"Café Schwarzenberg, Vienna Lovers of Vienna’s homegrown early-20th-century Wiener Werkstätte design style will want to visit the Café Schwarzenberg: It was the preferred haunt of Josef Hoffmann. The illustrious architect who cofounded the Werkstätte drafted many ideas there that came to fruition. Opened on the Ringstrasse in 1861, the café takes its name from the nearby square that is itself named for the Prince of Schwarzenberg, a prominent Austrian field marshal in the Napoleonic wars. Guests are treated to huge vaulted windows under high ceilings and those who sit outside on the terrace enjoy views of the illuminated Karlskirche dome while they sip their Einspänner coffee with its dab of whipped cream on top."

I recently had the pleasure of dining here, and I must say it was an incredible experience! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere (Especially the waiter didi). The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we felt comfortable throughout our meal.

Google
You have to wait in line to get in, and we were asked if we had a reservation, which we found odd as we tried to make one and were told it wasn't possible. Food and cakes were good, so no complaints. Cozy place but very loud - could hardly hear what people at my table was talking about and no toilet paper in the ladies.

A bit of tweak to make classic Viennese pastries more interesting. Super nice set of breakfast menus. In a decent classic ambient. I did have to queue to get in

Elliot Denis

Google
Very good cafe with rich history. We waited like 10 minutes outside and it was worth it. The service was very good, it was quick, courteous and efficient. Had the strudel and it was very good.

Google
This cafe is an absolute delight! My friend and I had an incredible brunch that exceeded all expectations. The atmosphere was wonderfully calm, enhanced by live music, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. We ordered the Ei Benedict and Ei Benedict Royal, and both were fantastic—soft, perfectly poached eggs with just the right amount of Hollandaise sauce. Each dish was well-balanced and flavorful. For dessert, we had the apricot jam crepes, which were equally delicious. I highly recommend this place for a perfect breakfast experience!

Google
Our experience was excellent. We were there for breakfast and had a wonderful waitress. The food was first class as was the coffee and cakes. I had a green smoothie with scrambled eggs and sausage. Delicious. I went for the hot chocolate and wasn't disappointed.

Google
We went here to experience a (stereo)typical Viennese Coffeehouse, including apple strudel and whipped cream in coffee 😜 We felt that it provided that experience. Short queue to get in, but once inside it was all very good. Lovely room, efficient staff, tasty food and drinks.

I stopped by for a minute to get something to eat. I chose a burger. In general, the burger was tasty and juicy, the only question is about the cutlet itself - thin and not juicy, as if made of foam rubber. It was like a McDonald's patty, thin and as if it had been made a long time ago in another place and frozen. In general, the impressions are good.

Yelp
A good place to go to for breakfast in Vienna. The cafe itself is very beautiful. The food and coffee was very good as well.

Alfredo E.

Yelp
Welcome to classic Viena. Servicing since 1861... you can easily tell by the old-school atmosphere. We were referred by the hotel's concierge. They catered to our request for decaf and low-fat milk in our latte. They brought a delicious burger that was visually exciting as well as very tasty. We stumbled upon this beautiful old cafe while trying to get conformable with the city. We were met by a tuxedo'd server, who brought us coffee, and offered some pastries. The prices are reasonable. Great for lunch but better for breakfast.

Tom T.

Yelp
We really loved this place. The ambiance is kinda throw back style where you feel like you're in a period piece. Staff was friendly and the schnitzel was one of the best we had in Vienna. The goulash and sausages here were both excellent and be sure to order the fresh horseradish. It's not at all like the nasal passage clearing stuff we get back in the U.S. The ground veal dish was the easy winner of the meal though. Tender and flavorful. The desserts were very typically Viennese in that they were delicate and not too sweet.

Masanori D.

Yelp
I tried Café Schwarzenberg upon Yelp friend, Celeste's recommendation. I really liked the old-school atmosphere and service. The service was very good as well. There are so many café to choose from in Vienna, but Café Schwarzenberg does not disappoint!

