Château de Rochecotte

We came to this chateau for lunch. The chateau itself is beautiful, set in wonderful parkland; some parts manicured, others wilder. The chateau is well maintained and the public rooms which we saw were comfortable with lovely furniture. The staff were all welcoming and pleasant.||Lunch was taken in a lovely restaurant with period features. A Saturday in October was quiet but the food was good and looked very appetizing on the plate. The langoustine were excellent as was the pomme tatin but some of the other dishes weren’t quite hot enough for our taste.||Altogether a lovely visit.

We had stayed here once before, just as Covid was closing everything down - on that occasion we were the only guests in the hotel and restaurant. We loved it, so have finally got round to coming back. The plan was to break up our drive down to Bordeaux, which we did - and we also stayed again on our way back up to Calais.||I would recommend this place to anyone, the building, grounds and public rooms are stunning. All three rooms that we have stayed in were excellent - full of character, comfortable and clean.||The food was very good both at dinner and breakfast. Fabulous cheese trolley and desserts. And a great selection of cakes and pastries at breakfast.

We've been searching the Loire Valley for a hotel to bring a group for an active travel vacation "FitCation" in 2026. We saw a LOT of different Chateaux. Chateau Rochecotte simply blew us away...so much so that we moved our entire itinerary for our group to stay here. We stayed here for two nights in the highest season and felt spoiled and indulged. Our rooms were the "Grand Comfort" rooms, not even their best, but definitely some of the nicest rooms in which we've ever stayed. The rooms were large and airy, with huge bathrooms (tubs and showers), ice-cold air conditioning, and a huge comfortable bed. We dined in the fabulous restaurant, and during the day we spent some time exploring the many acres of property and trails through the woods surrounding it. To say this is luxury is an understatement. Best of all, the staff treated us as if we were VIP's, even though the hotel was full. Carla, one of the family members, not only gave us a tour, but she also graciously sat and gave us many tips for activities to do in the area. Every staff member was kind and friendly. You will feel as if you're special. If you want to be spoiled, as well as have a wonderful base to explore the Loire Valley, do not miss this absolutely stunning hotel.

What a special place. It is a unique property like no other. The rooms are huge and well done. King sized comfortable beds. The water is steamy hot. Very clean. The staff is friendly and speaks English well. Dinner was wonderful. The younger woman who served the cheese board was delightful.

Guests at chateau with booked dinner reservation months in advance. When arriving for dinner advised we should be seated at auxiliary dining area as “large group “ was in preferred dining area and might be noisy. Adjacent dining area clearly inferior with very small bistro tables with no tablecloths and extremely small eating area. Turns out the main dining room was no busier or noisier - just measurably nicer. Why we were discouraged from having a fine dining experience remains a mystery to me. If you are picking this hotel based on the dining think again and maybe choose differently.

Great place, amazing grounds and property. Really nice, especially on a sunny day.|Room 31 is nice and was comfortable. Slightly strange air con arrangement where you have to call reception to have it turned on (there was no unit controller in the room) we thought this was very strange as I’m not sure what you were supposed to do in the middle of the night if you would like to turn it off. Bed and pillows comfy. Shower or sink didn’t really drain properly either, which was quite grim.|Dinner was good but a bit mixed in terms of quality. The fois gras starter was excellent however the goats cheese Mille-feuille had a lack of salt so was tasteless. From mains, the sea bass was excellent and delicious, the Brill however was again, tasteless, like it hadn’t been salted. Chocolate dessert and fruit dessert were both nice. The service was faultless. They also have tailie loupes which is big wine bonus, the wine list was excellent.|Breakfast was a little strange, no one was there to greet us so we just sat down and there was no bread when we came down (had to wait 15 mins for bread), bit odd as we weren’t the only table asking for more bread and we weren’t late. |Overall, pretty good. Couple of tweaks to food and room would help a lot. In terms of price, it’s not up to the level of what they are charging so expensive.

We’ve been to France many times and stayed in dozens of hotels. This is the best ever, faultless from start to finish. First impressions on driving up to the building through beautifully maintained gardens really set the scene. We were welcomed warmly, and upgraded to a Prestige room. The room had everything we required; comfortable superking bed, sitting area, spacious bathroom with bath and shower over; overlooking the front lawn, but very quiet. We didn’t eat breakfast but had dinner on each of our 3 nights- again, faultless. Interesting seasonal menu, 4 choices per course, a superb Chariot de Fromages and flawless, professional and friendly service. Service was excellent despite the presence in the hotel of a small (ish) tour group each night.|There’s lots of parking, and room to store bicycles in the old stables. You can also hire bikes and there’s a waymarked cycle route (no. 31, 24kms) from directly outside the hotel. It’s also within easy reach of Azay-Le-Rideau, and Chinon amongst other attractions. Unreservedly recommended.

The bed is very large and lovely soft furnishings in the room. |Drinks are pricey but for such a stunning location that’s what I’d have expected. |Arrived too late for lunch but the kitchen made us a fabulous baguette to keep us going until our meal tonight. |The pool area is beautiful and towels included. |The grounds are huge, a walkers paradise above the chateau. |We would definitely return if coming this way through France again.|Service is exceptional. |Can’t find a fault. |Paradise.
