Very big market and u can find everything here. REMEMBER they hike up price and bargain for everything. I buy a hair color and they tell 100k I paid 70k and walk happily. Later another shop I bargained and buy same product for 40k. 🥹. Purse she say 200k and I bargained for 80k. Be careful of prices specially with old ladies . Have many shop for food too. Even vegetarian

One of my travel companions agreed on a price of 80,000 VND for two hats with one of the shopkeepers. When she opened her wallet to take out the cash for payment, the shopkeeper snatched 200,000 VND. When we confronted her about it, she kept dodging the question and went back on her word. After a back-and-forth argument for a while to no avail, we decided to just forget it and leave. Lesson learned indeed. Otherwise, it was an experience walking through Hue’s largest market. We saw a lot of shrimp paste that the locals use for their dishes, along with various other local ingredients and goods. The market offers a wide range of items, from local produce and seafood to clothing and souvenirs.

I would recommend you walk around this market and take in the flavours and the ambience on display. We were the only tourists there but felt very welcomed. The vendors there won’t accost you. Its a local market and not really meant for tourists although there are plenty of souvenir and trinket shops. The red shrimp paste is everywhere and so are fried Vietnamese food preparations. Right outside the market are plenty of food stalls with the characteristic low chairs common throughout Vietnam. We sat down at one such stall and had Bun Thit Nuong for just 50000 vnd which turned out to be delectable. Who knew pork could taste that good ? As someone who grew up on Chicken, Fish and mutton pork has been nothing short of revelatory for me in Vietnam. Have a short walk around this market, sit down on the low chairs after and have Bun Thit Nuong and watch the locals go by their day for an amazing experience.

Be careful of dishonest sellers— the woman in green tried to scam us. If you see this stand, the prices will be listed 30k for many dishes, but they will serve you one dish and make up some excuse why it cost more than the listed price and then get angry when you don’t want to pay more. Every other food market we have been to in Vietnam honor their fixed prices.
