Google
Small, local coffee shop with good quality coffee, calm and slightly upbeat vibe. Nice place to relax, read, work. I don’t remember the name of my latte but it has star anise and orange peel. I opted for oat milk. They have almond milk too. It was delicious! The atmosphere is fine, just a bit crowded and messy towards the back with coffee beans and an actual in-house roaster. So, while a bit messy, it’s also unique and cool to see.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff/baristas. I had the mexi mocha w/spices but I recommend having it without. Latte Campesino was best served hot, personally. All around great and I recommend 👍

Google
If you’re looking for a chill spot to get your caffeine fix, this place is it. Tons of seating and loads of natural light make it perfect for getting some work done or just hanging out. The coffee is seriously good, and their huge butter croissants are out of this world. Plus, the staff is super friendly, which is always a win. Definitely worth checking out!

It was a good morning, got coffee here and it became a great morning. I ordered the Horchata con espresso iced and it was delicious. Solid flavor and it was a great pick me up drink. Solid spot to chill and bring your laptop or read with a cup of joe. I’d definitely come back to this spot again to try their other menu items.

Google
the coffee was pretty good as we ordered two of the horchata latte hot and iced. they came out fairly quickly and the store really followed CoViD guidelines which pleased us. although the customer service was a little minimal it was an overall good visit in a nice part of town.

Google
We got 1 latte , Americano, and horchata espresso and it was terrible!!!! We are coffee lovers and this was soooo disappointing tasted like straight milk! My dad got the horchata with an extra shot of espresso and still tasted like milk. First and last time I go. This place should be called taza de Leche since it was basically a cup of milk

Google
One of my favorite places to get coffee. They import coffee from select growers and roast it in-house. They have a great selection of drinks and you can purchase bags of coffee to make at home. They deliver and you can purchase from their website. No dine-in seating buy outdoor tables are available. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is no parking lot but there's is plenty of street parking.

Not a 5 bc it's on the small side and bc it feels crowded in the back. If it were more open I think I'd give it 5.

Yelp
We are really picky about our coffee beans and this place is one of our favorites. Great drip coffee and espresso drinks! I hate getting a latte and it tasting more like milk than espresso, and their latte was perfectly balanced. You can tell they care about the espresso shot pull and the customer service was amazing!

Yelp
Café de Leche has been a staple in Highland Park since 2008. The name was inspired by Anya's mother (Mama Rosa), and the story behind it is very cute. Their coffee is sourced from partner farms in Nicaragua, Ethiopia, & El Salvador and is roasted on site. HLP is the original location. There are others in Hollywood & Pasadena. This charming café sits on a corner in a historic brick building. Inside you'll find festive artwork on the wall, bench seating, a comfy couch, and a huge roaster in the back. They also sell their signature blends for you to enjoy at home. Fresh pastries are available for you to enjoy, and outdoor seating so you can relax with your pup. A delightful smell of spices permeated the air when I walked in. I asked the nice man behind the counter what smelled so good. He told me the barista was preparing a Latte Campesino, which consisted of orange, spices, and brown sugar. I was sold. I asked for a small ($5.50) with almond milk (.75) and browsed while I waited. I took a sip and was pleased that the latte tasted as good as it smelled. The beans were expertly roasted. It was a light roast without any bitterness. The foam was creamy, and the brown sugar added a touch of sweetness. It was perfect the perfect way to start my day. *Metered street parking & residential.

Yelp
Friendly staff, I ordered the Meximocha. It wasn't too sweet which was perfect but it was not espresso forward. I could mainly taste the milk. Will definitely go back.

Joleen K.

Yelp
Good coffee, great location. They do throw parties here and I think that's pretty awesome. I love when a place serves in glassware for here.

Frank G.

Yelp
Coffee is good. More importantly your baristas respectful and some what friendly. Keep up the good work thanks. The baristas make or break a coffee shop. This new idea that customers don't matter and are burden at coffee shops sucks. Cheers thanks.

Julia H.

Yelp
Horchata espresso so good. Makes me feel dumb for never having thought of that before. Staff is really nice every time I go in (Even one time when I just had to pee, angels). There's no WiFi so I couldn't come here everyday to work, but it's a perfect place to meet a friend or grind out some reading or writing.

Hayley Z.

