First of all, this rating is for Café Du Monde Mail Order Store and NOT the restaurant across the street. This store sells beignet mix, coffee products, memorabilia and not food. The atmosphere is lively and fun. I went to buy some items for an out of State friend having a New Orleans party. I was never greeted nor even acknowledged the whole time I was there, despite two employees at the counter and two what looked like managers upstairs and a third wandering around. I left buying nothing, good thing they did not waste time with me 😂

Definitely worth standing in a long line. These beignets were so warm, soft and perfectly powdered with sugar. It was a great experience to have when visiting NOLA. We just ate it alone, but I’m sure it’ll go well with some hot cocoa or coffee. It was quite messy to eat, but enjoyable.

1st time trying this place. The donuts were delicious hot and fresh. They give you 3 doughnuts as one order. I didn’t try the coffee I’ll try it next time. Too much bread for me in one sitting. The donuts didn’t fair too well after the cooled off. But if you get them hot and fresh and can eat in one sitting they’re great!

Thé place to go for beignets they say. The beignets are very nice, a bit crispy and plenty, really plenty of powdered sugar. The cafe au lait is okay (coffee and chicory with milk). I like my coffee more coffee-ish. Too much milk for me, but it's a NOLA thing, so I had to try it. PS. They only take cash!

Since this was our first time in NOLA, Cafe du Monde was one of the top spots on our list! My group of friends walked from our nearby lunch spot and was able to find the bustling cafe pretty easily. After arriving there, it wasn't obvious where to stand or where to start in the ordering process, but we realized quickly where the takeout line was on the side of the ordering window. We waited around 15-20 mins total and ordered the 3 beignets to share. Like a lot of other reviews were saying, they were a little denser than what we were used to having before - but they were still delicious, not too sweet, and super craveable! There was a ton of seating on site but we decided to take them to-go to eat at the riverwalk. Altogether a nice experience, and would visit again if I'm back in the city!

I don't care the it's kind of touristy - it's a bucket list restaurant for a number of different reasons and a must stop if you're in the French Quarter visiting New Orleans. They're open late (it used to be 24/7 but I believe that was pre-pandemic) with hot delicious fresh beignets. It can get pretty busy but the service is attentive for how large of a space it is. Also, I highly recommend eating the beignets there as they don't retain their quality in the bag or to-go very well. Their iced coffee is good too! Just remember this establishment is cash only which also means that its a good bargain :)

This is the place everyone says to go for a beignet, so that was our lunch today. An order of three, practically drowning in powdered sugar was enough for us to share. The service is very fast as only beignets, coffees and some fruit juices are offered. The beignets were very good, but I was glad to have a glass of water with all of that sugar.

We had to make a stop here while visiting. There was quite a line but I was shocked how fast we got through it. We waiting about 20 min total. They only take cash, which makes the process super easy. You order and pay once they bring your stuff so you can leave once you're done. I got the iced coffee and of Courtney beignets. I was pretty full after that so it was a great breakfast!

Open 24 hrs. Safe to say we came here everyday on our trip. Take a seat and a server will come up to you OR if looking to Take Out simply go to the side window. Menu is small so once you order they are fast. The beignets come in 3 and they are warm pillowy dough goodness covered in heaps of powdered sugar. These are only good when eaten on the spot so they warm and soft. Actually not too sweet, I think any donut is sweeter than a beignet. For drinks they have iced/hot coffee or lattes. Sadly this OG location does not have the iced mocha on the menu which was is sad but you can get one at the location in the airport. PS- Will get powered sugar every where :)

You can't visit NOLA without stopping at the original Cafe Du Monde! In my opinion it is worth the hype. The beignets were warm, fluffy and airy. I tried a few other places and Cafe Du Monde definitely has the better beignets (I personally don't like them too doughy and these were perfect!) Be prepared to get sugar all over yourself- they are a powdery mess! I tried the Cafe Au Latte as well, and that was ok- didn't really care for it (I like my coffee strong and this isn't that) However it did pair well and help wash down the sugar of the beignets. I went later in the afternoon and did not have an issue finding a table to sit. It gets busy due to the popularity however the waiters are great and speedy! Heads Up: Cash only, come prepared. Enchanting little place in the French Quarters, some call it a tourist trap, I'd say it's a must!

