"Camping on the crater rim in Central Island National Park Central Island National Park is set in northern Kenya in the middle of Lake Turkana - a jade-blue inland sea that is filled with crocodiles. The park itself is made up of three active volcanoes that puff and smoke their way from day to day. Here, on the rim of one of the craters, is a campsite where visitors can see the stars glittering over the black lava beach, while the volcanoes steam away in the background."

🚤✨ Just took a wild ride across the jade waters of Lake Turkana to Central Island, and let’s just say…this island is serving serious volcanic vibes 🌋! The boat ride felt like an adventure out of a movie—wind in my hair, sun on my face, and endless views of Africa’s largest desert lake. Once on the island, it was like stepping into a dream: craters filled with turquoise lakes, rugged lava cliffs, and panoramic views that go on forever. No filter needed when nature’s this breathtaking. 🌊🔥 Who knew the desert could be this magical?

A good day trip from Eliye Springs. Unfortunately, many of the famous crocodiles have been poached. You will need to hire a private boat.

It's a world UNESCO World Heritage heritage, located on Lake Turkana. It has three crater lakes, a crocodile lake, a flamingo lake, and a tilapia lake. It's accessed by a motorboat from either Kalokol or Eliye. You have to pay Kws charges before accessing the park at their Lodwar and Kalokol offices. It's a great place for hiking and picnicking. It's a two-hour boat ride from Eliye depending on the lake currents and 30 minutes, from Kalokol.

Schade.
