$5.50 for a bean and cheese burrito that I can make at home? These burritos are super tiny and definitely not worth $5.50. Whoever said they had the best burritos has never eaten at Al Arco Iris.

Daniel John

Google
I thought the amount of filling was fine. Everything was fresh and prepared quickly. Overall I thought the burritos were a little bland. I had the special plate, and the birria was not anything special. The chili that comes with was more interesting and had some good flavors so I recommend trying that if you come.

Google
Everything is fire! I love the flavor. The salsa is delicious and perfectly compliments Everything. I appreciate that it's home made and not Tapatio. Great quality

Karla Mei Robertson

Google
Not your typical burrito. A delicious tortilla wrapped around shredded beef. That's it. And it's the absolute best thing! The frozen ones are remarkably good, so it's worth stocking up!

Google
I have no idea who is supposed to like this place. 2 burritos with barely any filling in a gummy tortilla. My request for a lot of their hottest hot sauce got me about 2 spoons full of flavorless watery orange gloop. If you have the time, make the drive to Lupes. If you have to stay local, go with Chicos.

Finding Burritos La Palma was a bit of an adventure. I actually drove past it at first, not realizing it’s tucked inside a market. There’s a sign out front, but it’s easy to miss. Once I found my way in, I discovered La Palma at the back of the market, almost like a hidden gem waiting to be uncovered. I ordered two burritos: the Birria and the Deshebrada (yes, that’s the correct spelling!). One thing I immediately appreciated was the fact that the tortillas are handmade and fresh — always a great start. But heads up, the burritos are on the smaller side. If you’re hungry, I’d recommend ordering at least three to satisfy your appetite. Now, onto the burritos. Of the two, the Birria stood out as my favorite. It had a nice bit of spice to it, which I loved. That said, I was a little disappointed with the texture. For a guisado-style dish, I expected a bit more consomé, but it was on the dry side. Maybe I’m being picky, but I think it would have been better with a bit more juiciness. So, I’m knocking off a star for that. Overall, Burritos La Palma is a solid spot if you’re nearby. The flavors are good, especially the Birria, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to grab one of these burritos again.

Google
Small and mighty burritos that are so simple yet so flavorful. High quality ingredients — especially the tortillas, chef’s kiss. Don’t expect a massive burrito like if you got double everything at chipotle. They’re 3 for ~$15, but will most definitely fill you up!

Google
Awesome Birria burritos! First time here and will definitely be back. Anthony took care of us and he did an amazing job 👏

Hugh M.

Yelp
$15 for three burritos and $10 for two... In terms of our rankings.... Probably birria, chicken, beef with green chili, and then bean and cheese. Includes salsa and a raw Serrano pepper. Two would be more than filling for the average person. In the back of a pretty cool little market. A few tables outside on a mellow street.

Fiveski E.

Yelp
Burrito La Palma serves up incredible bean and cheese burritos--my absolute favorite. The flavors are authentic and satisfying, making it a must-visit for burrito lovers!

Diana G.

Yelp
A little hard to find, but it's in the back of the Tropicana grocery store. Limited menu but all items are very good! I like the 2 burrito combo. The flour tortillas are so good! I also like ordering the beans and chips on the side. The chips are a bit salty so be aware but they are delicious! Staff is friendly and the orders are always ready within 15 minutes. You can eat inside or outside but it's limited seating so recommend taking home.

Janet L.

Yelp
I love the burritos here, but I'm consistently disappointed with the small portions. The Beans & Cheese burrito is particularly lacking - it's just beans and cheese, after all! If the portions were more generous, I'd be a regular customer.

Jin Y.

Yelp
Vegans and ppl allergic to dairy rejoice! They have vegan cheese burritos that also come with the tortillas not made with butter. I had to get a party tray and had to accommodate a dairy/egg allergy and I'm so so happy that Burritos La Palma had this vegan cheese and bean option. Their other meat options were also amazing! The crowd fave was def the bean and cheese. Next time I'll have to order much more. Service was friendly and they were quick. Walk to the back of the market.

Richard O.

Yelp
This place was a Michelin rated restaurant and I wanted to try their burritos. The best burrito was the beef but it lacked consume. It's supposed to have lots of consume because it's a birria burrito. Slightly disappointed

Victoria L.

