It's a nice walking distance to or from Riverfront Park, which has beautiful views for a perfect stroll. Would absolutely come back!

Really nice spot with easy drinks. Wisco Cheese curds were nicely breaded (not wisco beer battered) and the dipping sauces appeared to be house made. The cheeseboard was essentially lunch meats and summer sausage. The pickled vegetables were great, however. Beer was well done but without much variety or individuality.

Newly opened brewpub with Coast's beers and a smallish, but really good menu of food. They also have minutes wine and mixed drinks, including a few dessert cocktails if you're so inclined. The grass fed carpaccio is amazing, and a great deal at $16. Their grass fed beef hot dogs are also very good with good seasoning and just a hint of snap on the skin. Their potatoes are a great take on fries. Randomly crushed and fried to provide a mix of textures and flavor that is great. Haven't had their burger yet, but everyone raves about them. All for make from fresh, high quality ingredients. They have a nice indoor area and a covered deck for those that like to dine outside or bring their dogs. Dog friendly, of course, as evidenced by Kirby in the picture. Counter orders then they bring food and drinks to you.

Coast is a staple in Old North Charleston, and I visited for the first time recently. It wasn't on my radar until a college friend invited me to meet up here on a Saturday. Coast is off the beaten path of Charleston area breweries- most of which are on the King Street Extension. It's a few miles away from Park Circle, so you will have to drive, but Coast has plenty of parking to go around. The outdoor area is beautiful and close to Riverfront Park of North Charleston. They have quite a few house beers on tap as well as other local selections, wine, and a few rather sample cocktails. I am cutting back on beer, so I had the non-alcoholic Dali Sofia blueberry kombucha, which is on tap. The beer-tenders and other staff were quite welcoming, and the interior is nice as well. Coast is certainly worth the drive if you're into craft breweries.

This was our first time in Coast and we will definitely return. The atmosphere is light and airy and the service is outstanding!! It's a family owned and run brewery and we really enjoyed sitting no at the bar. We tried several beers...the helles, hopart, and the guest tap edmunds sour. All were delicious! We also got the cheese curds and they were delicious!!! The ranch is a little different in the best way. You can also choose from blue cheese or Bloody Mary ketchup. They have a great indoor space that can accommodate large parties and an outdoor space that would be great in spring or fall!

Now that the new building and kitchen is up and running, I can tell you the food here is as good as anywhere in Charleston. They offer snappy small plates and elevated finger foods, perfect with a beer or craft cocktail. A full bar and unlimited beer on tap to go with great bartenders and a chef that takes it to the next level will bode well for their future here considering the areas new redevelopment plan on the horizon.

I am so glad we came here! We had driven by here (purposedly since it's tucked away) - i asked if dogs were allowed and they said yes. They showed me the outside covered area (which is very nice and has trees that shelter the sun in the afternoon- perfect!). Anyway, we went there to eat - they have my husband's favorite beers, we could bring our dog and we were curious about the carpaccio. First of all, the menu is completely clean! No seed oils! Only beef tallow, clarified butter, all grass fed beef including the hot dogs. The crostini for the carpaccio was toasted in EVO. On to the taste- it was one of the best beef carpaccios we have had! Most of the time, it's too thick, stringy, no taste - this was delicious! The potatoes were a huge thumbs up as well and the wings were outstanding! Service was great! One minor request is please put chardonnay on your wine list and at a reasonable price (I ordered the closest possible and it was pricier than sauvignon). Great beers as we knew from before coming here. We will be back!

Came here on a Friday night around 7:30 and it was quiet but the beer is so good!!!! The inside of this place is bright and the music playing was great. Bartender was friendly and there was just an overall positive vibe about this place. Lots of seating inside and outside, so people can pick what works best for them. We chose outside until it got a little cooler then we headed inside. There are 2 TVs I think, so they might play sports games if requested. We tried a few beers and ended up getting 2 four packs to bring home. Will be back for sure! Great for a nice night out on the deck with friends. Only downfall is there was no food. Looks like they have food trucks sometimes, but the only snacks on site was beef jerky (no go for the vegetarians out there). Bonus points is that they had kombucha for those not wishing to drink alcohol and chocolate milks/juice boxes for kids!