Yelp
Looking for a breakfast spot after our early tour of the Opera House, this spot came up and it did the job. Nothing too spectacular, but we could walk in and order right away which was a plus, when trying to grab a bite between sight seeing. Scrambled Eggs with Sacher Sausage - 4 stars. Hot dogs mixed in scrambled eggs? Why not. This would be laughed at in the southern USA as something a poor college student might eat on a Sunday morning with a hangover, but throw around some chives and serve it in a nice looking Viennese cafe, and nobody can judge. Eggs needed a bit of salt, and like European scrambled eggs were on the loose side, compared to the US. Eggs Benedict - 4 stars. Nice sliced ham off the bone with a poached egg. Looked a little prettier than it actually tasted...that was kind of true about most of the food here. Eggs and crisp bacon - 3 stars. Nothing special. Bacon was sliced very thin and was more chewy than crisp. Apple Strudel - 3.5 stars. Not very sweet. Served warm with custard, cranberry, and non sweetened (or very lightly) fresh whip creme. Kaiserschmarrn - 3.5 stars. Seeing this photo is what brought me here...in the US that looks like a breakfast dish, but it's a dessert in Vienna. Like a chopped up French toast pancake with powdered sugar and berry compote. Again not very sweet. Perhaps my American sweet tooth palate isn't the same as Vienna, so I was a little disappointed. So in closing the photos look a bit better than the food actually was. But it was a nice cafe, and I see they sometimes have live jazz, so that's always a good thing.

Yelp
We stopped in for a late breakfast and were able to sit outside. The food was delicious and the service was good.

Simon W.

Yelp
Good service in an old-world atmosphere from bow-tied waiters, who'll bring you a variety of Austrian favourites, savoury or sweet. High points include a beef goulash whose swarthy richness could rightfully be described as nearly erotic in its intensity., a very serviceable Wiener schnitzel, cakes (of course) and some very nice fancy coffees. I recommend the Espresso Correcto ( essentially strong black coffee with a hefty slug of grappa).

John M.

Yelp
I had to have another veal Wiener schnitzel! It was delicious and big. The steamed potatoes were good but instead I should have tried the potato salad. It was excellent. Creamy vinaigrette without the cream. Service was good. Only bad part was someone lit up a cigarette in the dining room as we had just finished. They were reminded that it was a no smoking establishment but it ruined my appetite for dessert. Will return.

Susan S.

Yelp
Great breakfast huge omelettes. Good service ate outside . Good place for people watching. Good service

Yelp
The soup, main dish and dessert is absolutely good. Wally, who took our orders made excellent recommendations. The ambiance is nostalgic that will take you back in time.

Yelp
We are visiting from Atlanta and have had the pleasure of being served by Adam Sandler (look alike). The Apple strudel is wonderfully prepared and the service very professional and helpful. We had a great time. An iconic Cafe!!

karina k.

Yelp
Great service, and nice people, great food, light and healthy options, good coffee, clean restaurant, comfortable booth seating also, staff speak English to help tourists...and good foot traffic with locals and tourists. And great delicate and tasty desserts. Loved the food and bathrooms are very clean and beautiful.

Hassan S.

Yelp
Good food with reasonable prices. I'd you want a good seat then it's best to make a reservation. The portions are very small so keep that in mind. The Apple strudel was amazing and highly recommend. Service was good as well.

Anjlica D.

Yelp
Perfect location! At the hop on hop off pickup dropoff location. The apple strudel is out of this world. So is the coffee with or without liqueur. Service was great. All the seats have the street view.

Renette S.

Yelp
Beautiful cafe with a wonderful vibe. We were lucky to get seats. We had coffee and hot chocolate: both excellent. Would love to come back for a meal.

michael b.

Yelp
Sitting on outside cafe in Vienna was just like I pictured it, food was perfect and coffee amazing. I had eggs and croissant and my son had the best Melange coffee and Apple Strudel, it could not have been more amazing, staff was very friendly as well.

Tod B.

Yelp
We stopped in this classic old Viennese bistro spontaneously during a day of touring around the city, and were so happy we did! The waiters are formal yet charming, and it has a lively and elegant cafe atmosphere. Our seats looked out the window onto the Ringstrasse- great for taking in the sights of this beautiful city! We had a beef broth soup which was very flavorful, delicious Vienna sausages with mustard, and perhaps the highlight was the warm apple strudel with plentiful vanilla sauce - a must!