Quick service, PLENTY of seating, and cheap eats. This place is cash-only, though. Be prepared to be doused in powdered sugar everywhere! Cafe Du Monde is known for their coffee and beignets, and I was super excited to get to try the beignets at the French Quarter while listening to some street performers play music and watch the hustle + bustle of New Orleans. The beignets come out really quickly (if you go inside the little cafe area, you'll see staff members quickly churning out these beignets like literal hot cakes) and dusted with powdered sugar. I usually don't like a lot of dough in beignets, so I like that these were small bites to eat (just be sure to shake off some of that powdered sugar)! Pro tip: line your table with napkins, the powdered sugar gets EVERYWHERE! They also have a gift shop across the street with fun items like pins, stickers, post cards, clothing, and beignet mixes. They take credit card at the giftshop. Everything is extremely reasonably priced (honestly cheaper than expected), but also remember... cash only at the restaurant/cafe!

Can't ever go wrong with beignets and coffee latte iced or frozen. Cash only. Early morning brings big waits. We went after dinner when it was pretty empty. Been going there every visit to Nola over 20 years.

The hype is real! Went here for breakfast a couple of times. Expect a wait if you arrive after 8:30am, but usually there are tables available before then. Quick service and simple menu. The beignets and coffee are a must, but the orange juice was surprisingly good. There is a shop right across the street for all the merch if you liked it as much as I did. It is cash only so be prepared. Usually there are street musicians right outside the seating area as well, so make sure to bring a little tip money for the performers!

Not the first time here but it's been a while. I went on a Sunday at 2100 & place was busy enough but not too too crowded and the beignets were served warm not piping hot & were very and I mean very dense. I don't remember them being that dense in the past. Service was very quick but maybe hence the warm not hot beignets. They can most definitely do better.

Best beignets we tried! This fun open air cafe had a great vibe with everyone enjoying their coffees and beignets. When we arrived, the line was long but it moved fast. There are lots of servers and ours was so nice. She took care of us from beginning to end making sure we had everything we wanted and reminded us that the cafe is cash only. The beignets here are delicious! I like the size. They come out really hot and covered in powdered sugar. The inside is fluffy and moist and I love the taste. The coffee is good but the star are the beignets here. Yummy!!

We ordered beignets to go at the order to go window. They only take cash so make sure you are ready to pay with cash. Then we took our beignets to Jackson square and sat there to eat. It was very fluffy and yummy. Not too sweet at all. The cashier is friendly. The cafe is mostly outdoor under a cover and there is a lady singing right outside the cafe which is a very enjoyable entertainment.

What else is there to say about the famous Cafe Du Monde? Look up any beignet recommendations in New Orleans and this place comes up. They also have a few other locations around the French Quarter. If you want table service, just sit at any open table. If you want to-go, look behind the patio for a line. If you visit during a busy time, table service might be faster and easier than to-go. You can get one order of three large beignets for $3.85, which I usually just round up to $5 because it is CASH ONLY. If you just want to check beignets off your to-go list, you can be in and out pretty quickly.

This is one of the most iconic things you can eat/do in New Orleans, and that's why it's easy to see why they are so insanely busy all the time. There are a handful of Cafe du Monde locations around the city now, but this is the OG and the most crowded because of that, I think. They do two things and they do them both very well: drinks and beignets. Most of the drinks you can get are coffee-based, like black coffee, cafe au lait, and a few decaf options. And then the others you can get are orange juice, hot chocolate, and a few soda and water options. Many if not all of the people there, though, are not there for the coffee. - they are there for the world famous beignets. Delicious and perfectly fried dough covered in a LOT of powdered sugar (there is also powdered sugar on the table, if you want to add more). Whether you stop at this original location or one of the other Du Monde spots around town, just do yourself a favor and get to one of them!