Very cool place tucked away just off the interstate on Rutledge Ave. indoor and outdoor seating, good brews, and dog friendly. Custard shop attached that offers pup cups. Outdoor stage with live music makes this place a must see.

I'm not trying to be biased because I always try and support local but Coast has the best Carpaccio I've had of recent memory. It's absolutely a perfect snack to complement your savory beverage. Fresh and delightful. The service is warm and always friendly. Aiden is great and is always trying new cocktail blends to peak your palate.

This place has really kicked it up a notch. Their new space is beautiful! I'm also totally stoked they opened their outside porch to be dog friendly again! Their beer is great as always, but they also hit the mark on some killer cocktails and delicious food! Go check their updated space out if you haven't been!

Coast has been making some of the best beer in Charleston for years. Taking a look at their food menu they are seed oil free. Their burger and potatoes pairs perfectly with a Kolsch or Boy King.

My favorite spot to have a beer after work. Short but great draft list and their small plates are amazing and very affordable! This place deserves more credit for how fair the pricing is. The service is spot on with the same very friendly workers every time. An all around comfortable place to be with great vibes and even live music. Also the brewery is located in a beautiful spot a couple hundred feet away from the intracoastal with a nearby walking path over to riverfront park. Parking is beyond plentiful which is a huge bonus. I highly recommend Coast!!

Five stars for this type of business . It is a brewery making a pils that I enjoy very much. It is a family operation and has been for over 14 years. Now they serve limited food from an on site kitchen. The completely modern Munich style beer room is great for groups. A little more privacy is available on the roofed in outside porch under several large and old oak trees. Very nice place owned and operated by very nice people.

We love their beer and decided to check it out. Wow, what a cool place. The atmosphere is festive and everyone was so friendly. We asked if there was anything available not listed on the menu and I am so glad we did! The most amazing beef carpaccio and crispy potatoes made with love and you can taste it in the food!

Not a whole lot of beer style options, but they are good beers! We had a fantastic beertender, and the atmosphere was so relaxed and inviting. Personally, the Black Beerd beers are not so different that you need to order a flight; the 2016 was less chocolatey than the 2021, but that's about it. Military discount is offered, as well as flights and full pours.

Felt super dirty and forgotten. Only 3 beers on tap. Awful hours. The Boy King tasted super sweet as per normal. List goes on. However. I hope things improve.

Stopped here for the first time after eating aT the Charleston food truck festival. It's in a pretty cool location of the old navy shipyard. The building looks pretty run down but I think that's why I like it. Most of the seating is outside as I didn't see but one or two small tables inside. The weather was nice so sitting outside was great. There's plenty of room outside for kids to run around and play. I ordered their black beard barrel aged and it was fantastic! So bold and full of flavor. They dont have too many beers on tap but it's a good variety and also had to go six packs. I love supporting local bReweries so I'll be back!

Super bummed. I love Hopart, and after the Charleston Animal Society Chili Cookoff, we headed here with our pups. We ordered our beer and then we were told that we weren't allowed to be here with our dogs. We were directed to this sign. The guy who told us was really nice, but we were really disappointed. Please other people with dogs, don't try to come here. Stick with Lowtide, Rusty Bull, and Reverly. Also last call was just now at 5:00 on a Saturday.

Most authentic open-air brewery in Charleston. Probably the best, depending on what your tastes are. They don't over do it. There are 4-5 beers on draft. Always Hop Art (smooth IPA), Kolsch (lighter/crisp), and then seasonals. Their facebook page lists what is currently on tap. Personally my favorite is one of their rotating stouts called Blackbeerd. You can also get a real history tour of the craft beer in SC from Jamie, co-owner. Most breweries of late weren't around before SC had restrictive laws. In fact, Coast was a major force changing those laws, which have seen the huge boom. They have cornhole, disc golf putting green, and often times--food trucks. Also, bring some bug-spray if it's the season.

