hour to wash it down with. I would definitely go again when I'm in town and I'd recommend it to my friends

Wow! What a fabulous rebirth. I've been gone from Seattle for years. Returned to newly imagined Coastal Kitchen. Love love love the new vibe, excellent menu ( and they accommodate my twists with graciousness!) and primo, friendly service. Sit at either bar for fun and conversation. Great spot for women on their own! Owners made the right decision. , and excellent hires! Highly recommend!

Not impressed. Went in for a Sunday lunch and despite having reservations we waited for 20 minutes. The venue was relatively busy but there were a few unbussed tables within view. The staff were overworked and as a result, grumpy looking. Once we were seated the service improved considerably, and the food arrived quickly. It was average; the fish tacos lacked flavor, the fish and chips were okay and the pasta was unimpressive. Did not live up to the expectation, sadly.

I loved the vibe - got me really hype for brunch. The food was pretty decent, slightly under salted, the asparagus was not cleaned completely, the toasts tasted like it was seared in the leftover oil from the past 10 meals. Nothing was bad per se, it just could have been better.

Overall experience- underwhelming, but would return. There were a lot of flies in the entrance, and the Host stood around for a bit before addressing our party of 2. After we were seated, the service was friendly and attentive. The Bread and Ricotta was AMAZING. The Manila Clams were tasty, but overall needed a little more seasoning. The burger was underwhelming, very bland.

I live less than a mile away from this restaurant and believe in supporting local businesses. I brought my parents here and was hoping to bring friends here in the future. The food was incredible. Would definitely recommend the bread & ricotta and the rest of the entrees we ordered were delicious as well. If I had a word to describe our experience however, it would be inconsistent. It started off being told that the cocktail I wanted couldn’t be made because they were “out of it,” without further explanation. Our lackluster waiter, didn’t bring a lemon for the water until we asked a second time. The worst part was that I had a sizeable portion of my entree excluded. When I noticed this and brought it up to the waiter, he merely brought the missing piece on a separate plate with the expectation that I was now the chef and could put together this meal in whatever way I wanted. Finally our waiter was rather inhospitable and dropped off desert without a word, not even “Enjoy.” I really wanted this to be the place I’d show off to friends but I can’t imagine coming back here.

After wandering around Seattle for a good part of the morning while visiting I worked up a good appetite and stumbled across Costal. The place was very busy which is always a good sign but I got right in at the bar. Service was a bit slow due to the volume but once some patrons cleared out I got great service and friendly staff. I had the toasted chicken salad sandwich for lunch and it was delicious and a bit messy which made it all the better to clean up using the tasty French fries served with the meal. If I am ever back in town I would bring my seafood friends back here as the atmosphere was open, comfortable, and friendly. Definitely recommend.

Our meal was fantastic, the food was prepared great and tasted amazing. The carrots in the Drunken Brussels had a flavor I did not think carrots could have. The only real negative from our meal was inconsistent and awkward service. It wasn't bad by any means but we would have atleast liked to have known our waiters name.

Adding: Service: still 5/5! Waiters are all so helpful and friendly! Always get it right! Burger: 1/5 meat wasn't seasoned, couldn't be cooked less than medium, bun was stale, bacon jam was non existent, size was small, not juicy or enticing in any way. (to give you an idea. It was between this of fish and chips. The table next to us also had the same dilemma. We both chose burger and we were both disappointed.) Fries: 5/5!!!!! SCREAMING THIS! I can eat entire plates fill probably more!! So good! Better than anything around the area! And portion size does NOT disappoint. Fries are so good. I forgot how bad the burger tasted. Chocolate Tres Leches: 5/5 every time I go here and drink, bloody Mary's. They try to convince me to take one home, but I'm a TL snob because it is my all-time favorite cake flavor. I decided today I would try it since nothing could be worse than what I had and I was not disappointed. At first glance you i thought it was going to be too small to be good. This is a review for the Tuesday happy hour with $2.50 oysters and rose. Food- oysters were fresh tasting! The best deal is the salmon rillete on the happy hour menu. I was impressed by the portion size and felt the quality was very good for the price. I was also a big fan of the shoestring fries. The rose was tasty and we ended up getting a bottle! Ambiance- upscale but casual. Great ambiance for pairs or small groups for happy hour! Service- excellent

