Cantina

As you come through the dirt path or down the rocky steps of Kastro, on a small cliff overlooking the sea sits a quaint restaurant called Cantina. Spacious dining with a cultivating design, from the plates to the tables, to the chairs, and the perfect ocean breeze. Cantina offers by far the most unique dining experience you can find on the island, with exceptional dishes, ingredients, and staff. Excellent wine pairings done by a great sommelier, you unlock another level of taste that you may not have known you could enjoy. I implore you to make reservations in advance and when actually dining thoroughly reading through the menu as it is almost always different with locally sourced ingredients daily.

We scored a reservation and were very excited to dine at Cantina but the service was sub par. We waited 15 minutes for the wine server to take out order, the menus also took 15 mins to arrive. The male waiter was dismissive of our questions when describing the concept. We were never offered a second glass of wine. Food came out of the kitchen while the dirty empty plates sat in front of us. We felt neglected even though we had mentioned it was my sister’s birthday. In the end, a disappointing experience. The food was great but for these prices, you expect similar service.

Overpriced for the quality of food it offers. 70€ per person for the sharing menu is expensive for the quality of food, service, and the atmosphere we were offered. I honestly can't single out the best plate as all of them were average, with the exception of the smoked pork chop and the mackerel, which was by far the worst, and we could not eat. The building outside needs some renovation. If you go there before the sun sets, you can see it is not properly maintained. There are definitely other gourmet seafood restaurants in Sifnos you can eat better paying this same price per person. The evaluation is made in good faith and is only intended to help the owners increase the quality bar to meet the price rate since we believe this restau has the potential.

Food was excellent, service was very professional but in a cozy and friendly way, the atmosphere and location are super unique and stunning. Would definitely come back and recommend to anyone who is visiting Sifnos.

We had dinner here and we loved it! The dishes are really well thought and they add a new twist to all the dishes, for instance we had gyros but with fish which was quite smart! The portions are ok and the atmosphere is just incredible, right by the sea! Prices are expensive, but in my opinion it is totally worth it.

One of the best restaurants in Sifnos. The chef, Mr Samoilis can always surprise you with his amazing creations. The location is stunning, the service is perfect, the environment unique and the food absolutely mind-blowing. Zero-waste policy and best quality ingredients on your plate. The personnel is super friendly, kind and hospitable. Trust their recommendations and enjoy the amazing wine list of this place!

The cost/value ratio, for me, is a little off. Very pricey and the food was good, but not as stellar as it should be for the price, vibe, setup of the restaurant. Service was okay, not great but definitely not bad. Again, the quality of the service considering the price and experience they are aiming to create was just a bit incongruent. Overall, it still was a nice dining experience and a very unique situation. I just saw it as a place whose potential has not quite peaked yet.