Yelp
Good espresso, friendly staff. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you go. I think they could be more time efficient if their staff were more organized to stay on a station (one person on register not them switching all over). The wait was kind of long... not to get your drink but to place an order... and there werent even that many of us in line. I had a simple order of oat vanilla latte with cinnamon.. was out in less than a minute.. but forgot cinnamon.. and the guy who took my order on register even made it ans wrote cinnamon on the cup lol uhh.. also their large has the same amount of espresso as a regular. I will say their espresso was great! Im a real stickler for good espresso. I suggest them if you are in the area and have time

Rebecah J.

Yelp
Unfortunately I've been underwhelmed both times trying this place :( All the staff is really nice and I want so badly to like it! But the coffee/tea just isn't strong enough for me. The first time I went I tried the chai chata, and it wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped. The second time I got the horchata con espresso, and honestly, didn't taste either. It really just tasted like milk--not bad, but not what I wanted.

Alexia T.

Yelp
Yummy chai cute vibe line wasn't crazy long :) staff is friendly. I'm not from this part of town so I don't come to often but I just might have too!

Bella T.

Yelp
Was in the area grabbing food and going to some shops and decided to stop by to grab some coffee. We got the chai chata with oat milk and the thai style cold brew. The chai chata was good, but slightly watery. It did have good flavor either way. The thai style cold brew was amazing I loved the unique flavor of the coconut condensed milk that they used. The service was fast and the employees were friendly. There is minimal seating inside so we sat on the couch by the front and then continued walking around the area. There is also plenty of street parking outside of this location.

Leslie L.

Yelp
Horchata con espresso was yummy ! They add cinnamon on top. Service was great as well. Interior is cute and they have a nice couch you sit at and tables as well. There's street metered parking or a parking lot where you have to pay about a 5 min walk. Will be back!

Jhannyn R.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop among the many coffee shops in HP. I live in HP and am a huge coffee drinker so I make my way through these coffee streets. Today I was on York to pick up a bagel from Belle's and as I was waiting in line for my bagel decided to walk around to pick up a coffee. I normally drink my coffee black but was intrigued by their cold brew menu. I told the barista that I was curious by their Thai style cold brew but was hesitant to try it because I didn't want something too sweet. He sweetly offered me a sample. It was a perfect sweet (not so sweet) treat for a Sunday afternoon. I'll definitely be returning here for coffee next time I'm in the mood for a nice bagel from Belle's

Ariana T.

Yelp
In the neighborhood notice a couple coffee shops in the same block so I decided to try Cafe de Leche . I got the iced horchata latte I might say it's the best horchata latte it's not that sweet compare to the ones I've tried .. friendly and fast service and great music taste bad bunny was playing hey!!!

Yvette S.

Yelp
Very solid coffee shop! My girlfriend and I both ordered a latte with extra shots and substituted for oat milk. Our drinks were delicious but what made it better was the atmosphere. It feels so cozy and inviting inside. Love the location and how close it is to restaurants if you happen to be hungry during your coffee run!

Marci A.

Yelp
Literally the best horchata latte. period. I love trying horchata lattes everywhere that makes them, when my hubs told me this was the OG spot for the birth of the horchata latte, I had to try. Super cool vibe inside. staff is super nice. horchata latte had delicious espresso not just basic cold brew. flavor was 100!! They even offer nondairy options for my lactose intolerant friends. Can't wait to go back. can get busy, Simple menu but they offer some pastries, loved the blueberry muffin. Next to a cool playground. you can take your kiddos to get wild on the jungle gym while you enjoy your coffee in peace. street parking only.

Yelp
DRINKS: My favorite is the iced Chai Chata with oat milk! So sweet & so yummy. I've also tried their spinach feta croissant which is a solid accompaniment. 10/10 SERVICE: The staff does a fantastic job at greeting upon entry. They're also on it about asking whether you want a small or large, iced or hot, etc. Speedy service as well despite them having a full house on weekends. 10/10 AMBIANCE: Nice spot with indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors is rather calm but work-like/productivity based while as outside it's more of a "sit and observe humans in peace" type of vibe. 10/10 THANK YOU HARVEY & DANIEL!!

Ellen N.

Yelp
A cute, hip coffee shop with friendly staff and quick service. I've had a variety of drinks here- americano, horchata con espresso, vanilla latte, agave latte, and matcha latte. All are delish with a little bit of sugar adjustments :)

Alex A.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I really liked this place until we saw the real treatment of the staff by the owner. We recently noticed they are paying to have reviews deleted if it is not to their liking. Here's what the review was. They must've taken it down because it revealed the true mistreatment of the staff. They put their lives at risk because you thought making money off coffee was more important than your employees health and safety. Humble yourself, shame on you

Patrice C.