This is one of my favorite happy hour spots (especially on Tuesdays since they have $2.50 Rose and Oysters). This was my second time visiting at ~5:30pm and there was no wait. In the summer, it's a bit busier but I only had to wait 15 minutes. Even if there is a little wait, it's definitely worth it! Rose - The rose is $2.50 all day Tuesdays. It's very light and goes down easy. A bug landed in my glass and the waiter got me a new one. Marinated Olives ($4 during HH) - Nothing special. Fries ($4 during HH) - I love shoestring fries and these were done perfectly with a side of ketchup and garlic aioli. Drunken Brussels ($9 during HH) - The first time it was fantastic but the second time it was extremely sweet. This might not be consistent. Salmon Rillete ($10 during HH) - The salmon portion was generous almost to the point where we didn't have enough chips! I recommend this.

I ate the CIOPPINO which is clams, muscles, and halibut. The halibut was pretty good. The clams were so so. However the muscles were extremely bad. My wife actually tried the dish first and said she didn't like it. I didn't believe her sense of taste. Not sure what she didn't like, but once I tried the muscle it became immediately clear. It tasted unpleasant. I don't know if that's just how the local muscles taste or what but I'm amazed that anyone can eat it. The ambiance was nice and classy with candle lit tables. The salmon dish was pretty good but not good enough to overcome the muscles.

What a cute place! We dropped by here around 6PM on a Tuesday for their $2.50 Tuesday Happy Hour deal! It seemed pretty busy when we got there but they quickly seated us. There's both indoor and outdoor seating space. It's way larger than I expected and was so busy on a Tuesday! The happy hour deal is $2.50 for oysters and glasses of rose all day! It's such a steal so we ended up getting a few glasses of rose and a dozen oysters. We also ordered fries with garlic aioli. The rose was very refreshing for a sunny summer day and the oysters were so tasty too! They were actually pretty large oysters and came with fresh lemon and mignonette sauce. The service was pretty good too for a busy evening. I'd definitely come back again because their dinner and brunch menu looks super tasty too!

Coastal Kitchen has been in the neighborhood for awhile now. After a car ran into the shop, they closed and remodeled their space and it's fantastic! A few of the kitchen staff from my other favorite place has migrated here and I'm really digging it. The po'boys are crunchy with plenty of zesty slaw, good portions, and a heaping pile of delicious battered fries! The breakfasts are generously portioned and cooked well. I'm not a fan of the breakfast sausage flavor but that's a me thing. The salads are large, well dressed, and have good texture to them. The cinnamon rolls are light, fluffy, not sickly sweet, and definitely a danger to my waist line. We are planning more visits to this spot so we can try more of their dishes. Don't wait, come on in and get some yummy food!

I tried out Coastal Kitchen for the first time, and I thought it was quite nice, if not a standout. Everything was good, but honestly I think I enjoyed the appetizers more than my main dish (the shellfish risotto). There was nothing wrong with it -- it was quite tasty -- but it wasn't interesting nor delicious enough to be something that I'd specifically come back for. However, our appetizers were the star of the show. The salmon rilette was a delicious elevated "dip" with beautiful airy chips, the drunken brussel sprouts were very savory with a light crisp, and the olives weren't too salty or briney. (I'm not normally an olive person at all, but I ate two!) Prices were on the higher end (appetizers in the $10-20 range, entrees $25-40). I will say, all the shellfish I had tasted VERY fresh. The shrimp in my risotto were particularly PLUMP and very delicious. I came with a group of 6 around 5:30pm on a Wednesday night, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The vibe of the restaurant was nice. Not too formal, not too casual. Not too loud nor too quiet. A good date spot. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Capitol Hill Light Rail Station, which is a lovely walk in the summer and could be a miserable one in the rainy winter. (So you may want to drive depending on the weather.) Overall, it's not a spot I'd go out of my way to return to or bring someone from out of town. But it was good.

Found this place through a promotion of their $2.50 oysters & rosé pours, how could I say no? Made reservations for 8:00pm, hoped we could swing in a couple minutes early and sit at the bar until our table was ready, but that was **not** possible. Tuesdays are very busy due to the oyster & rosé promo, which is understandable! The restaurant is cute with a lot of open air, and they make the most of the seating space that they have. Ordered a couple dozen oysters, some rosé pours, and an appetizer of bread & ricotta. The oysters were well cleaned, fresh, and served with a fantastic mignonette! The rosé was delicious and the pours were generous. The bread & ricotta was fantastic, super light and airy, crisp, with the perfect balance of fats and citrus. Overall we had a great time, it was extremely busy, but our server- Camaro -was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, he was fantastic!

