"Bukhansan National Park: An Urban Escape Koreans love hiking, so it’s very convenient for Seoul dwellers that Bukhansan National Park is located a quick jaunt to the north of the city. Jutting granite peaks topped with assorted temples and pavilions make for a great day trip. Just be sure to dress appropriately. You’ll soon discover that Korea’s mountain trails are a catwalk of top-end hiking gear. Bukhansan’s claim to fame? Its proximity to one of the world’s largest metropolitan areas has landed it in the Guinness Book of World Records for being the national park with the highest number of visitors per square foot. If you can, go in the spring or fall when the foliage is at its most vibrant. Take subway line 4 to Gireum Station, exit 3."

Great hike up the main peak. Easy climb then slightly more difficult at the end to summit Bukhansan. It's steep but with metal railings to drag yourself up which makes it easier.

Very steep at the end but there is metal rope you can hold to climb. The view is amazing. I went there with my friends and it was really crowded because it was a public holiday. We started at 10 am. It took us 3 hours to go up, we spent an hour at the peak and then 2 hours to come down.

The Bukhansan trail was an absolute pleasure to complete. It was manageable without any major difficulties, making it suitable for most hikers. Toilets are available early along the trail, which is a thoughtful convenience. The path is well-constructed and clearly marked, with rest spots thoughtfully placed throughout the journey. The hike took around 5–6 hours at a relaxed pace. Highly recommended!

I started at 7am.. the trail took 4-5 hrs with breaks and lots of pictures. You should wear sturdy hiking shoes ! The trail markers are reliable enough but don’t be surprised to be lost because the trail can be ruined by natural causes. The view - amazing and totally worth it <3 be prepared to literally climb on your hands and knees and to use your core strength to pull yourself up :)

It is so big that it has more than 50 access points. It has lots of peaks too! If you are a nature lover and you want to avoid the crowded destinations in Seoul, Mt. Bukhansan is the perfect place to go. The view is a just beautiful. It’s a mixture of Seoul city landscapes and nature. You’ll see a number of mini falls while hiking. Climbing to the top of Baegundae (the tallest peak) was a workout. My hiking thus far has not produced the billy goat legs I keep expecting to replace my own, so I struggled, huffed, and puffed my way to the top just before sunset. The colors were incredible once I got about halfway up. I couldn’t stop to take as many pictures as I wished since the light was fading fast and I had no clue about how much more hiking would be required until I reached the summit. There was also the issue of having too many beautiful things to photograph in every direction. 6 hours climb! Worth experience!

Took the reeking trail on the right and was in for an adventure. Early April still had some snow and ice on some parts around 500m. Cool views of giant Buddha a little under halfway of the hike, hidden in the mountains. Great views, a little challenging of a course but the trail is maintained. Met a few people along the way that were friendly and willing to help us with directions.

Quite a challenging hike to reach the peak, especially for beginner. Nice view along the way and also at the peak of the mountain. Make sure you prepare water and food as likely will spent 5-6hrs at least for the whole journey to reach the peak. Also, make sure you go there earlier so that you can return to ground before the day turn dark.

You should never ever miss this beautiful trail if you're in Seoul during autumn. Be prepared as it's chilly and windy at the peak. Bring some snacks or even cup noodles (with hot water) to enjoy while savouring the scenary!
