"The Buda Castle is probably the greatest tourist attraction in Budapest, which means you can hardly be alone there. But believe us! You don’t want to miss it! Every street, every corner and every house surprises you and takes you to another world. Try to go off the beaten track, follow your instincts and be absorbed by the beauty of the area!" - Barbara Majsa

"This stunning 18th-century Baroque palace, a World Heritage Site perched on Castle Hill, evokes images of Hungarian kings and the mighty Hapsburg empire. Accessible via funicular or a steep walk, the castle's gardens, squares, and lavish interiors can be taken in on a guided tour or a relaxed afternoon on your own. Various portions of the palace were added in later centuries, offering a cornucopia of architectural and historical sights. The castle's omnipresence (its height makes it visible from many corners of the city) offers orientation and grounding for tourists and locals alike."

A spectacular art gallery, which is both beautiful on the outside and inside. The artworks contained inside are beautiful and the descriptions alongside them are informative and insightful. So many different eras and styles of art are included it’s impossible to describe them both but entry is reasonable and therefore it is a must see in the city.

We went from Fisherman’s Bastion to Buddha Castle by foot, which was a nice walk. We purchased a combined ticket for the “St Stephen’s Hall Museum” and the “History Museum”, which were located in the same building, for 4.500 ft each person (almost 11 euros). The History Museum was a very big museum, starting from the top floor and leading to the caves of the castle, and it needs a lot of time to complete. St. Stephen’s Hall Museum was very small, and it needs very little time to complete. After watching these museums, we walked on the castle (which also offers other museums, yet we chose these two), where the view was very nice.

Lovely buildings from the exterior but not much to see within the actual castle - a lot of it is either closed off to the public or has permanent exhibitions installed (and that too not many). Entry to the exhibitions and some rooms you need paid tickets for, but to walk around the exterior of the castle is free. Also has a funicular taking you from the bottom of the hill to right outside the castle gates. Doesn't take too long to see everything - maybe 2 hours. Worth seeing.

The view is amazing and good for a walk. The castle is pretty huge and gives the scenery view during the evening and sunset time. Good to take a snap of a photo and enjoy walking around.

We visited a week before Christmas and had a lovely experience. The view of Budapest from the bastion is stunning, making it well worth the visit. However, it was quite crowded, so we had to wait for a good spot to take photos or fully enjoy the scenery.

The castle was absolutely spectacular! Exploring Budapest's rich history and witnessing how the city has risen from adversity to reclaim its proud heritage was fascinating. Even on a rainy day, the castle grounds and breathtaking views left us in awe! The beautiful water fountain was a delightful bonus. This experience is a must-see for every visitor—truly a highlight of our trip!

Buda Castle is a breathtaking landmark in Budapest, offering stunning panoramic views of the city. With its impressive architecture, rich history, and beautiful surroundings, it’s a must-visit for anyone exploring the area. The castle houses several museums, including the Hungarian National Gallery and the Budapest History Museum, providing a deep dive into the country’s cultural heritage. The castle grounds are peaceful, with lovely gardens and scenic spots to relax. Whether you’re wandering through its cobblestone streets, admiring the views, or exploring its history, Buda Castle is an unforgettable experience.

Loved walking around the castle grounds. They are obviously spending a lot of money rebuilding what was destroyed in the war. We didn't go inside but we had a wonderful walk around enjoying the grounds. It was very cold and very crowded when we went so be prepared for some jostling. We bought tickets to a little hop-on-hop-off shuttle, which I recommend if you don't fancy all the walking. You can hop off at each stop and have a wander around for how ever long you want. It was ideal, we did plenty of walking in between rides.
