"Occupying a corner of the well-established raw beef alley of Gwangjang Market, Buchon Yukhoe has been in business since 1965, originally started as Buchon Sikdang selling short rib soup. The founding matriarch’s original Jeollado Province-style raw beef, seasoned with red chili paste, gave way to the more popular Seoul-style in the 1980s, seasoned with sesame oil and eaten with matchstick pears. A well-deserved Michelin recommended restaurant, with delicious, well-prepared food, and lovely service! Everything we tried was fresh and tasted amazing, and despite all of it being raw, it went down our stomachs easily, suggesting careful preparation. We had the sliced beef tartar, live octopus, and beef tartar bibimbap. All were good and would definitely order again! The service too, was impeccable. We arrived at the main shop that was full, and despite the language barrier and crowded restaurant, the staff patiently and courteously directed us to the side branch, which was within walking distance. Overall an excellent dining and tourist experience. Highly recommended!

Finally, a Michelin mention restaurant worthy of said mention. Had the raw beef bibimbap which was simply divine. Can’t compliment the dipping oil and chilli sauce enough which complements the meat so well. The meat was of excellent quality, needless to say. If possible, I’ll go back to have the steak tartare proper!

Fresh beef and octopus served raw—definitely a ‘special’ experience, but not exactly my cup of tea. After a couple of bites, I waved the white flag. I even tried cooking the beef in the hot soup, but it was as stubborn as my Wi-Fi on a bad day. If you’re feeling adventurous, I recommend sharing one order with three friends… or enemies. It’s pricey too, so for that cost, I’d rather just stick with a steak that doesn’t try to stay raw!

A bit overrated to be honest. I waited 40min on a Saturday and the beef tartare didn’t taste as good as those in other Korean barbecue restaurants. The seasoning was so plain and the meat was not chewy and fresh at all. Either the same budget you can definitely find another beef tartare restaurant in Seoul with less waiting time

There is a bit of waiting time by simply registering yourself. Here the specialty is tartar and raw octopus. They are quite good! The funny thing is that the octopus is moving after being cut. It is a local Korean delicacy. Bimbap was also quite good.

This was the best ‘Yukhoe’ (Korean-style raw beef) restaurant I’ve ever tried! They've even received the Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction. All the ingredients, including the raw squid and beef, were incredibly fresh and clean. One downside is the limited menu options, which might not appeal to those who don't enjoy raw food. But if you do, the flavors are exceptional—I loved it. We were fortunate to arrive just as the restaurant opened, so we got an early spot in line and didn't have to wait long.