I came here for a dinner date night and it did not disappoint. Loved the environment and the service was amazing. Our server gave us some amazing advice on what to order and paced our meal out really nicely. We got the brussels sprouts, caesar salad, and pan-seared halibut. For drinks, we got the lemon drop and the party like it's 1889. Everything was so delicious, especially the brussels sprouts and the pan-seared halibut. The pan-seared halibut in the beurre blanc sauce is something I would love them to jar so I could buy it. I can't wait to go back for another dinner but also for their happy hour!

Went here for my birthday last night. Really pretty place and very clean. Had the beachy seafood vibe. Service was top notch, but was disappointed w/ the food! The steamed clams were the highlight of my meal. That buttery, garlicky sauce it's served in def needs more bread! I got the ciopinno for dinner. It was super bland and boring. The halibut on top was overcooked, which was also a bummer. The mussels were big and juicy though. My son got the tagliatelle. Pass on this dish. It was greasy and the meat was very fatty. It was like a pot roast tossed in pasta. Very heavy dish. Surprisingly small wine list, Coastal Kitchen focuses more on cocktails, but our group stuck with wine. Too many options I think to go back!

After a stretch of hot weather, the townhouse oven made for poor sleeping conditions overnight. Ticked things off the early Saturday morning to do list (8/14/21), but left me and The Homie still sleep deprived, ravenous, and bordering on hangry. Just about every place that came to mind had some long line out along the sidewalk. Meandering along 15th Avenue E, I was able to find easy peasy, free one hour street parking. Spot was directly across from Coastal Kitchen. No line, no need for reservations. Sweet! I have not dined here in ages, it'll be good to revisit and to check it out. We were seated immediately, handed menus and ice water. The Homie had drip coffee and the chicken and waffle. From the former 5 Spot and HiLife menus, there was a version of Kathryn's Grand Slam featuring whole wheat pancakes with butter and syrup. I usually prefer buttermilk ones, but as long as they're not made of Teflon, I'll deal. Selected scrambled eggs and pork sausage patty. Pleasant service from start to finish, coffee and water always refilled, food was was tasty and filling, no complaints here. Thankfully, we were able to complete our meal before the one hour parking was up. Good to see a holdover from yesteryear make it through pandemic times. Glad we stopped in.

It's been our first time back since the re-launch, and the overall experience was kind of meh - they definitely have a lot of development potential, and I'll go back at some point to check out if they've improved. Now on to the story - it was a dark and stormy night ... literally. Last Sunday evening. We got seated relatively quickly. The interior looks more modern and cleaned up and streamlined, so far so good. Unfortunately our waiter was beyond sickly, and running around coughing and with a sniffly nose. Without a mask. He should have stayed at home. I ordered a rosé wine, which, despite literally pointing to it on the menu, was misinterpreted as "orange wine" (yuck, would I ever), and he rushed off before I could rectify that. Fortunately, after waving him back, I could fix that before I got the wrong drink. We ordered oysters as a starter, and later on some more dishes. Everything took ages to arrive. We must have waited for our food for a good half hour each! The oysters, while fresh and tasty, looked like they were shucked by someone who didn't know what they were doing - huge shell pieces inside and some of them shredded to pieces. We then got offered some ceviche we didn't order to compensate for the long wait - I tried some and thought to myself "I know why that was left over - someone must have squeezed ten moldy limes into this" - it was so sour, that was definitely not natural lime juice anymore. Oh well. My main course was a cioppino, which was ok. The sauce reminded me of what you get with tinned and pre-cooked spaghetti (think Maggi ravioli). Nothing to write home about, but not too terrible either. Now on to the prices - wowser! They've definitely gone upscale. Which I can't say about the service. I mean they visibly tried, but something seemed messed up that evening as several tables around us complained about delays and demanded to see the manager. For the experience and quality of food we got that day, the menu seemed way overpriced. I hope they'll get it together and improve on some of these teething problems, it seems a nice place to enjoy (with nice food too, if the kitchen gets their act together).