Yelp
Great little coffee shop with nice workers. The coffee was good but I wish it had more of a horchata flavor like the cinnamon flavor.

Alicia F.

Yelp
Highland Park doin the damn thing with another amazing coffee shop! Cafe de Leche is a cute Mexican themed, hip coffee shop. The "coffee and equality for all" sign outside says it all, they truly have a very welcoming atmosphere. The vibes are all there. A clean and bright shop with plenty of seating inside and outside. Service was top tier! I went in with intentions to get the horchata con espresso but after chatting with the barista for a bit, I was torn between two. He was kind enough to give me a sample of the Thai style iced coffee. I love Thai iced tea so add in espresso, game changer. Similar vibes to a dirty chai. I ended up going with the horchata con espresso and man, I wish I lived here for this drink. Horchata coffees are typically really sweet. This espresso cut through that heavy sweetness perfectly! I love the concise menu with great specialty options. I hope to find myself here again!

Elaine G.

Yelp
The cappuccino with regular milk and 1.5 sugars was the best captive ever had. The smooth and creamy warm foam just was a surprising delight. I also tried the horchata latte and I recommend it iced! Pretty hipster to how things off York used to be but I'm thankful for the little spark that is cafe de leche.

Ross M.

Yelp
I hate that I'm not closer to this place! The Horchata con Espresso and the Campesino Latte have a chokehold on me. These are the best flavored lattes I've ever had. You can also tell they care about their coffee beans and their customer service is consistently top-tier. I will continue supporting this place any time I'm around.

Francesca M.

Yelp
Great oatmilk matcha iced latte! The service is quick and the inside is really cute. The area is great to walk and explore the other shops.

Yelp
The best coffee, nice music, the staff is great specially Allison. Every morning I need my coffee from Cafe De Letche . I drive from Glendale every day.

Yelp
Nice place to work / study coffee shop in Los Angeles | Cafe de Leche 5000 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042 Pretty good amount of street park nearby the residential area but can be competitive. I went Saturday 8 AM and it was pretty chill *Opens 7AM - 4PM Ice Oat Milk Latte regular size (around $6) Good place to work or study + good to hangout too since there are some outdoor sittings also!

Yelp

Alex J.

Yelp
Stopped by Sunday morning being greeted and helped by a super friendly cashier. I had some questions being my first time here and she was kind enough to help and offer suggestions for flavors and what their drinks contain. I ordered the horchata con espresso and she asked if I wanted cinnamon added as if elevates the flavors and it's a popular addition so I said go for it! This coffee was amazing! Without being overly sweet it had a nice blend and balance between the sweet horchata, bitter espresso and nutty cinnamon. It was such a smooth and tasty drink that not many places get right. Seems they actually know how to brew coffee, make horchata, and combine it into one drink here!

Patricia D.

Yelp
Café de Leche has a cute look to it and has a bunch of indoor seating and a couch. I wanted to like this place, but besides it's aesthetics there's absolutely no vibes here. The low rating has nothing to do with the vibes, it is for the poorly made drinks. Both drinks ordered, the iced Mexi mocha and iced dirty chi latte tasted like a home made coffee. No real flavor to either drinks....which is odd because mocha and chi have distinct flavors. Instead tasted like an oat latte. Super disappointing, my friend threw out his drink while I chugged mine so my $13 wasn't a total waste of money. Nothing special about their drinks or customer service. Additionally, with all the indoor seating this place has no access to Wi-Fi for their customers.

Brooke I.

Yelp
Super hip coffee shop in the LA area. What drew me in was their "coffee and equality for all" sign. They also enforced their covid policies (i.e., show proof of vaccination before dining in, mask wearing), which I appreciated. In terms of service, everyone was super nice and the drinks came out quickly. The space was a great place to get some work done (music and background noise wasn't overwhelmingly loud, less chaotic than the other shops in the area). Orders: Hot matcha latte with oat milk, unsweetened: I LOVED this. I don't like sweet drinks, so this was absolutely perfect for me. Great flavor and consistency. Hot mexi mocha with almond milk: My partner said it was a well balanced drink. Not too much mocha, not too strong, and you can drink it without getting tired of it. A+. Shoutout to the barista in the orange glasses - you make bomb drinks and we appreciate you.