Yelp
I love that this location is inside a market. There's a juice spot to the left of it and I was able to find some old school root beer after I ordered. I got the nachos especial and a quesadilla sencilla. The quesadilla was ooey gooey cheese and I loved it with the Serrano on the side. The nachos were awesome. A tortilla was the bottom wrap which was a nice finish towards the end of the plate. It was a perfect lunch. Parking is tricky but there is street parking. Service was friendly and I didn't wait long for the food. I definitely recommend since the menu options vary slightly from the el monte location.

Gary W.

Yelp
This was my first time to this location. It's in the back of bodega which also has a coffee/juice/ice cream/acaii bar. The burritos are filled with juicy fillings(guisados) and then grilled so the tortilla has a light crisp to it. The burritos are around 5 or 6 bites each perhaps and come in orders of 2 or 3. If you are a hungry dude like me, go for the order of 3. My kids(2and 4 years old) can split an order of 2. Enjoy!

Vickie V.

Yelp
This order was placed through Uber Eats. It was my first time ordering and nobody was answering the phone at the restaurant so I winged it. I ordered three burritos - Con Todo, Birria (De Res) and Deshebrada. The burritos are the right size that I could clear 1.5-2 but I had a deal so I went with three. My issue based on pix from other reviewers was whether I'd have enough salsa for three burritos as there was nowhere on the order to request extra salsa. Some people said the salsa the burritos come with (the lighter red one) is watered down and flavorless. I disagree. I liked it and it had a mild kick to it. The other salsa appears to be made from tomates quemados (burnt tomatoes) and was also tasty. Get yourself some of each and you can use your leftovers for breakfast the next day. Now for the burritos....Con Todo for the win. The medley of flavors was perfect and it had a little kick to it. This one was perfection to me. The Birria was a little bland in flavor in my opinion but it wasn't bad. While I typically am a green sauce person, the Deshebrada, while good, just didn't outdo the Con Todo. To be clear, there was nothing wrong with my other two burritos, my tastebuds just preferred the Con Todo out of the three. Other reviews compared this place to Sonoratown, which I , and I have to agree. Even the tortillas are of the same quality. This place did not disappoint and I'll definitely be back for more of those Con Todo burritos. One thing to note, while the burritos came marked, it was a bit hard to figure out the writing. All of the burritos were for me but knowing what I was eating was important in order to properly review. In sum, you know it, another yummy in my tummy rating.

Mansta A.

Yelp
Simple small burritos with fresh made tortillas. You will need more than 1 burrito to be full. I tried 3 different burritos and they are good but not amazing. I'm aware that they do more traditional burritos which have only a few ingredients but I like mine loaded! Also, the salsa is super watery and I'm not sure how I can use it as sauce for my burrito. It's located inside a market with a few other shops.

Joy A.

Yelp
Burritos La Palma is one of my favorite spots to grab something quick to eat while visiting the art galleries near by. It is located in a wonderful neighborhood bodega type of store. What I love about these burritos is the tortilla. It is soft and springy to the bite . This kind of burrito may be smaller than what most people would think but they still are very filling. I got full off of three burritos. My favorite so far has been birria de res, chicharone and con todo. Each order comes with salsa. There are some indoor and outdoor seating and because it is located in a little market, you can grab other things such as smoothies, freshly squeezed juices and other snacks.

Jeanett S.

Yelp
First time trying and it was delicious.... Reminded of the burritos is get when I got Mexico. I ordered the combination plate and got 1 birria and 1 carne desebrada burrito, they were topped with cheese and came with a salsa De puerco chile verde to top it off... Also included beans and salad for $14. The meats were fresh, the salsa was good not spicy, the beans were a bit watery for me and the salad was fresh, just needed some dressing, overall it was a satisfying plate. I ordered ahead and it order was made right on time, no wait. Parking can be a bit difficult, you will have to find street parking.

Richard S.

Yelp
We ordered the three burritos for $15.75. If you want beans and cheese in your burrito it costs extra which we opted for. It was close to $19 after that. These burritos were the smallest burritos I have ever seen. They were reminiscent of the small burritos from Taco Bell. The food was okay. Certainly not worth the upcharge.

Zoe T.