Tourist trap with hairy beignets and lousy service! You should still visit this location because it's a Nawlins bucket list item, for the people watching and the delicious coffee. Here is what to expect: super sticky and filthy tables, lousy slow service (since their phones are way more important than customers), delicious chicory coffee (hot or iced) and hairy small beignets. Pro tip: don't wear dark clothes, that powdered sugar goes everywhere! We've been here about 20-25 times and it is great people watching and there is often an ok band violating your musical sensibilities. But be prepared for long black hairs in your beignets, we've had that happen multiple times now and it's just gross. No idea how they get into the batter but apparently kitchen procedures aren't up to par. Plenty of other and better and cheaper coffee & beignet options close by, though none with the people watching potential of Cafe Du Monde.

Manic, well-fed, with dark eyebrows, I already look like John Belushi, but the powdered sugar all over my table and shirt didn't help any. Cafe Du Monde is to New Orleans like Voodoo Doughnuts is to Portland, or what Katz Deli is to New York City, or what Mystic Pizza is to Mystic, CT, or what Krusty Krab is to Bikini Bottom. Friends warned me it was a crowded tourist trap: an institution (people have been eating here since the Civil War), but nothing special, with sticky tables in place of southern hospitality. If my server was from the south, it was Cabo San Lucas. Even on a rainy Friday in October, it was packed, so I had to circle the tables like a shark. A lot of people will both dilly and dally, so I watched from afar for the moment someone turned their phone off, and I reached their table by the time they put their phone away. It was like fishing. I asked for the table as they got up and stood there until it was cleaned, ignoring all the sad, desperate sharks who missed the kill. Surprised my wife would like something so "obvious", she said, " it is a quintessential New Orleans experience, people watching while eating fluffy, hot beignets, with live jazz music from the street performers. The only thing to make it more New Orleansy is to give gator masks to the surrounding homeless and throw marshmallows to them." (OK, she didn't say that last part) PS. Airport security will flag your suitcase if you buy the boxes of powder, so buy it at the airport. Tip your server a buck extra and ask for the gift bag!

This is a must stop when visiting New Orleans. I'm sure locals and maybe even foodies will say it's overrated. But in my eyes, it was awesome. We ate outside, right when you walk up a server gets you to a table you put in a quick order, we did 3 beignets and 2 coffees. These beignets were soooo good, warm, light, fluffy. Eating a beignet at du Monde was a bucket list item and I have successfully checked it off; Back east, we call these things "fried dough" and they're sold at carnivals, fairs or made at home as a treat...but ours lacks the jazz music, quirky seating arrangements and militaristic service! I did taste one other beignet in the FQ that may have beaten everyone out on texture, but I gotta say that Cafe du Monde's flavor is the most reminiscent of what I would hope fried dough tastes like! Don't wear dark clothing, as you WILL be covered in powdered sugar. It's deep fried, it's soft, it's crunchy. It's the bomb! We went fairly early in the morning and there were no seats; naturally, your inclination is the queue up in the line. Locals tell us that is NOT how it's done--simply act like you own the place, walk in and around all the tables and find one that's been abandoned and is needs to be cleared off. Sit down; a server will arrive, clean off the table, and take your order. Oddly all the servers are Asian, not sure if that's a "thing", but the limited menu is plastered on the napkin dispenser. CASH ONLY! I'm not a coffee drinker, so I ordered a hot chocolate. There is a local coffee with chicory option, but I had no desire to try something I knew cowboys made into coffee in Westerns. My friend had a cafe au lait, for all intents and purposes. We got the 3 beignets and two beverages; all the while, there's a jazz band playing on the sidewalk, which provides a totally awesome experience as you enjoy your beignets. Throw some cash into their hats when they come around. The juxtaposition of homeless folks sleeping on nearby benches or wandering around is a stark reminder of how hard Katrina hit the area.