Aaron L.

Yelp
This place's take on local food just hits the spot. We came late at after a concert, waiters are open arms welcoming us in to eat. Really good food and service, I didn't understand the lack of stars... feels like really petty revenge reviews and has nothing to do with essence of this place - homestyle local flavors. Give it a try, won't regret it!

Lauren S.

Yelp
We came with a party of ten, had tried to make a reservation and call ahead but they would not answer the phone. Upon arrival, they sat us at three separate tables despite the clear ability to accommodate our larger party size. Another patron instead offered to give up his table of 6 (he was a party of 3) to allow us more space. The food for 4 of us came out 30 minutes before the rest of the food. It was interesting because my friend's dish came with a salad and she did not want it so while I was eating it, the waiter came over, took it from me, and gave it back to her. We overheard him say to a husband trying to feed his wife a french fry, and the waiter yelled at them to not share food. It is one thing to order one dish for two people, but this was clearly not the case. The food was mediocre at best and the portion sizes were way smaller than expected. The waiter was unfriendly, cold, and clearly irritated by us. His service was incredibly slow (and we believe this may be the same waiter in other reviews) and despite our attempts to get his attention, he clearly ignored us. I would not recommend coming here. I agree with the previous reviews, the food can be found at any other Viennese cafe, and the waiters clearly are prejudiced against tourists, despite our ability to speak German and having come with a German family.

Eric B.

Yelp
The Konzert Cafe Schwarzenberg was our first introduction to the Vienna coffee house scene. Gayle and I had just arrived in Vienna, and after checking into our Hotel walked the few blocks over. We enjoyed the elegance of the place, especially the architecture and the formally dressed waiters. There's also some interesting history to this place including a post-WWII interlude where occupying Soviet solders pretty much trashed the place. Our coffee was strong and our tortes were tasty. It was also a great opportunity to hang out and relax after a long day's travel.

Rod V.

Yelp
Hubs and I had a lite breakfast here on the recommendation of the concierge at our hotel, as we had some time to kill before our room would be ready for check in. We were told it was one of those traditional Austrian coffee houses that embraced the country's coffee culture. It didn't disappoint. Have to admit being pretty tired and jet lagged when we stumbled into this place. We quickly both honed in on the salmon plate, with a side of toast, and we both also ordered our own teapots of black tea (yeah, I know, not coffee...‍). The portions were generous and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Cafe was in a decent location with ample seating and with its copious dark wood, had a very old world charm to it.

Nela S.

Yelp
Really love to be coming to this place with friends either for coffee or a glass of wine or some of their delicious dessert. I am always amazed by the atmosphere that this place has. It makes you completely forget about all the stress outside and lets you enjoy some nice moments with your cup of coffee :)

Brian M.

Yelp
All the class of old world Venice with 60% less tourists than the Sacher Café. Although we only stopped here for coffee and cake, I was very impressed. From the hammered brass topped tables to the tiled arched ceilings, I couldn't stop staring. Service was impeccable. I appreciate that the very professional waiter kept it all in German. That show either that he was saving me the embarrassment or my restaurant German is sufficient. Everything from the sweets case looked delicatable. I had a lovely piece of Apfelkuchen along with a fine Franziskanner. I learned a valuable lesson during my trip to Vienna; The world would be a better place if everything came with a large dollop of Schlagobers. Do yourself a favor while in Vienna, skip the more touristy spots and be sure to swing in here. The full menu looked great. Just leave your NASCAR jacket at home and wear something nice.

JeffandPriscilla O.

Yelp
Cafe Schwarzenberg was recommended as a perfect example of old world style in Vienna. The recommendation could not have been more correct. From the moment we entered the cafe, it felt as if we had stepped back to the early 1900's. The timeless elegance of the interior included lots of wood, brass and leather appointments. The staff was all well-dressed and extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and more. For breakfast we both ordered Knusprig gebratener Speck mit Eierspeis oder Spiegelei (crispy bacon with scrambled eggs), Wiener Frühstückskipferl (Viennese breakfast croissant) and coffee. The service was flawless and the food was a delight. Our waiter fussed over every detail and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a wonderful meal and a great way to experience a little old world elegance.