Yelp
I came back here a while ago, i get this cringey random Moment pop in my head about my experience here. I came here with my freind and ordered a jalapeño cheese bagel. I mean it's not entirely not my fault but the server just yelled the name of the food, i guess some dude ordered the same thing..the guy didn't tell me anything he just stood there weirdly instead of saying oh thats mine, and the server didn't do anything saying oh thats his. I ended up taking my bagel and sitting down, while i was sitting down the guy kept starting at me. *cringe Anyways to guy i took the bagel from, man up and say something instead of looking like a pssy in the corner. Bagel was good coffee was good

Leslie K.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and the oat latte is delicious. The staff is super friendly and engaging. The service was goid and the lattes delicious.

Eduardo A.

Yelp
This has been my favorite coffee shop for 7 years now. The owners are the sweetest and everything they serve is great. Everyone is very nice and friendly, the horchata latte is everything and the spinach pastry is insane.

Reese C.

Yelp
The ambiance was welcoming and comfortable and the staff were sweet. I got a vanilla latte and it was good, not my fav tho. However, I tried a sip of my friend's horchata espresso and thought it was great!

Monica L.

Yelp
Cute little coffee shop with a few tables inside. I ordered the horchata con espresso which wasn't as flavorful as I had expected. Rather than being a horchata latte, it's an espresso latte with a hint of horchata flavor. However, I liked how it isn't too sweet. Went around 11 on a Saturday and there was a line but only waited around 10 minutes. I think I caught the rush because around 11:30, there was no line and a few available empty tables. May have to try their other drinks to get a better opinion on their coffee because this first time fell a little short of my expectations.

Aaron K.

Yelp
There was a time in the not-so-distant past when Highland Park was *not* a a hipster Mecca with a bunch of good coffee shops. There was only one such place and it was Cafe de Leche. This was the one that started it all. Highland Park has changed over the years. The abandoned gas station next door is now a park, filled with helicopter-parented children running wildly around the snake-shaped playground. Bars abound, and multiple restaurants hawk their take on vegan hot chicken. There are at least three noteworthy coffee spots on this stretch of York alone, each one more than capable of making a decent cappuccino. One thing that hasn't changed - the excellent coffee and service at Cafe de Leche. They now roast their own coffee in-house and it's as good as any you'll find. I've been coming here since the beginning and every barista they've had has been genuinely friendly. If you go to many coffee shops, you know that's something you can't take for granted. As I write this review, I'm sitting at one of their outdoor tables and enjoying a coffee break on a beautifully sunny afternoon. If you're ever in the area looking to do the same thing, this a great spot for it.

Grace Z.

Yelp
This location was somewhere that me and my family would always come to since it was near our home. That will no longer be. Whoever owns and runs this location should think more about the safety and care of their hardworking employees. Unfortunately this company is just another one who doesn't care for the lives that are working to make them money. Whoever owns this place clearly prioritizes that money over the wellbeing of their employees. I stay very close by and our community has been dealing with very difficult and terrifying conditions with the fires so close by. I was dropping off supplies for donations nearby and walked passed by cafe de leche. It was the ONLY business open and operating on the block. The employees looked overwhelmed and with the door opening and closing constantly there was clearly unsafe air in the store. From what I can tell this business is also not doing anything to support the community in this tough time, the fires are so close I'm sure many customers are directly facing hardships from it. This place has amazing employees, welcoming every time I've came. To make your employees come in to make you money when they most likely are waiting to see if they must evacuate or not is disgusting. I hope these amazing workers find somewhere else that cares for them better. To the owner, shame on you.

Sadie L.

Yelp
The coffee here is really good. Roasted in house at this location, I really enjoy the taste of the espresso. Swirled with perfectly frothed and steamed almond milk y viola - I'm a happy customer. A comfortable place to hang and relax alone or with pals, an overall tasty and enjoyable experience. Like that you can purchase to go bags and that there is a variety to the menu. Even when it's crowded the drinks are prepared consistently and quickly.

Sam B.

Yelp
A very hipster coffeeshop in Highland Park. After asking about their various lattes, I ordered an iced horchata con espresso, which seems to be one of their signature drinks. They asked me what type of milk I wanted, which makes me think the horchata flavor just comes from some kind of powder or syrup they add rather than horchata. Anyways, I picked oat milk as I always do. Sadly my drink was a dud. I could not taste the horchata flavor at all. Literally all I could taste was the oat milk and espresso. #41 in my coffeeshop chronicles.

Kimberly A.

Yelp
Cute. Solid. Nice staff :) I had an oat milk latte that was solid, but nothing I would go out of my way for. My friend got a tea that I really enjoyed and will get that next time!

Jay E.

