Café Deco is a cozy Bloomsbury gem where hearty seasonal dishes and a stellar wine list make for a comforting escape from the everyday.
"Beige food, brown food, call it what you like, Café Deco is a restaurant that serves this type of stuff alongside warmth and comfort in ladlefuls. This tranquil space by Goodge Street is more akin to a tasteful dinner party than a wine bar and restaurant. The lights are low and the wine is lacking in sulphites. The staff smile and serve you like an old friend, before presenting you with something curing and comforting: chicken broth and plump dumplings, gnocchi with the freshest olive oil, steamed pudding surrounded by custard or cream. It’s a nourishing place that we’re thankful to have." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"Maximum Capacity: 25 Minimum Spend: £2200 plus 12.5% service charge Café Deco is a grown-up place for grown-up people who have a deep appreciation for polite portions of grilled meat, borlotti bean stews, and mussels served with hefty chips. If that sounds like something you’d rightfully be into, then you should book the basement of this excellent British restaurant in Bloomsbury. It’s a sophisticated but low-key space. Think white tablecloths, white walls, lovely little candles, and moody lighting." - heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna
"Any dinner at a restaurant with cafe in the name is bound to raise a couple of eyebrows, but Café Deco has proved itself to be a brilliant host for anyone and everyone. Most importantly, you can easily have a selfish three-course meal at this chic British spot in Bloomsbury—and there'll probably be a pudding with custard." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley, sinead cranna
"Like that single rose you 100% meant to buy on the way to the restaurant, Café Deco is small but perfectly formed. This British restaurant and wine bar in Bloomsbury is the kind of place where you whisper sweet nothings over a plate of incredibly tasteful—and tasty—food. Think dover sole and the aphrodisiac prowess of a nettle and ricotta tart. Know that they also have a brilliant selection of low-intervention wines and a terrace out front that’s perfect for smug sipping." - jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna, heidi lauth beasley
"Egg mayonnaise For some people, the idea of eating a hard-boiled egg is hellish. To others, mayonnaise is known as ‘the devil’s conditioner’ and anchovies are best left in horror films. Thankfully none of these people will be found in British restaurant Café Deco, where all three are combined to make one of the finest, most luscious pre-dinner snacks in Bloomsbury and beyond." - jake missing, heidi lauth beasley
