Carl’s Drive-In

Carl’s is an institution and if you love burgers and root beer then Carl’s is not to be missed. The burger I had was perfectly cooked and had crispy edges and juicy in the center. We arrived at 1:15pm and waited 20 min to sit down and worth the wait.

I’ve had great meals around the world in iconic places, Michelin Star too. This is pure joy.

Good was great. Staff was very nice. Atmosphere is very cute. But...Tiny portions. Burgers are small. Onion rings were small and there were 7-8 in an order. So order more than you think you need. Also their "make it in house" root beer is just IBC. Making it in house is just combining soda with syrup like every fountain drink ever.

This is a classic drive-in restaurant. If you need a great burger, a fried hotdog, or some chili you should stop by. Everything was delicious. The root beer was good. The service was fast and friendly. My wife and mother both enjoyed. I will certainly come again.

I met the new owner, a super cool guy. I am also happy to report that the place hasn't changed one bit, the burgers and onion rings are still as delicious as ever. The place was packed with people, standing up eating against the outside windows. This is the hole in the wall, where everyone in there knows your name (and it isn't a Cheers Episode).... The chilli looked like it always has, and they were slanging Root beer ice cream floats like they were going out of style!

I've lived in STL for almost 30 years and my son took me to Carl's for the first time. A cheeseburger, fries, and a root beer never tasted better. It was soooo good! I should've gotten a small root beer because the large is LARGE! The staff is so nice and willing to get anything you need. Can't wait to go back!

If your looking for a hands down great hidden gem this is it. The burgers are great and everyone has to have a Carl's burger at least once. So good!!! It's a step back in time to the diner style burger days, they get cooked right in front of you. One thing you absolutely have to get is a root beer, it's absolutely the best and pair's perfect with a burger. The staff is great and they are always ready to get you in and out, I stop by any time I'm in the area and am never disappointed.

Carl’s is Literally the “Cheers” (tv show) of Burger joints! It’s a Wonderful Cozy Quaint little place that is worth every mile to get to from wherever you are coming from or going to! If you are in the St.Louis area & Love Burgers & a welcoming environment then Do yourself a Solid & come here, You won’t be Disappointed whatsoever! The Root beer is also Fantastic & a Family Recipe passed down. I absolutely 100% recommend & my only Regret is not getting some more burgers for my road trip! Thank you Carl’s the experience was memorable & Cherished & Definitely Not my last time coming to visit!