Stopped by for a beer after work. By far one of the best breweries around. The beers tasted great, atmosphere was great and the staff was spot on. I really enjoyed my visit. Highly recommended!!!! Without a doubt my favorite local brewery!!!!!

Two words: Hop Art. If you like IPA's this one by Coast is a must try, I was so stoked to see it now available in 6-packs. Additionally it is in a far out location but definitely a cool little spot to check out. I also, really enjoy the Dead Arm. Once you have tried their beers you will notice a slight familiar taste and smell that runs throughout their line-up subtle yet comforting.

COAST was one of the early craft breweries in town and helped shape the Charleston Beer Renaissance we enjoy today. They have a robust distribution arm in the state but the brewery and taproom itself is very much still a small operation. It doesn't boast the huge serving space that other new places in town feature--and I mean that as a compliment. They generally have about 8 brews on tap, served from like a retail counter, not a bar and there are a handful of picnic tables around the brewery and outside. While places like Tradesman, Frothy Beard, and Edmunds Oast have expanded into bigger and newer spaces (not knocking it--definitely recognize the necessity), it's nice that one of the Chas beer originals is still a charmingly low-key, unpretentious place to grab a beer.

This place is a nitty-gritty type of brewery. You won't find the hand-hewn reclaimed barnwood bar here, nor will you find corporate-sponsored painted murals. The bathroom is first-come-first-served and the "bar" looks like it can be wheeled to any corner of the room. It's a repurposed storage warehouse with no bells or whistles and it is PERFECT in a city full of hipster, up-and-coming breweries. You sit at folding tables in uncomfortable folding chairs and watch golf projected onto a white screen rather than being surrounded by multiple flat screens bigger than my living room wall. I truly hope they never change this venue (or not by much, anyway). The beer is great, the company is friendly, and you'll have a good time even when it's pouring outside.

Coast beer is usually found on local taps at restaurants so visiting the brewery we found a it to be "rustic". The building is located on the former Navy base, inside a fenced in area. The interior has folding tables and chair, then outside a few picnic tables and folding chairs. Just not as inviting as I would like. The beer was good though, love the Kolsch and Hefeweizen. Both were crisp and drinkable. There were only 6 on tap, so limited choices. They appear to focus on distribution more, but when we were there a brew bus was there with customers buying beer to go. Coast is a quality craft local brewery.

Still is one of the best brewery's in Charleston year after year cranking out the freshest beers ever. If you have not made it to Coast I highly suggest you get your friends and some empty growlers and go to town. This place may be small but it's packs a hella of punch from their Kolsh to the DIPAS they have on tap.

COAST beer is fantastic; I've had it in restaurants for years. However, I was not impressed with the taproom. They had five beers on tap but very minimal indoor seating--two tables and eight chairs. Guys at the bar/register area were kind and helpful. They did have other canned/bottled options available for purchase and consumption off of premises. The outside area was quiet, and there was plenty of parking. Also--the grounds are not dog-friendly. They may have been when other Yelpers reviewed, but they are not dog-friendly any longer.

It's a little hard to find evidently they closed a raid recently and my Garmin and phone did not know. The beer was good. Nothing stood out as exceptional but the beer was good. The atmosphere is cool, but if raining there would be nowhere to really hangout. It is a true brewery inside and out. Again good beer and atmosphere just nothing to brag about. I would def go back. Love the open air concept.

What differentiates Coast Brewery from others is the intimate family setting. The brewery is very small but extremely productive in its output and customer service. It is open to the public two days a week and open for hosting special events as well. Each time I have come for a small tour or beer tasting I have been welcomed with nothing short of perfection. The staff is always smiling and so welcome to sharing and educating you on beer, the process and tastes. This is a refreshing and calming little local brewery and they make some great beer.

A wonderful little brewery. I stopped in here on a beer tour which I am glad I took. I do not think I would have found this place on my own. Unlike San Diego, the different microbreweries welcome beer tours. They are not overrun yet by multiple groups. This was the smallest of the 4 I visited in the area. They do not have the biggest selection of beer but what they do offer is really good. It is a working brewery so you can walk around. The staff is friendly and you can get beer to go. They have a grassy area out front one can so one play some games or have a picnic during your visit. They do not serve food so I would recommend bring some if you like to munch when you drink. There is plenty of parking around and not much else in the area.

