On the Grid : Chiquitito

"Chiquitito is a beautiful, cozy coffee shop where you can have one of the best specialty coffee expressos. This fair trade mexican business takes care of the whole process beginning with their relationship with the producer and the way they treat coffee beans to the barista training and the cup that you will enjoy in the end. I highly recommend to try Chiquitito Coffee, which mixes an espresso shot with condensed milk: absolutely delicious. Besides, they have a great selection of magazines to read while you are enjoying one of the best cups of coffee of the city." - Arlette Go

"It was only a matter of time before Mexico City got its own hipster fair-trade artisanal café, and this teensy one couldn't be more on point when it comes to sustainability. As the name implies, the perfectly roasted and brewed espresso comes from a small grower in the state of Veracruz, which is famous for its coffee. Fittingly, they serve up a great café con leche, a warm and sweet milky coffee drink that's famous in that part of the country, along with cappuccinos, matcha lattes, chai teas, and more."

Google
very very quaint place! here’s the menu :) delicious food and amazing coffee; they do true pour-overs and special brews, americanos and cold brews. i really enjoyed my experience. the toast has red pepper flakes so beware that can be a bit spicy. not a lot of seating, and the tables on the road are slanted so not the best for enjoying something you might need to cut. overall cute and yummy.

Google
Tiny café that was open on New Year's Day. We felt lucky to find someone open as many shops were closed. The coffee was really great and the shop has a hole in the wall vibe but is also very polished. The standout was the morning bun we ordered - crusty, cinnamon sugar with a soft bready inside. Would love to come back.

Google
Great place!! The staff was super friendly and our cold brews were amazing and well made. They have outdoor sittings also.

Google
Tiny place with great coffee. Slightly loud on the busy street, but great coffee and pastries.

Google
I searching for best coffee in the area and found one next to mine in Condesa, ice Americano tasted just like water, feel like doesn’t have coffee in there, pasty look good, my ice Americano probably 1 star, but service give for 5 very friendly staff, might give another chance to try, other coffee might be good. Maybe I just went best top 5 cafe in each country in South America a bit too fuzz. But overall it ok for me. Really nice area, outside seating was so relaxing in the morning. Edited review: I just want coffee tasted like coffee, the one I received just like water. Thank. That why I had 3 sipped and walk away.

Google
I’ve stopped by twice while doing my laundry across the street. I’ll have to return for coffee sometime but I’m writing to express my satisfaction with the chocolatín. Each time has been the best chocolatín I’ve ever had. It is fresh, light, flaky but not crunchy, bready, not too buttery, the perfect amount of chocolate, and not too sweet. The baristas are also kind and attentive.

Google
Great small space for coffee with a relaxing atmosphere. They have a few tables outside. The espresso tonic tastes great and is refreshing.

Monica Arellano

Google
It is my favorite coffee shop for 6 years, I take my "cortadito" every day. The attention and warmth of the baristas is unmatched, they are wonderful people that I consider my friends, especially Irvin. In all this time I have not had a single problem in the quality of my coffee or food, nor in the service. Its staff is very committed to serving quality drinks. Perhaps the only problem is that it is filling up with rude foreigners who have no intention of speaking Spanish or being nice with the staff or the locals.

Yelp
Tiny coffee shop with excellent and smooth lattes. Very friendly service speaking English and Spanish. Open early and order was ready quickly. Highly recommend. A few seats outside and no indoor seating.

Yelp
3.5 stars but rounding up to 4 stars -- cute cafe with cozy vibes (very limited indoor seating), but slow service and mediocre matcha. The dull green matcha color was a tell-tale sign that the matcha wasn't the best quality. Would probably stick with coffee here!

Yelp
We came here to grab a quick coffee. The latte we ordered tasted very bland and a little burnt. I wouldn't recommend coming here for the coffee.

Yelp
Very cute coffee shop in La Condesa. Serves mostly expats and tourists in the neighborhood. The coffee is delicious and they have a decent selection of French pastries- all very good. Service wonderful andca cozy atmosphere

Yelp
Amazing coffee and I was so happy they had so gluten free options My kids loved their croissants and it's a beautiful little Café. We will be back!!

