Chicken Inn

This has been my go-to shop for broasted chicken. Quaint little hole-in-the-wall place for good quality, fresh food. I have not yet had any negative experiences with their chicken, apart from maybe the occasional soggy bits on the otherwise crispy skin, but that could be attributed to the chicken steaming inside of the box during the car ride home, so it is best eaten as quickly as can be devoured to experience max deliciousness and freshness. I have been ordering take-out from them for several years and hopefully will continue ordering from them for several more years to come.

This is a tiny storefront in a tiny strip center with a tiny parking lot offering to go orders only. The two piece dark was a good price but they have a surcharge. I hate surcharges. Just be honest with your price upfront without adding fees to the back end. The staff was okay, not overly friendly but not rude either. Pretty common Chicago attitudes. Their chicken is good but it was cold like it had been sitting under a heat lamp that wasn't working.. I was suspicious by how quickly they handed me my order, so I know it wasn't cooked to order. Their potatoes were cold and not that great, definitely sitting out for a while. The slaw was pretty much just cabbage, mayo, and vinegar. Southerners know that sometimes the gas station on the corner has the best fried chicken and the best tater logs in town. Once you leave the south the quality drops though. This reminds me of food from a yankee gas station.

The team at Chicken In are consistently friendly and accommodating. Unlike other places where staff can seem stressed and let that affect customer interactions, the crew here handles busy times with calm professionalism. Great ChiCken, not saggy or oily, tender and juicy. Flavor is excellent While it Still tastes like good quality ChiCken. Staff are super friendly they meet and greet you like a family member, they give you a neighborhood feel. Love their generous portions. Highly recommended

No atmosphere needed in this place, it’s takeout only, and there is no better broasted chicken that I’ve been able to find anywhere !!! I’ve been to two other places they’re just a little bit off perfection where these guys have it dialed in ! And watch for their specials that they will text you if you get on their list ! 👍🏼😋

This place IS a gem! Nice, friendly service. Chicken is crispy, moist, flavorful & not greasy. You can order chx by the piece! Consider putting ‘by the piece’ orders in advance or just wait ~10mins for it to be made. No big deal cuz it’s worth it. Bring CASH! I would buy buckets of this chx to share with friends & family. Prices are great & kitchen is clean & spotless ❤️

Tried this place for the first time, When I called the guy on the phone seemed like he was going through the motions, warmed up a little while taking my order, but that should have been my red flag in not going... Overall just OK. This place is a little over hyped up to be honest. I see " best in the city reviews ", I see " best around", etc.. Stop yourself!! It's just OK. It is quick?yes, small place, maybe can fit 7 people comfortably in the waiting area, chicken has decent flavor but not nearly the best in the city. Grease what oozing through my fingers as I ate it. That's not a bad thing all the time, but not for this place. Will I return? Maybe. Will I go out of my way? NO. Will I recommend? You know the answer to that.

The food is very delicious,being ribs, chicken and roasted potatoes. Great place with friendly employees to serve you.

Best darn broasted chicken on the NW side of Chicago, and maybe the world! Love this place. Get yourself some, of have some delivered. The slaw and onion rings are also excellent. Check it out. You won't be disappointed.

First let me say how appreciative I am to be able to order and have delivered on Christmas Day the most delicious broasted chicken we've ever had! We have enjoyed your chicken for over 50 years and hope to for another 50!! Although Nano's is a very close second you guys are our # 1! Every thing was nearly perfect ! Ordering, confirming and delivery were spot on! My only complaint was that there were several pieces of chicken that were over cooked to the point of not being able to eat them . These were mostly breasts! Not sure what happened there , but this is the second time it has happened with the breast pieces!‍ we love Chicken Inn and I've gotten a dozen compliments already about the delisious chicken so it's not a game changer , just something you might want to look into!

The best fried chicken place to go to. They are crispy and juicy. Price is OK. I love that you can also get fried chicken liver and gizzard. The place is just to go. Service is quick.

I've been waiting to have this chicken for several months. So I had some yesterday. My Son picked it up after 15 minutes or so when they told him to. The chicken was cool and overcooked. I was very disappointed in the chicken. Next time KFC I would give them two stars

Love their broasted chicken. I order their chicken and broasted potatoes for parties and put out toppings on the side to create a broasted potato bar. For the kids I get chicken nuggets and mozzarella sticks. The food is always a hit. Always delivered hot and fresh!

Jewel chicken is much better and way cheaper with larger pieces chicken inn is to expensive and the guy with that works there will cheat u on the chicken pieces .This Place Sucks

Ok, we late to the show but we here now! This chicken is fire! Love places that don't look like much but pack a punch! Got the 3 piece fried chicken meal. Came with 2 breast (perfectly cooked) and a wing. Cole slaw (on point) and a roll. No sauce on the menu. Straight up chicken! Fries not bad. Not outstanding but played their role. $2 pop's. Wife had shrimp dinner, she said it was very crispy and good. Same sides as mine. Popeye's = No, KFC = No, BBW = Hell No! Chicken Inn = Hell yeah!

