Calheta Green

Let’s start by saying that this place is phenomenal. From the moment we walked in, the staff were very friendly, happy for us to sit where ever we wanted and move the furniture to get a better view of the amazing ocean views. The menu has lots of local dishes and a large variety of grilled meats. Lots of different wines and some really cool craft beers. I got a milkshake passion fruit IPA, which sounded like a wild ride, it was super refreshing and paired well with a black americano. I got a t bone steak which was probably the best steak I’ve genuinely ever had, it was well priced, very well seasoned and served exactly how I ordered it. It looked so good I forgot to take a photo, had to jump right in. We got the grilled salmon and spinach side dish. Both were very fresh and tasty. Finished with a tiramisu which was a fun variant, it was made with a ginger/nutmeg flavoured biscuit which really added another level of flavour to the dish. The location is gorgeous, there are hens and a rabbit cage in the large garden that’s in front of the eatery. A friendly cat became our friend also while we waited. Highly recommend this place. It’s easily our favourite place in Madeira!

We had a dinner here. The place atmosphere is good, it is recommended to visit. The food is average but the dessert was better than the other meals so 4 star from our side.

After a good hiking having lunch at Calheta Green was a bliss…. Pedro our host was very friendly , warm and courteous…… good food and service… should try chicken skewers - very soft and juicy…

We visited here October last year and it was lovely. It was only by chance we found it but when we go back to Madeira this year we will be visiting again. The food was lovely, the staff were great and the atmosphere was idyllic.

It was a bit of a disappointment. The portion of cod was huge but it was chewy and soaked in olive oil, which was the only thing you could taste. The empanadas were noce but definitely the food wasn't anything special considering the quite high price.

Loved it! Great food and excellent service! We just ordered too much 😅 I usually don’t like fries, but these were pretty good. The waiter somehow misunderstood my partners order and brought steak instead of salmon, but offered free dessert as compensation which was really nice. The restaurant had a cool vibe ☺️ We got there late at 8pm after a hike and there weren’t many customers. It was the perfect ending for a lovely day.

We got served by Igor, very friendly guy! The starters were amazing. For main we got sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection. Very good experience overall. Looking forward to our next visit

We had a lovely evening but never saw the great views as it was tipping down with rain. Lots of traditional dishes, the chicken skewer I had was excellent and the others enjoyed the salmon salad and beef skewers. The starters and puddings were also great! The portion sizes were generous and the prices were very fair for such well cooked food. The staff were friendly and helpful and the menu had English descriptions which was useful.