Yayyyy Coast! If you're a beer person and are visiting Charleston, this should be one of your stops - no question. It's all organic, the tasting room is super relaxed and spacious, and everyone who works here seems like they know what they're doing. PLUS - they do 64 oz. growler fills of every beer on tap. Unheard of. What I will call their single drawback is their lack of any air conditioned spaced (I'm sure they'd like that too) and the law on one case per person carry out. We're from Florida so were bringing back a ton of stuff we can't buy back home and that kind of limited the plan. Regardless, go visit and support your local breweries! Good beer, super nice and genuine people, a fun atmosphere - even in the July heat.

Great beer! Really liked the beers our group ordered - all varieties from Kolsh to IPA. Very very nice guys working here. We came on a Friday night so the place was pretty busy. However, I was a little put-off at the amount of kids there. And the place was quiet. Would have enjoyed some music or a band or indoor games or something. The mosquitos were really bad that night too, or we would have gone outside and played some frisbee golf they had set up. Will definitely visit again- perhaps for an event

Custom made local beer. What else can I say? The guys who make it are there to serve up their creations for you. Always excellent choices of light/dark craft beers. Bring a chair or hang out on their fest tables. They even have a disc golf basket so you can practice your putting while you hang out with friends. Dog and kid friendly environment.

The flights go for 6. The place is the same basic brewery in a warehouse setup. The people there were very friendly and willing to speak with you. They have a food truck on site any time they are open. All the beers we had there were solid beers. They seem to follow along more German flavors when it comes to their malt choice and theyalso seem to keep their brews on the high abv side. I would go back in a heart beat. I would like to give a 4.5 but i will round up because their beer is so good. The niggles i have is be prepared for no parking. Park on the side of the road if there is a place or end up hoping not to get stuck amongst the trees across the street. Also they need to put more effort in the bathroom. Its a unisex bathroom so they need to spend extra effort making sure its clean to keep confidence their brewing process is kept clean.

I've been trying to go to Coast since I first moved to SC. It all began with the Kolsch. Drinking it on tap at many local establishments in the area, I felt I had to go to this delightful and infinitely drinkable beer's homeland. After a few failed attempts (one particularly tragic occasion resulted in a bike accident that occurred less than 50 feet from the entryway), I felt determined to set things right when I partook in a friend's brewery-hopping bday tour last weekend. Finally: someone else was driving me there AND others with better luck than I would turn the tides of Fate! Sure enough, I finally entered Coast and got to bask in her industrial yet oddly comforting glory! I love the warehouse feel of the place, the casual vibe, and, of course, the outstanding beers! Boy King DIPA is what I live for, dream about and pine for on what seems to be a regular basis now. Everything about Coast is yay awesome perfection. It's like having a brewery in your back yard if your back yard happened to be heaven. Currently watching college football on their projector, dining on some glorious pop-up BBQ from Big Boned BBQ and drinking some tasty beer on a Sat. Does it get any better?? I DON'T THINK SO!!

This is close by work and we often go here for happy hour during the week. There is corn hole and a food trailer/truck available. Also you can get your growlers filled here to keep enjoying at home.

Easily THE BEST brewery in Charleston, and one of the best I've had. My personal favorite of theirs, is the Buffalo Trace Bourbon barrel aged Blackbeerd Imperial Stout. Their HopArt, Kolsch, Smoked Porter, and Altbier is amazing too. Since they are smaller, you can only find their bottles in very select stores, ie Whole Foods and Charleston Beer Exchange. You can find their beers on tap at any decent bar around town. The owners are super nice and run it all by themselves. They also can give tours now, with samples! Just call ahead and make sure they can get you in. If you're a fan of well made, craft beer, then this is not to be missed!

