"Bistro by the Bay Astoria's Cannery Row has enjoyed a resurgence as a tourist destination for Oregon Coast visitors. As the former state capital clings to the Columbia River with the determination of a stubborn child, dwindling fishery and logging economies give way to opportunities. Bridgewater Bistro pairs perfectly with the new vision for the city's future. With wonderful water views in a historically inspired space, the Bridgewater is an open and welcoming environment with two levels of seating. Summer sends patrons out on the expansive deck shadowed by the Astoria-Megler Bridge. The menu is focused and locally sourced. Our party started with the Bloody Mary oyster shooters and moved through the salad selection, pausing to peruse the extensive wine list. Local craft beers and specialty cocktails provide plenty of drink options. The main course was split between the fresh salmon and the steak offering, and both were prepared with inspired seasoning. Staff are friendly and professional with a genuine commitment to the work they do. The views have a tendency to distract from the food at hand, but those dishes find a way to hold their own in the competition for a diner's attention. Combine value, quality, and service in Oregon's NW corner for a memorable dining experience at the Bridgewater."

Very nice quaint atmosphere. The fire and views are great! The best part is the Halibut. Cooked to perfection and deliciously crispy. All of the other food I tried…. Meh The burger ….. eh It also only came with three onion rings. The clam chowder is an orange chowder so not what I was expecting. Our waiter forgot two items on our order of five items. That’s a lot to miss. There was a different nice lady constantly filling up our waters, that was definitely a saving Grace.

Our first time here and Overall: it was great! We walked from our hotel after staff recommended the bistro. We did not have a reservation for dinner and while the host was polite seemed shocked we didn’t. Place was about 1/4 full (later on it got busier). Our waitress was excellent. She took her time explaining special and gave us time to look over menu. Food was great. Only minor issue was overhearing bartender asking another how to make drink I ordered and when it came seemed to be missing something. Drink was good though. The piano player was a nice touch. And the river/bridge view pretty cool. Next time we in town will try them for lunch!

We were very satisfied with our meals. Service was nice but slow for some reason- probably out of everyone’s control. They made it up by proving dessert which was very well received by us. I had the halibut which was fried and I enjoyed it very much. Also had the chowder. My husband had the crab cake special which were dry and unremarkable. We also had the gumbo at our table and got great reviews. The restaurant was very nice. It had a roaring warm fire in the fireplace when we arrived. Well appointed.

It was #yummyful! The beef sirloin was cooked to perfection: soft that melts in your mouth and very good flavor. If you like cobbler, the Oregon cobbler is a must try! The short ribs was as good as the sirloin. Definitely will comeback! The restaurant was too cold and it was drafty as we were seated on the 2nd floor. But have a good view at the river! The server was very attentive!

Staff was very nice and welcoming. They did have a highchair but unlike other posters I wouldn't really want to bring kids here especially more than one. The view of the bridge is great. I felt the food was lacking in flavor I ordered the special which of course was $10 more than anything on the menu hoping for something special they used some great ingredients but it really all went together to taste like creme cheese over fish. I feel like the view and location deserve better dishes. My wife's salmon was also just good not great.

This is a great stop for lunch when traveling through Astoria, such as we were heading down the coast. Such a cool location, looking out over the water while you dine. We sat inside because it was super windy outside. I was delighted at how quickly our food was served after ordering, and everything was of great quality. My steak wasn't terribly warm when I got it, but it tasted awesome and was cooked perfectly. The bread was a winner for everyone who tried it, and definitely something to box up to go when leaving.

Really great location and mellow atmosphere. I just grabbed a seat at the bar, but there were a few tables available. Very relaxing piano that sounded great in the very large room. The bartenders were my servers and they were great. Hats off to Jami and Carrie! I had oysters on the halfshell, pan fried oysters, and a great bleu cheese wedge salad. I'll be back!

Absolutely wonderful! Must try the crab cheesecake! It’s savory, almost tastes like a quiche (but egg free). We also had Manila clams, seafood chowder, crispy skin salmon, and the prawn Louis salad. All were delicious. It was very busy (on a Sunday). Strongly recommend reservations. Staff was friendly, beautiful view of the Columbia. Outside seating available.