Yelp
A very charming little cafe in condensa! The fresh flowers in the center of the cafe add a bright touch and the music playing was so calming. We stopped in for a matcha, cappuccino and almond croissant. This might have been the best almond croissant I've had outside of France! Perfect amount of filling and not too sweet. The latte art was also so precious! Stop in for a quick bite if you're in CDMX!
google avatar

Yelp
I've been to one of their other locations close to te US Embassy, and this one here is slightly larger. They hace about five tables inside, compared to the other one which I thnk only ofefers outdoor seating. I was visiting a nearby school for a meeting, and I ordered a large Chai latte for the walk over there. They were busy here this morning, and with two employees the short line moved quickly. The latte was fantastic!

Yelp
Chiquitito was solid, espresso drinks were good, a touch on the bitter side, the namesake chiquitito was on the sweet side, the oatmeal raisin cookie was so crisp and crumbled into a million pieces. Cute spot with nice outdoor seating (kinda small in).

Yelp
The coffee was really good! Super quaint coffee shop in a super cute neighborhood. Stayed in Condesa so we walked about 15 minutes. The service was great. Friendly and polite!

Yelp
Small coffee shop that's been in CDMX since around 2012/ they have 4 locations. First off, this is probably the best spot to get coffee first and then go wait in line for that La Esquina del Chilaquil street vendor joint! Nice espresso drink menu with both hot & cold offerings as well as The Chiquitito. You have to try this double espresso with condensed milk treat! So good. They also have a nice little menu & pastry list. Joint is very small with a patio out front & gets very busy so expect to wait a bit. Service is great & don't forget to tip well! Talk later?

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -Chiquitito Cafe is a wonderful place to grab a cup of joe. -I read all the great reviews on Google Maps so I decided to check this spot out. -I was not disappointed w/ their great tasting Americano. -It really had the perfect taste, color & presentation. -You can enjoy your coffee outside the tiny shop, while sitting in their outdoor seating amongst the tree lined streets of La Condesa. Overall, this is a really good coffee shop in this part of CDMX.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with very quality coffee and breakfast options. It's a tiny little cafe on the inside with just several seats and a beautiful patio outside, which is perfect for breakfast. We got an iced latte and a cold brew and a croissant. Amazing, one of the few places in the area that has a non-acidic coffee. Tips: It could take a little time to get your order, place is very popular.

Yelp
Ohh this place quickly became my daily go to coffee shop while in Mexico City! Fast and friendly service, delicious coffee and pastries, lay back place for work, meetings with friends, or just relax for a bit!

Michael Q.

Yelp
Stop by and tried this place out. It has a simple, yet good selection of food and drinks. Seating is indoor and amazing outdoor covered seating. Ordered Latte, Chai Tea and avocado toast. All were full of flavor and very good price as well. Customer service was great. I was greeted upon arrival and sat immediately. The ambience is nice and has parking right out front. I recommend this place to anyone looking for calm, quaint coffee spot, that has great service and quality foods.

Yelp
Suuuper small, cute, quaint cafe. It's in a pretty quiet area with not a lot of foot/car traffic. But that may be because we came around 2pm and the restaurant next door was quite empty. They have all your typical espresso/coffee drinks with a big food menu (sandwiches, bagels, chia pudding, overnight oats, yogurt, desserts, etc). I wanted to try one of their toasts, but we were full from lunch and having an early dinner. They also had some yummy looking baked goods near the register. We ended up getting 2 cortados with almond milk. It seems like almond milk is the only dairy free alternative at most cafes in cdmx. Cortado was great and the perfect size to fuel the rest of our afternoon!

Yelp
Great little cafe! Chiquitito is right! This gem is in the super hip neighborhood Colonia Condesa, so its a comfortable and clean environment. The cafe reminded me of the cafes I frequented in Amsterdam. Super small, with a some tables outside a hidden bathroom with the smallest sink you'll ever see, lol! Very charming. I ordered a latte and a conchita then sat and worked on my thesis. They have excellent wifi by the way!

leah c.n. s.

