one of a kind B&B experience you will definitely not regret if you like medieval history, especially you can enjoy the whole castle before and after opening hours without disturbance. The master room is highly recommended, clean and basic facilities with hot water supply, breakfast is one of the best I had in Tuscany. Driving there could be challenging so smaller size car would fit better.

We only took a tour and our guides had arranged for us to have lunch in the Medieval Banquet hall. The tour was fascinating and the food amazing. The views are forever and so beautiful. An experience I will never forget.

Fun! We greatly enjoyed exploring the castle and town at night and dawn--spooky atmosphere at night, great light & cool temps at dawn. The staff were very helpful and friendly (even though overworked). Without notice, they were able to accommodate dietary needs at breakfast (gluten-free bread, vegetarian options), and get us a nearby dinner reservation at a popular restaurant on short notice. They even gave us a private 1 hour tour in English to accommodate our schedule, even though they were clearly very busy. If you're coming by public transit, I recommend taking a taxi not the bus. Also, if you're 2 people booking the family room (Pappagelli) and want both rooms, verify in advance. Castello Malaspina was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Italy. Thank you!

Amazing, true medieval castle stay experience. If you want to stay in a working castle that feels, looks authentic then stop reading and book it now. I’m a castle nut, I visit them all over. This was the best castle hotel ever. It has huge walls from the 1100’s, frescos from the 1300’s, battlements, towers, period furnishings, and even a dungeon. We had two rooms and both were awesome. The staff were super friendly and give tours of the castle. The views are spectacular. If you are looking for an authentic castle hotel experience, this is it.

I could write a long review, but I will keep it short and sweet. The castle and it's views of the sea and mountains are unforgettable. Drinks on the terrace overlooking the sea are some of the best views in Italy. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and clean. We were giving the keys to the castle and were encouraged to explore its history and it's "spirits" both during the day and at night. Bianca (the cat, not the spirit), was the cherry on top of the experience. She would follow us around the castle as our protector and tour guide. As a yearly visitor of Tuscany, I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I will definitely be returning and making it a yearly visit. I will give this stay a 11/10 because of Bianca the cat!

This was by far the most unique accomodation experience we ever had. The castle is beautiful and well restaurated. We were amazed during our full one day stay. Just note is an castle so the climate control by itself is decent but there is ofcourse no airco and some stairs to move around. The parking facilities are also quite close. The view was stunning, the staff super friendly and roaming the castle is great. It's surprisingly affordable as well. As semi-budget traveller we wouldn't usually check accommodations of these sort. We happy to stumble upon. The only easy way to improve the sleeping experience is that they add a fan. It does get quite hot

I absolutely love this place! We've visited the Castle for the umpteenth time now, and as always, it was wonderful: amazing location, breathtaking views, lovely and very helpful stuff <3, delicious breakfasts! We're so happy that we could stay at the Castle.

The BEST bed and breakfast I’ve ever had the chance of visiting. Without a doubt unique in its historical glory. The service is outstanding, one feels like a royal when a guest. Breakfast is great, generous and tasty. The ladies working here are friendly and really go out of their way to make your stay as good as possible. I would highly highly recommend staying here. The area is great for hiking and Lucca and Pisa are approximately an hour drive by car.

By far this is the best Castle/hotel I ever stayed. I had so much fun. This castle is hunted. Didn't see any ghosts, but it was fine by me. The views are amazing. The staff is amazing, professional, and very friendly. The whole experience of staying in a hunted castle was unbelievably amazing. I recommend this place 100% Thank you so much. Esperienza bellissima. Location incantevole e molto suggestiva. Il castello e tenuto molto bene. Giulia, Nicola, e Adina, che lavorano li dentro sono molto gentili, professionale, e ben preparate. Anche la colazione e carina. Il tour e molto interessante e viene spiegato bene. Unica pecca non abbiamo visto i fantasmi Grazie mille ragazzi
