"Can Framis is the latest project of the prestigious Fundació Vila Casas, founded by Antoni Vila Casas, owner of one of the largest private art collections in Catalonia. This space is dedicated to promoting the work of some of the most famous contemporary Catalan artists. The project had the objective of rehabilitating old factory buildings and creating a space of contrasts: here you will find lime mortar that blends with the existing stonework and merges with the exposed concrete of the new buildings. The combination of elements creates an open, aery space of architectural and cultural interest. They also offer an educational program to bring children of all ages closer to contemporary art." - Little Buddha
"It's hard not to get lured in by Catalan culture when in Barcelona, and for those who want to go a little deeper there's the Can Framis which shows some of the greatest local contemporary artists from the last 60 years. The real draw here, though, is the building itself and its surrounding green spaces by local Catalan (of course) architect Jordi Badia. There's something incredibly serene about the hulking, semi-industrial space in this quiet old neighborhood."

"Barcelona's museum of contemporary Catalan art is a concrete-and-glass urban-industrial building in the heart of Poblenou, a neighborhood that’s steadily turning disused factories into interesting spaces. The museum’s point of difference is that every artist is either Catalan born or lives in Catalunya. There are more than 300 works from the 1960s to today, with dedicated spaces for each artists in a range of styles and media, from 3D collage to huge canvases to sculpture." - Gemma Askham