Yelp
This is a great little spot! So far, it's the best latte I've had in the city, and they can do latte art with oat milk! Relaxed and friendly atmosphere and staff. I recommend!

Yelp
This place was recommended by our air bnb... it was so good my friend and I came twice one a 2 day trip. It's a tiny cafe, with seating inside and outside, plus WiFi. You can tell some ppl are regulars and I don't blame them. The staff was great and smiled as they dealt with my (and a lot others) broken Spanish. The Dulce matcha latte is what kept me coming back. I'm not sure what they put in it, but it's like crack. Sooo addicting, the perfect pick me up. Gah I can't stop thinking about it. The avocado toast was a hit too! Two huge sliced full of avocado and arugula, topped with chili spices. All for under $7.. my L.A. wallet couldn't have been happier.

Yelp
This place was recommended by our hotel (AR 218). It was a quick 2-minute walk away. Folks in the neighborhood call it their "Strabucks". It is a tiny and comfy café. A few seats inside and out. Free WiFi. Great staffing. A few spoke some English. But pointing always works. We had cappuccinos, leche entera, chia con coco, panque de cardamom, and pan blanco. All swell and in such a nice atmosphere. Damages for 3 with tip was USD15.
google avatar

Yelp
Tiny, hip coffee joint in Condesa. There are a couple of tables inside and a couple lining its exterior, so definitely more of a grab and go spot than a spread out and get cozy spot. I ordered an iced vanilla almond latte and somehow got a hot one, but clearly they're mind readers because that ended up being exactly what my slightly hung over body needed. It was super smooth and tasty. I finished someone else's iced version sans vanilla and it was delightful, so clearly they're quite capable in the caffeine department, no matter the temp.
google avatar

Kenny C.

Yelp
Very solid coffee spot with every type of coffee you can think of, and a limited food menu. There's just a handful of seats inside, but also a few sidewalk tables and a bench. Gets crowded on weekend mornings, but you can snag a seat most other times. I've had the cold brew, espresso, and iced latte here - all were very solid. Had the tomato, mozzarella, and pesto sandwich (on a baguette), and that was really good. All the ingredients were super fresh, and it was enough food to share.
google avatar

G K.

Yelp
best iced Corrado with almond milk I've ever had in my life! the matcha is also quality and delicious (ask for matcha puro if you don't want sugar). They even have gluten free banana bread!

Natalia R.

Yelp
Best chai tea latte Ive had. Many Americans at this place but the chai and avocado toast was well worth the visit.

Yelp
So legit and so friendly I go to the one in condessa and the vide is great inside ! They work so fast and I like them all so much. They have oat milk ! And good Decaf Impressi e

Yelp
Food: 3.5/5.0 Service: 2.0/5.0 Value: 3.0/5.0 Decor: 3.0/5.0 Overall: 3.0/5.0 Solid little local cafe with an espresso tonic 'signature drink'.
google avatar

Razaa A.

Yelp
There is limited seating inside, it's more of a to go spot especially if you're with multiple people. They don't have a ton of options here like I would have hoped. I ordered a caramel latte, and it was tasty. They happened to have two guys passing by playing music so it was great to enjoy some coffee while listening to music in the morning. Overall, the service and coffee here were good, but not extraordinary. I would go back if in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Yelp
Just wanna let y'all know that they do have a commode! Shhhh...its a secret though so don't tell anyone even though I'm tellin' everyone on yelp. Theres a slidin' door in the back, like a secret compartment, where you can use the facilities if need be. That said, the coffee here is great ! I am mighty found of the espresso con hielo cuz it ain't like any normal espresso. It's good espresso. I believe the ice aka hielo really opens up the flavors so ya get all the tastes ! But honestly get whatever ya want. It's all good y'all. This here is some real Mexican coffee so if ya find yerself around these parts do yerself a favor and stop on by. I'm Mason Brooks Country YouTube Star ! Check me out explorin' La Condesa here: https://youtu.be/KxuPrSKrPOY