Came here for the $2.50 oysters and rose pours for a friend's birthday celebration. Unfortunately it can get pretty warm in the restaurant if the fans and AC aren't on, but overall it's a fairly relaxed environment with an open window facing the restaurant/bar side of the establishment. Our waiter was really attentive for our large group of 12 and we never felt like we were waiting too long on any of our food, drinks, or water/napkins. I had the pan seared halibut and it was good - not extraordinary, but I was satisfied. The bread and ricotta was a crowd favorite as well as the halibut ceviche. If we didn't get a few dozen oysters we probably would have ordered more ceviche!

A pretty uninspiring performance, and certainly too expensive for the value. Perhaps it was because we were there fairly early for happy hour, but it did not hold up.

Great service and you can't go wrong with $2.50 Rose glasses and oysters! Definitely will go back.

An experience so over the top bad that you spend the rest of the day laughing about it. My buddy and I came here for breakfast around 9:45, no crowds yet. I ordered the chicken & waffles, he ordered the eggs benedict with a side of hashbrowns. Nothing crazy, but... - To start, the waitress brought us another table's order. - The plate they gave my friend had benedict and homefries. The homefries were WHOLE POTATOES. Just whole deep fried potatoes. Maybe the cook thought WHOLE fries? - I did get my chicken and waffles. But the chicken was THIN, mostly breading, and completely burnt. The waitress realized her mistake and took our plates away to bring the correct order. - They brought my friend his eggs benedict with a side of hashbrowns... and an additional side plate full of hashbrowns. Eggs benedict with a side SIDE of hashbrowns. - All of the hashbrowns were burnt on the outside and completely raw on the inside. - They brought back the burnt chicken and waffle. At that point, my friend and I spoke to the waitress and manager, showed them the plates, and politely excused ourselves. The food here was completely inedible and should have never left the kitchen. The waitress should have never delivered it to the table. I don't know what has happened to this place. It use to be one of my favorite spots in Seattle. But it's so mismanaged on every single level, from kitchen to service, that it will be a long time before I consider coming back here. Coastal Kitchen currently has to be one of the worst run restaurants in Seattle.

I used to live in Seattle and worked on Capitol Hill for many years. On a recent little vacation from Bellingham, my partner and I were driving down 15th Ave and lo! I see one of my old haunts--The Coastal Kitchen. I remembered really good times there, so we went in to see what we would see. We got to sit in the beautiful old-timey bar with barkeep, Jay, as our man, with some help from Bertram. Jay talked us into the fresh oysters, and we were so glad he did! As I lover of oysters, I will acknowledge that--like wine--there are many flavor varieties, the agreeability of which will depend upon a person's palate. Jay's and mine must be the same for oysters as he was spot on. Our selections included Hoshi, Romeo and Dabob. He predicted we would go crazy for the romeos (pron ro-MAYO), and he was so right. I need more of these in my life! The Hoshi were my next favorite. I love fried oysters, but my plate of fried couldn't match this, though nicely done. We also had the hangtown fry which was delicious. The key lime pie was very nice, but--having spent a lot of time in Florida--it was a more a "reimagined" version of my heart's desire. The Bloody Mary's were sublime! Lovely, pleasant wonderful spot with charming and friendly staff. (Oh, and I sat facing their wood puzzle-like world map, which was a really cool thing to study, contemplate and converse about.)

They knocked it out of the park on Sunday. Staff was attentive, but not pushy or overwhelming. Food was spectacular and served promptly. Overall the whole experience was fantastic and it made a fun night out with a friend that much better. Prices are fair, and the serving isn't skimpy. Definitely a place I will return to. The bar area was a bit loud, but the tables upstairs were fine.

Ordered the fish sandwich - it was nicely cooked - dressing did not add much. Plenty of sandwich for two people and an amazing stack of excellent French fries. Our friend had the Poor Boy oyster sandwich and was disappointed at how over cooked and over smashed the oysters were. Our server was very kind and sent our concerns to the kitchen . We would return to try different dishes from the extensive menu

Meh, ordered the seafood risotto and it was under cooked. Twice. Everything else was fine. But don't have risotto on the menu if your cooks don't know how to make it

Fish and chips are garbage. Don't waste your time even their breakfast was lack luster. They need a new chef's

I love the recently renovated vibe of this Cap Hill staple - so happy to support them again! Took my brother and niece for an early dinner on a Sunday. The oysters and seafood were perfect, the service was excellent and the price was fair ....considering how expensive everything is now.... $160 before tip for three including appetizers, mains, alcohol and a shared dessert isn't terrible. This is a great spot to add to the rotation of restaurants to dine at regularly.