Little whole in the wall place with challenging parking because of the 3 way intersection, tried 3 piece Dark meal and I'm giving this 4 stars because of the chicken. The fries and coleslaw were very bland. However the chicken was so crispy, and so juicy I actually heard a loud crisp when I took a bite. Some of the best fried chicken I've ever had and highly recommend. I would suggest getting a bucket of Chicken and getting your own sides as there's didn't impress. But there fried chicken is definitely on another level!!

Chicken Inn has been around for 50 years, but I had the broasted chicken for the first time recently. Chicken Inn is located along a strip mall, and there is no dine in whatsoever as there is just a small bare-bones vestibule to stand in if you are picking up an order. I was in there just long enough to appreciate the framed images of chickens. My buds seemed to know the lay of the land, and sure enough once they placed our order the food came out to us in just a few minutes. Our chicken buffet order of 16 pieces of chicken came with broasted potato wedges and a container of cole slaw (other sides are fries and rolls). This combo meal fed our party of six and cost about $41, not bad at all. The broasted chicken was tasty and was close enough in flavor to fried chicken while being less greasy. We had fun with the broasted potatoes as they are huge wedges of potato. The cole slaw was creamy if modestly flavored.

Ordered here again last night 10/28/23 . I am a Chicken connoisseur. This Chicken is in a class by itself . Absolutely top 3 anywhere in Chicagoland. Great service and packaging.

I went there the other day, after not ordering from here since before Covid hit. I remembered it being pretty good back in the day. The chicken came out very fast which was a good thing but upon eating it, I found the chicken to taste dry and kinda greasy. sorry to say, I was greatly disappointed.

Yummy and crisp chicken, though the sides are lacking any variety. The "spicy" chicken is pretty mild.

Good food. Fast service. Friendly people. They were closing when I got there. But they were very cordial and the food was good.

Best chicken in town. I tiny shack that has hired surly employees for half a century. And I love it. One breast can feed a family of four. You certainly get your money's worth. Has the cost gone up like everywhere, yes. Does it matter, no. Go treat yourself. And you absolutely must get the broasted potatoes. Must. Call 10 minutes ahead and it'll be ready for you. Trust me, I has no skin in this game.

It was great to call the restaurant directly and put in my order. Super polite fella answered my questions and we ordered the 8 piece buffet for dinner tonight. They use their own people to deliver so all the $ goes to the restaurant. I think the guy who took my order was the delivery person. He brought a hand held machine to charge us, so no worries about giving a card over the phone. Chicken was hot and cooked perfectly. The potatoes were good as well, and not overdone. Juicy fried chicken and was able to sub out wings for other dark meat-legs! Thanks for giving me the night off cooking and leftovers to spare for lunch tomorrow. First timer for this place while my fella ate here 20 years ago. We will be ordering again and look forward to this great fried chicken again. Only thing is wish it had some more spice, but hey, 50 years in business, they're making a good fried chicken. Maybe next time I'll try I'll the broasted version.

I have loved their chicken for over 30 years. Their chicken and broasted potatoes deserve 5 stars. I tried the ribs, and was disappointed for the first time. The sauce wasn't bad, but the ribs were much too salty. I will stick to their chicken from now on.

The Chicken Inn has been at this location forever and serves up the best chicken around! Also has great shrimp and fish. I have ordered catering pans for parties and everyone is satisfied! Do not be deceived by the tiny store front , this place is the best!

Delicious food! No dining room - take out only. Limited menus -- broasted chicken, barbeque ribs, fried shrimp. Side include broasted potato wedges, French fries, mushrooms, broccoli cheese bites, soft rolls, and tasty cole slaw

Chicken inn has the best chicken around ! They are always so fast and efficient . I got the chicken tenders and they have the besttt sauce I've ever tasted to pair with it . Sooo soo good . Highly Recommend

A longtime favorite. I grew up having Chicken inn as a kid when it was on Lawrence Ave in Chicago. We get it occasionally when we have a taste for fried chicken.

Edison park is known for This chicken licking tender basket and open for holidays ! They close early unfortunately I wish they were open until 2 am this place is wonderful I drive all the way from portage park area to go here !

The magic is gone. Been coming here for over twenty years it was always great. The last four visits/orderes were completely over cooked and dried out i am sad to say I'm done with chicken inn.

Now I love a good steak, But, Chicken Inn Rules. My motto is-" You got No beef with Chicken" ;) Hands down some of the best Fried Chicken on the North Side at a reasonable price.. I used to enjoy a popey's every now & then until last week- which is another Bad review- but this place is delisious.. I ordered a 4-peice.. Moist, and the breading was very tastey.. The place looked very clean inside and the workers all wearing PPEs... Very Happy with Chicken Inn

Seen a lot of reviews saying the best fried chicken.. and it is not bad at all but kfc is just as good quality wise to be honest. The potatoes are just that.. no ketchup no hot sauce. Coleslaw I like. No napkins.. no fork/spoon to eat. Mid at best.