Yelp
Excellent coffee!!! My fiancé and I ordered the vanilla and mocha lattes and they were one of the best I have ever had!!!! I hardly ever finish my lattes but this time I drank the whole thing. If you live in Mexico City then you must know about this little gem. If you're visiting, you MUST come and grab a latte to go or sit and enjoy one. The place is very small but you might catch a place to sit.
google avatar

Yelp
The Best Coffee in town, really, stop searching...this IS the place! I'm a coffee enthusiast and since I got to Mexico City I've been searching for that coffee shop that you always love, so I found it! They have everything that you want, all of the varieties with normal prices. The baristas are super friendly and the environment is excellent, you will always make friends from around the world. Come! It's an amazing coffee shop.
google avatar

Jithu M.

Yelp
As everyone's mentioned, it's a tiny third-wave (bougie) coffee shop that's popular with tourists. I got an espresso tonic, which was quite good. My partner got an iced latte, and this is where it goes wrong. We saw that the latte cup was almost pure white (i.e., milk). I'm nowhere near fluent in Spanish, but we noticed that a different barista scolded the one who was making the drink. The scolding barista pulled out a pitcher of what appeared to be cold brew, and topped off the "latte", then handed out drinks to us. After we walked out, my partner and I confirmed that the drink was basically just a cup of milk. Either this cafe is awful at making drinks (which doesn't seem to be the case), or they made a mistake, knew it, and didn't correct it. After reading some of the other reviews (e.g., the person who received a hot drink after ordering an iced one), it seems like it's the latter.
google avatar

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Best coffee in CDMX. The atmosphere is perfectly relaxed and seeing all the locals pop in for cafe y pan is heartwarming. The servers are quick and leave you plenty of time to enjoy your break. The barista is among the best I've come across in a small coffee shop. His work is beautiful and always tastes great. Stop in if you are in the area. We've been to CDMX twice and made it a point to stop at Chiquitito Café.
google avatar

Jesse And Christy S.

Yelp
True to it's name, this place is tiny!! Good luck getting a seat, but if you do get one, the food is good and they have many different kinds of pour over coffee options (i.e. cafe metodos). However, it's pretty touristy so don't expect a local experience (reminds me a lot of Enhorabuena Cafe). I'm happy I went once, but I won't go out of my way to go again.
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
The chiquitito drink is like a rich vietnamese coffee and it is delicious. Very cute, small bustling little neighborhood spot that is a great stop for a morning pick me up.
google avatar

Xochitl G.

Yelp
Ahhh I loved the coffee shop! So homie and small and original! I love that it's a little garage joint turned to a modern cafe! Now for the coffee! I got the Caramel Latte! Just wow! The foam and consistency were so great and very smooth. If you run the espresso for too long it'll get bitter (bad coffee) this ruined latte. However this coffee was right on the money! Loved the people here! Going back to the states soon and bought myself some coffee beans! Place is 10/10! The lattes were 42 pesos (19 pesos = 1 USD) so it was relatively cheap as opposed to the coffee in the states! Recommend to all tourists and citizens from far and wide!
google avatar

Renee M.

Yelp
Cozy cafe with all your standard cafe fare done nicely. They have non-dairy milk available and in addition to tasty pastries they have chia seed puddings topped with fresh fruit. Worth a stop by if you need a great coffee with a little something to tide you over until your next taco
google avatar

Sean P.

Yelp
Hip, small cafe with high quality coffee and small bites. There's a mall seating area inside and outside, or you can simply grab your coffee to go. They also offer non-dairy milks for you cappuccinos, lattes, etc.
google avatar

Wayne B.