Yelp
This became, somewhat unexpectedly, our regular place in Vienna. It started out as a convenient location, right on the Ringstraß and close to our tourist destinations. But then it became so much more. *cue dramatic soundtrack* But really: not the usual artist cafe in Vienna, but an establishment with a long history, frequented by Hoffman the furniture designer. It's a Viennese cafe, for sure, and serves fairly reasonably priced breakfast options. We went on the first day before beginning a day of museum visits. My sister and I both got the Viennese breakfast, which comes with a little jar of Stadt apricot jam (famous), croissant, homemade roll, butter, and a soft boiled egg in an egg holder (you eat it by cracking off the top bit of shell and then spooning it out). It also comes with coffee, tea, or hot chocolate. The amount of food for €8,70 was good. Then, we each added a fresh juice. The Apple juice is awesome. I highly recommend it. I didn't try the orange juice but my sister enjoyed it. Our waiter was lovely. The next morning, we tried going somewhere else but wound up back at Schwarzenberg because other places let us down by being closed or requiring reservations (this is a pattern). This time, we got the Schwarzenberg breakfast. Comes with roll (pre-buttered), two soft-boiled eggs (peeled for you and placed in a small glass bowl), and coffee/tea/HC. My sister added an order of muesli (basically, European granola, popular in Austria and Germany) and yogurt. The yogurt is so natural that it doesn't taste at all like added sugar which you don't know is there until it's not. It was too tangy for me, but again, she liked it. I got another Apple juice and happily drank it. That evening, we returned after searching in vain for open cafes. Turns out, Epiphany is a big deal... so we came in from the freezing cold and ordered 2 hot chocolates an an apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce. It was amazing. Also, I used my bare bones German and felt good about it. Love this place. Thankful it exists.

Yelp
My observations from visiting this morning... - The bread was fresh and nice. Like. - The coffee was slightly burnt and had a few grounds in it. No thanks. - The ambiance was straight-on, and the waiter was attentive while also maintaining some of that famous Schwarzenberg snobbery. I'll probably go back-- once I saw all the different breakfasts other people ordered (there wasn't a breakfast menu at my table), it made me want to try all of them! They also have fresh orange and carrot juices, plus a Vital breakfast with müsli, yogurt, fruit, and whole grain toast. Yum!

Erica P.

Yelp
Delightful! Waiters dressed in formal attire, speedy service, clean, and classic Vienna! I had the yogurt with wild berries - fresh, delicious, and it tasted so clean! Sit down (self-seating), hop onto their free WiFi, and have yourself a nice cup of classic Viennese coffee! Enjoy!

Joanna T.

Yelp
I may have liked Café Schwarzenberg "best" of the cafes we tried in Vienna. Sure, it's still pretty touristy but there were plenty of locals to be seen when we visited - mostly well dressed finance types. The interior is elegant and classic without being old-fashioned. Another bonus is no smoking! My husband went with the traditional apple strudel (mit schlagobers, naturally) and a mélange and I chose hot chocolate and a slice of Esterhazy torte from the pastry case. It was very difficult to pick just one thing as their selections were gorgeous. My cake was very tasty, though I didn't love the layer of too-sweet icing on top. I picked it off halfway through and really enjoyed the hazelnut-buttercreme torte on its own. I also had the best hot chocolate of our trip here - super, super creamy. Service was what I expected - cordial, brisk and very efficient. Café Schwarzenberg would be a great stop pre/post theater or whenever you need a cake & coffee fix.

Katerina P.

Yelp
I enjoyed the cake, especially the tiny Gustav klimt picture printed on top. Anywhere I can see famous works of art and then eat them is going to be hard to give anything but a good review for. Having already had enough coffee that day, we went for the hot chocolate. Truly delicious. I think on reflection the desserts were better at Cafe Central however that's a very high standard to hit. It's a good place to sit and watch the world go by if you get seated in a window booth. The waiter was abrupt but polite and seemed mildly amused by my attempt to order in German.