Yelp
I have wanted to try Burritos La Palma since I saw shows and articles online raving about their unique and smaller burritos. I finally got a chance today at the KCRW Pie Fest 2023 at UCLA because Burritos La Palma had a stall! We were not super hungry after eating a few slices of pie, but the burritos smelled and looked too good to pass up. We got 5 burritos total--two birria (beef), two frijol y queso (bean and cheese), and one tinga (chicken). The flour tortillas they used were so chewy and fresh, and the fillings were equally amazing. The frijol y queso was kind of like eating mochi because it had a super soft bouncy texture and tasted like delicious refried beans and cheese. The birria was very tender and juicy, but the tinga was my favorite because it was more spiced (and also very moist and juicy). The burritos were well-wrapped because none of the delicious juices from the fillings leaked out. I think the burritos are the perfect size and flavor bombs for a person to eat two and be satisfied/full. I can't wait until my next Burritos La Palma experience at an actual storefront next time! I will definitely be visiting the Highland Park location in the future because it's the closest to where I live.

Niko A.

Yelp
Had this place bookmarked for a while and finally got a chance to try it! Uniquely located in the back of a market, so it's a little hidden. Seats located inside and outside. Tried the Birria and Deshebrada per their recommendation. Birria was my fave, super flavorful and moist. I usually don't like too much tortilla, but this one was super soft and fresh. I might try to buy some from them next time. They're pretty small, but I was satisfied with two. Didn't feel super heavy or greasy. Will be back to try other fillings.

Brandi F.

Yelp
Best tortillas in so cal. I struggle to find a better burrito. It never disappoints. I'll drive to El Monte for these. The employees are always nice and helpful. Not much in the way of ambiance but you are here for the food, right? So good.

Evelyn F.

Yelp
This is located in a small neighborhood grocery store, street parking. You can order, and then browse the store. Burritos are very small and slim; I got 3 and was barely full, and that's someone who has a rather small appetite, so definitely would not be satisfying to someone who enjoys Lucky Boy's big burritos, but the flour tortilla was soft and had a great light, chewy texture, and the meat was flavorful. Great sampler-style version of burritos, but a bit pricey for the size.

Danielle G.

Yelp
the birria burrito is amazing. tortilla is made from scratch and really tastes different, better. the meat is perfectly seasoned, juicy, and satisfying. i would eat this everyday if i could but i cannot unfortunately

sarah k.

Yelp
Both the birria and bean and cheese burritos are flavorful and authentic. Little pricey but worth it!

Axel E.

Yelp
Burritos La Palma is always great and I am happy they have this Highland Park location, hopefully they open up more in LA! Really uniquely located inside of the grocery store, there is also a juice bar and lots of fresh and frozen products if you need to pick anything up while you wait for your burritos. The store sells frozen burritos here as well! East street parking

Denise V.

Yelp
I was working near by and was craving bean and cheese burrito. I saw this place which was serving small burritos that were Michelin's approved. So I decided to get 2 burritos for 10 dollars. At first I was taken back in the price and the size of the burritos but when I tasted them, they were so delicious and fresh. I would definitely treat myself again to these yummy burritos. The quality was excellent and for me it was just enough for me to have a quick lunch.

Juan O.

Yelp
Burritos are amazing ! Highly recommend if you're passing through the Highland Park area.

Melissa T.

Yelp
Those birria burritos are delicious and I love the size. I only wish there was one closer to my house in Los Feliz!

Christopher C.

Yelp
I'd been wanting to try Burritos La Palma after seeing the on-line hype, so when I heard that they opened this Highland Park site I went to check it out. I've been back three times since! It's located in the back of a neighborhood market - a market that does not have a parking lot. Or a public restroom. Each time I've visited I've been able to find street parking, but I've had to circle the block a few times. You order at the counter, pay using their iPad (and yes, they swing it around and you have the option to tip 15%, 20%, or 25%.) (No option for a custom amount.) The burritos are amazing. My go-to is the bean and cheese, but the special (two birria burritos topped with a green chile pork sauce) is outstanding! The burritos are served with a watery (but spicy) salsa, and a Serrano pepper (does anyone eat the pepper?). I usually end up buying some tortillas to take home, and some salsa as well. Now if only they had a parking lot...

Kris B.

Yelp
Wow! The best burrito I've ever had! I ordered the desherbad and birria burrito and both were absolutely delicious! The meat is so juicy and tender with amazing flavor. I added beans to mine and the beans were so good! The tortillas are handmade, soft and just perfect! I loved every bite of these burritos. I almost felt I was at my mom's house eating. So comforting, simple and great quality! Definitely a new favorite.

Seajay R.