Chicken is always fresh and delicious! I love their broasted potatoes! Not a huge fan of the coleslaw, but my family loves it. They are also very accommodating....I called and needed the food in 15 min (didn't think that one through) and because it was a small order they had it ready for me even though they were super busy!

This tiny carryout joint is a time machine. Apart from obligatory price increases over the years, little else has changed since 1972. The gaudy, oversized sign has become iconic and the menu is unapologetically retro. The order window and waiting area were "minimalist" long before that term was invented. But there is no need to update the appearance. IMHO, their broasted chicken and potato wedges are better than anyone else's, and that's what keeps this mom-and-pop business rolling.

I am really a fan of Chicken! This place is one of the best Chicken spots I have ever been to! Their offers here are great, they have fried chicken, roasted, and other. Their chicken is very juicy, tender, and savory. They also have mashed potatoes, fried mushrooms, coleslaw, and other side dishes. Their chicken is very popular and lots of people keep coming back again and again for it. Affordable and very delicious chicken. Chicken Inn never disappoints. They made all of their food to perfection. They served all of the food on time. The whole place is wide, clean, bright, and really nice. You can enjoy and relax inside while feeling the awesome vibe of the interior. The decorations are also interesting. Their seating is plenty and well-organized. The tables and chairs are perfectly aligned. Customers can easily find a vacant spot. My only suggestion would be to add extra comfort room, because of few customers they have their comfort room is always occupied and you need to fall in line. But still, Chicken is a really great and highly recommended spot. Definitely a gem in this area of Chicago. If you are planning to pay a visit, I also recommend getting a reservation first, so you can have a reserved table once you arrived. Chicken Inn is really on fire! Best chicken I have ever had! This place is amazing! Doesn't look like much on outside but food and service is outstanding! Three generations of my family have used them! It's always are go to for parties! We like Spicy chicken with potatoe wedges, we tried everything and nothing was a disappointment! You won't regret ordering from them!

Chicken is great, especially the spicy version! Broasted potatoes are good. Coleslaw should be changed. The young man who takes orders is always polite and efficient, especially in this time in society where good service without attitude is rare. We always tip him. Forget the big chain chicken joints...get your cluck cluck here! Support small local businesses like this one. They need it.

Love this place. I have lived in Edison Park all my life. This place has not skipped a beat. Food has always been delicious. The chicken and potatoes are truly awesome. Never had an issue with the food, service or delivery. Broasted chicken is one of my favs. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

Chicken Inn has been an institution on Milwaukee and Harlem for years. This unassuming storefront in an old strip mall serves up a ton of broasted chicken. Broasted is similar to fried, yet it is healthier. I don't really know the details, but it is pretty good. They only do takeout here and there is a small waiting area if you order isn't up. The staff is pretty efficient and they get orders out in about 15 minutes from the time you call in. I have had their chicken catered at some neighborhood parties and always thought it was decent. It is lighter than other fried chicken, but still packs a good amount of flavor. The pieces usually seem a little on the small side, but that isn't always a bad thing. On a recent visit we tried the wings and were satisfied. These aren't traditional wings - they are both parts of the wing with no sauce. They were smaller, but again tasted pretty good. They were a little pricey at $1.29 each. Our side orders of onion rings and mozzarella sticks were also tasty. It is a pretty limited menu with a heavy emphasis on chicken. Check out Chicken Inn if you are into broasted chicken!

Best broasted chicken in Chicagoland and been there forever. Creamy coleslaw is excellent. Fries are always undercooked and limp- order crispy.

This was our first try of this local and historic business. In short: fresh and delicious! We had a 10 piece chicken-in-a-box ($15.99), and the chicken was fresh, not greasy, and perfectly seasoned. Like they advertise, their chicken is never frozen. 4 of us tried it, and 4 of us agreed - excellent broasted chicken! The call-in order was ready in 20 minutes. We'll be back!

No question that their fried chicken is tasty and really good. There are changes though in their broasted potatoes.. Its bigger now and bland unlike the one that I've tasted before. I had been bragging about the taste of their broasted potatoes to my kids. Now that I had the time finally to go so my family could taste it, they appreciated the chicken but the broasted potatoes failed to impress them. I hope that whatever recipe they had for the broasted potatoes be brought back, even the size.

i walked in on a Saturday afternoon- the place smelled like mildew and mold. but i ordered anyway and was kinda scared to eat the chicken...couldnt wait to get out of there. I got home and decided to try it... the chicken was out of this world.. but please fix the smell in the front where you walk in

Best fried chicken I've ever had in my life!! I ordered a 50 piece chicken buffet for fight night and all 10 people said it was the best fried chicken they ever had as well!! Unbelievably good, I'll be bringing their chicken to every party from here on out!! Super cheap too, you won't be disappointed!!