De A.

Yelp
Visit this place for the history and have a coffee. Don't mind the staff too much, they're not the most kind ones around.

Berke E.

Yelp
Location: 4,5 Ambiance: 4,5 Welcoming: 4 Service: 4,5 Hygiene: 4 Food: 4 Drinks: 4 Bathrooms: 4 Value for money: 4 A high quality traditional Viennese cafe with very good service and warm ambiance. Definitely a must-go!

Sam H.

Yelp
We had breakfast here this morning. I ordered the Viennese breakfast and my wife had the mueslik. My breakfast consisted if a roll, croissant, soft egg and breakfast coffee. Overall, the bread and coffee were okay - nothing special. My wife said her mueslik was good Service was tidy and prompt.

Ritu W.

Yelp
The place is good if u wanna try the traditional Viennese breakfast, pastries etc. I would recommend that u look at the breakfast menu and the other menu card before making up your mind. At least that's what we did. That's because the set menu may include items that u won't really want to eat. Veggie Omelette was about average but the spinach strudel was awesome. And We ordered mixed juice of orange and carrots. Juice was so organic and tasty that I want to have one right now. And lastly, I tried chocolate cream pastry which was quite good. The place has a very relaxed environment, u will see a lot of people reading newspapers, and maybe someone with their dog seated comfortably on the floor. Or families or couples enjoying a hearty breakfast. It's a beautiful restaurant with a very friendly staff.

Kurt G.

Yelp
I will never forget Café Schwarzenberg, since this is where i learned what a "soft boiled egg" was. As it happens, it is not wise to jam a fork into the side of one of these guys as it is perched on its candlestick thing in the middle of the your plate, especially if you have a limited amount of shirts to change into, and you are trying hard not to fall into the "idiot american" sterotype on your first day in Vienna. Spoiler alert: the runnyness is still very much in there, and the runnyness will project outward following the direction in which you have inserted your fork. I would like to chalk this off to not being able to read the menu properly in german, or just my general excitement and aloofness as a result of being in Vienna for the first time, but the truth is, i just didnt give much thought that there was probably a reason why "soft" has a different name than "hard" boiled, and i did not think too much of what this implied. Regardless, this was a really amazing place to sit down and have a coffee and a pastry. Take your favorite coffeehouse in America, and this blows in out of the water easily. Granted, it's not the same feel as your wifi enabled, school books all over the table american coffee house... but as Vienna is the birthplace of the coffee house, ill give them some credit as to their setup. The service is very European (ie dont plan on getting the bill until youve clearly asked), but in Europe, you may want to come to expect this I've learned. A coffeehouse is a must do in Vienna, and this Schwarzenberg is certainly a good bet.

Amy P.

Yelp
Decent prawn salad, odd Viennese tidbit platter but good, and flavorful grilled pork dish. And best of all beer. We were tired from long hot walk and this place looked good. Waiter was nice and also fast. We had lemonade beer which was yummy without too much alcohol. Can see some monuments and domed and ornate buildings from our outside seats. This place was just what we needed. It's a busy street corner but good place to watch people. Not cheap but not expensive either. Other places nearby were either fast food or more expensive. Cheers, Amy

Max F.

Yelp
First, the manager told a group of Canadians to leave because a young man was holding the door open too long for a women on crutches. Who might have been his mother. Then the servers were extremely agressive and rude when we asked question about the different dishes on the menu. The rest of the meal they were very unresponsive to any request for more water or to pay. I believe it was because we are English speakers. They were much more congenial to the German-speaking couple next to us. Finally this nice couple asked the waiter for water for us. DO NOT GO TO THIS CAFE IF YOU DON'T SPEAK GERMAN. The servers are prejudiced against English-speakers.

Xuedi Z.

Yelp
Great food, unfriendly waiter. My friend made a mistake when checked the bill and thought there was something wrong (actually not), so I told the waiter so, waiter said there is nothing wrong and sarcastically said, can you read? We are sorry we made a mistake, but do you have to be sarcastic? Actually we ordered only one coffee, but waiter gave us two, we just gave the extra one back politely, now I wonder should we say "can you hear" back to waiter? Does this happen just because we're Asian tourists?

