😂 we finally got our stereotypical French rude waiter, we laughed about it. He doesn’t speak English he says, but could speak it rudely to say NO FOOOOOD even though one of he’s English words sounded like cake when he was telling us what he had available. We still ordered coffee. No menus in English maybe they don’t like us tourists there. Oh well we are here and still sitting. I still gave it 5 stars because we got the authentic French experience from the waiter which we only read about in books.

Loved this local cafe - busy, full of local people and great buzz. Once something is gone, it is gone - a small sacrifice for freshly cooked produce. Our best lunch in Paris by far and also decent prices.

This place is incredible. The food and wine were delicious. Our waiter Maxime was super fun, patient and excellent at making suggestions for wine. He translated the whole menu for us. We had the beef dish and the white fish, both were beyond amazing and cooked to perfection. We highly recommend this place, it's off the beaten track, quiet and away from all the tourists.

They ignore you with a smile on their face, and seem to take delight in being rude. It’s almost an art form. I genuinely hope the staff find peace — and maybe even learn to vis ta meilleure vie somewhere far from customer service.

Nice place. Service was quick and friendly. Wine was very good. The food... Disappointment. I would re ommend it for drinks, but not for food.

Our first night in Paris after a very long and unfortunately eventful journey. We made it to our rooms late and exhausted, but also starving after traveling for over 24 hours. We stumbled across the street to this restaurant simply because it was close and open. It was also perfect. They don't have an English language menu, but the waiter tried to help us with the words we didn't know, and in the end we mostly guessed at what we were ordering. Imagine throwing darts blindfolded and hitting a bullseye every time. That was our experience.

Very arrogant waiter. We where refused to sit down for some drinks. Only for lunch he shouted. And the he turned his back away....But there where enhough tables available. Very bad service or no service at all....

Yelp
I come back to France twice a year and I always want to get quaint french food before going back to California. It is not that easy to get good food in Paris - you need to know the good places to go, and there are a lot of tourist traps. Furthermore, when you spend money in a french restaurant you don't really pay for the food, but you pay for the salaries - including the heavy social charges - and the rent. That's why you need to spend at least 30 euros to hope to have a good meal. Regarding this restaurant, I was really surprised by the quality of the food. The 'rillettes' was the best I had in my life. The sausage with Puy green lentils - a classic from Auvergne - was also great. The owner definitely takes pride in his job and that's a great thing as he is sourcing his product carefully. I will definitely come back.

Yelp
Super rude to anyone that isn't French. English, German, Spanish, they will go out of their way to be a ass hole to you. Especially if you're a tourist.

Yelp
Dreaming about a croissant and café here ever since we had the idea to visit Paris this fall, Le Café de la Nouvelle Mairie was as good as I remembered. Located around the corner from our hotel, steps from the Panthéon, this neighborhood hangout was just the spot to regroup after arriving at CDG yesterday morning. Although we remembered it as a morning coffee spot it remains open through the evening and serves lunch and dinner as well as a respectable selection of wines and other beverages if the spirit moves you. Sidewalk tables stretch along the tall street facing windows but be warned - it is Europe and patrons young and old smoke and vape to their hearts delight. We took our usual corner table by a closed window and enjoyed the view. Sold out of tartine beurre which is day old baguette toasted and buttered with that amazing stuff that we call butter in the US but as I noticed on the plane Is a cut above the American spread (think higher fat content) we "settled" for the finest croissants that I have experienced since the last time we were here 6 years ago. I knew as soon as they arrived and I smelled the butter wafting up from the slightly warmed symbol of French baking expertise on the table in front of us that this is what I had been waiting for. Hoping that I don't experience une crise cardiaque but pretty sure that I will be OK since my cardiologist just doubled the strength of my morning Lipitor dose I enjoyed my breakfast. The French coffee was not as bitter as my usual dose at home which makes me think that maybe I should rethink the beans that I source for our brew at home that flows from our Pavoni. How I wish I could bottle this scene. It is quiet with just un soupçon of classical music, singles and couples passing by ordering their morning drinks as they pass the small coffee bar at the entrance or responding to the barista's question of what they would like across the room as they seat themselves. My partner has left to search for something she has forgotten at the local parfumerie. Should I pass the morning here? Decisions, decisions, decisions....

Yelp
Nice wines and food and cool ambiance, across from a quiet park and around the corner from the Pantheon. Can't go wrong.