The food was excellent! Loved getting the $2.50 oysters and $2.50 rosé! The first table we sat at was really wobbly and they didn't mind us moving. Someone else was sat there later and they also wanted to move.... Hopefully that gets fixed. Our waiter was very nice, they were quite busy so they seemed a little flustered. But I liked the atmosphere. It's a great place for a fancy feel but a semi casual dining experience and pricing!

Really nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and great selection of seafood. Three different types of oysters to try out which was super fun! I'd say if you get anything,, get the ricotta and sourdough bread. It was TO DIE FOR

Coastal Kitchen under the former owners was a neighborhood icon! Since it's been taken over by the new ownership it's attempted to fill those shoes and has simply fallen short. I've been there four times since it was sold by Jeremy(former partner of Chow Foods). Everyone there is nice and professional. I get the impression that many are not "seasoned professionals" but making their best attempts at being one. I was in the mood for a "Dirty Vodka Martini" and decided to give Coastal another try. It was perhaps the worst dirty martini I've ever had. I noticed that it had very little flavor from olives and I asked to look at the olive supply and one of the bartenders kindly let me inspect them. They were all discolored and the juice had lost its brine influence. It's hard to say how old they were but they were basically "dead olives!" When I mentioned this to them they seemed confused as if they didn't understand. Clearly they weren't consumer's of olives. I probably won't return again and that makes me sad cause I'm one of the OG original employees of Coastal Kitchen from the 90's when it was one of the busiest restaurants in Capital Hill.

Seattle's "COASTAL KITCHEN" https://www.coastalkitchenseattle.com/ reopened this past December. Enjoyed a fabulous dinner last night! If you've been a fan of it.....GO BACK! If you've never been there.....DEFINITELY GO! Delicious from start to finish!

Came here for brunch and thought it was good, but nothing extraordinary. Really cute place with great service, but was not overly impressed with the food relative to the price point - felt it was a little pricey for classic breakfast type meals. I had the farmers scramble with the spicy hash browns. It was good, but again nothing super special. The spicy hash browns had good flavor and were unique, but they were not crispy which is what I prefer (I understand that is just personal opinion). Also, something to note is that they do not take reservations.

I have been here a couple times over the years, and my fondest memory is always about the fresh-squeezed orange juice. Theirs is just especially juicy and delicious. This most recent visit, I took the chance to try the fried chicken sandwich, and quite honestly it was the best fried chicken sandwich I've ever had, dethroning the previous placeholder by leaps and bounds. It was juicy and crispy in all the right ways. It is pickle-brined, so super flavorful. The slaw on it is the perfect condiment. The fries on the side were tasty and not too salty! In fact, none of this very salty meal tasted salty. It just tasted fresh and flavorful. Ugh I want it again!! The staff was warm and welcoming, the ambiance is fun and cozy, and the menu has a great selection. Just go already!

Update on September 30, 2023. We came back, and I have to say I love the remodel inside the place, the staff was friendly and efficient, the food was very good. Everything back to normal! I would say better than before the remodel. Way better. We will be back by frequently now. We came for brunch, and I think it's still one of the top10 brunch places in Seattle.

Unsurprisingly, the negative reviews are exaggerated and the restaurant is an exquisite breakfast choice on the weekend. They seated us immediately far away from the door, which I requested, and the service was lovely after that. The Sonora Scramble was some of the best breakfast food I've had in quite some time. My broad got the Goat Cheese Scramble. The spicy hash browns were phenomenal and hot! You want to go to there!

My husband and I had a 4 PM reservation today. When we got there, we had to wait a few minutes before we were seated. The restaurant had a nice ambience. It had just opened so there were not many patrons yet. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. We placed our order right away. I asked for a non-alcoholic beverage recommendation and he suggested Seasonal Shrub which was a bit pricey but so worth it! I ordered Pan Seared Halibut that came with the BEST Gnocchi I've ever had while my husband ordered The Burger. The Drunken Brussel Sprouts that was on the Happy Hour Menu was delicious as well! Overall, we were very impressed with the food, the service, and the quiet atmosphere.