Michelle M.

Yelp
This place is a staple in Vienna. The servers are only moderately grumpy but the coffee and the kuchen is very good. Not to mention its one of Vienna's most famous coffee houses. Also the ambiance is quite nice.

Rachel Z.

Yelp
Soft boiled egg in porcelain egg cup holder, freshly squeezed orange juice, baskets of pastries with apricot jam on the side, live jazz playing in the background, what's not to love about this place? Okay we got lucky with the live jazz music, they have performances from time to time and we walked in at a good time. The crowd is a mixture of tourists and locals . The ambiance is elegant but relaxing. I like it very much. Tips: - learn how to eat a soft boiled egg from the cup holder before ordering, or simply observe others. - do dress your part even though no dress code is enforced. Anything other than jeans and tshirt is probably fine. Suit jacket is common among gentlemen. - when order coffee by default it's from a pot of regular coffee, but you can ask for espresso instead.

Robin M.

Yelp
Fantastic spot to sit on the patio and watch the world go by. Great selection for breakfast or coffee break. They have a wide range of specialty coffee drinks, and the pastries are fabulous. The eggs are cooked to order and executed well. Staff ranges from gruff and formal to slightly friendly, but they are all very efficient. We went back once a day for the entire stay in Vienna.

Teresa S.

Yelp
This place is located in a very nice area but the waiters are aweful, they are bunch of old farts thinking they are CEO's of a big company, they ignore you, if you ask a question they are obnoxious and rude. Please don't go here because they are lots of places with great service.

Sam L.

Yelp
Beautiful, older restaurant with plenty of elegance and style in the center of Vienna. The waiters are traditional dressed in tuxedo-like outfits and have that air of superiority but with a bit more class and friendliness, maybe it was because I was with a local who favors this cafe. I don't know. I liked it, the air of elegance but in a relaxed manner. It reeked of older Viennese in a good way. I recommend checking it out.

Charlie L.

Yelp
My wife and I went to Cafe Schwarzenberg for breakfast based on the many positive reviews, but left disappointed. Our waiter was MIA; after dropping off our breakfasts; that was the last we saw of him until it came time to pay the bill. The food itself (I ordered a large breakfast) was just OK. Our total bill came to 19.5 euros. Given the indifferent service I rounded it up to 20 euros. Before we left, though, our waiter came over and informed me that a service charge was not included in the bill, so that a tip of 10% would have been expected. I left with a bad taste in my mouth.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I loved this little Cafe while I was in Vienna. I stopped by here twice - once for breakfast and once at night, after seeing an opera, for dessert. I sat outside on both occasions and my waiters were friendly both times. They were also patient with me as I did not speak German (they did speak English). For my breakfast visit, I got the Viennese breakfast. If you choose this option, I would suggest learning how to eat the soft boiled egg beforehand, as I struggled a little bit, and I'm pretty sure I looked silly trying to figure it out haha :p For dessert, I got the homemade cream strudel with vanilla sauce - it was absolutely delicious! Another plus is that the restaurant is not filled with tourists - and the view of the Ringstrasse was quite nice!

Shayan A.

Yelp
I personally wouldn't recommend this place to tourists or people who have limited time in Vienna. I ordered an omelette, coffee, and strudel. The food took some time to make but it was very nice. However the service was terrible, after finishing my meal I had to wait 30 minutes to flag down my waiter to get the bill (30 minutes of empty plates in front of me) when the bill came I saw how the waiter served other foods that we didn't order and billed us. Finally after paying and waiting another 15 minutes for him to collect the money he brought up the gratuity not being included. I give tips based on service provided and given his lack of professionalism I left a small amount, only to hear the waiter swear at me under his breath. Very unprofessional staff serving the same food that can be bought at any other Viennese cafe