Yelp
Never do this/leave negative reviews . I ordered off the apps 2 days in a row to see the consistency, since the first time I thought it was decent but seemed like it could be better. 1st time nachos had almost no toppings and were dry underneath the top layer of cheese toppings etc. For about $20 it was offensive, never looking for a mountain of food just what's fair for the price. Flavor was decent but a bit bland salt and spice wise. Ordered 2 burritos of the beef not birria, really solid as someone who grew up near Al and Beas but never liked due to ingredients lacking any type of quality. 2 burritos and 1 nacho only received 1 salsa, again not expecting a handful im a Chef so I understand food cost margins etc but even still 1 salsa is crazy as it's a runny tomato style not a overly roasted type where you lose volume and time from the roasting which would make sense you'd only get the 1. Anyway second day nachos were heartier but flavors were blander no salt on meat or beans etc. Also ordered a chicharron burrito which had 0 pork flavor or flavor of any kind. These places grow they expand but you don't expect the quality to drop and change especially on a daily basis especially since the food is most likely coming from a Comissary kitchen where consistency is the point but anyway here we are. 2nd order no salsa was provided expect the one I paid extra for. The whole thing was pretty expensive and offensive. Never again.

Jessica L.

Yelp
Went back to try one more time and tastes just like their other location! (Thinking they might have accidentally given me a vegetarian version the last time I ordered.)

Matthew C.

Yelp
I was skeptical about the "small" burrito thing, but this place is legit. I'd feel better paying $15 for one big burrito, but I'll let it slide. I had the chicharron, birria, and beans and cheese. Each one had real flavor and the Tortilla tasted authentic. I enjoyed each one. The resturaunt rents a kitchen in the back of a larger local market. It's a cool set up and allows a good spot to grab food, drinks and wine. I liked it. The service was cool, and I have no complaints. Anyway, I do reccomend this place.

Justin C.

Yelp
10/10 Recommend. My only complaint is there isn't a burritos la palma closer to where i live.

Jasmine P.

Yelp
Great simple burritos, I've tried them at smorgasbord and now their restaurants. They're just as good!

Wendy M.

Yelp
Love this simple small.just a hint of heat I can polish off 2 chicken and not feel like a pig! Hasn't changed sines found it 10 years ago

Barb I.

Yelp
Love this place! It's a quick counter service style, located inside Tropicana market. There's a few small tables outside, or you can opt to sit by a counter near the front register. These burritos were simple but definitely packed with flavor. Highly recommend the green chile plate special (picture shown here) and get red salsa. Also love their chicken tinga and birria individual burritos.

Mindy P.

Yelp
I had been looking forward to taste their bean and cheese burrito. What a disappointment. Each burrito had about 2 tablespoons of beans. Not enough beans to really taste them. I'm giving 2 stars because the tortillas were good

Alyssa N.

Yelp
The food is fresh and delicious. The birria really lives up to its expectations as it is juicy, flavorful and delicious. The customer service is also top notch. Be back soon !

Noemi M.

Yelp
These are smallish burritos with a big taste! I was in the neighborhood, super hungry after taking care of a few errands. I've passed by La Tropicana a few times, and even bought a few items here. But was surprised to find a burrito place in the market., Especially when I was super hungry! It actually, I was in the mood for burritos, especially on this cold day in February . When I walked in, I was a little confused, noticing that there were no burritos listed on the wall, but then, realizing I was at the juice bar in the market! Continue to walk around and found burritos la palma towards the back of the market. I didn't realize that this was a chain, which got its start in Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico. Since this was my first time, having their food, I was told that their tortillas are made from scratch, which is what they are known for. I love, I mean, I LOVE homemade tortillas! At first, I was gonna order one burrito, but was told that the burritos are kind of small so it's a good idea to order to burritos, which I did. They have a few varieties to choose from. I selected the chicken, Tinga, and one burrito with beans and cheese. They come with a side salsa. Even though I was super hungry, these burritos are quite delicious! And the salsa and was quite tasty as well, even though it almost looked a little water down. It actually had a good punch to it! It also turns out that they don't officially open until this coming Wednesday (March 1). So it's a soft opening. I also learned that they have other locations in Boyle Heights, El Monte, Santa Ana, and I forget where else. Oh wait, Jerez, Zacatecas, Mexico! Definitely worth a bite!

Father Teressa T.

