citizenM Schiphol Airport hotel

Ideally this is a 4.5 star rating but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Highly recommend the newer style room, comfortable beds and amazing showers. Very comfortable for a single person might be a squeeze for 2 due to limited storage for clothes and cases. Drink beer instead of soft drinks, far cheaper. You can self check in and out (love that). Next to the terminal building and even close to Gate60 for airside access.

This hotel is a good option if you just need one night sleep before a flight, or even if you just need a hotel for a few hours between flights. The location is easy and no transfers are needed, you can just walk up to the hotel, a few minutes from Schiphol. ||It is important to mention that the rooms are very very very tiny, so you won´t be able to open your suitcases, make sure to be fully packed and weighed before you reach the hotel so you can leave your suitcases closed during your stay. The bed is super comfy, however one of you will need to climb over to lay on the other side because the bed is against the walls. The hotel is not noise proof so you do hear people waking up in late/early hours. ||I´ve stayed at Citizen M for 8 nights on different occasions over the past 2 years. On my last 3 stays there were problems. One time the shower wasn´t working and I had to pack my stuff and change rooms at night, the last 2 stays the TV streaming wasn´t working, no QR code! One of the nice things about the hotel is that you have a comfortable bed with a good tv screen, great to relax and fall asleep, but on the last occasions the streaming wasn't working, so I couldn't watch a movie, just national channels with nothing interesting. I did notify staff, and one lady came to my room and when she saw it wasn´t working, she left the room saying it would be fixed in half an hour and that she would be in touch. After one hour it wasn´t fixed, and since I didn't hear back, I phoned the reception again, they offered me a drink while I had already ordered several drinks from the bar that evening, so I wasn´t really interested in more. In the end, it wasn´t fixed, and since this is the third time with a problem, I think I'll try out a different airport hotel next time. I've seen options with similar prices, bigger rooms and the same or better facilities.

Last year, my girlfriend unfortunately had two consecutive flights cancelled during a layover in Amsterdam. Thankfully, we discovered citizenM and were able to get her booked for a two-night stay. Based on her great experience, I also decided to stay a night during my own (long) layover in Amsterdam. The staff were incredible kind and helpful, always on standby to help. I had no issues checking in or out, accessing my room, or ordering at the canteen. The hotel is equipped with modern technology, making for a fun and convenient stay. Each room contains a small iPad that allows direct control over all the room's functions. The cauliflower soup was an excellent choice on a cold, rainy winter night. I'll definitely stay here again if needed and recommend it to others.

Stayed here many times. This will likely be the last for a long time as we no longer live in the Netherlands. We have enjoyed every stay we have had here. It's exactly what we need, comfy bed, friendly staff, excellent food, easy check in and out and 5 min walk to the terminals.

CitizenM certainly has a style that you may or may not like. The room layout is unusual and perhaps controversial. The voyeur shower is the central theme here and smacks of Amsterdam's red light district. The toilet offers more, yet optional, privacy. If you're OK with the aggressive room layout then you'll enjoy this hotel. The tech is another story. The iPad controls almost everything (you need to guess what it doesn't control) is a bit clunky. However, you can install yet another app to get around it. We decided to just live with the clunkiness. The bed is another interesting issue as you will need to crawl in and out in the vertical direction. That may or may not be an issue for you. In the end, CitizenM offers value with challenges. If you look at it as a positive you'll be happy here.

Modern, friendly, comfortable and well designed place with all amenities on hand in a compact but comfortable room and lounge and bar / food amenities in the foyer. Emphasis on tech (room features controlled by ipad (TV, blinds (incl blackout blinds), lighting, temperature (with quiet air con)). all with a solid feel and despite being next to busy airport was quiet. I was there on business and it was a great place to stay.

Fantastic location if you need to reach the airport quickly. It's a brisk 5 minute walk with lights on the floor guiding the way. Very kind and helpful staff at the reception and bar. When our flight was cancelled and we did not have our luggage, they gave us toothbrushes, toothpaste and a comb - very thoughtful! Tasty breakfast, lots of different vegetarian and meat options (I can highly recommend trying the chia pudding and tiny pancakes!) - freshly made coffee and fruity juices. You can bring all food and drinks back to your room as well for peaceful dining. Only critique would be our room's layout: the shower and toilet are not in a separate room, but instead artistically placed in glass tubes (opaque glass for the toilet), which is a little awkward. The pillows are quite big and a little too hard for our liking. The bed was also a little higher than what we are used to. But hey, it's Amsterdam, things are high here!

Great location. 5 min walk from airport doors. Handy for early flights. Very modern and stylish hotel. Lots of areas to sit in downstairs to have a drink. Limited food menu but was a nice enough pizza. Chocolate cake was very good. Rooms are small but have absolutely everything you need. Super high tech control of blinds and lights and tv which was fun to just play around with. Frosted glass for the toilet would leave some feeling very uncomfortable but there is also a curtain if required. Shower worked well. Give you'll typically be there a single night to catch a connecting flight it did the job. Room was quiet no outside noise.
