Clouds Estate

From the moment we arrived, with a welcome smile from the security, to all the staff at Clouds, to security when we left, everybody made us feel very welcome to be there. We stayed in Room 16 Pool Suite for two nights. Everything you could need was there. A multitude of different plugs, even the hair dryer had an extension lead so you could see in the big mirror! Towels in abundance. The lighting system was on sensors and that took some getting used to. If anything the bathroom could have been a bit brighter. We ate in the Hotel for both nights. It is not fine dining but very good Bistro type food. Not a large menu but certainly enough for our stay. There is a car parking area for one car alongside the room (not visible). The view of the mountains is spectacular. Luxury but not stuffy!!

No doubting the location and views are stunning, we had a lovely room (so maybe from the previous comments we had a recently refurbished one!) our disappointment was the food which was OK rather than good and not the gourmet experience we expected for such a resort Also it was my husband’s birthday and the staff wished him happy birthday a few times but was not acknowledged at dinner or with a glass of bubbles, whereas a lady we had chatted to was her birthday the following day and she got a cake with a candle and bubbles at her breakfast! Maybe as we stayed only one night was not with it! Definitely recommend for a stay but not the dining

We came to Stellenbosch for the wines and our tour agent, Born Free Safaris, suggested we stay here. Such an excellent recommendation. Casual and comfortable but Totally Luxurious. Everything we needed was there and then some. The views, the proximity to the top wineries, the meals, the comfort - it was perfection! We would stay there again in a minute.

The hotel rooms are very tired. The staff is mostly friendly but not well trained. The views are indeed hypnotically beautiful. Overall acceptable stay, if the price was a good 30% less. At the moment this hotel is very overpriced for the service it offers and the tired feel in the rooms.

I can't fault this place. We had the most amazing stay here. The views are incredible and the rooms and service just made it sooooo special. Good food, a pool to relax by and a stocked fridge refilled every day.

Excellent location, great view and very friendly staff. The check in was very easy and friendly. All our questions regarding the estate were answers very detailed. The rooms are big and very well decorated. I love the architecture of the Mai building, where they serve breakfast, lunch (not sure) and dinner.|The food is excellent and the own the wines fit perfectly.

One night isn't enough! Don't rush this lovely estate. We originally planned for one night and I'm really pleased we added a second night to our stay. We were looking for a couples get-away from Cape Town and we are grateful we found Clouds. The property has the most wonderful views of the valley from every room/villa. Being well off the road it is peaceful and relaxing, and although you will find other reviews with great (and accurate) lists of things to do during your stay, we made an effort to rise early, sit on our private deck with a freshly brewed coffee, wrapped in delightfully soft Clouds robes, to watch the sun rise over the mountains and warm the valley below. Absolutely serene. Our villa was lovely and the only reason I haven't given the room 5 stars was that it was right next to the villa pool area so was a tad busy with other guests and I would say less private that the other villas. However, that would not stop us from returning again even if we ended up in the same villa. The staff are really lovely, very attentive and friendly. We did the wine tasting and our server was very knowledgable and provided an informative session. Definitely recommend. Breakfast was included and there was a good range of food, in ample quantities. OFC, we didn't turn down the Clouds sparkling wine to accompany it. We sat outside on the deck over-looking the main pool with the mountains for backdrop - again, so lovely and peaceful, a truely beautiful spot and a great way to start your day. Apparently many guests stay for around 4 nights and I can understand why, there are a lot of activities and wine farms close by and Stellenbosch is under 10 mins drive away; Clouds is such a lovely spot you should take some time to enjoy simply being there, lay by the pool, drink some wine, chat with the staff. Bliss, we will return.

Fabulous stay with friends. Service was exceptional - warm and friendly but very professional. Food was outstanding. The whole place exuded a calm and an intimacy that made us feel very much at home. Would love to return one day and will certainly recommend to others.
