"Chullpi Chullpi is a top choice for haute cuisine Peruvian-style. Its chefs insist on Cuzco -adjacent ingredient sourcing that supports local economies, at the same time keeping traditional dishes like cuy (a regional guinea pig species) relevant through contemporary iterations. The flavors are fabulous and the presentation winningly incorporates local history, such as using a serving dish carved to look like the circular terraces at Moray or presenting a pressed guinea pig on skewers over a small fire made of palo santo , a local incense. Portion sizes can be small—the perfect excuse to order more."

Yubia was a great waitress and very attentive. The portion size for the food is Texan and the taste is out of this world. Best chaufa my husband had had in Peru. Atmosphere: It was a rainy night but we sat upstairs and people watched from a seat by the window. The restaurant is cozy (2 floors) and the food selection was good.

I tried 3 or 4 restaurants here in Aguas Calientes, and this was the only one that truly impressed me. To be honest, most restaurants in this town have similar pricing, but only this place made me feel that the food and service genuinely matched the cost. Other places charged the same, yet fell far short in both quality and care. The service here was excellent and the food was genuinely delicious. I am not exaggerating. What surprised me the most was how fair and balanced everything felt. The dishes were flavorful, well prepared, and the pricing made sense for what we received. That is something you rarely find in a touristy town like this. I especially want to thank our server Nadin, who was attentive and thoughtful throughout the entire experience. She not only confirmed our order carefully but also asked if we had any allergies. For me, this is a basic expectation in any restaurant, yet surprisingly, many places around here do not ask at all. Their attention to detail made me feel respected and genuinely cared for. During the meal, they also came to check on us, which added a warm and personal touch. Highly recommended.

We visited Ponchos Food and Wine and didn’t expect the food to be this amazing. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and wonderfully prepared. We also want to give a special thank you to Yurema. She was incredibly attentive, kind, and charismatic. She helped us navigate the menu, asked about our preferences, and suggested several great options. I must say, the whole experience was made complete because of her service. We’re truly grateful — and can’t wait to come back!

The grilled Octopus of this restaurant was so delicious. The waitress named Stefani was also very nice and attentive. She recommended this menu and checked if I had any allergies or not. I highly recommend to try. 😊😊😊

Really great food with exotic meats (alpaca, guinea pig) tartar, fish, etc... bill for two was the same as an Apple Bees, but very high-end for Peru. Yubia was our waitress, and she as well as all the staff were very nice. This restaurant does not have a guy standing outside trying to draw tourists in; it was recommended by two different Peruvians to us in town. Simply amazing food. Be careful, our margarita was strong..

A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the Andes Dining at Ponchos was one of the unexpected highlights of my Machu Picchu adventure. Nestled along Av. Imperio de los Incas, this cozy spot blends rustic charm with a touch of elegance, offering a warm welcome after a day of exploring. The menu is a delightful fusion of Peruvian and Italian flavors, with standout dishes like lomo saltado and grilled alpaca stealing the show. Each plate was beautifully presented, and the flavors were bold yet balanced. I especially appreciated the attention to dietary preferences—vegetarian and gluten-free options were available without compromising taste. What truly elevated the experience was the service. Ana went above and beyond, making us feel like honored guests rather than just tourists passing through. Their genuine hospitality and knowledge of the menu added a personal touch that’s rare to find.

Great atmosphere also has plenty of charging outlets if your phone is out of power. The food was tasty! We had the shrimp pasta, trout, and fried rice. Ines was helpful in making food recommendations and good service. Overall nice dinner spot to try after Machu Picchu.