After having an extraordinary experience a couple times and been disappointed to go back to have a middling one, we returned to coastal for a lovely meal. I'm hopefully optimistic that they are righting the ship. We will be back!

Food was great!!! Felipe made me a side salad out of lettuce and remains of my wagu burger I had. He came out and personally introduced himself to my friends and myself and told me what he did. It was the sweetest thing ever! The Brussels sports were amazing and that isn't doing it justice, the bread and cheese were delectable! I've been coming here off and on for 12 years and the food doesn't disappoint!

Had lunch today at Coastal Kitchen with some friends from San Francisco. The 3 of us ate lunch there the first time 17 or 18 years ago. While we've all changed and aged the quality of food and service at Coastal Kitchen hadn't. I was seated promptly, waited on quickly and the food and service were excellent throughout our too-long visit. I hadn't seen my friends in several years and we had lots to catch up on. I ordered the Classic Ham Benedict with house hashbrowns and my friend Tim had the Fish and Chips. Sorry, I didn't take a photo of the third entre, I was too busy visiting with my friends. All the food was delicious, and our coffee cups were never empty!

I really want to love this place (I used to go there all the time when I moved to Capitol Hill long long time ago). After they re-opened, I went there several months ago and didn't like it, so I decided to give it another try, thinking maybe it's taking them time to dial-in the details. My friend and I went there again over the holiday break for lunch. I started with the beet salad. It came served on a bed of "house-made ricotta." The entire thing tasted more like a dessert than a salad (it was overly sweet, the ratio of ricotta to beets was off: a couple of beets on a thick and sweet ricotta). As my main I tried the oyster po'boy. It was nasty; it tasted overly fishy, and the breading on each oyster was thick and burnt. I had 2 bites and couldn't finish it. My friend had the salmon sandwich and I got to try a bite. It wasn't as bad as oyster po'boy, but it was pretty bad. Prices are on the high side for what you get ($21 for 2 tacos?). Our server was friendly and fast. The ambiance is also nice. I just wish they did better with the food.

Truly the worst customer service in Seattle. I've tried going there multiple times and every time is the same experience. Nobody seems to care and they all just do whatever they want. Drinks will take 20 minutes to get to you, servers will never check on you. I won't be back.

Excellent ambiance and fabulous food. You can't go wrong here with the selection of dinners and appetizers. Friendly staff and superb bartender. Wonderful dinner choices that you'll have a hard time making a decision on so, you may just have to go back to try another one. Mussel Bread was incredible and of course the salmon was mouth watering.

Great vibe in here, service is always delightful. Happy hour menu is really great especially on Tuesdays! I've never had a bad thing here!

We got a raving recommendation to eat here. I found it expensive and ordinary. I don't even remember what I ordered and it was only a few days ago. I just remembered being underwhelmed. Maybe my expectations were a little high, but I didn't find it to be worth a return visit.

We came here for Tuesday $1 oyster night. What they don't tell you is that they pre plan which oysters they will have on the menu. When we went there were three options. You order a number of oysters, but it is up to the chefs of how many of each quantity you will get. I guess that is fair considering they are $1 and you cannot be too picky, but would have been nice to know as we were ordering. The oysters were good! Nothing much more to say about that here. But the ice bath they sat it melted sooooo quickly, which has never happened to me with oysters before. When the oysters were brought no one came around and told us which were which oysters which was kind of upsetting, so we guessed but we also guessed wrong lol We tried to bloody mary and their "famous" pineapple gin and tonic (they make the tonic themselves). Bloody mary was eh but I'm a harsh critic. And the gin and tonic was way to sweet, it tasted like like some kind of hard candy I used to eat but can't put a name to it. I cannot speak to any of the other food since we came primarly for oysters. I did see someone get the crab cakes and it looked like a very small portion for such a high price. Happy hour being throughout the entire restaurant is nice and nice you can make reservations.