Take in mind it is outdoors, but is covered but is subject the weather around town. There are typically some "locals" jamming out on a drum, trumpet, and trombone as well you may see someone playing a sax as well playing the upbeat jazz music that New Orleans is known for. We enjoyed the ambience soo much we came back twice while we where in New Orleans. Definitely a must try place. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

Classic location. Touristy. Busy all the time. Quick service though. They definitely have their system down. Sit down as soon as someone else leaves and they'll clean the table for you. Beignets are freshly made, hot out of the fryer! Tons of powdered sugar. Make sure to get something to help wash it down but the extras are a bit more expensive than you expect. Menu is small. Definitely will be back, tried the other competitors and this really was the best. Happy eating!

I've been a fan of Cafe Du Monde coffee for years so a visit to the original location was on my list. Let me start off by saying Cafe Du Monde is NOT a tourist trap. I heeded the warnings of it's busy times and our group had success visiting twice in the evening hours. We sat inside the first time and outside the second. The service can be slower because of how busy they are. They had an army of workers trying to get to everyone. The café au lait will not blow your mind, but it's was creamy simple and smooth coffee with milk. I prefer their coffee black. The beignets were warm, somewhat soft with a lot of powdered sugar. They come in orders of three and were gobbled up quickly! On top of the goodies I just mentioned, the experience of sitting next to Jackson Square right near the Mississippi in a historic venue with jazz playing and horse drawn carriages going by is why you need to stop there. Find a table, sit down and someone will come and take your order. Have your cash ready. Then sit back, relax and take in the moment and enjoy your surroundings!! If you have kids ask them for some paper hats to bring home. Make sure Cafe Du Monde is on your list while in NOLA!!

It's a tourist trap but it's a good one! I guess I have good luck because there was no line when I went! I was able to walk right in, get a table, place my order and enjoy all of the goodness! The beignets were a 10 out of 10. The chicory coffee? Not so much. The experience, photo ops and walking away with Cafe Du Monde paper hats? Priceless! Don't let anyone tell you that this place is not worth a visit because it totally is! I had the beignets at another popular spot in the area but nothing compares to this place. There was a Michael Jackson impersonator outside singing and dancing during our visit which was fun! They take cash only so hit up the ATM before heading over!

THE Cafe Du Monde. The one place where you are 'supposed' to go if you find yourself in/around the French Quarter. When my friends and I were in NO for a bachelor party, I went here twice. Once solo and the other with the group after they eventually woke up from a rather fun night. There are two ways to get some of their delicious beignets, either wait around and hopefully grab a table or wait in the separate, take-out line. Both times, I went in the take-out line. The line was long but it moved pretty quick. The beignet's were really good but IMO, not the absolute best in NOLA, but you come here for the experience and to say that you went to THE Cafe Du Monde. This was a great beignet place and I would definitely go back.

Definitely doesn't disappoint! A lot of people hyped this up for me but the beignet texture and flavor was so good. Couldn't try the frozen cafe au lait but my bf said it was delicious too!!

The chicken adobe was great. Service was great and tried an appetizer that was a different from just Asian restaurants that was interesting too.

Long lines on the weekends, but moves along. I waited in line around 15 minutes, and got one order of beignets, which came with 3. I was surprised it was so cheap, at $3.85, since it's such a tourist destination and all. I've been here before, around 10 years ago, but I felt like the beignets kinda shrank since then. The fresh beignets were fluffy, sweet, and messy lol. Such a good treat for when you're taking a break from walking around/shopping/doing all the things. I feel like this is one of those iconic touristy things you just have to do here, but taste wise, they're just beignets. Nothing spectacular but definitely good. It was fun vibes when we went. There was a street singer on the sidewalk outside the dining area and he got the whole restaurant singing along with him. Walk down the street to visit their store and buy some souvenirs!