Yelp
We went to this cafe last summer and had a decent experience. So so staff, but happy with our breakfast. We were planning on eating here every day for breakfast for a week, because it was close to our hotel and I was able to get a vegan breakfast. What a big mistake to go back. Our first morning (we will NEVER return now), I ordered the same meal as our visit several months ago. When it arrived, it looked like the cereal and fruit included dairy milk. (I later remembered that the previous waiter was helpful enough to make sure I had almond milk after knowing my dietary needs.) I nicely asked the waiter- tall, thin, grayish beard- if it was vegan. All in German, mind you. So, he wasn't offended by my inability to speak the language. He turned bright red and said, "Nein!" very rudely. I kindly asked, if he could bring me one with almond or soy milk, as I'd had this before. Before I could finish, he kept saying "Nein! Nein!" loudly and shaking his head like I'd asked for his firstborn. I stopped talking and turned away. My partner didn't know what had happened as his back was to the waiter. He just knew the 'No' sounded very hostile. Almost scarily so. I was very upset by how nasty the waiter was. I didn't enjoy my food at all. We left as quickly as possible. Of course, no tip. We didn't return another time and never will. I'm assuming all the bad reviews about a particular waiter are about the same one we had. Why is he still there? Why does the restaurant use the same response to all bad reviews? No resolution. It's really too bad, because the restaurant is very pretty. Tourists will still go even knowing how horrible the service is, I guess. Maybe that's why the owner cares less about such abuse by their staff.

Ian L.

Yelp
Service was excellent unfortunately the food wasn't. It was mediocre. We ate at 3pm on a Monday. Our waiter seated us quickly and as Wien seems the be like, service was very professional yet polite. The wiener schnitzel was decent, fried to a golden brown crisp but at €20 represents pretty poor value. The potato side, boiled, was lacklustre . I don't usually order it and thus I think it was overpriced. Sacherwurstel was just sausage and frankly just like a frozen sausage had been warmed up. The apple strudel was good but not rich enough ... It was more like a soggy cake redeemed partially by good sauce Overall its a location trap and foods nothing to shout about.

Immanuel F.

Yelp
The Konzert Café Schwarzenberg is one of Vienna's top-notch coffee houses in which you truly experience the full elegance of Vienna's Coffee House Culture (VCHC) and the charm of the old times in all its glory. The Café Schwarzenberg is located on The Ring encircling the City Center, the famous and glamorous 1st district. It's more a fine dining Café-Restaurant than anything else and so there is an implicit dress code if you want to get proper treatment by the waiters (Herr Ober). You will search in vain for WiFi and plugs as things like these wasn't existing when our dear emperor was still in charge. For sure they have some attitude there but the Café Schwarzenberg is among Vienna's most elegant and traditional coffee houses with imperial and aristocratic flair (atmosphere) to enjoy. This reflects in the prices of the dishes, toasts, sandwiches, tarts, coffees, and teas etc. the Café Schwarzenberg offers to its guests. In other words the prices are in the upper segment for Viennese coffee houses but you get high quality for the eyes and for the taste. Sitting in one of the cute niches I had my Belegtes Brot (Traditional Austrian Sandwich with brown bread, ham, salami, cheese, eggs, pickles, cherry tomato, and parsley). And for the drink I decided to have the at the same time popular and traditional Austrian Herb Lemonade: The Almdudler. And for those of you who ask themselves what this wooden stick is for in the back of the Almdudler. It's the handle of one of the many news papers waiting to be read in this coffee house. And by the way, I really recommend to try my favorite tart at Café Schwarzenberg if you are into pistachio cream covered with marzipan: The Mozart Torte (hint: it's the flamboyant green one in the Tart Showcase what catches your eye on the first moment). Yelp
This cafe was recommended to us as one of the oldest traditional Viennese coffee shops. Sure, it has a feel of an old fashion coffee house. However, food and coffee in my opinion were nothing special. No better no worse than any other place but rather expensive for this kind of food. I guess you are paying for the ambience. This place also did not strike me as very clean - crumbs on the table, flies on the window. It is ok to visit once but I don't think I would return.

Yelp
Schwarzenburg is a very elegant and classy cafe. It is very "Viennese" -- buy that I mean that the waiters put off the prototypical rude charm, and there was a pianist performing. I had the beef goulash and a Viennese coffee, which were both good. Although the goulash came in a pretty small portion. And I couldn't resist the urge to have a warmer apfelstrudel in creme -- which was simply amazing.