This place is a great spot for lunch. My husband and I came in on a midday one Saturday and the restaurant was almost filled to capacity. Busy as it is we were able to get a seat right away. Thanks to our server Wilson for being prompt and hospitable. Since we are first timers at Coastal Kitchen he recommended to try Oaxaca and glad we did. We ordered the Diablo shrimp hash, coastal classic breakfast, calamari and fresh shucked oysters on half shell. We will definitely come back again and try the dinner menu or oyster Tuesdays during happy hour. Service and food was excellent! Amazing local restaurant, a gem around Capitol Hill.

We finally came back here after 2 yrs , before pandemic it was a great go to spot for 10 years for breakfast and happy hour. Finally happy they are back open at least for breakfast. The potatoes were great just like before and joe scramble and fried oyster were good. The spicy bloody mary was so spicy and yes oh so good. Every who loves bloody mary should order this. The waffle was a little thin for me but great flavor and the coffee was fresh and hot, you cant go wrong with that. Overall satisfied and happy they are back in business.

COastal Kitchen holds fond memories for me. When I lived on Capitol Hill in the late 90s it was our favorite restaurant! I dined here the morning my first child was born (right across the street). We moved away and are now back, so of course it was a top choice to visit again. And it did not disapoint. The portions are plentiful and delicious. If you are trying to eat really clean (my friend was) it is more difficult to pick somthing else, as most items on the menu are pretty decedent, so she opted for the egg sandwich with fruit on the side. The side of fruit was a whole plate! I had the Eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Because I am gluten-free I had them put the eggs on my potatoes, and had some gluten free toast on the side. Everything was just as good as I rememebred. The only bummer was it was really loud. We were seated upstairs and it was hard to say if it was the accoustics or the fact that we were in between two larger parties. It made it a little harder to talk. Next time I will ask to be downstairs, as it seemed a little quiter down there, Can't wait to go back with my now 21 year old daughter.

I'm excited to write my review of Coastal Kitchen after visiting for brunch, dinner, AND happy hour. Each visit is a consistent 5-star experience in terms of quality of food, drink, and service. Oysters and cocktails are the two biggest attractions for me. I typically try to sit at the oyster bar to watch the food in action and interact with the chefs. If you visit on Tuesday from 3-11, they have $1 oyster night! If you can't make it then, visit during their daily happy hour from 3-6 where oysters are $1.50 on the half shell (shucker's choice); otherwise, the oysters are market price. One of the unique things about Coastal Kitchen is that they are constantly "touring different coasts," so each time you stop by, you can experience different dishes from around the world from places like Quebec, Oaxaca, Brittany, South Carolina, and more.

After wondering 15th Ave. we ended up at Coastal Kitchen and just in time for happy hour (3-6 & 9-close). We ended up ordering the calamari (hh), popcorn chicken (reg. menu), and the pimento mac & cheese (hh). My SO ordered the grapefruit daquiri, which was light. The calamari came with an accompany of deep fried basil, lemon slices and garlic. Which I thought was a nice touch. The popcorn chicken was served with their homemade ranch sauce. The ranch sauce! A blend of (I think) buttermilk, tarragon, parsley, garlic and some kind of magical love. I couldn't get enough of it! Yes, I would eat it with everything! I do appreciate that they are making a lot (if not all) of items in house. Plus that every month(?) they seem change up the menu by adding a fun feature of food from other countries. It keeps the menu interesting and fresh, in my opinion.

Breakfast was mediocre. Hollandaise didn't have much flavor and was a stingy serving. Hash browns were under cooked and lacked crispiness. Coffee was light roasted with the dirtiness of robusta. Won't go back again for breakfast.

Our first visit since the remodel. The quality of service, food and drink carried over to the remodel and revamped menu for lunch and dinner. Everything is as good or better than before. Happy hour is not to be missed, highlighted by the $5 crab cocktail.

Awesome brunch stop! They feature a different cuisine every three months, this month is Quebec. They go all out on this because they have a featured menu section and they even had a informative Quebec podcast playing in the bathroom haha. The food is delicious and huge portioned! The Sonora scramble is the most popular and it's delicious. Dueling salsas of a green one and a pico de Gallo. I also loved the huevos rancheros with the extra fixins (it wasn't nearly as good without the sausage upgrade) Their hash browns are spiced and crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. A signature style that I've gone to crave. The interior stretched out and some parts are a little echoey. Will return for 2$ oysters someday! Edit: spelling mistakes
