Pretty solid, would come back again! The atmosphere is awesome, tucked away below street level it definitely gives some of the Hong Kong vibes you’re imagining. Service was solid, slight nitpick is that the provided chopsticks for me were mismatched (one was flat, the other round) - I’m just surprised they’re not the same for everyone? Now, the main part of the review - the food! We got the Chinese New Year banquet. The highlights of the starters for me were the oysters (awesome flavour combo I never imagined with oysters), the prawn toast (this is the first prawn toast I really enjoyed) and the Yusheng was a nice touch. The mains (fish as well as a fried rice and greens) were all good. For me, the low lights were the foie gras dish (potentially I just don’t enjoy foie?) as well as the dessert (in saying that, I’ve not yet been super impressed by any Chinese dessert). Lastly, the angpao were a nice touch for CNY, each with a gift inside (we won a vodka team which was delicious and some mini cocktails which were so-so).

Visited on Monday night for a birthday date, and wow it was still so lively! I love the environment, the whole ambience gives off this mysterious Eastern dining vibe The lobster noodles were lighter than I expected. I thought the gravy would be richer to go with the mild noodles, but it was more delicate than I imagined. Overall, the food was beautiful and on point, and the boss was generous and attentive, taking the time to explain the dishes. The service staff were considerate and gave me advice while I was ordering because of my dietary restrictions. We also received a birthday complimentary dessert, that’s so sweet of them. Big shout out to the mango pudding We had such a great time and definitely hope to come back again

Loved our recent dinner at Central! Good selection and comfortable seating. We loved the clay pot rice and the lobster noodles. Although the duck was tasty, we preferred the traditional Chinese roast duck. The dry aged version makes a leaner duck which was tasty, but missing the juiciness of a traditional roast duck.

We had an excellent time for our celebration here. The atmosphere was amazing and we were able to have a conversation easy. Our waitress Sarah was very vigilant of the diary allergy my partner has. Everyone was very accommodating.

On my 20th birthday i chose to come to Central for my celebration. Upon arriving, we were greeted with smiles and kindness which was off to a good start. However, after we were seated, chosen our food (we went with the executive banquet), things started going down hill from there! Part of the banquet had a oyster dish which tasted awfully funny, the texture of the oyster was rather slimy and mushy, compared to those that i've had (i love oysters) it was certainly unfresh. Then there were the lobster spring rolls, which had an awful stench that reminded me of a public restroom, each bite filled my mouth with this weird smell as if the lobster was left overnight on the counter. The drunken chicken was another miss, as a gym bro who has cooked chicken breast over thousands of times, this pink was definitely not cooked. The taste of blood was still there and it just tasted off as well. Everything else was okay but the Black Angus Striploin was extremely over seasoned and the ratios were off, i got more potatoes on that dish then i get in my meal prep. The same night, upon returning home, my stomach began to hurt like hell. For the past 3 days i have had the most intense diarrhea and stomach pain, i can't stop throwing up and i believe i have contracted Salmonella or some type of food poisoning. I would not come back again, this has ruined my birthday and i will never return to this place again.

Central Restaurant is so much more than a meal — it’s a full experience. The thoughtful, modern take on Hong Kong cuisine is impressive, but what truly sets this place apart is the vibe. From the energy of the room to the impeccable, attentive service (John was a fantastic waiter) everything feels intentional and flawlessly executed. Stylish, confident, and memorable — Central is Brisbane dining done right.

Absolutely fantastic place. Loved the decor. Jordyn's customer service was exceptional. Food was delicious. The prawn toast was divine. Would definitely go back again.

The food was such a disappointment. We had to wait over an hour for the Black Angus with honey, which turned out to be completely over-seasoned — so much honey that you could barely taste anything else. Both dim sums we tried (the Peking duck and the prawn har gow) were dry. The fillings were under-seasoned and the wrappers were way too thick. We even had to ask for sauce — why wouldn’t you serve it automatically? It’s dim sum! The foie gras was another letdown. Nothing on the menu mentioned that it would be made into a pâté instead of being served as a whole piece. Service was off from the start. Staff were busy talking and laughing with each other instead of checking on tables. No one came to clear our finished dishes, and when they finally did, they just took them away without asking. After waiting an hour for our main, we had to ask if it was ready — it wasn’t even a busy night — and the waiter just said “it’s coming” and rushed off without any apology. Overall, not worth it at all.