Yelp
Loved this place. Chic bistro with authentic and thoughtful French food. Very cool waiter who knew the perfect amount of attention - welcoming and informative but not overly involved. Nice, small wine list. Had a perfectly Parisian evening. Adding it to my go-to list of neighborhood faves.

Yelp
Absolutely horrendous service, greatly and unfortunately supporting stereotypes against rude Parisians. The waiters were rude, offensive, and made us almost literally run away. Worst experience in a coffee place ever. 1st price in worst customer service in France. // Service absolument execrable: personnel désagréable et méprisant, probablement la pire expérience dans un café depuis bien des années. Palme d'Or du plus mauvais service de France.

Emiley C.

Yelp
Very good. I think they have a new menu everyday. The owner was nice enough to explain the menu to us in English. I had the beetroot salad, which was excellent, and the sausage with lentils, very good as well. My mother had white asparagus which she loved and fish which was excellent. The servers all spoke English which was nice too.

Yelp
If you want a café crème in a quaint looking café far from the hustle and bustle of the city, then this is the right place. On the other hand, if you're looking for lunch or dinner, I'd steer clear away from the Nouvelle Mairie. My partner and I arrived for lunch around 11:50am, ten minutes before their lunch service began. The waiter alerted us that lunch wouldn't start until noon, so we had drinks while waiting. Then, as the clock tower chimed noon, the three Café waiters pulled out chairs at the table next to us on the sidewalk, and sat down with their meals. I understand that waiters need to eat before their shifts, but isn't it customary to do so before the lunch service? And they were in no way rushed to serve, let me tell you. Twenty minutes passed before they took our order, and though we were the first to order, the two regulars seated next to us were served first. The waiters' lunch looked pretty good, so I had high expectations, but in truth the food was mediocre--and far too expensive for what it was!

Yelp
It´s always odd to see when reviews are better or worse in a certain languages, with this little Cafe the French reviews are so much better than those in other languages (which may hint at a certain attitude towards tourists) - well, allow me be the odd one out here: I liked it at the Café de la Nouvelle Mairie. I had Lunch there twice and both times the food was excellent. Classic simple french dishes, well prepared from a small, changing menu. Food presentation is very basic and non-gimmicky. The waiters were not really friendly but not rude either. Food arrived quickly, good wine-selection. Lot´s of regulars (from the near Offices and the Universities, I recon), few tourists. Very tight seating (some call it cozy, I don´t). The kitchen is not open continuously like with many other Cafés, here you only get food for lunch and dinner. But then they are usually packed. With a bigger group of people you may also have a hard time going there due to that.

Yelp
Comfort French food in an intimate and casual settign with a youthful vibe and fantastic wine.

Tamara G.

Yelp
Wonderful lunch place, not touristy, delicious food, good service. Menu is in French only, but some waiters speak English.

Nancy H.

Yelp
We've been going here for years. It is the quintessential wine bar in all of Paris. The sélection is reasonable in price and comprehensive

Yelp
Excellent lunch spot near the Pantheon. The quiche in particular was unbelievable! Tasted nothing like quiche in the US. You will be blown away! Authentic French restaurant...bring your Google translator app. Right around the corner is Marie Curie's old laboratory...very cool. Second time there, would definitely go back!

Ron G.

Yelp
This is a perfect off the track cafe on a really sweet square. Nice mix of French and tourists. Closed sundays.

Yelp
Really really average.wont come back. The service is very very slow and and the dishes while they are good are very tiny. Fish was ok but nothing out of the world. On top the location is close to Luxembourg, but the restaurant is just facing the street. Way better restaurant just around. Walk more.

Yelp
LOVED the goat cheese mixture with the herbs and olive oil (it's the first picture)!!! We went there twice, reasonably priced. The dry sausage was good. The broiled sausage has good flavor. The steak was chewy - we asked for medium well, but got bloody. We will definitely come back!!!

Yelp
Come here in the morning or late afternoon for a quiet coffee or tea while doing work and you won't be rushed or bothered. But it's also a wonderful place to get a great value lunch or dinner alone or with friends. A well-executed entrecôte, fresh desserts for only 7€, perfectly sour pickles on the side of many of the entrées.

Yelp
Fantastic place for dinner in Paris. We had a starter and two main courses. Fantastic cheese and perfectly cooked fish and beef. Highly recommend this restaurant.
