Casa Mathilda | Barcelona

Very happy to have found this place. We had a wonderful 3-night stay here. The team is extremely welcoming and helpful. The common areas and room were very clean and well appointed; a very comfortable place to return to after long days in the city. The location for us couldn't be beat - central to multiple metro lines, walkable neighborhood, tons of great eateries nearby, just far enough away from the mega touristy traffic areas (but easy to walk or metro to if that's what you're looking for). What a lovely place - we'll be back.

My wife and I loved our 8 night stay at Casa Mathilda. The location is ideal, great neighborhood, easy walk to most of Barcelona's attractions. The room, the bed, the shower were all great. The terrace is a very nice place for mornings and evenings. The room refrigerator was an unexpected bonus.

Our second stay at Casa Matilda and we loved it just as much. Once again we booked a deluxe room with direct terrace access - a lovely space to rest after a long journey. ||As always the staff were warm, welcoming and friendly.||For us Casa Matilda is ideally located.-.walking distance to local bus routes and / or attractions but I the -suburbs' so quieter. Plenty of great local eateries or local corner shops if you need anything.

Small boutique hotel that provides everything you need. The staff who run it are lovely and welcome you with a smile. The room is clean and the shower is probably the best one I have ever had… great water pressure! Location is great if you don’t mind a bit of walking. It takes around 20 minutes to get to the Gothic Quarter and Sagrada Familia.

This is the quietest guest house (not a hotel) that we have ever experienced. Warmly welcomed, provided with early breakfast by Patricia when we had an early planned tour, facilities were clean and basic. No wash cloths or tissues. But things fell apart on the weekend...||No early breakfast for our departure, Nespresso machine malfunctioned for 2nd time. Our pre-ordered 8 am taxi never arrived, so we raced to the main street to flag one on our own and arrived at our train 2 minutes before its departure. The ladies did not answer the phone when we called for help. Too much stress due to incompetent service....||We waited 10 minutes extra for their car, when empty taxis were abundant before that. Our remaining vacation could easily have been ruined. ||Wanted to love this experience (thank you Patricia) but wouldn't risk a repeat stay.

We were so happy to have found Casa Mathilda. Patricia and Sofia were so helpful and hospitable. The location is excellent in terms of Gaudi and metro and transport access. We had a terrace room which was really quiet and I would recommend these. The rooms are very comfortable.

Nice place to stay. Had good atmosphere and was a restful place. At times room smelt a little. Central Barcelona in get has a slight sewage smell, which had over taken the room. The staff were able to resolve the issue.

Casa Mathilda is in the perfect location. You are within walking distance of 2 Gaudi houses and the La Sagrada Famila. It has a totally different feel than the Las Rambles neighborhood. The staff here was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable enough. The terrace has some shade and is a nice place to relax after you arrive. It is located on the first floor (2nd floor for the Americans). There is an elevator but don't expect to fit 2 people and a ton of luggage in it. It is an old vintage wooden elevator with pull closed doors. You can send your luggage up and walk the 26 stairs to the hotel. There is a vending machine where you can get coffee pods, beer, juice and snacks. You can also use the water machine to fill your water bottles for a day of exploring. Casa Mathilda was able to accommodate for a Gluten Free breakfast with prior knowledge. They have a separate toaster for their Gluten Free breads.
