These are smallish burritos with a big taste!
I was in the neighborhood, super hungry after taking care of a few errands. I've passed by La Tropicana a few times, and even bought a few items here. But was surprised to find a burrito place in the market., Especially when I was super hungry! It actually, I was in the mood for burritos, especially on this cold day in February .
When I walked in, I was a little confused, noticing that there were no burritos listed on the wall, but then, realizing I was at the juice bar in the market! Continue to walk around and found burritos la palma towards the back of the market.
I didn't realize that this was a chain, which got its start in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico.
Since this was my first time, having their food, I was told that their tortillas are made from scratch, which is what they are known for. I love, I mean, I LOVE homemade tortillas!
At first, I was gonna order one burrito, but was told that the burritos are kind of small so it's a good idea to order to burritos, which I did. They have a few varieties to choose from. I selected the chicken, Tinga, and one burrito with beans and cheese.
They come with a side salsa.
Even though I was super hungry, these burritos are quite delicious! And the salsa and was quite tasty as well, even though it almost looked a little water down. It actually had a good punch to it!
It also turns out that they don't officially open until this coming Wednesday (March 1). So it's a soft opening.
I also learned that they have other locations in Boyle Heights, El Monte, Santa Ana, and I forget where else. Oh wait, Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico!
Definitely worth a bite!