I have nothing but great things to say about Coast Brewing. Years ago this was the first local brewery I had ever visited and have frequented it ever since. Conveniently located on the old shipyard near park circle, they have consistently produced amazing beers for many years. The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly and really make you feel like an appreciated customer. The atmosphere is relaxed and feels like home when you enter the industrial building turned craft brewery. They are dog and kid friendly and usually have a food truck around during tastings. Coast is not only my favorite brewery in Charleston but one of my favorite joints in the Lowcountry. Recently they started to expand the brewery to include more tanks and a brew pub. The best thing about Coast is that they have fought and continue to fight to change alcohol legislation in South Carolina. Many of the luxuries we enjoy at local breweries are thanks to the owners.

Cool, outdoor atmosphere with music, games, and lots of pups! Not as many beer varities as other breweries around, but the beers they do have are good! Perfect afternoon of beer and corn hole.

I work right down the street, and my boss is a big fan, so we have meetings here from time to time off the record. It's nice to have a foodtruck on Thursdays and Fridays when they have tastings but I hardly ever get the food. The beer is great. If you're a hop fan then you'll love most of their beers. I'm not a hop fan and yet I'm still a fan of their other beer they have great choices for all palettes. It's not a super convenient location but is also far enough away from touristy places that it's just the locals. But don't let the neighborhood scare you, it's near a business park so it's safe.

For fans of IPA's, this place is a mecca. Since I'm a huge craft beer fan but don't enjoy IPA's, I was bummed when I came to Coast. 4 things on tap, 3 of them IPA's so the tasting flight was lost on me. A small set up that lacks anything comfy to sit on, the people who run the place (husband, wife, cousin) seem to really be passionate about brewing yet for some reason seem content with keeping things small. So small they don't bottle a thing and instead only keg and have been for the past few years. Wonder why they don't grow, but perhaps it's because their lack of diversity? The facility itself is small and out of the way, but worth the drive just to see another little place making local craft beer!

One of the best breweries in a saturated market. Coast's beers are well made - the Kolsch being perfect for a warm day like the summers here are full of. The interior takes the 'industrial' feel of many breweries to an extreme - there were a bunch of tools lying around on top of exposed machinery. The day we were there they had a BBQ tent offering both pulled meats and racks of ribs. Wish I would have been hungry and not just thirsty. Small note - they do not allow dogs.

Hubby and I have been here several times. I love grabbing a flight of beer so we can taste what's new. Not much atmosphere to speak of, this is a working brewery. Folks here are always helpful, friendly and happy to talk beer. Grab a table outside in the loading dock area where you walk in and chill with your dog! This is more of a warehouse area with some taps rather than an actual tap/tasting room. Always lots of parking available in the field across the street. Their Kolsch is my favorite, if I have a whole pint. Locals are always stopping in for growler fills and enjoying a pint while they wait. Weekends can be busy, lots of families and children playing in the open grassed area. Nice casual atmosphere. Enjoy!

This is the best craft brew in town in my opinion. Super hot in the summertime, as most breweries without AC are, but a stop here is definitely worth it. Boy King double IPA is at the top of my list! Do note that dogs aren't allowed here, but it is very kid friendly and they even have some yard games. There is usually a food truck there as well or pick up CODfather fish and chips on your way!

I've been wanting to go to Coast in Charleston for awhile, but their hours aren't that easy to get to. However, I found myself headed through Charleston in the afternoon on a Saturday and thus had to stop in. This is a no-nonsense brewery. Standalone brewery in an industrial park. Inside they have some walmart tables, metal chairs, sitting on the concrete floor, with bags of brewing supplies and other associated brew equipment right there beside you. Its a mom and pop brewery, without even a bar. They have a register, you place your order, they go get your beer and bring it out to you. Outside they had some picnic tables. There was a pretty good crowd there when I came, but not so large that you had to wait for a beer. I had one of their IPAs and it was very good. They didn't have their Boy Kind IPA on draft, but they had it in a bomber so I bought some to take home. The good thing about this brewery is they also have root beer and soda for the kids or non-beer drinkers. Overall, I enjoyed the trip here and would recommend it as a low key brewery, super friendly, with excellent beer. (if you can manage to get here during open hours)

My favorite tasting beer for a brewery in Charleston. HopArt IPA and BOY KING are excellent. Others are good too.