An iconic staple and internet hyped reels definitely caught my attention so I had to check out Cafe Du Monde during my New Orleans trip. It was well worth the visit. I had friends who had already been here and I'm so glad they told me they only accept cash . The line wasn't too long and service was quick and friendly . Bustling with customers seated at all tables, it was hard to find a place to sit. However, we took a nice stroll around the area and enjoyed hearing locals play instruments & sing on the streets and view local art. There's rows of shops and plenty to see at this location. The beignets were covered in powdered sugar and tasted very good. If you have never had one. It reminded me of a funnel cake. I also was able to get these beignets at the airport before leaving so that was a plus . They have a Cafe Du Monde inside the airport so I was able to see how they make these beignets through this glass window.

4.25. The beignets are a 5. The lines are a 3. The iced coffee was a 4.5. Cash only is 2. But these are without a doubt the best beignets in NOLA, even if a tourist trap. Stopped on my last day around 1-am and the place wasn't as busy as normal, so that's a good time to go. Sunday was crazy busy when we went.

We knew that we had to stop at Cafe Du Monde while visiting NOLA! We of course got their beignets and had the choice of hot, iced, or frozen coffee to go with. The beignets were good, I did wish they were a little warmer than what they were, however, there was no shortage of powder sugar. We went here around 5 pm and there was no line to get in, and we were able to get a seat right away. We walked by here the next day in the morning, and the line was down the street. I would recommend either going right for their opening or going in the late afternoon. While waiting, we were entertained by a local street performer, and to my knowledge, most of the time there is always live music performing close by. If you're traveling here, it is somewhere you should visit, however, don't be afraid of trying other beignet locations.

Cafe Du Monde is a beignet factory as they serve hundreds of customers thousands of beignets everyday. The lines get long but go fairly quickly. It is worth the wait if you never tasted beignets.

The cafe is so cute and it really does take you back in time a little with the live jazz on the street, no AC, very old posters on the walls, old decor chairs and tables etc - very charming and iconic tbh We came after dinner at around 8-9pm ish and there were lots of empty seats - even space inside (hooray for AC!) weird thing was you just have to sit there until your specific server comes and asks you what u want and we waited like 10 mins.... Low key thought he forgot about us and it wasn't that we were impatient bc he wasn't even busy... we even tried calling him a few times JUST IN CASE (and politely dw) but he was like yes I know I'll come to you so we just sat there lol ‍ ANYWAY gotta say we were very disappointed with the beignets... for a place with SO much hype the beignets were overcooked, cold and dense... maybe we just got unlucky that day but cmon.... I knew we would have to make a stop for these beignets while in the N.O. The first day the line to be seated was long so we opted to order from the to go area and just have our beignets on a stroll in the park. YUM! So fresh and hot and I feel like they use a special powered sugar bc it tastes so good and fills about half the bag (smile!) The customer service was good the only thing is do not forget that it is CASH ONLY but not to worry there is an ATM across the street so grab some cash before getting in line.

Cafe Du Monde offers a fantastic atmosphere, especially at night. The combination of live street music, a vibrant crowd, and the open-air setting gives it a romantic, almost magical vibe under the night sky. The staff is quick and friendly, and even though there are often long lines, they move fast, so don't be discouraged. As for the beignets, they were good but didn't quite live up to my high expectations. Maybe I had built them up too much in my mind, but they were just okay. Overall, it's worth the experience for the ambiance and energy alone.

When in Rome ... one of the must things to do in New Orleans is indulge in beignets and Cafe du Monde is famous for it. Unfortunately, I think they are just operating off of reputation these days. The beignets weren't even hot when they got to our table. And biting into one is like biting into oil that has been used over and over again. Plus the texture is super dense. Positives - they don't skimp on the powdered sugar. Plus the atmosphere wreaks of history. There were 2 locals playing saxophone on the sidewalk which made the eating experience fun. But beyond that, I can't recommend this place. Even the hot cocoa is just Carnation packets and not there with the tiny marshmallows. My top beignets are served at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. They are everything you expect ... hot, fluffy, and fresh.
