Castle Hill Inn is a stunning Victorian mansion set on 40 waterfront acres, offering refined dining and charming beach cottages with breathtaking views.
"Castle Hill sits at the halfway point along Newport’s famous 10-mile-long Ocean Drive loop. You’ll feel like you’re making your way to the end of the earth as you pull up to the Agassiz Mansion, home of the Castle Hill restaurant, where you’ll be greeted by a valet and guided through the elegant wood-and-leather studded lobby of the hotel to the Aurelia dining room. The prix-fixe, six-course menu starts at $165 per person, but is worth it for things like Rhode Island fluke prepared with rhubarb and wasabi, or venison with white asparagus. We also love going for lunch, grabbing a lawn seat or something on the Lawn Terrace, and watching the boats as they sail through the narrow channel. Use it as a summery daytime spot to enjoy sweeping views of Conanicut Island, Narragansett Bay, and the Newport Bridge with a drink in hand, much like the Vanderbilts probably did back in the day." - danielle rose
"This 19th-century Victorian manse on a peninsula off Ocean Drive overlooks the Atlantic and has a cedar shingles and a turret. Most guest rooms have whirlpool tubs with marble surrounds, while beach cottages are filled with wicker furniture and colors inspired by the ocean. Dishes like Georges Bank cod and Canadian wild boar are served by attentive staff. Take in the sunset views from the Adirondack chairs on the rolling lawn and watch boats going in and out."
"Since crowds are lighter, it's a good time to try Newport's most in-demand restaurants, like The Dining Room at Castle Hill Inn." - Travel + Leisure Editors
"Iconic inn offering a 'Gilded Age Experience Package' inspired by the HBO series, as well as 'Summer Asado Dinners' featuring four courses of Argentine barbecue served al fresco."
"While we’re big fans of this hotel all-year-long, it’s pretty great when the weather warms up. Grace Kelly’s favorite private beach is on premises—along with a 19th-century lighthouse—and you can rent the hotel’s yacht to picnic on a nearby island. Whether you opt for a room perched on the hill (beware, the walls in the hotel-proper are thin), a chalet by the harbor, or a beachside cottage, they are all beautifully appointed (and individually decorated) with stunning water views. Perks vary from room to cottage, including gas fireplaces, under-floor heating, whirlpool tubs, and private beaches/harbors. The two hotel restaurants—which source ingredients from on-property—are some of Newport’s best."