Yelp
OMG I understand the hype now. For fans of Sonoratown, get ready to meet your new favorite mini burrito. Seriously, this place is amazing. I had their two burrito plate on the first day they opened (my husband was obsessed with their other location) and now I am officially hooked. It's official: Highland Park has the best variety of tacos and burritos in LA. Think about it. You've got the decadent and delicious Villas Tacos, you've got the Texas flavor of Homestate, and of course all the trucks. But now, there's these insane burritos to complete the picture. Monte Vista's back counter is back and better than ever!!!

Morgan W.

Yelp
The burritos are a good snack. They are small but delicious. I got the birria, frijoles y queso, and deshebrada. Both meats were tender, juicy, and flavorful. The bean and cheese was my favorite though. The tortilla is what sets it apart. It's soft and chewy and if grilled it has a nice crisp texture. I liked the simple salsa and the fresh whole green chili served with it, it compliments the burritos nicely.

A A.

Yelp
Everytime I come here I'm amazed. The frijoles y queso is hands down my favorite menu item and don't get me wrong, I eat meat! I've just never had such a perfect sized, perfect flavored, meal like the kind I get here. The salsa is fkin bomb too and it make ever bite just so much better!

nick m.

Yelp
Best little bean and cheese burritos around. Love the vegetarian options for those with the high cholesterol and not one ounce of flavor is compromised :)

Bree H.

Yelp
Im vegetarian and was told my only option really was a vegetarian bean and cheese burrito. I asked what else comes in the burrito and was told that that's it. Just beans and cheese. It was what you'd expect from a bean and cheese burrito with nothing else on it. Perfectly edible, but pretty standard.

C S.

Yelp
This place is the BESTTTTT. Legit been eating like once a week. Super fast when I call in the order can't recommend enough.

Michael S.

Yelp
First time customer and will definitely return. Had the Platillo Especial (two birria burritos + chile verde & pork sauce and beans). Thought it was pretty great. The burritos are super tasty beef birria. The sauce with the burritos really raises them from "very good" to "pretty awesome," though it does overpower the already flavorful birria filling a little bit. For $15, it's a pretty darn large meal and super tasty.

Jay T.

Yelp
Very excited to have La Palma in the neighborhood! Delicious as always! Birria, chicken tinga, frijoles. Not a bad option in the bunch.

Tiareh C.

Yelp
small but mightyyy delicious. Tortilla was soft and delightful. Fillings were wonderfully flavorful

Natalie B.

Yelp
Sooo delicious. Birria is the classic. Its so tasty. Bean and cheese (regular I've never tried vegan) is also delicious. Order a few because these are smaller than typical burritos. So glad I don't have to drive all the way to El Monte anymore.

Edi L.

Yelp
Took a 45 minute drive to Highland Park to check out the new Burrito La Palma, located inside La Tropicana Market. The Restaurant sits towards the back of the market, very easy to spot. I ordered the Platillo Especial- two Birria Burritos with B&C topped off with their delicious green chili pork sauce and a side of refried beans and salad. It's definitely a must try for anyone that loves real authentic Mexican food and appreciates a real size burrito, like the ones my family makes in Mexico. My friend opted for their vegan cheese and bean burrito which was a nice surprise as their other locations do not offer this on their menu, he said it was one of the best vegan cheese and bean burrito he's had. What's nice about this location is that the market also sells their frozen burrito's and freshly made flour tortilla so if you're still hungry for more or simply will like to take some burritos to go, you can grab a few boxes of burritos on your way out. Overall my experience was amazing and I can't wait to come back!

Shewho M.

Yelp
The service here is impeccable. Any time I come in I am greeted by a kind server and the burritos never fall short. They are on the smaller side so I do recommend getting two. I have tried all of their protein options as well as their vegan options and none have disappointed me. I would also like to add for being fresh, the food is usually served within 10-15 minutes from ordering. The shop they are located in is also full of great things. I would recommend anyone in Highland Park to go and give them a try.

Meaghan M.

Yelp
I love Burritos La Palma so much. I used to drive to El Monte just to get the birria con todo burritos. The service is so friendly and I couldn't be happier they're right down the street now. GO IMMEDIATELY

Ezekiel M.

Yelp
Popped in for my lunch break and these Burritos were amazing! Had one of each and the special birria burrito combo was amazing. Eduardo was very helpful and patient when he assisted me. Also Like that it's inside a store and they are fast once they have your order. BLP my atf burrito stop now. Glad they're in Hp now. Keep up the good work guys.
