"A foliage-filled hotel that marries contemporary minimalism with historic colonial architecture, featuring a lush courtyard café serving artisanal coffee and light bites. Rooms are calmly appointed with locally crafted decor, neutral palettes, polished concrete floors, and wooden accents that emphasize serenity. The building itself dates back to the early colonial era (built in 1529) and originally served as a parish, giving the stay a deep sense of historical context while remaining conveniently located in the city center." - Austa Somvichian-Clausen

"Newly renovated and expanded Casa Antoineta offers an impressive mix of on-site amenities for a nine-room boutique hotel, which make it a favorite of locals and visitors alike. There’s Muss Cafe, the hotel’s first floor specialty coffee shop, and Amá, the third-story bar and cafe located on one of the city’s most stunning rooftops—not to mention the chic rooms and wonderful staff."

"There doesn’t have to be a trade-off between historical atmosphere and contemporary boutique hospitality — the tiny nine-room Casa Antonieta, in the historic center of Oaxaca City, offers an abundance of both. It’s set in a colonial-style building that dates back to 1529, old even by local standards, and while its original architecture is proudly displayed, its rooms effortlessly mix weathered stone walls with contemporary furniture and artworks, locally made crafts, and luxe, modern hotel comforts." - Tablet Hotels
"Set in Oaxaca’s oldest building—the 1500s San Pablo convent later converted into a 19th-century mansion—this intimate five‑star hotel feels like a verdant, historic oasis a block from the Zócalo. An open-air central courtyard overflowing with greenery floods the property with sunlight, humidity, or the drama of an afternoon storm, creating a soft, buzzing atmosphere where remote workers, friends, and business meetings mingle. Rooms are thoughtfully appointed (nine total); a typical ground-floor standard opens to the lobby and courtyard, offering roughly 375 sq ft, a king bed, raw floors, ecru clay-plaster walls, Zapotec rugs from Teotitlán del Valle, handmade rattan headboards, beaded pendant lamps, macuil wood accents and small handcrafted details, plus amenities like yoga mats, bathrobes and slippers. The rooftop terrace and on-site wine bar/restaurant provide a relaxed, all‑day setting with a curated playlist—ideal for laptop work, slow breakfasts, or sipping a mezcal margarita at sunset—and a tiny shop stocks local handmade homewares and ceramics. Downstairs a cafe offers strong cold brew, tea and gluten‑free pastries. Rates start around $280/night; Oaxaca International Airport (OAX) is the closest airport."
Wonderful hotel. Historical building beautifully decorated in bedrooms and communal spaces. Great cafe. Most of all the staff are so welcoming. It feels like your luxurious home during your stay in Oaxaca. Nearby we had the best tacos and craft beer at Tierra Blanca Cerveca, and wonderful meals at Brio Cocina Local and Labo Fermento.

We absolutely loved this high end but small hotel. My wife and I spent three nights here Oct 20 to 23rd. We moved over to this lovely boutique hotel after spending our first two nights in Oaxaca at a "5 star" hotel. We much preferred Casa Antonieta. We found Bernice and David, who manned the "front desk" and acted in a duel capacity as concierges, just fantastic. They are the nicest and most responsive folks. We loved the MUSS CAFE which was located about 30 yards across the lobby from our room located on the ground floor (loved this room!) This little coffee shop served great espresso in the morning and wonderful small breakfasts. Most of the servers at the MUSS were friendly and nice. Casa Antonieta is centrally located and completely safe. Its nice to stay in a hotel where you are greeted with a smile and they know your name. Rooms were clean, large and great. When in Oaxaca, this is now our "go to hotel"

We loved our experience at Casa Antonieta. The hotel is the exact kind of hotels we like - boutique, unique and charming space, great ambiance and service. Everyone we interacted at the hotel was friendly and helpful, from reception, to the cafe, the lounge, etc. The rooms are comfortable and decent sized. Bathroom is actually quite roomy. Overall, a great experience.

Casa Antonieta was the perfect place for our first visit to Oaxaca. The whole hotel and room was so beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. Muss Cafe on the ground level had great coffee and pastries and Ama restaurant on the roof top was excellent for lunch and post dinner drinks. The location was convenient with most everything within walking distance. I highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Oaxaca.

It was an amazing stay for us at Casa Antonieta. This intimate boutique hotel with amazing service and staff would be my top recommendation for your stay in Oaxaca. The spacious room, comfortable bed and quiet privacy kept us rested nightly. The cafe and rooftop restaurant was conveniently accessible and delightful. The center location is perfect to many restaurants, shops, cathedrals and parks. Whatever your needs and wishes, Casa Antonieta will work very hard to assist you. Communication was exceptional with the entire staff. We did not lack for anything! Gracias

This hotel was magical! If a hotel could have a heart, it would be this one. The location is central to all you want to walk and explore, the rooms are spotless and curated to feel luxurious, but with a soul of Oaxaca. The staff were warm and helpful and the food was diving! I cannot recommend it any more.

We came to Casa Antonieta for our honeymoon and it was perfect! The house, which we found out used to be a convent, is gorgeous. From open courtyard downstairs, to the rooms, to the upstairs patio where we were served breakfast every morning - I couldn't imagine a better place in Oaxaca. The staff were all so sweet and we enjoyed chatting and laughing with them. It's a sign that a place is well managed when the people working there are happy, and that is doubtless the case at Casa Antonieta.
The location was also perfect. Right out the door is the central square where parades circle through every day, as well as dancing in the streets every night. There are many amazing restaurants and shops with artisanal items in walking distance. We spent four days in honeymoon heaven wandering between the Casa and the streets.

This charming hotel was an excellent location for family traveling together as our party booked the whole premises. The cafe is excellent for coffee, cocktails and simple plates that can be enjoyed in the cool courtyard or the third floor terrace. The concierge, David, was especially helpful with any request. For a second trip, we would choose to be closer to the Church of Santo Domingo or the barrio of Jalatlaca, but for a first visit, it was great.