Yelp
Café De Leche, a welcoming atmosphere for all. Their chill music, well ventilated and definitely stylish and appealing furniture is great. Is their coffee good? Well I recently tried their Thai Iced Coffee and I got to say it's worth the money. It's made with Condensed coconut milk, and cardamom. It's not as creamy bc it's a vegan drink but I like that hit of Mint/herbal essence from the cardamom it brings. If you're looking for something different from the normal. I'd definitely suggest this as a way of getting out your comfort zone and exploring new drinks. Side notes: while they are stylish, comfort is kinda a issue with the wooden seats against the wall. Maybe some cushioning would help? They do offer some lounge chairs/couches but only so many customers could use them at once. They look like they roast their own beans in house and have a fair selection of beans to purchase if you're into brewing you're own stuff. They also sell Califa oatmilk and almond milk if you're not so much a dairy fan. Overall a appealing place to come get a cup of Joe (or whatever else you fancy) and roll in with a friend or two.

Brody R.

Yelp
Super good vibes here!! A coffee shop playing merengue and salsa definitely had me more excited to try their coffee. The coffee is from Guatemala? I'm in! The super cool dude at the register recommended a Vanilla latte since the vanilla is imported. Probably one of the best vanilla latte's I've had. Also seemed like a perfect place to study, read, and meet up with friends. 100% coming back! Much love to Café de Leche!

Cindy L.

Yelp
Absolutely not. We went in yesterday to get coffee, and the guy working was SO rude. Like, hateful! It was super weird. I went up, asked him how he was doing. He barely mumbled a reply while already seeming very annoyed at my presence, took my order in a huff, and lumbered off like I did something wrong just by entering the store. He did the same thing to both of my friends. I ordered an almond croissant, and he forgot to give it to me. I very nicely (intentionally so) said, oh, I had also ordered a croissant. He looked at me with dead eyes and said 'I'll get that for you now.' No apology, no nothing - just a statement of fact as though he had done it on purpose, and again, as though I had done something wrong. He then basically threw it across the counter at me while refusing to meet my eyes, or saying thanks, here you go - anything. Just a silent chuck of my croissant. He treated me like he knew who I was and hated me. And he did that to both of my friends as well. It seriously felt personal, it was so bad. Whoever is in charge of hiring needs to remove this guy. I'm like 1000% sure all the other reviews about the rude guy working are for him. Seriously, it was over the top. I've rarely had an experience like that, and that's saying something since I've lived in LA for 20+ years. I love the coffee here, but won't be going back anytime soon. It's literally dude's job to be nice to people - that's what the money is for. If he can't even be remotely pleasant, he should get a different job.

Bianca B.

Yelp
Food - bake goods are clean, service with a smile ambiance perfect for reading, working and schoolwork.

Franky G.

Yelp
Horchata con Espresso. *Chefs Kiss* Relaxing seating and music. The tiles on the counter tripped me out.

All A.

Yelp
This place has so much potential, the only cafe with indoor seating in this area, but it needs some better management. They kept changing the music mid song, and I mean the change over and over again 4 times in a row till they found a song they liked. They also forgot about my drink and 30 minutes passed by. When I finally got it it wasn't really good and very overpriced. I wish this place was better run so I would be able to come back.

Jennie M.

Yelp
Really great coffee and matcha, very convenient if you're going to pcc, my only issue is every time I've gone the baristas have been very rude. I'm a barista I understand the job can suck and customers are pretty stupid but you always have to be respectful and professional.

Carl N.

Yelp
¿Que es un Cafe de Leche? Not too many people know the story behind this cafe. The story behind this originated from Mama Rosa who every time she has breakfast she would ask her kids to pass her coffee and hence the name of this coffee shop. This coffee shop is family owned and operated. They have other location in Altadena. I have lived in HP and this small, cute coffee shop is very popular among locals. Interior vibe was very relaxing and chill. Decor was cute. I ordered their hibiscus lemonade (16 oz) and it's was refreshing and fruity. And I like it! Staff was friendly and welcoming. Street parking only. Overall, I had a good order experience. I highly recommend this local coffee shop.

Sasha F.

Yelp
It's a cool little spot in the heart of Highland Park. A great place to grab a cup of coffee and do some work. Now, work-wise, hopefully, it doesn't require WiFi. You can log on for free for 30 minutes, then you'll start paying. I get the reason behind charging for the WiFi though; otherwise people might be posting all day long. I've had an espresso and a matcha latte there. Both were good and the espresso was served in lovely little cup. The employee I interacted with wasn't terribly cordial. The barista was professional and fast. There's plenty of street parking. Meters on York Boulevard or limited parking on side streets. Overall, it was a solid four-star experience and I would definitely come back.