Yelp
Outstanding coffee, very good salads and sandwiches, and great onda. Espresso drinks are the best we've had in Mexico and rival the great coffee labs of major US cities. Small plates are made with tasty, fresh ingredients and the sandwiches are made on very good bread - the baguette was crispy on the outside and warm and fluffy inside. Three of the five sandwiches are vegetarian, vaulting this tiny (chiquitito) restaurant above many Condesa restaurants in terms of veggie choices. There are a few tables inside and two out front, so seating is limited but if you can get a spot, go.
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
The coffee at Chiquitito is so good, why would anyone ever want to go to a Starbucks. There are many coffee options around CDMX and Chiquitito is at the top of my list when I go back. We ordered and had some questions about their coffee and the baristas were patient, answered our questions, and came back to ask how we liked it. Our concerns were about the sweetness of their flavored lattes. Our lattes were not too sweet, but had just the right amount of flavor. The barista who answered our question, made our coffees, and came back to check in with us, understands that coffee should have its own flavor and not be overpowered by sugary syrups just because you order a specific flavor. It's all about the coffee flavor at Chiquitito.
google avatar

Amanda G.

Yelp
Great little cafe in Condesa! The staff is friendly (even in the setting of our subpar Spanish attempts) and we loved everything we ordered! The espresso drinks are delicious and my boyfriend kept commenting, about his pour over, "mmmmm so smooth!" We also were delighted by our sandwich -- a delicious open face delight with fresh avocado and copious feta (in fact, I had vowed to eat nothing given overwhelming fullness but couldn't resist). They also have wireless internet. So good we came here two days in a row!
google avatar

Tadzio D.

Yelp
Stellar coffee spot. 2nd time here in Mexico City and this cafe has become part of my daily routine. You can't really go wrong with anything here, but specifically I recommend the chai, chai espresso, and the grapefruit bowl.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice location with indoor and outdoor seating. Great espresso and cake. Super quality. The staff could cheer up a bit. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Nice people, cute -- TERRIBLE coffee! Went twice. Bitter and sour cold brew the first time, 2 undrinkable americanos the second time!

Yelp
My girlfriend loves her cappuccinos, but never puts grief on a bad drink. If it sucks, she just adds sugar. But I wanted to show her how a proper cappuccino is served. So I searched online and found an article from coffee blog, The Coffee Vine (http://thecoffeevine.com/reviews/cafes/mexico/mexicocity/chiquitito-cafe-mexico-city-mx/). They wrote about the shop and quoted the owners saying, "We just wanted to create a space for really great coffee, where baristas knew how to properly make a Cappuccino..." I thought, THIS is where I'll take her. I'd never been there myself but talked it up strictly based on this article. Well, we ordered. The latte art was great. The milk was a good temperature, but could've been a bit hotter. But overall, the cappuccino was disappointing. The cappuccino was bitter and so was my girlfriend's reaction because I had hyped this place as the best in DF. I'll go again, but hope they can fix whatever wasn't right on that day. Visited: Sep 16, 2016 @ 3pm

Yelp
Absolutely adore this cafe! Consistently good, excellent coffee quality. Don't plan to eat here, but do plan to enjoy a great cup of coffee. I love their Chai Expresso with a fresh pastry. Service could definitely be better and faster. I've waited up to 10 min for a cuppa... Worth the wait, though.
google avatar

Yelp
Chiquitito Café is a small spot in the hip hood of Condesa serving some great coffee. Prices are good and so are their coffee. They really do know how to make coffee here. Besides coffee you'll be able to munch on some snacks and light dishes as well. I really like the size of the café - it increases the coziness. The service was attentive, yet not that smiling. Mexico City keeps surprising me with all these amazing places around town - from coffee to food via culture and art. Chiquitito is another one to add to your list.
google avatar

Gal N.

Yelp
Really cute little place (a few tables inside, a couple outside) that serves GREAT coffee. Probably our favorite coffee in Mexico City, and we've tried a few -- we just had to keep coming back to this one. Our standing order was an espresso and a cappuccino.
google avatar

Quintin R.

Yelp
Easily my favorite coffee in Mexico City. Their food is also really well done.

Yelp
great little coffee shop, soooo cute! Had a cold brew and it was super good. Friendly, hip staff and overall cool vibe.

Yelp
Best Espresso in town (so far)! Small, cute, and they know how to properly froth milk :). Sadly, 95% of places in MX don't. I had a mocha and banana bread. Nice latte art on my mocha, and very tasty. Not too sweet and smooth and creamy. Wifi is above average - 10megabits down, 5 up. Little or no power plugs.
